Exodus 11
1 And YHWH says to Moses, “One more plague I bring in on Pharaoh and on Egypt, afterward he sends you away from this; when he is sending you away, he surely casts you out from this [place] altogether;
L’Éternel avait dit à Moïse: "Il est une plaie encore que j’enverrai à Pharaon et à l’Égypte et alors il vous laissera partir de ce pays; en le faisant cette fois, il vous en repoussera d’une manière absolue.
2 now speak in the ears of the people, and they ask—each man from his neighbor, and each woman from her neighbor—[for] vessels of silver and vessels of gold.”
Fais donc entendre au peuple que chacun ait à demander à son voisin et chacune à sa voisine, des vases d’argent et des vases d’or."
3 And YHWH gives the grace of the people in the eyes of the Egyptians; also the man Moses [is] very great in the land of Egypt, in the eyes of the servants of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of the people.
Le Seigneur avait fait trouver faveur à son peuple chez les Égyptiens; cet homme aussi, Moïse, était très considéré dans le pays d’Égypte, aux yeux des serviteurs de Pharaon et aux yeux du peuple.
4 And Moses says, “Thus said YHWH: About midnight I am going out into the midst of Egypt,
Moïse ajouta: "Ainsi a parlé l’Éternel: ‘Au milieu de la nuit, je m’avancerai à travers l’Égypte
5 and every firstborn in the land of Egypt has died, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who is sitting on his throne, to the firstborn of the maidservant who [is] behind the millstones, and all the firstborn of beasts;
et alors périra tout premier-né dans le pays d’Égypte, depuis le premier né de Pharaon qui devait occuper son trône, jusqu’au premier-né de l’esclave qui fait tourner la meule; de même tous les premiers-nés des animaux.
6 and there has been a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been, and such as there is not again;
Et ce sera une clameur immense dans tout le pays d’Égypte, telle qu’il n’y en a pas eu, qu’il n’y en aura plus de pareille.
7 and against all the sons of Israel a dog does not sharpen its tongue, from man even to beast, so that you know that YHWH makes a separation between the Egyptians and Israel.
Quant aux enfants d’Israël, pas un chien n’aboiera contre eux ni contre leur bétail afin que vous reconnaissiez combien l’Éternel distingue entre Misraïm et Israël.
8 And all these servants of yours have come down to me, and bowed themselves to me, saying, Go out, you and all the people who [are] at your feet; and afterward I go out”; and he goes out from Pharaoh in the heat of anger.
Tous ces courtisans qui t’entourent descendront jusqu’à moi et se prosterneront à mes pieds en disant: 'Pars, toi et tout le peuple qui t’obéit!' Et alors je partirai.’" Et il sortit, tout courroucé, de devant Pharaon.
9 And YHWH says to Moses, “Pharaoh does not listen to you, so as to multiply My wonders in the land of Egypt”;
L’Éternel avait dit à Moïse: "Pharaon ne vous cédera point, afin que mes miracles se multiplient dans le pays d’Égypte."
10 and Moses and Aaron have done all these wonders before Pharaoh, and YHWH strengthens Pharaoh’s heart, and he has not sent the sons of Israel out of his land.
Or, Moïse et Aaron avaient exécuté tous ces miracles à la vue de Pharaon mais l’Éternel endurcit le cœur de Pharaon et il ne renvoya point les Israélites de son pays.
