Ezra 5
1 And the prophets have prophesied (Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah son of Iddo) to the Jews who [are] in Judah and in Jerusalem, in the Name of the God of Israel—to them.
১পরে হগয় ভাববাদী ও ইদ্দোরের ছেলে সখরিয়, এই দুজন ভাববাদী যিহূদা ও যিরূশালেমের ইহুদীদের কাছে ভাববাণী প্রচার করতে লাগলো; ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের নামে তাদের কাছে ভাববাণী প্রচার করতে লাগলো৷
2 Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, have risen, and begun to build the house of God, that [is] in Jerusalem, and with them are the prophets of God supporting them.
২তখন শল্টীয়েলের ছেলে সরুব্বাবিল ও যোষাদকের ছেলে যেশূয় উঠে যিরূশালেমে ঈশ্বরের বাড়ি তৈরী করতে শুরু করলেন, আর ঈশ্বরের ভাববাদীরা তাঁদের সঙ্গে থেকে তাঁদেরকে সাহায্য করতেন৷
3 At that time have come to them Tatnai, governor beyond the river, and Shethar-Boznai, and their companions, and thus they are saying to them, “Who has made for you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?”
৩তখন নদীর পারের দেশের শাসনকর্ত্তা তত্তনয়, শথরবোষণয় এবং তাঁদের সঙ্গীরা তাঁদের কাছে এসে বললেন, “এই বাড়ি তৈরীতে ও দেওয়াল তৈরী করতে তোমাদেরকে কে আদেশ দিয়েছে?”
4 Then we have said thus to them, “What [are] the names of the men who are building this building?”
৪তারা আরও প্রশ্ন করলো, সেই গাঁথনিকারী লোকদের নাম কি?
5 And the eye of their God has been on [the] elders of [the] Jews, and they have not caused them to cease until [the] matter goes to Darius, and then they send back a letter concerning this thing.
৫কিন্তু ইহুদীদের প্রাচীনদের প্রতি তাঁদের ঈশ্বরের দৃষ্টি ছিল, আর যতদিন দারিয়াবসের কাছে অনুরোধ করা না যায় এবং এই কাজের বিষয়ে পুনরায় চিঠি না আসে, ততদিন ওঁরা তাঁদের থামালেন না৷
6 The copy of a letter that Tatnai, governor beyond the river, has sent, and Shethar-Boznai and his companions, the Apharsachites who [are] beyond the river, to Darius the king.
৬নদীর পারের দেশের শাসনকর্ত্তা তত্তনয়, শথরবোষণয় এবং তাঁদের সঙ্গী অফর্সখীয়েরা দারিয়াবস রাজার কাছে যে চিঠি পাঠালেন, তার অনুলিপি এই৷
7 A letter they have sent to him, and thus is it written in it:
৭তাঁরা এই সব কথা বলে একটি চিঠি পাঠালেন, “মহারাজ দারিয়াবসের সব কিছু ভাল হোক৷
8 “To Darius the king, all peace! Be it known to the king that we have gone to the province of Judah, to the great house of God, and it is built [with] rolled stones, and wood is placed in the walls, and this work is done speedily, and prospering in their hand.
৮মহারাজের কাছে আমাদের এই অনুরোধ, আমরা যিহূদা প্রদেশে মহান ঈশ্বরের বাড়িতে গিয়েছিলাম, তা অনেক বড় পাথর দিয়ে তৈরী এবং তার দেওয়ালে কারুকার্য কাঠ বসানো হচ্ছে; আর এই কাজ যত্ন সহকারে চলছে ও তারা ভালো ভাবে তা করছে৷
9 Then we have asked of these elders, thus we have said to them, Who has made for you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?
৯আমরা সেই প্রাচীনদের জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম, তাদেরকে এই কথা বললাম, ‘এই বাড়ি তৈরী ও দেওয়াল গাঁথতে তোমাদেরকে কে আদেশ দিয়েছে?’
10 And also their names we have asked of them, to let you know, that we might write the names of the men who [are] at their head.
১০আর আমরা আপনাকে জানানোর জন্য তাদের প্রধানদের নাম লিখে নেবার জন্য তাদের নামও জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম৷
11 And thus they have returned us word, saying, We [are] servants of the God of the heavens and earth, and are building the house that was built many years before this, that a great king of Israel built and finished:
১১তারা আমাদেরকে এই উত্তর দিল, ‘যিনি স্বর্গের ও পৃথিবীর ঈশ্বর, আমরা তাঁরই দাস; আর এই যে বাড়ি তৈরী করছি, এটা অনেক বছর আগে তৈরী হয়েছিল, ইস্রায়েলের একজন মহান রাজা তা তৈরী ও সমাপ্ত করেছিলেন৷
12 but after that our fathers made the God of the heavens angry, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon the Chaldean, and this house he destroyed, and the people he removed to Babylon;
১২পরে আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা স্বর্গের ঈশ্বরকে অসন্তুষ্ট করায় তিনি তাদেরকে বাবিলের রাজা কলদীয় নবূখদনিত্সরের হাতে সমর্পণ করেন; তিনি এই বাড়ি ধ্বংস করেন এবং লোকদেরকে বাবিলে নিয়ে যান৷
13 but in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree to build this house of God,
১৩কিন্তু বাবিলের রাজা কোরসের প্রথম বছরে কোরস রাজা ঈশ্বরের এই বাড়ি তৈরী করতে আদেশ দিলেন৷
14 and also, the vessels of the house of God, of gold and silver, that Nebuchadnezzar had taken forth out of the temple that [is] in Jerusalem, and brought them to the temple of Babylon, them has Cyrus the king brought forth out of the temple of Babylon, and they have been given to [one], Sheshbazzar [is] his name, whom he made governor,
১৪আর নবূখদনিত্সর ঈশ্বরের বাড়ির যে সব সোনার ও রূপার পাত্র যিরূশালেমের মন্দির থেকে নিয়ে গিয়ে বাবিলের মন্দিরে রেখেছিলেন, সেই সব পাত্র কোরস রাজা বাবিলের মন্দির থেকে বের করে তাঁর নিযুক্ত শেশবসর নামে শাসনকর্ত্তার হাতে সমর্পণ করলেন’
15 and said to him, Lift up these vessels, go, put them down in the temple that [is] in Jerusalem, and the house of God is built on its place.
১৫এবং তাঁকে বললেন, ‘তুমি এই সব পাত্র যিরূশালেমের মন্দিরে নিয়ে গিয়ে সেখানে রাখো এবং ঈশ্বরের বাড়ি নিজের জায়গায় তৈরী হোক৷’
16 Then this Sheshbazzar has come—he has laid the foundations of the house of God that [is] in Jerusalem, and from there even until now it has been building, and is not finished.
১৬তারপর সেই শেশবসর এসে যিরূশালেমে ঈশ্বরের বাড়ির ভীত স্থাপন করলেন; তখন থেকে এখন পর্যন্ত এর গাঁথনি হচ্ছে, কিন্তু শেষ হয়নি৷
17 And now, if it is good to the king, let a search be made in the treasure-house of the king, that [is] there in Babylon, whether it be that there was a decree made by Cyrus the king to build this house of God in Jerusalem, and the will of the king concerning this thing he sends to us.”
১৭অতএব এখন যদি মহারাজের ভালো মনে হয়, তবে কোরস রাজা যিরূশালেমে ঈশ্বরের বাড়ি তৈরী করার আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন কিনা, তা মহারাজের ঐ বাবিলের রাজস্য নথিপত্র খোঁজ করা হোক; পরে মহারাজ এ বিষয়ে আমাদের কাছে আপনার ইচ্ছা বলে পাঠাবেন৷”
