Esther 4
1 And Mordecai has known all that has been done, and Mordecai tears his garments, and puts on sackcloth and ashes, and goes forth into the midst of the city and cries—a cry loud and bitter,
Când Mardoheu a priceput tot ce s-a făcut, Mardoheu şi-a sfâşiat hainele şi s-a îmbrăcat în pânză de sac cu cenuşă, şi a ieşit în mijlocul cetăţii, şi a plâns tare şi cu amărăciune.
2 and he comes to the front of the gate of the king, but none is to come to the gate of the king with a sackcloth-garment.
Şi a venit până în faţa porţii împăratului, căci nimeni nu putea intra pe poarta împăratului îmbrăcat cu pânză de sac.
3 And in each and every province, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, the Jews have a great mourning, and fasting, and weeping, and lamenting: sackcloth and ashes are spread for many.
Şi în fiecare provincie, oriunde ajungea porunca împăratului şi hotărârea sa, a fost mare jale printre iudei, şi post şi plâns şi strigăte; şi mulţi zăceau în pânză de sac şi cenuşă.
4 And young women of Esther come in and her eunuchs, and declare [it] to her, and the queen is exceedingly pained, and sends garments to clothe Mordecai, and to turn aside his sackcloth from off him, and he has not received [them].
Şi servitoarele Esterei şi famenii ei au venit şi i-au spus aceasta. Atunci împărăteasa a fost foarte mâhnită; şi a trimis haine să îl îmbrace pe Mardoheu, şi să îi ia pânza de sac de pe el, dar el nu a primit.
5 And Esther calls to Hatach, of the eunuchs of the king, whom he has stationed before her, and gives him a charge for Mordecai, to know what this [is], and why this [is].
Atunci Estera a chemat pe Hatac, unul dintre famenii împăratului, pe care l-a rânduit să aibă grijă de ea, şi i-a dat o poruncă pentru Mardoheu, să afle ce este şi de ce.
6 And Hatach goes out to Mordecai, to a broad place of the city, that [is] before the gate of the king,
Astfel Hatac a mers la Mardoheu până în piaţa cetăţii, care era înaintea porţii împăratului.
7 and Mordecai declares to him all that has met him, and the explanation of the money that Haman said to weigh to the treasuries of the king for the Jews, to destroy them,
Şi Mardoheu i-a spus tot ceea ce i s-a întâmplat, şi despre suma de bani pe care Haman a promis să o plătească trezoreriilor împăratului pentru iudei, pentru a-i nimici.
8 and the copy of the writing of the law that had been given in Shushan to destroy them he has given to him, to show Esther, and to declare [it] to her, and to lay a charge on her to go in to the king, to make supplication to him, and to seek from before him, for her people.
De asemenea i-a dat copia înscrisului hotărârii, dată în Susa pentru a-i nimici, pentru a fi arătată Esterei, şi să îi spună şi să îi poruncească să intre la împărat, să îl roage şi să facă cerere înaintea lui pentru poporul ei.
9 And Hatach comes in and declares to Esther the words of Mordecai,
Şi Hatac a venit şi a spus Esterei cuvintele lui Mardoheu.
10 and Esther speaks to Hatach, and charges him for Mordecai:
Estera a vorbit din nou lui Hatac şi i-a dat porunca pentru Mardoheu.
11 “All servants of the king, and people of the provinces of the king, know that any man and woman who comes to the king, into the inner court, who is not called—one law of his [is] to put [them] to death, apart from him to whom the king holds out the golden scepter, then he has lived; and I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days.”
Toţi servitorii împăratului şi oamenii din provinciile împăratului, ştiu că oricine, fie bărbat, fie femeie, care va intra la împărat în curtea dinăuntru, fără să fie chemat, este o singură lege a împăratului, să fie ucis, cu excepţia celui căruia împăratul îi întinde sceptrul său aurit, ca el să trăiască; iar eu nu am fost chemată la împărat în aceste treizeci de zile.
12 And they declare to Mordecai the words of Esther,
Şi i-au spus lui Mardoheu cuvintele Esterei.
13 and Mordecai commands to send back to Esther: “Do not think in your soul to be delivered [in] the house of the king, more than all the Jews,
Atunci Mardoheu i-a poruncit să răspundă Esterei: Nu gândi în tine însuţi că numai tu vei scăpa în casa împăratului dintre toţi iudeii.
14 but if you keep entirely silent at this time, respite and deliverance remains to the Jews from another place, and you and the house of your fathers are destroyed; and who knows whether for a time like this you have come to the kingdom?”
Căci dacă tu vei tăcea cu totul în acest timp, ajutorul şi eliberarea iudeilor se va ridica din altă parte; dar tu şi casa tatălui tău veţi fi nimiciţi; şi cine ştie dacă nu ai venit la împărăţie tocmai pentru un timp ca acesta?
15 And Esther commands to send back to Mordecai:
Apoi Estera le-a cerut să ducă acest răspuns înapoi lui Mardoheu.
16 “Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and do not eat nor drink three days, by night and by day; also I and my young women fast likewise, and so I go in to the king, that [is] not according to law, and when I have perished—I have perished.”
Du-te, adună toţi iudeii care se află în Susa şi postiţi pentru mine, şi nici nu mâncaţi nici nu beţi trei zile, noapte sau zi; de asemenea eu şi servitoarele mele vom posti la fel; şi astfel voi merge la împărat, ceea ce nu este conform legii: şi dacă voi pieri, voi pieri.
17 And Mordecai passes on, and does according to all that Esther has charged on him.
Şi Mardoheu a plecat pe drumul lui, şi a făcut conform cu tot ceea ce Estera i-a poruncit.
