Esther 4
1 And Mordecai has known all that has been done, and Mordecai tears his garments, and puts on sackcloth and ashes, and goes forth into the midst of the city and cries—a cry loud and bitter,
Cuando Mardoqueo se enteró de todo lo que se había hecho, rasgó sus ropas y se vistió de saco con cenizas, y salió al centro de la ciudad, y se lamentó fuerte y amargamente.
2 and he comes to the front of the gate of the king, but none is to come to the gate of the king with a sackcloth-garment.
Llegó hasta la puerta del rey, pues a nadie se le permite entrar en la puerta del rey vestido de cilicio.
3 And in each and every province, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, the Jews have a great mourning, and fasting, and weeping, and lamenting: sackcloth and ashes are spread for many.
En todas las provincias, dondequiera que llegaba la orden del rey y su decreto, había gran luto entre los judíos, y ayuno, llanto y lamentos; y muchos se acostaban en cilicio y ceniza.
4 And young women of Esther come in and her eunuchs, and declare [it] to her, and the queen is exceedingly pained, and sends garments to clothe Mordecai, and to turn aside his sackcloth from off him, and he has not received [them].
Vinieron las doncellas de Ester y sus eunucos y le contaron esto, y la reina se entristeció mucho. Envió ropa a Mardoqueo, para reemplazar su cilicio, pero él no la recibió.
5 And Esther calls to Hatach, of the eunuchs of the king, whom he has stationed before her, and gives him a charge for Mordecai, to know what this [is], and why this [is].
Entonces Ester llamó a Hatac, uno de los eunucos del rey, a quien había designado para que la atendiera, y le ordenó que fuera a ver a Mardoqueo, para averiguar qué era esto y por qué era.
6 And Hatach goes out to Mordecai, to a broad place of the city, that [is] before the gate of the king,
Salió, pues, Hatac a ver a Mardoqueo, a la plaza de la ciudad que estaba delante de la puerta del rey.
7 and Mordecai declares to him all that has met him, and the explanation of the money that Haman said to weigh to the treasuries of the king for the Jews, to destroy them,
Mardoqueo le contó todo lo que le había sucedido y la suma exacta del dinero que Amán había prometido pagar a las arcas del rey por la destrucción de los judíos.
8 and the copy of the writing of the law that had been given in Shushan to destroy them he has given to him, to show Esther, and to declare [it] to her, and to lay a charge on her to go in to the king, to make supplication to him, and to seek from before him, for her people.
También le dio la copia del escrito del decreto que se había dado en Susa para destruirlos, para que se lo mostrara a Ester y se lo declarara, y para que la instara a entrar al rey para suplicarle y pedirle por su pueblo.
9 And Hatach comes in and declares to Esther the words of Mordecai,
Hathach vino y le contó a Ester las palabras de Mardoqueo.
10 and Esther speaks to Hatach, and charges him for Mordecai:
Entonces Ester habló con Hatac y le dio un mensaje para Mardoqueo
11 “All servants of the king, and people of the provinces of the king, know that any man and woman who comes to the king, into the inner court, who is not called—one law of his [is] to put [them] to death, apart from him to whom the king holds out the golden scepter, then he has lived; and I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days.”
“Todos los siervos del rey y el pueblo de las provincias del rey saben que cualquiera, sea hombre o mujer, que se presente al rey en el patio interior sin ser llamado, hay una ley para él: que sea condenado a muerte, excepto aquellos a quienes el rey les extienda el cetro de oro, para que vivan. No he sido llamado a entrar al rey en estos treinta días”.
12 And they declare to Mordecai the words of Esther,
Le contaron a Mardoqueo las palabras de Ester.
13 and Mordecai commands to send back to Esther: “Do not think in your soul to be delivered [in] the house of the king, more than all the Jews,
Entonces Mardoqueo les pidió que le devolvieran a Ester esta respuesta “No pienses para ti que vas a escapar en la casa del rey más que todos los judíos.
14 but if you keep entirely silent at this time, respite and deliverance remains to the Jews from another place, and you and the house of your fathers are destroyed; and who knows whether for a time like this you have come to the kingdom?”
Porque si ahora callas, el alivio y la liberación vendrán a los judíos desde otro lugar, pero tú y la casa de tu padre pereceréis. ¿Quién sabe si no has venido al reino para un momento como éste?”
15 And Esther commands to send back to Mordecai:
Entonces Ester les pidió que respondieran a Mardoqueo,
16 “Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and do not eat nor drink three days, by night and by day; also I and my young women fast likewise, and so I go in to the king, that [is] not according to law, and when I have perished—I have perished.”
“Ve, reúne a todos los judíos que están presentes en Susa, y ayunen por mí, y no coman ni beban durante tres días, ni de noche ni de día. Yo y mis doncellas también ayunaremos de la misma manera. Entonces entraré a ver al rey, lo cual es contrario a la ley; y si perezco, perezco”.
17 And Mordecai passes on, and does according to all that Esther has charged on him.
Así pues, Mardoqueo se puso en camino e hizo todo lo que Ester le había ordenado.
