Exodus 2
1 And there goes a man of the house of Levi, and he takes the daughter of Levi,
Na rĩrĩ, mũndũ ũmwe wa nyũmba ya Lawi nĩahikirie mũtumia wa mũhĩrĩga wa Alawii,
2 and the woman conceives, and bears a son, and she sees him, that he [is] beautiful, and she hides him [for] three months,
nake akĩgĩa nda, agĩciara kahĩĩ. Rĩrĩa onire kaarĩ kaana gathaka-rĩ, agĩkahitha nyũmba mĩeri ĩtatũ.
3 and she has not been able to hide him anymore, and she takes an ark of rushes for him, and covers it with bitumen and with pitch, and puts the boy in it, and puts [it] in the weeds by the edge of the River;
No rĩrĩa aaremirwo nĩgũkahitha rĩngĩ-rĩ, agĩgathondekera gĩkabũ gĩa ithanjĩ na agĩgĩthinga na rami. Agĩcooka agĩkomia kaana kau thĩinĩ wakĩo, agĩkahitha mathanjĩ-inĩ kũu hũgũrũrũ-inĩ cia Nili.
4 and his sister stations herself far off, to know what is done to him.
Mwarĩ wa nyina na kaana kau aarũgamaga haraaya nĩguo one ũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩgakora.
5 And a daughter of Pharaoh comes down to bathe at the River, and her girls are walking by the side of the River, and she sees the ark in the midst of the weeds, and sends her handmaid, and she takes it,
Na rĩrĩ, mwarĩ wa Firaũni agĩikũrũka Nili nĩguo agethambe, nacio ndungata ciake ciaceerangaga kũu hũgũrũrũ-inĩ cia rũũĩ rũu. Nake akĩona gĩkabũ kĩu kũu ithanjĩ-inĩ, na agĩtũma ngombo yake ya mũirĩtu ĩkĩgĩĩre.
6 and opens, and sees him—the boy, and behold, a child weeping! And she has pity on him and says, “This is [one] of the Hebrews’ children.”
Agĩkunũra gĩkabũ kĩu na akĩona kaana kau. Agĩkaiguĩra tha tondũ nĩkarĩraga. Nake akiuga atĩrĩ, “Gaka nĩ kaana kamwe ga twana twa Ahibirania.”
7 And his sister says to the daughter of Pharaoh, “Do I go? When I have called a suckling woman of the Hebrews for you, then she suckles the boy for you”;
Nake mwarĩ wa nyina na kaana kau akĩũria mwarĩ wa Firaũni atĩrĩ, “Ngacarie mũtumia ũmwe Mũhibirania akũrerere kaana gaka?”
8 and the daughter of Pharaoh says to her, “Go”; and the virgin goes, and calls the mother of the boy,
Nake agĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Ĩĩ, thiĩ.” Nake mũirĩtu ũcio agĩthiĩ, akĩgĩĩra nyina wa kaana kau.
9 and the daughter of Pharaoh says to her, “Take this boy away, and suckle him for me, and I give your hire”; and the woman takes the boy, and suckles him.
Mwarĩ wa Firaũni akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Oya kaana gaka ũkanderere, nĩndĩrĩkũrĩhaga.” Nĩ ũndũ ũcio mũtumia ũcio akĩoya kaana kau agĩkarera.
10 And the boy grows, and she brings him to the daughter of Pharaoh, and he is to her for a son, and she calls his name Moses, and says, “Because I have drawn him from the water.”
Rĩrĩa kaana kau gaakũrire-rĩ, agĩgatwarĩra mwarĩ wa Firaũni nako gagĩtuĩka ta mũriũ. Agĩgeeta Musa, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩ tondũ ndakarutire maaĩ-inĩ.”
11 And it comes to pass, in those days, that Moses is grown, and he goes out to his brothers, and looks on their burdens, and sees a man, an Egyptian, striking a man, a Hebrew, [one] of his brothers,
Thuutha wa Musa gũtuĩka mũndũ mũgima-rĩ, mũthenya ũmwe nĩathiire gũceera harĩa andũ ao maarĩ, nake akĩmabaara makĩrutithio wĩra na hinya. Ningĩ akĩona Mũmisiri akĩhũũra Mũhibirania, ũmwe wa andũ ake mwene.
12 and he turns here and there, and sees that there is no man, and strikes the Egyptian, and hides him in the sand.
Nake acũthĩrĩria mĩena yothe na ndone mũndũ-rĩ, akĩũraga Mũmisiri ũcio, na akĩmũthika mũthanga-inĩ.
13 And he goes out on the second day, and behold, two men, Hebrews, are striving, and he says to the wrongdoer, “Why do you strike your neighbor?”
Mũthenya ũyũ ũngĩ akiumagara na akĩona Ahibirania eerĩ makĩrũa. Akĩũria ũrĩa wogitanĩte atĩrĩ, “Ũraringa Mũhibirania wanyu nĩkĩ?”
14 And he says, “Who set you for a head and judge over us? Are you saying [it] to slay me as you have slain the Egyptian?” And Moses fears and says, “Surely the thing has been known.”
Nake mũndũ ũcio akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Nũũ wagũtuire mwathi na mũtuithania wa maciira maitũ? Anga nĩũreciiria kũnjũraga o ta ũrĩa ũrooragire Mũmisiri?” Nake Musa agĩĩtigĩra na agĩĩciiria atĩrĩ, “Ũrĩa ndĩrekire no nginya ũkorwo nĩũmenyekete.”
15 And Pharaoh hears of this thing, and seeks to slay Moses, and Moses flees from the face of Pharaoh, and dwells in the land of Midian, and dwells by the well.
Rĩrĩa Firaũni aiguire ũhoro ũcio, akĩgeria kũũragithia Musa, nowe Musa akĩũrĩra Firaũni agĩthiĩ gũtũũra Midiani, kũrĩa aikarire thĩ hakuhĩ na gĩthima.
16 And to a priest of Midian [are] seven daughters, and they come and draw, and fill the troughs to water the flock of their father,
Na rĩrĩ, Jethero mũthĩnjĩri-ngai wa Midiani aarĩ na airĩtu ake mũgwanja, nao magĩũka gũtaha maaĩ na kũiyũria mĩharatĩ manyuithie rũũru rwa mbũri rwa ithe wao.
17 and the shepherds come and drive them away, and Moses arises, and saves them, and waters their flock.
Arĩithi amwe nĩmookire na makĩingata airĩtu acio, no Musa agĩũkĩra, akĩmateithũra na akĩhe ũhiũ wao maaĩ.
18 And they come to their father Reuel, and he says, “Why have you hurried to come in today?”
Rĩrĩa airĩtu acio maainũkire kũrĩ ithe wao Reueli-rĩ, akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ gĩatũma mũcooke narua ũguo ũmũthĩ?”
19 And they say, “A man, an Egyptian, has delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and has also diligently drawn for us, and waters the flock”;
Makĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mũmisiri ũmwe nĩatũteithũrire kũrĩ arĩithi; o na nĩwe ũtũtahĩire maaĩ na atũheera mbũri ciitũ maaĩ.”
20 and he says to his daughters, “And where [is] he? Why [is] this [that] you left the man? Call for him, and he eats bread.”
Jethero akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Na akĩrĩ kũ?” “Mũmũtigire nĩkĩ? Thiĩi mũmwĩte, oke arĩĩanĩre na ithuĩ.”
21 And Moses is willing to dwell with the man, and he gives his daughter Zipporah to Moses,
Nake Musa agĩĩtĩkĩra gũikara kwa mũndũ ũcio, nake akĩmũhe mwarĩ wetagwo Zipora amũhikie.
22 and she bears a son, and he calls his name Gershom, for he said, “I have been a sojourner in a strange land.”
Zipora agĩciara kaana ga kahĩĩ, nake Musa agĩgeeta Gerishomu, tondũ oigire atĩrĩ, “Nduĩkĩte mũgeni bũrũri wene.”
23 And it comes to pass during these many days, that the king of Egypt dies, and the sons of Israel sigh because of the service, and cry, and their cry goes up to God, because of the service;
Thuutha wa ihinda iraaya-rĩ, mũthamaki wa bũrũri wa Misiri nĩakuire. Andũ a Isiraeli magĩcaaya nĩ ũndũ wa ũkombo, na makĩrĩrĩra Ngai; nakĩo kĩrĩro kĩao atĩ mateithio nĩ ũndũ wa ũkombo gĩgĩkinyĩra Ngai.
24 and God hears their groaning, and God remembers His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob;
Nake Ngai akĩigua gũcaaya kwao nake akĩririkana kĩrĩkanĩro gĩake na Iburahĩmu, na Isaaka na Jakubu.
25 and God sees the sons of Israel, and God knows.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Ngai akĩona gũtangĩka kwa andũ a Isiraeli, nake akĩrũmbũiya ũhoro wao.
