< Exodus 12 >

1 And YHWH speaks to Moses and to Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
Izip prae ah Angraeng mah Mosi hoi Aaron khaeah,
2 “This month [is] the chief of months to you—it [is] the first of the months of the year to you;
Vaihi khrah loe nangcae han khrah tangsuek ah om tih; nangcae han saning amtong tangsuekhaih khrah ah om tih.
3 speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth of this month they take to themselves, each man, a lamb for the house of the fathers, a lamb for a house.
Vaihi khrah ni hato naah, kami boih, angmacae imthung takoh maeto mah, tuucaa maeto sin hanah, amkhueng Israel kaminawk boih khaeah thui ah, tiah a naa.
4 And if the household is too few for a lamb, then he has taken, he and his neighbor who is near to his house, for the number of persons, each according to his eating you count for the lamb.
Imthung takoh maeto hanah tuucaa maeto khawt ai nahaeloe, a imtaeng ih kami hoi angcuu o nasoe loe, kami khawt ah tuucaa to sin o nasoe.
5 A lamb, a perfect one, a male, a son of a year, let [it] be to you; you take [it] from the sheep or from the goats.

6 And it has become a charge to you, until the fourteenth day of this month, and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel has slaughtered it between the evenings;

7 and they have taken of the blood, and have put [it] on the two doorposts, and on the lintel over the houses in which they eat it.

8 And they have eaten the flesh in this night, a roast with fire; they eat it with unleavened things and bitters;
To na ni duembang ah, hmai pakhaem ih moi to, kakhaa aan hoi taeh thuh ai ih takaw hoiah nawnto caa oh.
9 you do not eat of it raw, or boiled in water at all, but a roast with fire, its head with its legs, and with its innards;
Kahaeng moi maw, to tih ai boeh loe tui hoiah bueh ih moi to caa o hmah; toe a lu moi, a khok hoi palung pathinnawk loe hmai pakhaem pacoengah caa oh.
10 and you do not leave of it until morning, and that which is remaining of it until morning you burn with fire.
Moi to khawnbang khoek to suem o hmah; kamthlai zetta om nahaeloe, hmai hoiah qoeng oh.
11 And thus you eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand, and you have eaten it in haste; it is YHWH’s Passover,
Moi na caak o naah, kaengkaeh to angzaeng oh, khokpanaibum abuen oh loe, ban ah cunghet to sin pacoengah, karangah caa oh; hae loe Angraeng ih loihhaih poih ah oh.
12 and I have passed over through the land of Egypt during this night, and have struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from man even to beast, and I do judgments on all the gods of Egypt; I [am] YHWH.

13 And the blood has become a sign for you on the houses where you [are], and I have seen the blood, and have passed over you, and a plague is not on you for destruction in My striking in the land of Egypt.
Athii loe nangcae ohhaih im ah, angmathaih maeto ah om tih; athii ka hnuk naah, nangcae to kang takanh taak han; Izip prae ka tuk naah, nangcae nuiah kasae nathaih pha mak ai.
14 And this day has become a memorial to you, and you have kept it [for] a celebration to YHWH throughout your generations—a continuous statute; you keep it [for] a celebration.
Hae ani hae pakuem o poe ah; na caanawk dung khoek to hae ani phak naah, Angraeng khaeah buh raenghaih poih to sah oh; sakzong ih atawk baktih toengah, to poih to dungzan khoek to sah oh.
15 Seven days you eat unleavened things; only—in the first day you cause leaven to cease out of your houses; for anyone eating anything fermented from the first day until the seventh day, indeed, that person has been cut off from Israel.
Ni sarihto thung taeh thuh ai ih takaw to caa oh; ni amtong tangsuek naah imthung ih taeh to va oh; ni amtong tangsuek hoi ni sarihto thung taeh thuh ih takaw caa kami loe, Israel acaeng thung hoiah pahnawt oh.
16 And in the first day [is] a holy convocation, and in the seventh day you have a holy convocation; any work is not done in them, only that which is eaten by any person—it alone is done by you,
Amtong tangsuekhaih ni hoi sarihto niah, kaciim amkhuenghaih to sah oh; caaknaek khue ai ah loe tok kalah roe sah o hmah.
17 and you have observed the Unleavened Things, for in this very day I have brought out your hosts from the land of Egypt, and you have observed this day throughout your generations—a continuous statute.
Hae na ni roe ah Izip prae thung hoiah kang tacawt o haih pongah, taeh thuh ai ih takaw caakhaih poih to sah oh; sakzong ih atawk baktih toengah, na caanawk dung khoek to hae ani hae zaa o poe ah.
18 In the first [month], on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, you eat unleavened things until the twenty-first day of the month, at evening;
Khrah tangsuek, to akhrah ni hathlai palito duembang hoi kamtong ni pumphaeto pacoeng, nito duembang karoek to taeh thuh ai ih takaw to caa oh.
19 seven days leaven is not found in your houses, for anyone eating anything fermented—that person has been cut off from the congregation of Israel, among the sojourners or among the natives of the land;
Ni sarihto thung na imthung ah taeh to suem o hmah; angvin maw, to tih ai boeh loe prae thung tapen kami mah maw, taeh thuh ih takaw to caa nahaeloe, Israel acaeng thung hoiah pahnawt oh.
20 you do not eat anything fermented—in all your dwellings you eat [only] unleavened things.”
Taeh hoi sak ih takaw to caa o hmah; na ohhaih ahmuen kruekah taeh thuh ai ih takaw to caa oh, tiah a naa.
21 And Moses calls for all [the] elderly of Israel and says to them, “Draw out and take for yourselves [from] the flock, for your families, and slaughter the Passover-sacrifice;

22 and you have taken a bunch of hyssop, and have dipped [it] in the blood which [is] in the basin, and have struck [it] on the lintel, and on the two doorposts, from the blood which [is] in the basin, and you, you do not go out—each from the opening of his house—until morning.

23 And YHWH has passed on to strike the Egyptians, and has seen the blood on the lintel, and on the two doorposts, and YHWH has passed over the opening, and does not permit the destruction to come into your houses to strike.
Angraeng loe Izip kaminawk hum hanah Izip prae thung boih ah caeh tih; thok ranuih hoi thok tung ranuih boih ah nok ih athii to a hnuk naah, Angraeng mah to im thok to takan taak tih, to tiah kami humkung loe nangcae hum hanah imthung ah akunsak mak ai.
24 And you have observed this thing for a statute to you and to your sons for all time;
Sakzong ih atawk baktih toengah, hae hmuen hae nangmacae hoi na caanawk mah doeh pazui o poe ah.
25 and it has been, when you come to the land which YHWH gives to you as He has spoken, that you have kept this service;
Angraeng mah lokkam ih baktih toengah, anih mah paek han thuih ih prae thungah na kun o naah, hae tok hae sah o poe ah.
26 and it has come to pass, when your sons say to you, What [is] this service you have?
Na caanawk mah, Hae tok loe tih thuih koehhaih ih maw? tiah na dueng o nahaeloe,
27 That you have said, It [is] a sacrifice of Passover to YHWH, who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt, in His striking the Egyptians, and our houses He delivered.”
nangcae mah nihcae khaeah, Hae loe Angraeng mah Izip kaminawk to hum moe, kaicae ih im loe pathlung, Izip prae ih Israel kaminawk ih im takan taakhaih, Angraeng ih loihhaih poih ah oh, tiah thui pae oh, tiah a naa. To pacoengah kaminawk mah akuep hoiah bok o.
28 And the people bow and pay respect, and the sons of Israel go and do as YHWH commanded Moses and Aaron; so they have done.

29 And it comes to pass, at midnight, that YHWH has struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who is sitting on his throne, to the firstborn of the captive who [is] in the prison-house, and every firstborn of beasts.

30 And Pharaoh rises by night, he and all his servants, and all the Egyptians, and there is a great cry in Egypt, for there is not a house where there is not [one] dead,

31 and he calls for Moses and for Aaron by night and says, “Rise, go out from the midst of my people, both you and the sons of Israel, and go, serve YHWH according to your word;

32 take both your flock and your herd as you have spoken, and go; then you have also blessed me.”
Nangmacae ih tuunawk hoi maitawnawk doeh la oh loe, na thuih o ih baktih toengah caeh oh! Kai doeh tahamhoihaih na paek o toengah, tiah a naa.
33 And the Egyptians are urgent on the people, hastening to send them away out of the land, for they said, “We are all dead”;
Izip kaminawk mah, Kaicae loe kadueh kami ah ni ka oh o boih boeh, tiah a thuih o pongah, Israel kaminawk to Izip prae thung hoi karangah haek hanah, kaminawk to karangah pahruek o.
34 and the people take up their dough before it is fermented, their kneading-troughs [are] bound up in their garments on their shoulder.
To pongah kaminawk mah taeh thuh ai ih takaw kahaeng to lak o moe, takaw naephaih boengloengnawk doeh kahni hoiah tapawk o pacoengah, palaeng ah aput o.
35 And the sons of Israel have done according to the word of Moses, and they ask for vessels of silver and vessels of gold, and garments, from the Egyptians;
Mosi mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Israel kaminawk mah sak o; Izip kaminawk khaeah sui, sum kanglungnawk hoi khukbuennawk to a hnik o;
36 and YHWH has given the grace of the people in the eyes of the Egyptians, and they cause them to ask, and they spoil the Egyptians.
Angraeng mah Izip kaminawk khaeah tahmenhaih palungthin to paek pongah, nihcae mah hnik ih hmuen boih to a paek o. Nihcae mah Izip kaminawk ih hmuen to lak pae o.
37 And the sons of Israel journey from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, apart from infants;

38 and a great rabble has also gone up with them, and flock and herd—very much livestock.

39 And they bake unleavened cakes with the dough which they have brought out from Egypt, for it has not fermented; for they have been cast out of Egypt, and have not been able to delay, and also they have not made provision for themselves.

40 And the dwelling of the sons of Israel [in] which they have dwelt in Egypt [is] four hundred and thirty years;

41 and it comes to pass, at the end of four hundred and thirty years—indeed, it comes to pass on this very same day—all the hosts of YHWH have gone out from the land of Egypt.

42 It [is] a night of watchings to YHWH, to bring them out from the land of Egypt; it [is] this night of watchings to YHWH to all the sons of Israel throughout their generations.

43 And YHWH says to Moses and Aaron, “This [is] a statute of the Passover; any son of a stranger does not eat of it;

44 and any man’s servant, the purchase of money, when you have circumcised him—then he eats of it;

45 a settler or hired servant does not eat of it;

46 it is eaten in one house, you do not carry out of the house [any] of the flesh outside, and you do not break a bone of it;

47 all the congregation of Israel keeps it.

48 And when a sojourner sojourns with you, and has made a Passover to YHWH, every male of his [is] to be circumcised, and then he comes near to keep it, and he has been as a native of the land, but any uncircumcised one does not eat of it;

49 one law is to a native, and to a sojourner who is sojourning in your midst.”
Prae thung tapen kami hoi nangcae salakah kaom prae kalah kami hanah, kanghmong daan maeto patoh oh, tiah a naa.
50 And all the sons of Israel do as YHWH commanded Moses and Aaron; so they have done.
Angraeng mah Mosi hoi Aaron khaeah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Israel kaminawk boih mah sak o.
51 And it comes to pass on this very same day, YHWH has brought out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt by their hosts.
