Exodus 5
1 And afterward Moses and Aaron have entered, and they say to Pharaoh, “Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: Send My people away, and they keep a celebration for Me in the wilderness”;
Después de esto Moisés y Aarón entraron al Faraón, y le dijeron: El SEÑOR Dios de Israel, dice así: Deja ir a mi pueblo a celebrarme fiesta en el desierto.
2 and Pharaoh says, “Who [is] YHWH, that I listen to His voice to send Israel away? I have not known YHWH, and I also do not send Israel away.”
Y el Faraón respondió: ¿Quién es el SEÑOR, para que yo oiga su voz y deje ir a Israel? Yo no conozco al SEÑOR, ni tampoco dejaré ir a Israel.
3 And they say, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us; please let us go a journey of three days into the wilderness, and we sacrifice to our God YHWH, lest He meet us with pestilence or with sword.”
Y ellos dijeron: El Dios de los hebreos nos ha encontrado; por tanto nosotros iremos ahora camino de tres días por el desierto, y sacrificaremos al SEÑOR nuestro Dios; para que no nos encuentre con pestilencia o con espada.
4 And the king of Egypt says to them, “Why, Moses and Aaron, do you free the people from its works? Go to your burdens.”
Entonces el rey de Egipto les dijo: Moisés y Aarón, ¿por qué hacéis cesar al pueblo de su obra? Idos a vuestros cargos.
5 Pharaoh also says, “Behold, the people of the land [are] numerous now, and you have caused them to cease from their burdens!”
Dijo también el Faraón: He aquí el pueblo de la tierra es ahora mucho, y vosotros les hacéis cesar de sus cargos.
6 And on that day Pharaoh commands the exactors among the people and its authorities, saying,
Y mandó el Faraón aquel mismo día a los cuadrilleros del pueblo que tenían el cargo del pueblo, y a los gobernadores, diciendo:
7 “You do not add to give straw to the people for the making of the bricks as before—they go and have gathered straw for themselves;
De aquí en adelante no daréis hornija al pueblo para hacer ladrillo, como ayer y antes de ayer; vayan ellos y recojan hornija por sí mismos.
8 and you put on them the proper quantity of the bricks which they are making before, you do not diminish from it, for they are remiss, therefore they are crying, saying, Let us go, let us sacrifice to our God;
Y habéis de ponerles la tarea del ladrillo que hacían antes, y no les disminuiréis nada; porque están ociosos, y por eso levantan la voz diciendo: Vamos y sacrificaremos a nuestro Dios.
9 let the service be heavy on the men, and let them work at it, and not be dazzled by lying words.”
Agrávese la servidumbre sobre ellos, para que se ocupen en ella, y no atiendan a palabras de mentira.
10 And the exactors of the people, and its authorities, go out, and speak to the people, saying, “Thus said Pharaoh: I do not give you straw,
Y saliendo los cuadrilleros del pueblo y sus gobernadores, hablaron al pueblo, diciendo: Así ha dicho el Faraón: Yo no os doy hornija.
11 you—go, take straw for yourselves where you can find [it], for there is nothing diminished of your service.”
Id vosotros, y recoged hornija donde la hallareis; que nada se disminuirá de vuestra tarea.
12 And the people are scattered over all the land of Egypt, to gather stubble for straw,
Entonces el pueblo se derramó por toda la tierra de Egipto a coger rastrojo para hornija.
13 and the exactors are making haste, saying, “Complete your works, the matter of a day in its day, as when there is straw.”
Y los cuadrilleros los apremiaban, diciendo: Acabad vuestra obra, la tarea del día en su día, como cuando se os daba hornija.
14 And the authorities of the sons of Israel, whom the exactors of Pharaoh have placed over them, are beaten, saying, “Why have you not completed your portion in making brick as before, both yesterday and today?”
Y azotaban a los gobernadores de los hijos de Israel, que los cuadrilleros del Faraón habían puesto sobre ellos, diciendo: ¿Por qué no habéis cumplido vuestra tarea de ladrillo ni ayer ni hoy, como antes?
15 And the authorities of the sons of Israel come in and cry to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you do thus to your servants?
Y los gobernadores de los hijos de Israel vinieron y se quejaron al Faraón, diciendo: ¿Por qué lo haces así con tus siervos?
16 Straw is not given to your servants, and they are saying to us, Make bricks, and behold, your servants are struck—and your people have sinned.”
No se da hornija a tus siervos, y con todo eso nos dicen: Haced el ladrillo. Y he aquí tus siervos son azotados, y tu pueblo peca.
17 And he says, “Remiss—you are remiss, therefore you are saying, Let us go, let us sacrifice to YHWH;
Y él respondió: Estáis ociosos, sí, ociosos, y por eso decís: Vamos y sacrifiquemos al SEÑOR.
18 and now, go, serve; and straw is not given to you, and you give the [required] measure of bricks.”
Id pues ahora, y trabajad. No se os dará hornija, y habéis de dar la tarea del ladrillo.
19 And the authorities of the sons of Israel see them in affliction, saying, “You do not diminish from your bricks; the matter of a day in its day.”
Entonces los gobernadores de los hijos de Israel se vieron en aflicción, habiéndoseles dicho: No se disminuirá nada de vuestro ladrillo, de la tarea de cada día.
20 And they meet Moses and Aaron standing to meet them in their coming out from Pharaoh,
Y encontrando a Moisés y a Aarón, que estaban delante de ellos cuando salían del Faraón,
21 and say to them, “YHWH look on you, and judge, because you have caused our fragrance to stink in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants—to give a sword into their hand to slay us.”
les dijeron: Mire el SEÑOR sobre vosotros, y juzgue; pues habéis hecho heder nuestro olor delante del Faraón y de sus siervos, dándoles el cuchillo en las manos para que nos maten.
22 And Moses turns back to YHWH and says, “Lord, why have You done evil to this people? Why [is] this [that] You have sent me?
Entonces Moisés se volvió al SEÑOR, y dijo: Señor, ¿por qué afliges a este pueblo? ¿Para qué me enviaste?
23 And since I have come to Pharaoh to speak in Your Name, he has done evil to this people, and You have not delivered Your people at all.”
Porque desde que yo vine al Faraón para hablarle en tu Nombre, ha afligido a este pueblo; y tú tampoco has librado a tu pueblo.
