Exodus 4

1 And Moses answers and says, “And if they do not give credence to me, nor listen to my voice, and say, YHWH has not appeared to you?”

അതിന് മോശ, “അവർ എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയോ എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാതെ ‘യഹോവ നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിട്ടില്ല’ എന്നു പറയും” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

2 And YHWH says to him, “What [is] this in your hand?” And he says, “A rod”;

അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ അവനോട്, “നിന്റെ കൈയിലിരിക്കുന്നത് എന്ത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ഒരു വടി,” അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

3 and He says, “Cast it to the earth”; and he casts it to the earth, and it becomes a serpent—and Moses flees from its presence.

“അതു നിലത്തിടുക,” എന്ന് യഹോവ കൽപ്പിച്ചു. മോശ അതു നിലത്തിട്ടു. അതൊരു പാമ്പായിത്തീർന്നു. അവൻ അതിന്റെ അടുത്തുനിന്ന് ഓടിമാറി.

4 And YHWH says to Moses, “Put forth your hand, and lay hold on the tail of it”; and he puts forth his hand, and lays hold on it, and it becomes a rod in his hand—

പിന്നെ യഹോവ അവനോട്, “നീ കൈനീട്ടി അതിനെ വാലിൽ പിടിച്ച് എടുക്കുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ മോശ കൈനീട്ടി പാമ്പിനെ പിടിച്ചു; അത് അവന്റെ കൈയിൽ വീണ്ടും വടിയായിത്തീർന്നു.

5 “so that they believe that YHWH, God of their fathers, has appeared to you, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob.”

“ഇത്, അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ—അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവും യാക്കോബിന്റെ ദൈവവും—നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിനുതന്നെ,” എന്നു ദൈവം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

6 And YHWH says to him again, “Now put your hand into your bosom”; and he puts his hand into his bosom, and he brings it out, and behold, his hand [is] leprous as snow;

ഇതിനുശേഷം യഹോവ, “നിന്റെ കൈ മാറിടത്തിൽ വെക്കുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. മോശ കൈ മാറിടത്തിൽ വെച്ചു; അവൻ അതു പുറത്തെടുത്തപ്പോൾ അതു ഹിമംപോലെ വെളുത്തു കുഷ്ഠം ബാധിച്ചിരുന്നു.

7 and He says, “Put your hand back into your bosom”; and he puts his hand back into his bosom, and he brings it out from his bosom, and behold, it has turned back as his flesh—

“നീ അതു വീണ്ടും മാറിടത്തിൽ വെക്കുക,” എന്ന് അവിടന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. മോശ വീണ്ടും തന്റെ കൈ മാറിടത്തിൽ വെച്ചു. അത് അവൻ പുറത്തെടുത്തപ്പോൾ, തന്റെ മറ്റു ശരീരഭാഗങ്ങളെന്നപോലെ പൂർവസ്ഥിതിയിലായി.

8 “and it has come to pass, if they do not give credence to you, and do not listen to the voice of the first sign, that they have given credence to the voice of the latter sign.

തുടർന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു, “അവർ നിന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയോ ഒന്നാമത്തെ അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നം ഗൗനിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്താൽ രണ്ടാമത്തേതിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചേക്കും.

9 And it has come to pass, if they do not give credence even to these two signs, nor listen to your voice, that you have taken of the waters of the River, and have poured [it] on the dry land, and the waters which you take from the River have been, indeed, they have become blood on the dry land.”

എന്നാൽ ഈ രണ്ട് അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നങ്ങളിലും അവർ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയോ നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കാതിരിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ, നീ നൈൽനദിയിൽനിന്ന് വെള്ളം കോരി ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്ത് ഒഴിക്കണം. നീ നദിയിൽനിന്ന് എടുക്കുന്ന വെള്ളം നിലത്ത് രക്തമായിത്തീരും.”

10 And Moses says to YHWH, “O my Lord, I [am] not a man of words, either yesterday, or before, or since Your speaking to Your servant, for I [am] slow of mouth, and slow of tongue.”

മോശ യഹോവയോട്, “കർത്താവേ, അവിടത്തെ ദാസനോട് ക്ഷമിച്ചാലും; അടിയൻ മുമ്പുതന്നെയോ, അവിടന്ന് അടിയനോടു സംസാരിച്ചതിനുശേഷമോ ഒരിക്കലും വാക്ചാതുര്യമുള്ളവനായിരുന്നിട്ടില്ല. അടിയൻ വിക്കനും തടിച്ച നാവുള്ളവനും ആകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11 And YHWH says to him, “Who appointed a mouth for man? Or who appoints the mute, or deaf, or open, or blind? Is it not I, YHWH?

യഹോവ അവനോട്, “മനുഷ്യന്റെ വായ് മെനഞ്ഞതാര്? അവനെ ബധിരനോ മൂകനോ ആക്കുന്നതാര്? അവനു കാഴ്ച നൽകുന്നതോ അവനെ അന്ധനാക്കുന്നതോ ആര്? യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ അല്ലയോ?

12 And now, go, and I am with your mouth, and have directed you that which you speak”;

ഇപ്പോൾ പോകുക; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സംസാരിക്കാൻ സഹായിക്കുകയും എന്തു പറയണമെന്നു നിനക്ക് ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരികയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13 and he says, “O my Lord, please send by the hand [of another that] You send.”

എന്നാൽ മോശ, “അയ്യോ, കർത്താവേ, ദയവുചെയ്തു മറ്റാരെയെങ്കിലും അയയ്ക്കണമേ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14 And the anger of YHWH burns against Moses, and He says, “Is Aaron the Levite not your brother? I have known that he speaks well, and also, behold, he is coming out to meet you; when he has seen you, then he has rejoiced in his heart,

അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ കോപം മോശയ്ക്കുനേരേ ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവിടന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: “ലേവ്യനായ അഹരോൻ നിന്റെ സഹോദരൻ അല്ലയോ? അവനു നന്നായി സംസാരിക്കാൻ കഴിയുമെന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു; നിന്നെ വന്നു കാണാൻ അവൻ യാത്രതിരിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞു; നിന്നെ കാണുമ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം ആനന്ദിക്കും.

15 and you have spoken to him, and have set the words in his mouth, and I am with your mouth, and with his mouth, and have directed you that which you do;

പറയേണ്ടുന്ന വാക്കുകൾ നീ അവനു പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുക്കുക. ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വായോടും അവന്റെ വായോടുംകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുകയും എന്താണു ചെയ്യേണ്ടതെന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരികയും ചെയ്യും.

16 and he, he has spoken to the people for you, and it has come to pass, he is to you for a mouth, and you are to him for God;

അവൻ നിനക്കുപകരം ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിക്കും; അവൻ നിന്റെ വക്താവും നീ അവനു ദൈവവും എന്ന നിലയിലാകും.

17 and you take this rod in your hand, with which you do the signs.”

എന്നാൽ അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ ഈ വടിയും നിന്റെ കൈയിൽ എടുത്തുകൊള്ളുക.”

18 And Moses goes and turns back to his father-in-law Jethro, and says to him, “Please let me go, and I return to my brothers who [are] in Egypt, and I see whether they are yet alive.” And Jethro says to Moses, “Go in peace.”

പിന്നെ മോശ തന്റെ അമ്മായിയപ്പനായ യിത്രോവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ തിരിച്ചെത്തി അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ എന്റെ സ്വജനങ്ങളിൽ ആരെങ്കിലും ജീവിച്ചിരിപ്പുണ്ടോ എന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ പോകാൻ എന്നെ അനുവദിക്കണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിനു യിത്രോ, “സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോകുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19 And YHWH says to Moses in Midian, “Go, return to Egypt, for all the men who seek your life have died”;

യഹോവ മോശയോടു മിദ്യാനിൽവെച്ച്, “ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക; നിന്നെ വധിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ച പുരുഷന്മാരെല്ലാവരും മരിച്ചുപോയി” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.

20 and Moses takes his wife, and his sons, and causes them to ride on the donkey, and turns back to the land of Egypt, and Moses takes the rod of God in his hand.

അങ്ങനെ മോശ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും ഒരു കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി, അവരെയും കൂട്ടി തിരികെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിലേക്കു യാത്രയായി. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടിയും അദ്ദേഹം കൈയിൽ എടുത്തു.

21 And YHWH says to Moses, “In your going to return to Egypt, see—all the wonders which I have put in your hand—that you have done them before Pharaoh, and I strengthen his heart, and he does not send the people away;

യഹോവ മോശയോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു, “നീ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഭരമേൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള സകല അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും ഫറവോന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ചെയ്യണം. എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കുമ്പോൾ ജനങ്ങളെ പോകാൻ അവൻ അനുവദിക്കാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

22 and you have said to Pharaoh, Thus said YHWH: My son, My firstborn [is] Israel,

അപ്പോൾ ഫറവോനോട്, ഇപ്രകാരം പറയണം, ‘യഹോവ ഇങ്ങനെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഇസ്രായേൽ എന്റെ പുത്രൻ, എന്റെ ആദ്യജാതൻതന്നെ.

23 and I say to you, send My son away, and he serves Me; and [if] you refuse to send him away, behold, I am slaying your son, your firstborn.”

“എന്നെ ആരാധിക്കാൻ എന്റെ പുത്രനെ വിട്ടയയ്ക്കണം” എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞല്ലോ. എന്നാൽ നീ അവനെ പോകാൻ അനുവദിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പുത്രനെ, നിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതനെത്തന്നെ, കൊന്നുകളയും’ എന്നുകൂടി പറയുക.”

24 And it comes to pass in the way, in a lodging place, that YHWH meets him, and seeks to put him to death;

വഴിമധ്യേയുള്ള ഒരു സത്രത്തിൽവെച്ച് യഹോവ മോശയെ നേരിട്ടു; അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കൊല്ലുന്നതിനു ഭാവിച്ചു.

25 and Zipporah takes a flint, and cuts off the foreskin of her son, and causes [it] to touch his feet, and says, “You [are] surely a bridegroom of blood to me”;

എന്നാൽ സിപ്പോറാ ഒരു കൽക്കത്തിയെടുത്തു തന്റെ പുത്രന്റെ അഗ്രചർമം ഛേദിച്ച് മോശയുടെ കാൽക്കൽ ഇട്ടു. “നിശ്ചയമായും താങ്കൾ എനിക്കൊരു രക്തമണവാളൻ” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

26 and He desists from him. Then she said, “A bridegroom of blood,” in reference to the circumcision.

ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചു. പരിച്ഛേദനത്തെ പരാമർശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് അപ്പോൾ അവൾ “രക്തമണവാളൻ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞത്.

27 And YHWH says to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses”; and he goes, and meets him on the mountain of God, and kisses him,

യഹോവ അഹരോനോട്, “മോശയെ കാണുന്നതിന് നീ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുക” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പർവതത്തിൽവെച്ച് മോശയെ കണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ചുംബിച്ചു.

28 and Moses declares to Aaron all the words of YHWH with which He has sent him, and all the signs with which He has charged him.

യഹോവ തന്നെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചയച്ച എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളും മോശ അഹരോനെ അറിയിച്ചു; താൻ ചെയ്യണമെന്ന് യഹോവ ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചിരുന്ന എല്ലാ അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും അദ്ദേഹം സംസാരിച്ചു.

29 And Moses goes—Aaron also—and they gather all the elderly of the sons of Israel,

മോശയും അഹരോനും ഇസ്രായേല്യ ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരെ എല്ലാവരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി.

30 and Aaron speaks all the words which YHWH has spoken to Moses, and does the signs before the eyes of the people;

യഹോവ മോശയോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നതെല്ലാം അഹരോൻ അവരെ പറഞ്ഞുകേൾപ്പിച്ചു; മോശ ജനങ്ങളുടെമുമ്പാകെ ആ അത്ഭുതചിഹ്നങ്ങൾ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുകയും

31 and the people believe when they hear that YHWH has looked after the sons of Israel, and that He has seen their affliction; and they bow and pay respect.

ജനങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. യഹോവ തങ്ങളെ സന്ദർശിച്ചെന്നും അവിടന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ കഷ്ടത കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നെന്നും ഇസ്രായേൽജനം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ കുമ്പിട്ടു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
