Ezekiel 33
1 And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,
Ergasii dubbiin Waaqayyoo akkana jedhee gara koo dhufe:
2 “Son of man, speak to the sons of your people, and you have said to them: When I bring a sword on a land, And the people of the land have taken one man out of their borders, And made him their watchman,
“Yaa ilma namaa, namoota biyya keetiitti dubbadhuutii akkana jedhiin: ‘Yeroo ani biyya tokkotti goraadee fidutti, sabni biyya sanaa namoota isaa keessaa nama tokko filatee eegduu isa godhatee,
3 And he has seen the sword coming against the land, And has blown with a horn, and has warned the people,
eegduun sun goraadee biyyattiitti dhufaa jiru argee uummata akeekkachiisuuf malakata yeroo afuufutti,
4 And the hearer has heard the voice of the horn, and he has not taken warning, And the sword comes in, and takes him away, His blood is on his [own] head.
yoo namni kam iyyuu sagalee malakataa dhagaʼee garuu akeekkachiisa sana fudhachuu didee goraadeen sun dhufee lubbuu isaa galaafate, dhiigni isaa matuma isaatti deebiʼa.
5 The voice of the horn he heard, And he has not taken warning, his blood is on him, And he who took warning has delivered his soul.
Inni sagalee malakataa dhagaʼee garuu akeekkachiisa waan hin fudhatiniif dhiigni isaa matuma isaatti deebiʼa. Inni utuu akeekkachiisa sana fudhatee jiraatee silaa of baasa ture.
6 And the watchman, when he sees the sword coming in, And he has not blown with a horn, And the people have not been warned, And a sword comes in, And takes away a soul from them, He is taken away in his iniquity, And I require his blood from the hand of the watchman.
Garuu yoo eegduun sun goraadee dhufaa jiru argee namoota akeekkachiisuuf malakata afuufuu baatee goraadeen sun dhufee isaan keessaa lubbuu nama tokkoo galaafate, namichi sun sababii cubbuu isaatiif ajjeefama; eegduu sana garuu sababii dhiiga nama sanaatiif nan gaafadha.’
7 And you, son of man, I gave you [as] a watchman for the house of Israel, And you have heard a word from My mouth, And you have warned them from Me.
“Yaa ilma namaa, ani mana Israaʼeliitiif eegduu si godheera; kanaafuu dubbii ani dubbadhu dhagaʼiitii akeekkachiisa na biraa baʼu isaaniif kenni.
8 In My saying to the wicked, O wicked one—you surely die, And you have not spoken to warn the wicked from his way, He—the wicked—dies in his iniquity, And I require his blood from your hand.
Yeroo ani nama hamaa tokkoon, ‘Yaa namicha hamaa nana, ati dhugumaan ni duuta’ jedhutti, yoo ati akka inni qalbii jijjiirratu akeekkachiisuu baatte namichi hamaan sun cubbuu isaatiin ni duʼa; dhiiga isaa garuu ani harka kee irraa nan barbaada.
9 And you, when you have warned the wicked of his way, to turn back from it, And he has not turned back from his way, He dies in his iniquity, And you have delivered your soul.
Garuu yoo ati nama hamaa sana akka inni karaa isaa irraa deebiʼu akeekkachiiftee inni immoo deebiʼuu baate, inni cubbuu isaatiin ni duʼa; ati garuu lubbuu kee oolfatteerta.
10 And you, son of man, say to the house of Israel: You have spoken correctly, saying, Surely our transgressions and our sins [are] on us, And we are wasting away in them, How, then, do we live?
“Yaa ilma namaa, mana Israaʼeliin akkana jedhi; ‘Isin akkana jettu: “Yakkii fi cubbuun keenya nutti ulfaateera; nuus sababii kanaaf nyaatamnee dhumne. Yoos akkamiin jiraachuu dandeenya ree?”’
11 Say to them, [As] I live—a declaration of Lord YHWH, I do not delight in the death of the wicked, But in the turning of the wicked from his way, and he has lived. Turn back, turn back, from your evil ways! Indeed, why do you die, O house of Israel?
Akkana isaaniin jedhi; ‘Akkuma ani dhugumaan jiraataa taʼe, ani akka namoonni hamoon karaa isaanii irraa deebiʼanii jiraatan malee duʼa isaaniitti hin gammadu, jedha Waaqayyo Gooftaan. Deebiʼaa! Karaa keessan hamaa sana irraa deebiʼaa! Yaa mana Israaʼel isin maaliif duutu?’
12 And you, son of man, say to the sons of your people: The righteousness of the righteous does not deliver him in the day of his transgression, And the wickedness of the wicked, He does not stumble for it in the day of his turning from his wickedness, And the righteous is not able to live in it in the day of his sinning.
“Kanaafuu yaa ilma namaa, namoota biyya keetiitiin akkana jedhi; ‘Qajeelummaan nama qajeelaa yommuu inni ajajamuu didutti isa hin baasu; hamminni nama hamaas yommuu inni hammina isaa irraa deebiʼutti isa hin balleessu. Namni qajeelaan yoo cubbuu hojjete sababii qajeelummaa isaa duraatiif lubbuudhaan hin jiraatu.’
13 In My saying of the righteous: He surely lives, And—he has trusted on his righteousness, And he has done perversity, All his righteous acts are not remembered, And for his perversity that he has done, He dies for it.
Yoo ani nama qajeelaa tokko akka inni dhugumaan jiraatu itti himee, inni garuu qajeelummaa isaa amanatee cubbuu hojjete, waan qajeelaa inni hojjete keessaa tokko iyyuu hin yaadatamu; inni cubbuu hojjete sanaan ni duʼa.
14 And in My saying to the wicked: You surely die, And—he has turned back from his sin, And has done judgment and righteousness,
Yoo ani nama cubbamaa tokkoon, ‘Ati dhugumaan ni duuta’ jedhee inni garuu cubbuu isaa irraa deebiʼee waan sirrii fi waan qajeelaa hojjete jechuunis,
15 (The wicked restores a pledge, he repays [for] plunder), He has walked in the statutes of life, So as not to do perversity, He surely lives—he does not die.
inni yoo qabdii waan liqeesse tokkoof fudhate deebise, yoo waan hate deebise, yoo seera jireenya namaaf kennu duukaa buʼee hammina hojjechuu baate, inni dhugumaan ni jiraata; hin duʼus.
16 All his sin—his sins that he has sinned—are not remembered against him, He has done judgment and righteousness, He surely lives.
Cubbuu namichi sun hojjete keessaa tokko iyyuu isatti hin herregamu. Inni waan sirrii fi qajeelaa hojjeteeraatii, dhugumaan lubbuudhaan ni jiraata.
17 And the sons of your people have said: The way of the Lord is not pondered, As for them—their way is not pondered.
“Taʼus namoonni biyya keetii, ‘Karaan Gooftaa qajeelaa miti’ jedhu. Garuu karaan qajeelaa hin taʼin kanuma isaanii ti.
18 In the turning back of the righteous from his righteousness, And he has done perversity—he dies for it.
Namni qajeelaan yoo qajeelummaa isaa irraa deebiʼee hammina hojjete, inni hammina sanaan ni duʼa.
19 And in the turning back of the wicked from his wickedness, And he has done judgment and righteousness—he lives by them.
Namni hamaan tokko immoo yoo hammina isaa irraa deebiʼee murtii qajeelaa fi waan qajeelaa hojjete, inni waan kana hojjechuu isaatiin ni jiraata.
20 And you have said, The way of the Lord is not pondered; I judge each of you according to his ways, O house of Israel.”
Taʼu illee yaa mana Israaʼel isin, ‘Karaan Gooftaa qajeelaa miti’ jettu. Ani garuu hunda keessanitti akkuma hojii keessaniitti nan mura.”
21 And it comes to pass, in the twelfth year—in the tenth [month], in the fifth of the month—of our removal, one who is escaped from Jerusalem comes to me, saying, “The city has been struck.”
Waggaa kudha lammaffaa boojiʼamuu keenyaatti, jiʼa kurnaffaa keessa, bultii shanaffaatti, namichi Yerusaalemii baqatee baʼe tokko gara koo dhufee, “Magaalattiin kufteerti!” jedhe.
22 And the hand of YHWH has been to me in the evening, before the coming in of the escaped one, and He opens my mouth until [his] coming to me in the morning, and my mouth is opened, and I have not been silent again.
Galgala dhufaatii namichaatiin duraa sana harki Waaqayyoo narra ture; utuu namichi ganamaan gara koo hin dhufinis Waaqni afaan koo bane. Afaan koo banameeraatii ani lammata hin calʼisne.
23 And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,
Ergasii dubbiin Waaqayyoo akkana jedhee gara koo dhufe:
24 “Son of man, the inhabitants of these ruins on the ground of Israel are speaking, saying, Abraham has been alone—and he possesses the land, and we [are] many—the land has been given to us for a possession.
“Yaa ilma namaa, namoonni diigama biyya Israaʼel keessa jiru keessa jiraatan akkana jedhu; ‘Abrahaam namuma tokko ture; taʼus inni biyyattii dhaale. Nu garuu baayʼee dha; biyyattiinis dhugumaan akka nu dhaalluuf nuu kennamteerti.’
25 Therefore say to them, Thus said Lord YHWH: You eat with the blood, And you lift up your eyes to your idols, And you shed blood, Should you then inherit the land?
Kanaafuu akkana isaaniin jedhi; ‘Waaqayyo Gooftaan akkana jedha: Isin foon utuma dhiigni keessa jiruu nyaattu; waaqota keessan tolfamoo abdattu; dhiiga namaas dhangalaaftu; yoos isin biyyattii dhaaluu qabduu?
26 You have stood on your sword, You have done abomination, You have each defiled the wife of his neighbor, Should you then possess the land?
Isin goraadee keessan abdattu; waan jibbisiisaa hojjettu; tokkoon tokkoon keessan niitii ollaa keessanii xureessitu. Yoos isin biyyattii dhaaluu qabduu?’
27 Thus you say to them, Thus said Lord YHWH: [As] I live—do they who [are] in the ruins not fall by the sword? And they who [are] on the face of the field, I have given for food to the beast, And they who are in strongholds and in caves die by pestilence.
“Akkana isaaniin jedhi; ‘Waaqayyo Gooftaan akkana jedha: Ani jiraataadhaatii, warri diigama keessatti hafan goraadeedhaan dhumu; warra baadiyyaa keessa jiran akka isaan nyaatamaniif bineensatti dabarsee nan kenna; warri daʼannoo fi holqa keessa jiraatan immoo dhaʼichaan ni dhumu.
28 And I have made the land a desolation and an astonishment, And the excellence of its strength has ceased, And mountains of Israel have been desolated, Without anyone passing through.
Ani biyyattii onsee duwwaa nan hambisa; humni isheen ittiin of jajjus ni dhuma; gaarran Israaʼelis akka namni tokko iyyuu irra hin qaxxaamurreef qullaa hafu.
29 And they have known that I [am] YHWH, In My making the land a desolation and an astonishment, For all their abominations that they have done.
Yeroo ani sababii wantoota jibbisiisoo isaan hojjetan hundaatiif biyyattii onsee duwwaa hambisutti, isaan akka ani Waaqayyo taʼe ni beeku.’
30 And you, son of man, The sons of your people who are speaking about you, By the walls, and in openings of the houses, Have spoken with one another, each with his brother, Saying, Please come in, And hear what the word [is] that comes out from YHWH.
“Waaʼee kee immoo yaa ilma namaa, namoonni biyya keetii keenyan manaa birattii fi balbala duratti waaʼee kee dubbachaa, ‘Kottaa dhaqnee ergaa Waaqayyo biraa dhufe dhageenyaa’ waliin jedhu.
31 And they come in to you as the coming in of a people, And they sit before you—My people, And have heard your words, and they do not do them, For they are making unhealthy loves with their mouth, Their heart is going after their dishonest gain.
Sabni koo akkuma yeroo kaaniitti gara kee dhufanii dubbii kee dhagaʼuudhaaf fuula kee dura tataaʼu; isaan garuu waan sana hojiidhaan hin argisiisan. Isaan afaan isaaniitiin jaalala guddaa dubbatu; garaan isaanii garuu buʼaa hin malle argachuuf gaggaba.
32 And behold, you [are] as a singer of unhealthy loves to them, A beautiful voice, and playing well on an instrument, And they have heard your words, and they are not doing them.
Dhugumaan ati isaaniif nama sagalee gaariidhaan sirba jaalalaa sirbee meeshaa sirbaa taphatu irra hin jirtuutii; isaan dubbii kee ni dhagaʼu malee hojiidhaan hin argisiisaniitii.
33 And in its coming in—behold, it has come, And they have known that a prophet has been in their midst!”
“Yeroo wanni kun taʼutti, dhugumaan ni taʼaatii isaan gaafas akka raajiin gidduu isaanii ture ni beeku.”
