Exodus 21

1 And these [are] the judgments which you set before them:

Și acestea sunt judecățile pe care le vei pune înaintea lor.

2 When you buy a Hebrew servant, he serves [for] six years, and in the seventh he goes out as a freeman for nothing;

Dacă tu cumperi un servitor evreu, el va servi șase ani, și în anul al șaptelea va ieși liber pe gratis.

3 if he comes in by himself, he goes out by himself; if he [is] owner of a wife, then his wife has gone out with him;

Dacă a intrat singur, va ieși singur; dacă a fost căsătorit, atunci soția lui va ieși cu el.

4 if his lord gives a wife to him, and she has borne sons or daughters to him—the wife and her children are her lord’s, and he goes out by himself.

Dacă stăpânul lui i-a dat o soție și ea i-a născut fii sau fiice, soția și copiii ei vor fi ai stăpânului ei, iar el va ieși singur.

5 And if the servant really says: I have loved my lord, my wife, and my sons—I do not go out free,

Și dacă servitorul va spune pe față: Iubesc pe stăpânul meu, pe soția mea și pe copiii mei; nu voi ieși liber;

6 then his lord has brought him near to God, and has brought him near to the door, or to the doorpost, and his lord has bored his ear with an awl, and he has served him for all time.

Atunci stăpânul lui îl va duce la judecători; de asemenea îl va duce la ușă sau la ușorul ușii; și stăpânul lui să îi găurească urechea cu o sulă; și îi va servi pentru totdeauna.

7 And when a man sells his daughter for a handmaid, she does not go out according to the going out of the menservants;

Și dacă un bărbat își vinde fiica să fie servitoare, ea nu va ieși așa cum ies servitorii.

8 if [it is] evil in the eyes of her lord, so that he has not betrothed her, then he has let her be ransomed; he has no power to sell her to a strange people, in his dealing treacherously with her.

Dacă ea nu place stăpânului ei, care a logodit-o cu el, atunci el o va lăsa să fie răscumpărată; dar nu va avea nicio putere să o vândă unei națiuni străine, fiindcă s-a purtat înșelător cu ea.

9 And if he betroths her to his son, he does to her according to the right of daughters.

Iar dacă el a logodit-o cu fiul său, el se va purta cu ea după obiceiul fiicelor.

10 If he takes another [woman] for him, he does not withdraw her food, her covering, and her habitation;

Iar dacă îi ia o altă soție, mâncarea ei, haina ei și dreptul ei de soție, el nu le va micșora.

11 and if he does not do these three for her, then she has gone out for nothing, without money.

Și dacă nu îi face acestea trei, atunci ea va ieși liberă, fără bani.

12 He who strikes a man so that he has died is certainly put to death;

Cel ce lovește un om și acesta moare, să fie cu siguranță dat la moarte.

13 as for him who has not laid wait, but God has brought [him] to his hand, I have even set a place for you to where he flees.

Și dacă un bărbat nu stă la pândă, ci Dumnezeu îl dă pe acela în mâna lui, atunci îți voi rândui un loc în care el să fugă.

14 And when a man presumes against his neighbor to slay him with subtlety, you take him from My altar to die.

Dar dacă un om vine cu intenție asupra aproapelui său ca să îl ucidă cu vicleșug, ia-l de la altarul meu, ca el să moară.

15 And he who strikes his father or his mother is certainly put to death.

Și cel ce lovește pe tatăl său, sau pe mama sa, să fie cu siguranță dat la moarte.

16 And he who steals a man, and has sold him, and he has been found in his hand, is certainly put to death.

Și cel ce fură un om și îl vinde, sau dacă va fi găsit în mâna lui, să fie cu siguranță dat la moarte.

17 And he who is reviling his father or his mother is certainly put to death.

Și cel ce blestemă pe tatăl său, sau pe mama sa, să fie cu siguranță dat la moarte.

18 And when men contend, and a man has struck his neighbor with a stone, or with the fist, and he does not die, but has fallen on the bed;

Și dacă oamenii se ceartă și unul lovește pe altul cu o piatră, sau cu pumnul și el nu moare, dar cade la pat,

19 if he rises, and has gone up and down outside on his staff, then the striker has been acquitted; he only gives [for] his cessation, and he is thoroughly healed.

Dacă el se ridică din nou și umblă pe afară sprijinit în toiagul său, atunci cel ce l-a lovit va fi achitat; numai că el va plăti pentru timpul lui pierdut și îi va face să fie complet vindecat.

20 And when a man strikes his manservant or his handmaid with a rod, and he has died under his hand—he is certainly avenged;

Și dacă un bărbat lovește pe servitorul său, sau pe servitoarea sa, cu un toiag și acesta moare sub mâna lui, să fie cu siguranță pedepsit.

21 only if he remains a day, or two days, he is not avenged, for he [is] his money.

Cu toate acestea, dacă el continuă să trăiască o zi sau două, să nu fie pedepsit, pentru că el este banul lui.

22 And when men strive, and have struck a pregnant woman, and her children have come out, and there is no harm [to them], he is certainly fined as the husband of the woman lays on him, and he has given through the judges;

Dacă oamenii se ceartă și rănesc o femeie însărcinată, așa încât rodul ei iese din ea și totuși nu urmează vătămare, el să fie pedepsit cu siguranță, conform cu ceea ce soțul femeii va așeza peste el; și va plăti așa cum judecătorii hotărăsc.

23 and if there is harm [to them], then you have given life for life,

Și dacă urmează vreo vătămare, atunci vei da viață pentru viață,

24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

Ochi pentru ochi, dinte pentru dinte, mână pentru mână, picior pentru picior,

25 burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

Arsură pentru arsură, rană pentru rană, vânătaie pentru vânătaie.

26 And when a man strikes the eye of his manservant, or the eye of his handmaid, and has destroyed it, he sends him away as a freeman for his eye;

Și dacă un om lovește ochiul servitorului său, sau ochiul servitoarei sale, astfel încât acesta piere, îl va lăsa să plece liber pentru ochiul lui.

27 and if he knocks out a tooth of his manservant or a tooth of his handmaid, he sends him away as a freeman for his tooth.

Și dacă îi zboară dintele servitorului său, sau dintele servitoarei sale, îl va lăsa să plece liber pentru dintele său.

28 And when an ox gores man or woman, and they have died, the ox is certainly stoned, and his flesh is not eaten, and the owner of the ox [is] acquitted;

Dacă un bou împunge un bărbat sau o femeie, astfel încât ei mor, atunci boul să fie cu siguranță ucis cu pietre iar carnea sa să nu fie mâncată; dar proprietarul boului să fie achitat.

29 and if the ox is [one] accustomed to gore before, and it has been testified to its owner, and he does not watch it, and it has put to death a man or woman, the ox is stoned, and its owner is also put to death.

Dar dacă boul era cunoscut mai demult că împunge cu coarnele lui și i-a fost făcut cunoscut proprietarului, iar acesta nu l-a ținut înăuntru și boul a ucis un bărbat sau o femeie, boul să fie ucis cu pietre și proprietarul lui de asemenea să fie dat la moarte.

30 If atonement is laid on him, then he has given the ransom of his life, according to all that is laid on him;

Și dacă i se va impune o sumă de bani, atunci el va da pentru răscumpărarea vieții sale orice îi este impus.

31 whether it gores a son or gores a daughter, according to this judgment it is done to him.

Fie că boul a împuns un fiu, sau a împuns o fiică, îi va fi făcut conform cu această judecată.

32 If the ox gores a manservant or a handmaid, he gives thirty silver shekels to their lord, and the ox is stoned.

Dacă boul va împinge un servitor sau o servitoare, proprietarul va da stăpânului lor treizeci de șekeli de argint și boul să fie ucis cu pietre.

33 And when a man opens a pit, or when a man digs a pit, and does not cover it, and an ox or donkey has fallen [in] there—

Și dacă un om va deschide o groapă, sau dacă un om va săpa o groapă și nu o acoperă și un bou sau un măgar cade în ea,

34 the owner of the pit repays, he gives back money to its owner, and the dead is his.

Proprietarul gropii îl va plăti și va da bani proprietarului acelora; și vita moartă va fi a lui.

35 And when a man’s ox strikes the ox of his neighbor and it has died, then they have sold the living ox, and halved its money, and they also halve the dead one;

Și dacă boul unui bărbat vatămă boul altuia, astfel încât moare, atunci vor vinde boul viu și vor împărți banii de la el; și boul mort de asemenea ei îl vor împărți.

36 or, [if] it has been known that the ox is [one] accustomed to gore before, and its owner does not watch it, he certainly repays ox for ox, and the dead is his.

Și dacă este cunoscut că acel bou obișnuia să împingă mai demult iar proprietarul lui nu l-a ținut înăuntru, el cu siguranță va plăti bou pentru bou; și boul mort va fi al lui.
