Exodus 8
1 And YHWH says to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, and you have said to him, Thus said YHWH: Send My people away, and they serve Me;
Sitten Herra sanoi Moosekselle: "Mene faraon luo ja sano hänelle: 'Näin sanoo Herra: Päästä minun kansani palvelemaan minua.
2 and if you are refusing to send [them] away, behold, I am striking all your border with frogs;
Mutta jos kieltäydyt päästämästä heitä, niin katso, minä rankaisen koko sinun maatasi sammakoilla.
3 and the River has teemed [with] frogs, and they have gone up and gone into your house, and into the inner-chamber of your bed, and on your couch, and into the house of your servants, and among your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading-troughs;
Ja Niilivirta on vilisevä sammakoita, ja ne nousevat maalle ja tulevat sinun taloosi ja makuuhuoneeseesi ja vuoteeseesi, sekä sinun palvelijaisi taloihin ja kansasi sekaan, sinun leivinuuneihisi ja taikinakaukaloihisi.
4 indeed, on you, and on your people, and on all your servants the frogs go up.”
Jopa sinun ja sinun kansasi ja kaikkien sinun palvelijaisi päälle hyppii sammakoita.'"
5 And YHWH says to Moses, “Say to Aaron, Stretch out your hand, with your rod, against the streams, against the rivers, and against the ponds, and cause the frogs to come up against the land of Egypt.”
Ja Herra sanoi Moosekselle: "Sano Aaronille: 'Ojenna kätesi sauvoinensa jokien, kanavien ja lammikkojen yli ja nostata sammakoita Egyptin maahan'".
6 And Aaron stretches out his hand against the waters of Egypt, and the frog comes up, and covers the land of Egypt;
Niin Aaron ojensi kätensä Egyptin vetten yli, ja sammakoita nousi, ja ne peittivät Egyptin maan.
7 and the enchanters do so with their secrets, and cause the frogs to come up against the land of Egypt.
Ja tietäjät tekivät samoin taioillansa ja nostattivat sammakoita Egyptin maahan.
8 And Pharaoh calls for Moses and for Aaron and says, “Make supplication to YHWH, that he may turn aside the frogs from me, and from my people, and I send the people away, and they sacrifice to YHWH.”
Niin farao kutsui Mooseksen ja Aaronin ja sanoi: "Rukoilkaa Herraa, että hän ottaisi pois sammakot vaivaamasta minua ja minun kansaani, niin minä päästän kansan uhraamaan Herralle".
9 And Moses says to Pharaoh, “Beautify yourself over me; when do I make supplication for you, and for your servants, and for your people, to cut off the frogs from you and from your houses—only in the River they remain?”
Mooses sanoi faraolle: "Suvaitse määrätä minulle aika, jonka kuluessa minun on rukoiltava, sinun itsesi, sinun palvelijaisi ja kansasi puolesta, sammakot hävitettäviksi luotasi ja taloistasi, niin että niitä jää ainoastaan Niilivirtaan".
10 And he says, “Tomorrow.” And he says, “According to your word [it is], so that you know that there is none like our God YHWH,
Hän vastasi: "Huomiseksi". Niin Mooses sanoi: "Tapahtukoon, niinkuin sanoit, tietääksesi, ettei kukaan ole niinkuin Herra, meidän Jumalamme.
11 and the frogs have turned aside from you, and from your houses, and from your servants, and from your people; only in the River they remain.”
Sammakot katoavat luotasi ja taloistasi ja sinun palvelijaisi ja kansasi luota, ja niitä jää ainoastaan Niilivirtaan."
12 And Moses—Aaron also—goes out from Pharaoh, and Moses cries to YHWH concerning the matter of the frogs which He has set on Pharaoh;
Niin Mooses ja Aaron lähtivät faraon luota. Ja Mooses huusi Herran puoleen sammakkojen tähden, jotka hän oli pannut faraon vaivaksi.
13 and YHWH does according to the word of Moses, and the frogs die out of the houses, out of the courts, and out of the fields,
Ja Herra teki Mooseksen sanan mukaan: sammakot kuolivat huoneista, pihoilta ja kedoilta.
14 and they heap them up together, and the land stinks.
Ja he kokosivat niitä läjittäin, ja maa rupesi haisemaan.
15 And Pharaoh sees that there has been a respite, and he has hardened his heart, and has not listened to them, as YHWH has spoken.
Mutta kun farao näki päässeensä hengähtämään, kovensi hän sydämensä eikä kuullut heitä, niinkuin Herra oli sanonutkin.
16 And YHWH says to Moses, “Say to Aaron, Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the land, and it has become gnats in all the land of Egypt.”
Sitten Herra sanoi Moosekselle: "Sano Aaronille: 'Ojenna sauvasi ja lyö maan tomua, niin siitä tulee sääskiä koko Egyptin maahan'".
17 And they do so, and Aaron stretches out his hand with his rod, and strikes the dust of the land, and the gnats are on man and on beast; all the dust of the land has been gnats in all the land of Egypt.
Ja he tekivät niin: Aaron ojensi kätensä ja sauvansa ja löi maan tomua; niin sääsket ahdistivat ihmisiä ja karjaa. Kaikki maan tomu muuttui sääskiksi koko Egyptin maassa.
18 And the enchanters do so with their secrets, to bring out the gnats, and they have not been able, and the gnats are on man and on beast;
Ja tietäjät tekivät samoin taioillansa saadakseen sääskiä syntymään, mutta he eivät voineet. Ja sääsket ahdistivat ihmisiä ja karjaa.
19 and the enchanters say to Pharaoh, “It [is] the finger of God”; and the heart of Pharaoh is strong, and he has not listened to them, as YHWH has spoken.
Niin tietäjät sanoivat faraolle: "Tämä on Jumalan sormi". Mutta faraon sydän paatui, eikä hän kuullut heitä, niinkuin Herra oli sanonutkin.
20 And YHWH says to Moses, “Rise early in the morning, and station yourself before Pharaoh, behold, he is going out to the waters, and you have said to him, Thus said YHWH: Send My people away, and they serve Me;
Ja Herra sanoi Moosekselle: "Astu huomenaamuna varhain faraon eteen, kun hän menee veden luo, ja sano hänelle: 'Näin sanoo Herra: Päästä minun kansani palvelemaan minua.
21 for if you are not sending My people away, behold, I am sending against you, and against your servants, and against your people, and against your houses, the beetle, and the houses of the Egyptians have been full of the beetle, and also the ground on which they are.
Sillä jos et päästä minun kansaani, niin katso, minä lähetän paarmoja sinun, sinun palvelijaisi ja sinun kansasi kimppuun ja sinun taloihisi, niin että egyptiläisten talot, jopa se maa, jonka päällä ne ovat, tulevat paarmoja täyteen.
22 And I have separated in that day the land of Goshen, in which My people are staying, that the beetle is not there, so that you know that I [am] YHWH in the midst of the land,
Mutta minä erotan sinä päivänä Goosenin maan, jossa minun kansani asuu, ettei sinne paarmoja tule, tietääksesi, että minä olen maan Herra.
23 and I have put a division between My people and your people; this sign is tomorrow.”
Näin minä panen pelastuksen erottamaan oman kansani sinun kansastasi. Huomenna on tämä ihme tapahtuva.'"
24 And YHWH does so, and the grievous beetle enters the house of Pharaoh, and the house of his servants, and in all the land of Egypt the land is corrupted from the presence of the beetle.
Ja Herra teki niin: paarmoja tuli suuret parvet faraon ja hänen palvelijainsa taloihin; ja paarmat tulivat maan turmioksi koko Egyptin maassa.
25 And Pharaoh calls to Moses and to Aaron and says, “Go, sacrifice to your God in the land”;
Niin farao kutsutti Mooseksen ja Aaronin ja sanoi: "Menkää ja uhratkaa Jumalallenne tässä maassa".
26 and Moses says, “[It is] not right to do so—for us to sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to our God YHWH; behold, we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes—and they do not stone us!
Mutta Mooses sanoi: "Ei sovi niin tehdä; sillä me uhraamme Herralle, Jumalallemme, sellaista, joka on egyptiläisille kauhistus. Jos me nyt uhraamme egyptiläisten nähden sellaista, joka on heille kauhistus, niin eivätkö he kivitä meitä?
27 We go a journey of three days into the wilderness and have sacrificed to our God YHWH as He says to us.”
Salli meidän mennä kolmen päivän matka erämaahan uhraamaan Herralle, Jumalallemme, niinkuin hän on meille sanonut."
28 And Pharaoh says, “I send you away, and you have sacrificed to your God YHWH in the wilderness, only do not go very far off; make supplication for me”;
Farao sanoi: "Minä päästän teidät uhraamaan Herralle, Jumalallenne, erämaassa; älkää vain menkö kovin kauas. Rukoilkaa minun puolestani."
29 and Moses says, “Behold, I am going out from you, and have made supplication to YHWH, and tomorrow the beetle has turned aside from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people; only, do not let Pharaoh add to deceive in not sending the people away to sacrifice to YHWH.”
Niin Mooses sanoi: "Katso, kun olen lähtenyt sinun luotasi, rukoilen minä Herraa, ja paarmat häviävät pois huomenna faraolta, hänen palvelijoiltansa ja hänen kansaltaan. Älköön vain farao enää pettäkö, niin ettei hän päästäkään kansaa uhraamaan Herralle."
30 And Moses goes out from Pharaoh, and makes supplication to YHWH,
Ja Mooses lähti faraon luota ja rukoili Herraa.
31 and YHWH does according to the word of Moses, and turns aside the beetle from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people—there has not been one left;
Ja Herra teki, niinkuin Mooses oli sanonut: hän vapautti faraon, hänen palvelijansa ja hänen kansansa paarmoista, niin ettei niitä jäänyt ainoatakaan.
32 and Pharaoh also hardens his heart at this time, and has not sent the people away.
Mutta farao kovensi sydämensä tälläkin kerralla eikä päästänyt kansaa.
