Esther 7
1 And the king comes in, and Haman, to drink with Esther the queen,
Als nun der König und Haman sich zum festlichen Mahl bei der Königin Esther begeben hatten,
2 and the king says to Esther also on the second day, during the banquet of wine, “What [is] your petition, Esther, O queen? And it is given to you; and what [is] your request? To the half of the kingdom—and it is done.”
sagte der König zu Esther auch am zweiten Tage beim Weintrinken: »Was ist deine Bitte, Königin Esther? Sie soll dir gewährt werden! Und was ist dein Wunsch? Wäre es auch die Hälfte des Königreichs – es soll geschehen!«
3 And Esther the queen answers and says, “If I have found grace in your eyes, O king, and if to the king [it be] good, let my life be given to me at my petition, and my people at my request;
Da antwortete die Königin Esther mit den Worten: »Wenn ich Gnade vor dir gefunden habe, o König, und wenn es dem König genehm ist, so möge mir geschenkt werden mein Leben: das ist meine Bitte, und mein Volk: das ist mein Wunsch!
4 for we have been sold, I and my people, to cut off, to slay, and to destroy; and if for menservants and for maidservants we had been sold I had kept silent—but the adversity is not equal to the loss of the king.”
Denn wir sind verkauft worden, ich und mein Volk, um ausgerottet, ermordet und umgebracht zu werden! Und wenn wir nur als Sklaven und Sklavinnen verkauft wären, so würde ich geschwiegen haben, denn unsere Bedrängnis wäre nicht hinreichend, um den König zu belästigen.«
5 And King Ahasuerus says, indeed, he says to Esther the queen, “Who [is] he—this one? And where [is] this one whose heart has filled him to do so?”
Da fragte der König Ahasveros die Königin Esther: »Wer ist der, und wo ist der, welcher es sich in den Sinn hat kommen lassen, so zu handeln?«
6 And Esther says, “The man—adversary and enemy—[is] this wicked Haman”; and Haman has been afraid at the presence of the king and of the queen.
Esther erwiderte: »Der Widersacher und Feind ist der Bösewicht Haman da!« Da fuhr Haman vor dem König und der Königin erschreckt zusammen;
7 And the king has risen, in his fury, from the banquet of wine, to the garden of the house, and Haman has remained to seek for his life from Esther the queen, for he has seen that evil has been determined against him by the king.
der König aber stand in höchster Erregung vom Weingelage auf und begab sich in den Garten am Palast, während Haman zurückblieb, um bei der Königin Esther um sein Leben zu flehen; denn er sah wohl ein, daß sein Verderben beim Könige fest beschlossene Sache war.
8 And the king has turned back out of the garden of the house to the house of the banquet of wine, and Haman is falling on the couch on which Esther [is], and the king says, “Also to subdue the queen with me in the house?” The word has gone out from the mouth of the king, and the face of Haman they have covered.
Als dann der König aus dem Schloßgarten wieder in den Saal, in dem das Gastmahl stattgefunden, zurückkehrte, hatte Haman sich gerade an dem Polster niedergeworfen, auf dem Esther lag. Da rief der König aus: »Will er etwa gar der Königin in meinem eigenen Hause Gewalt antun?« Das Wort war kaum dem Munde des Königs entfahren, als man auch schon dem Haman das Gesicht verhüllte.
9 And Harbonah, one of the eunuchs, says before the king, “Also behold, the tree that Haman made for Mordecai, who spoke good for the king, is standing in the house of Haman, in height fifty cubits”; and the king says, “Hang him on it.”
Da sagte Harbona, einer von den Kammerherren, die den König zu bedienen hatten: »Es steht ja auch schon der Pfahl, den Haman für Mardochai, den Wohltäter des Königs, bei seinem Hause hat errichten lassen, fünfzig Ellen hoch!« Da befahl der König: »Hängt ihn daran!«
10 And they hang Haman on the tree that he had prepared for Mordecai, and the fury of the king has lain down.
So hängte man denn Haman an den Pfahl, den er für Mardochai hatte errichten lassen; darauf legte sich der Zorn des Königs.
