Ezekiel 31
1 And it comes to pass, in the eleventh year, in the third [month], on the first of the month, a word of YHWH has been to me, saying,
E sucedeu, no ano undécimo, no terceiro mes, ao primeiro do mes, que veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:
2 “Son of man, say to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude: To whom have you been like in your greatness?
Filho do homem, dize a faraó, rei do Egito, e à sua multidão: A quem és semelhante na tua grandeza?
3 Behold, Asshur, a cedar in Lebanon, Beautiful in branch, and shading bough, and high in stature, And its foliage has been between thickets.
Eis que a Assyria era um cedro no líbano, de ramos formosos, sombrio de ramagem e de alta estatura, e entre os ramos espessos estava a sua copa.
4 Waters have made it great, The deep has exalted him with its flowings, Going around its planting, And it has sent forth its conduits to all trees of the field.
As águas o fizeram crescer, o abismo o exalçou: com as suas correntes corria em torno do seu plantio, e enviava os regatos a todas as árvores do campo.
5 Therefore his stature has been higher than all trees of the field, And his boughs are multiplied, and his branches are long, Because of many waters in his shooting forth.
Por isso se elevou a sua estatura sobre todas as árvores do campo, e se multiplicaram os seus ramos, e se alongaram as suas varas, por causa das muitas águas que enviava.
6 Every bird of the heavens has made a nest in his boughs, And every beast of the field has brought forth under his branches, And all great nations dwell in his shade.
Todas as aves do céu se aninhavam nos seus ramos, e todos os animais do campo geravam debaixo dos seus ramos, e todos os grandes povos se assentavam à sua sombra.
7 And he is beautiful in his greatness, In the length of his thin shoots, For his root has been by great waters.
Assim era ele formoso na sua grandeza, na extensão dos seus ramos, porque a sua raiz estava junto às muitas águas.
8 Cedars have not hid him in the garden of God, Firs have not been like to his boughs, And plane-trees have not been as his branches, No tree in the garden of God has been like to him in his beauty,
Os cedros não o escureciam no jardim de Deus; as faias não igualavam os seus ramos, e os castanheiros não eram como os seus renovos: nenhuma árvore no jardim de Deus se assimilhou a ele na sua formosura.
9 I have made him beautiful in the multitude of his thin shoots, And all trees of Eden that [are] in the garden of God envy him.
Formoso o fiz com a multidão dos seus ramos; e todas as árvores do Éden, que estavam no jardim de Deus, tiveram inveja dele.
10 Therefore, thus said Lord YHWH: Because that you have been high in stature, And he yields his foliage between thickets, And his heart is high in his haughtiness,
Portanto assim diz o Senhor Jehovah: Porquanto te elevaste na tua estatura, e se levantou a sua copa no meio dos espessos ramos, e o seu coração se exalçou na sua altura,
11 I give him into the hand of a god of nations, He deals severely with him, In his wickedness I have cast him out.
Portanto o entreguei na mão da mais poderosa das nações, para que o tratasse com o tratamento merecido; pela sua impiedade o lançarei fora.
12 And strangers cut him off, The terrible of nations, and they leave him, His thin shoots have fallen on the mountains and in all valleys, And his boughs are broken at all streams of the land, And all peoples of the land go down from his shade, and they leave him.
E uns estranhos o exterminaram, os mais formidáveis das nações, e o deixaram: cairam os seus ramos sobre os montes e por todos os vales, e os seus renovos foram quebrados por todas as correntes da terra; e todos os povos da terra se retiraram da sua sombra, e o deixaram.
13 Every bird of the heavens dwells on his ruin, And all beasts of the field have been on his boughs,
Todas as aves do céu habitavam sobre a sua ruína, e todos os animais do campo se acolheram sob os seus renovos;
14 In order that none of the trees of the waters May become haughty because of their stature, Nor give their foliage between thickets, Nor any drinking waters stand up to them in their haughtiness, For all of them are given up to death, To the lower earth, In the midst of the sons of men, To those going down to the pit.
Para que todas as árvores das águas não se elevem na sua estatura, nem levantem a sua copa no meio dos ramos espessos, nem todas as que bebem as águas venham a confiar em si, por causa da sua altura; porque já todos estão entregues à morte, até à terra mais baixa, no meio dos filhos dos homens, com os que descem à cova.
15 Thus said Lord YHWH: I have caused mourning in the day of his going down to Sheol, I have covered the deep over him, and diminish its flowings, And many waters are restrained, And I make Lebanon black for him, And all trees of the field [have been] a covering for him. (Sheol h7585)
Assim diz o Senhor Jehovah: No dia em que ele desceu ao inferno, fiz eu que houvesse luto; fiz cobrir o abismo, por sua causa, e retive as suas correntes, e se coibiram; e cobri o líbano de preto por causa dele, e todas as árvores do campo por causa dele desfaleceram. (Sheol h7585)
16 I have caused nations to shake at the sound of his fall, In My causing him to go down to Sheol, With those going down to the pit, And all trees of Eden are comforted in the lower earth, The choice and good of Lebanon—All drinking waters. (Sheol h7585)
Ao som da sua queda fiz tremer as nações, quando o fiz descer ao inferno com os que descem à cova; e todas as árvores do Éden, a flor e o melhor do líbano, todas as árvores que bebem águas, se consolavam na terra mais baixa. (Sheol h7585)
17 Those with him have also gone down to Sheol, To the pierced of the sword, And—his arm—they dwelt in his shade in the midst of nations. (Sheol h7585)
Também estes com eles descerão ao inferno, aos que foram traspassados à espada, e os que foram seu braço, e que estavam assentados à sombra no meio das nações. (Sheol h7585)
18 To whom have you been thus like, In glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? And you have been brought down with the trees of Eden, To the lower earth, You lie in the midst of the uncircumcised, With the pierced of the sword. This [is] Pharaoh, and all his multitude, A declaration of Lord YHWH!”
A quem pois és assim semelhante em glória e em grandeza entre as árvores do Éden? antes serás derribado com as árvores do Éden à terra mais baixa; no meio dos incircuncisos jazerás com os que foram traspassados à espada: este é faraó e toda a sua multidão, diz o Senhor Jehovah
