Exodus 17
1 And all the congregation of the sons of Israel journey from the wilderness of Sin, on their journeys, by the command of YHWH, and encamp in Rephidim, and there is no water for the people to drink;

2 and the people strive with Moses, and say, “Give us water, and we drink.” And Moses says to them, “Why do you strive with me? Why do you try YHWH?”
Te dongah pilnam te Moses neh toh uh thae tih, “Kaimih he tui m'pae lamtah ka o pawn eh,” a ti uh. Te vaengah amih te Moses loh, “Balae tih kai te nan toe uh? Balae tih BOEIPA na noemcai? a ti nah.
3 And the people thirst for water there, and the people murmur against Moses, and say, “Why [is] this [that] you have brought us up out of Egypt to put us to death, also our sons and our livestock, with thirst?”
Tedae pilnam tah tui hal oeh. Te dongah pilnam te Moses taengah nul uh tih, “Balae tih Egypt lamloh kaimih nang khuen. Kamah neh ka ca rhoek neh ka tuihalh neh duek sak ham maco,” a ti nah.
4 And Moses cries to YHWH, saying, “What do I do to this people? Yet a little, and they have stoned me.”
Te vaengah Moses te BOEIPA taengah pang tih, “Pilnam ham he balae ka saii eh? Bet ca koinih kai n'dae uh hloe,” a ti nah.
5 And YHWH says to Moses, “Pass over before the people, and take with you from [the] elderly of Israel, and take your rod in your hand, with which you have struck the River, and you have gone.
Te phoeiah BOEIPA loh Moses te, “Pilnam hmai ah lamhma lamtah Israel kah a ham rhoek te namah neh puei uh. Sokko na boh nah na conghol te na kut dongah pom lamtah cet.
6 Behold, I am standing before you there on the rock in Horeb, and you have struck on the rock, and waters have come out from it, and the people have drunk.” And Moses does so before the eyes of [the] elderly of Israel,

7 and he calls the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the strife of the sons of Israel, and because of their trying YHWH, saying, “Is YHWH in our midst or not?”

8 And Amalek comes, and fights with Israel in Rephidim,
Tedae Rephidim ah tah Amalek ha pawk tih Israel a vathoh thil.
9 and Moses says to Joshua, “Choose men for us, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I am standing on the top of the hill, and the rod of God in my hand.”
Te dongah Moses loh Joshua taengah, “Mamih ham hlang coelh laeh, khuen lamtah Amalek te tloek laeh. Thangvuen ah kai he som lu ah ka pai ni, ka kut ah Pathen kah conghol om ngawn,” a ti nah.
10 And Joshua does as Moses has said to him, to fight with Amalek, and Moses, Aaron, and Hur have gone up [to] the top of the height;
Amalek te vathoh thil ham Moses loh amah a ti nah bangla Joshua loha saii tangloeng. Moses, Aaron neh Hur tahtlangsom lu la luei uh.
11 and it has come to pass, when Moses lifts up his hand, that Israel has been mighty, and when he lets his hands rest, that Amalek has been mighty.
Moses loh a kut a thoh rhuet vaengah tah Israel loh a na dae a kut a hlak rhuet vaengah tah Amalek a na.
12 And the hands of Moses [are] heavy, and they take a stone and set [it] under him, and he sits on it, and Aaron and Hur have taken hold on his hands, one on this [side] and one on that [side]; and his hands are steadfast until the going in of the sun;

13 and Joshua weakens Amalek and his people by the mouth of the sword.

14 And YHWH says to Moses, “Write this, a memorial in a Scroll, and set [it] in the ears of Joshua, that I utterly wipe away the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens”;
Te phoeiah BOEIPA loh Moses te, “Poekkoepnah he cabu dongah daek lamtah Joshua hna ah dueh pah. Amalek poekkoepnah te vaan hmui lamloh ka khoe rhoe ka khoe ni,” a ti nah.
15 and Moses builds an altar, and calls its name YHWH-Nissi,
Te dongah Moses loh hmueihtuk a suem tih a ming te BOEIPA tah ka rholik la a khue.
16 and says, “Because a hand [is] on the throne of YAH, war [is] to YHWH with Amalek from generation [to] generation.”
Te vaengah, “Caemtloek BOEIPA kah ngolkhoel dongah kut ka phuel dongah BOEIPA loh Amalek te cadilcahma lamloh cadilcahma duela vathoh thil saeh,” a ti.
