< Ezekiel 21 >
1 And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,
Pea naʻe hoko mai kiate au ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē,
2 “Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and prophesy to the holy places, and prophesy to the ground of Israel;
“Foha ʻoe tangata, fakahangatonu ho mata ki Selūsalema, pea tuku hoʻo lea ki he ngaahi potu tapu, pea kikite ki he fonua ʻo ʻIsileli,
3 and you have said to the ground of Israel, Thus said YHWH: Behold, I [am] against you, And have brought out My sword from its scabbard, And have cut off righteous and wicked from you.
4 Because that I have cut off righteous and wicked from you, Therefore My sword goes out from its scabbard, To all flesh, from south to north.
Pea ko ia, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻeku motuhi meiate koe ʻae māʻoniʻoni pea mo e angahala, ko ia, ʻe ʻalu atu ai ʻae heletā mei hono ʻaiʻanga, ki he kakano kotoa pē, mei he feituʻu tonga ʻo aʻu ki he tokelau:
5 And all flesh has known that I, YHWH, Have brought out My sword from its scabbard, It does not turn back anymore.
Koeʻuhi ke ʻilo ʻe he kakano kotoa pē, ko au, Sihova, kuo u unuhi ʻeku heletā mei hono ʻaiʻanga: pea ʻe ʻikai toe foki mai ia.”’
6 And you, son of man, sigh with breaking of loins, indeed, sigh before their eyes with bitterness,
“Ko ia ʻe foha ʻoe tangata, ke ke toʻetoʻe ʻi honau ʻao, ʻi he langa ho fatu pea mo e mamahi.
7 and it has come to pass, when they say to you, Why are you sighing? That you have said: Because of the report, for it is coming, And every heart has melted, And all hands have been feeble, And every spirit is weak, And all knees go [as] waters, Behold, it is coming, indeed, it has been, A declaration of Lord YHWH.”
Pea ʻe pehē, ʻoka nau ka lea kiate koe, ‘Ko e hā ʻoku ke toʻe ai?’ Te ke tali, ʻo pehē, ‘Koeʻuhi ko e ongoongo; koeʻuhi ʻoku haʻu ia: pea ʻe molū ʻae loto kotoa pē, pea ʻe vaivai ʻae nima kotoa pē, pea ʻe pongia ʻae laumālie kotoa pē, pea ʻe hangē ko e vai ʻae tui kotoa pē: vakai, ʻoku haʻu ia, pea ʻe fakahoko ia,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua.’”
8 And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,
Pea naʻe toe hoko mai kiate au ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē,
9 “Son of man, prophesy, and you have said, Thus said YHWH: Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also polished.
“Foha ʻoe tangata, kikite, pea ke pehē, ‘ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; Lea, “ko e heletā, ko e heletā, kuo fakamāsila, pea kuo fakangingila ia foki:
10 It is sharpened so as to slaughter a slaughter. It is polished so as to have brightness, Or do we rejoice? It is despising the scepter of My son [as] every tree.
Kuo fakamāsila ia ke tāmate fakamanavahē; kuo fakangingila ia koeʻuhi ke ulo; pea ʻoku taau ai ia koā mo ʻetau fakavā? ʻOku taʻemamae ia ki he tokotoko ʻa hoku foha ʻo hangē ko e ʻakau kehe kotoa pē.
11 And He gives it for polishing, For laying hold of by the hand. It is sharpened—the sword—and polished, To give it into the hand of a slayer.
Pea kuo ne ʻatu ia ke fakangingila, koeʻuhi ke ngāue aki: kuo fakamāsila mo fakangingila ʻae heletā ni koeʻuhi ke ʻai ia ki he nima ʻoe tangata tāmate.”’
12 Cry and howl, son of man, For it has been among My people, It [is] among all the princes of Israel, My people have been cast to the sword. Therefore strike on your thigh,
Tangi mo ʻioho, ʻe foha ʻoe tangata: koeʻuhi ʻe hoko ia ki hoku kakai, ʻe hoko ia ki he houʻeiki kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli: ʻe tō ʻae manavahē ki hoku kakai, ko e meʻa ʻi he heletā: ko ia ke ke si tenga.
13 Because [it is] a trier, And what if it is even despising the scepter? It will not be, a declaration of Lord YHWH.
“Koeʻuhi ko e meʻa ʻahiʻahi ia; pea ko e hā ʻoka taʻemamae [ʻae heletā ]ki he tokotoko?” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, “ʻe ʻikai toe ʻi ai ia.
14 And you, son of man, prophesy, And strike hand on hand, And the sword is bent a third time, The sword of the wounded! It [is] the sword of the wounded—the great one, That is entering the inner chamber to them.
“Ko ia foki, ʻe foha ʻoe tangata, kikite, pea pasi ho nima, pea tuku ke foki mai ʻae heletā ko hono liunga tolu, ʻae heletā ʻoe tāmate: ko e heletā ia ʻoe kau tau kuo tāmateʻi, ko ia ia ʻoku hū atu ki honau ngaahi potu fale fakalilolilo.
15 To melt the heart, and to multiply the ruins, I have set the point of a sword by all their gates. Aah! It is made for brightness, Wrapped up for slaughter.
Kuo u ʻai ʻae muʻa heletā ki honau ngaahi matapā, koeʻuhi ke vaivai ai honau loto, pea fakalahi ai honau maumauʻi: ʻOiauē! Kuo fakangingila, pea kuo fakamata ia ki he tāmate.
16 Take possession of the right, place yourself at the left, To where your face is appointed.
ʻAlu atu pe koe, ʻi ha hala, ki he nima toʻomataʻu, pe ki he toʻohema, ha potu pe ʻoku fakahanga ki ai ho mata.
17 And I also, I strike My hand on My hand, And have caused My fury to rest; I, YHWH, have spoken.”
Te u pasi tataha ʻeau, hoku nima; pea te u fakahoko kiate koe ʻa hoku tuputāmaki: Ko au Sihova, kuo u lea ʻaki eni.”
18 And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,
Naʻe toe hoko foki kiate au ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē,
19 “And you, son of man, appoint two ways for yourself, for the coming in of the sword of the king of Babylon; they come forth from one land, both of them. And create a station; create [it] at the top of the way of the city.
“Ko eni foki, ʻe foha ʻoe tangata, tuʻutuʻuni ʻe koe ʻae hala ʻe ua, koeʻuhi ke haʻu ai ʻae heletā ʻoe tuʻi ʻo Papilone; ʻe ʻalu atu fakatouʻosi mei he fonua pe taha: pea ke fili ʻe koe ha potu, fili ia ʻi he tefito hala ʻaia ʻoku fakatau ki he kolo.
20 Appoint a way for the coming of the sword, To Rabbath of the sons of Ammon, And to Judah, in fortified Jerusalem.
Tuʻutuʻuni ha hala, koeʻuhi ke haʻu ai ʻae heletā ki Lapata ʻoe kau ʻAmoni, pea ki Siuta ʻi Selūsalema ʻaia kuo ʻāʻi.
21 For the king of Babylon has stood at the head of the way, At the top of the two ways, to use divination, He has moved lightly with the arrows, He has inquired of the teraphim, He has looked on the liver.
He naʻe tuʻu ʻae tuʻi ʻo Papilone ʻi he mangaʻi hala, ʻi he tefito ʻoe hala ʻe ua, ke talotalo: naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae ngahau ngingila, naʻa ne fakaongo ki he tamapua, pea naʻa ne sio ki he ʻate.
22 The divination [for] Jerusalem has been at his right, To place battering-rams, To open the mouth with slaughter, To lift up a voice with shouting, To place battering-rams against the gates, To pour out a mound, to build a fortification.
Naʻe ʻi hono nima toʻomataʻu ʻae talotalo koeʻuhi ko Selūsalema, ke fokotuʻu ʻae ngaahi ʻeikitau, ke fakamanga ʻae ngutu ʻi he tāmate, ke hiki hake ʻae leʻo ʻo kalanga, ke fokotuʻu ki hono ngaahi matapā ʻae ʻuluʻi sipi, ke tanu puke, pea ke langa ʻae kolo.
23 And it has been to them as a false divination in their eyes, Who have sworn oaths to them, But he is causing iniquity to be remembered [so they] are caught.
Pea ʻe hangē ia kiate kinautolu ʻoku taʻaloʻalo loi, ʻi honau ʻao, kiate kinautolu kuo fai ʻae fuakava; ka te ne fakamanatuʻi ʻae angahala ka nau moʻua.
24 Therefore, thus said Lord YHWH: Because of your causing your iniquity to be remembered, In your transgressions being revealed, For your sins being seen, in all your doings, Because of your being remembered, You are caught by the hand.
“Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; Koeʻuhi kuo mou fai ke manatuʻi ʻa hoʻomou hia, ko e meʻa ʻi he hā mai ʻa hoʻomou fai kovi, ko ia kuo ha hoʻo angahala ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku ke fai; koeʻuhi, kuo manatuʻi ʻakimoutolu, ko ia ʻe puke nima ai ʻakimoutolu.
25 And you, wounded, wicked one, Prince of Israel, whose day has come, In the time of the iniquity of the end,
“‘Pea ko koe, ʻae ʻeiki fakalielia mo angahala ʻi ʻIsileli, ʻaia kuo hoko hono ʻaho, ʻoka kakato ʻae fai angahala,
26 Thus said Lord YHWH: Turn aside the turban, and carry away the crown, This—not this—make high the low, And make low the high.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; “Toʻo ʻae pale, pea toʻo ʻo ʻave mo e tatā fakatuʻi: ʻe ʻikai kei pehē ni; ka ʻe hakeakiʻi ia ʻaia ʻoku māʻulalo, pea fakatōkilalo ʻaia ʻoku māʻolunga.
27 An overturn, overturn, overturn, I make it, Also this has not been until the coming of Him, Whose [is] the judgment, and I have given it.
Te u fulihi, fulihi, fulihi ia: pea ʻe ʻikai kei ʻi ai ia, kaeʻoua ke hoko mai ia ʻaia ʻoku totonu ke ne maʻu; pea te u foaki ia kiate ia.”’
28 And you, son of man, prophesy, and you have said, Thus said Lord YHWH concerning the sons of Ammon, and concerning their reproach, and you have said: A sword, a sword, open for slaughter, Polished to the utmost for brightness!
“Pea ko koe, Foha ʻoe tangata, kikite pea ke pehē, ‘ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, ko e meʻa ki he kau ʻAmoni, pea ʻoku kau ki honau manukiʻi; ʻio, ke ke pehē ʻe koe, ‘Ko e heletā, ko e heletā kuo unuhi; kuo fakangingila ia ki ho tāmateʻi, he fakaʻauha ʻi heʻene ulo:
29 In seeing a vain thing for you, In divining a lie for you, To put you on the necks of the wounded of the wicked, whose day has come, In the time of the iniquity of the end.
Lolotonga pe ʻoku nau kikite vaʻinga kiate koe, mo nau talotalo loi kiate koe, koeʻuhi ke ʻomi koe ki he kia ʻonautolu kuo tāmateʻi, ʻae angahala, ʻakinautolu kuo hokosia honau ʻaho ʻoka kakato ʻenau angahala.
30 Turn [it] back to its scabbard; I judge you In the place where you were produced, In the land of your birth.
He te u fakafoki ia ki hono ʻaiʻanga? Te u fakamaauʻi koe ʻi he potu naʻe ngaohi ai koe, ʻi he fonua naʻa ke fanauʻi ai.
31 And I have poured My indignation on you, I blow against you with [the] fire of My wrath, And have given you into the hand of brutish men—craftsmen of destruction.
Pea te u lilingi atu hoku houhau kiate koe, te u ifi koe ʻi he kakaha ʻo hoku houhau, pea te u tukuange koe ki he nima ʻoe kakai fai kakaha mo poto, ke fakaʻauha koe.
32 You are fuel for the fire, Your blood is in the midst of the land, You are not remembered, For I, YHWH, have spoken!”
Te ke hoko koe ko e fefie ki he afi; ʻe ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe fonua ho toto; pea ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito toe manatuʻi koe: he ko au ko Sihova, kuo u lea ki ai.”’”
