Ephesians 4
1 I, the prisoner of the LORD, then call on you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,
Kérlek azért titeket én, ki fogoly vagyok az Úrban, hogy járjatok úgy, mint illik elhívatásotokhoz, melylyel elhívattatok.
2 with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love,
Teljes alázatossággal és szelídséggel, hosszútűréssel, elszenvedvén egymást szeretetben,
3 being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace;
Igyekezvén megtartani a Lélek egységét a békességnek kötelében.
4 one body and one Spirit, according as you were also called in one hope of your calling;
Egy a test és egy a Lélek, miképen elhívatástoknak egy reménységében hívattatok el is;
5 one Lord, one faith, one immersion,
Egy az Úr, egy a hit, egy a keresztség;
6 one God and Father of all, who [is] over all, and through all, and in you all,
Egy az Isten és mindeneknek Atyja, a ki mindeneknek felette van és mindenek által és mindnyájatokban munkálkodik.
7 and to each one of you was given grace, according to the measure of the gift of Christ,
Mindenikünknek pedig adatott a kegyelem a Krisztustól osztott ajándéknak mértéke szerint.
8 for this reason, it says, “Having gone up on high He led captive captivity, and gave gifts to men.”
Ezokáért mondja az Írás: Fölmenvén a magasságba foglyokat vitt fogva, és adott ajándékokat az embereknek.
9 And that, He went up, what is it except that He also went down first into the lower parts of the earth?
(Az pedig, hogy fölment, mit jelentene mást, mint hogy előbb le is szállott a föld alsóbb részeire?
10 He who went down is the same who also went up far above all the heavens, that He may fill all things—
A ki leszállott vala, ugyanaz, a ki fel is ment, feljebb minden egeknél, hogy mindeneket betöltsön.)
11 and He gave some [as] apostles, and some [as] prophets, and some [as] proclaimers of good news, and some [as] shepherds and teachers,
És Ő adott némelyeket apostolokul, némelyeket prófétákul, némelyeket evangyélistákul, némelyeket pedig pásztorokul és tanítókul:
12 to the perfecting of the holy ones, for a work of ministry, for a building up of the body of the Christ,
A szentek tökéletesbbítése czéljából szolgálat munkájára, a Krisztus testének építésére:
13 until we may all come to the unity of faith and of the recognition of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to a measure of stature of the fullness of the Christ,
Míg eljutunk mindnyájan az Isten Fiában való hitnek és az Ő megismerésének egységére, érett férfiúságra, a Krisztus teljességével ékeskedő kornak mértékére:
14 that we may no longer be children, being tossed by waves and being carried around by every wind of the teaching, in the cunning of men, in craftiness, to the scheming of leading astray,
Hogy többé ne legyünk gyermekek, kiket ide s tova hány a hab és hajt a tanításnak akármi szele, az embereknek álnoksága által, a tévelygés ravaszságához való csalárdság által;
15 and [speaking] truth in love, we may increase to Him [in] all things, who is the head—the Christ;
Hanem az igazságot követvén szeretetben, mindenestől fogva nevekedjünk Abban, a ki a fej, a Krisztusban;
16 from whom the whole body, being fitly joined together and united, through the supply of every joint, according to the working in the measure of each single part, the increase of the body makes for the building up of itself in love.
A kiből az egész test, szép renddel egyberakatván és egybeszerkesztetvén az Ő segedelmének minden kapcsaival, minden egyes tagnak mértéke szerint való munkássággal teljesíti a testnek nevekedését a maga fölépítésére szeretetben.
17 This, then, I say, and I testify in the LORD: you are no longer to walk, as also the other nations walk, in the vanity of their mind,
Ezt mondom annakokáért és bizonyságot teszek az Úrban, hogy ti többé ne járjatok úgy, mint egyéb pogányok is járnak az ő elméjöknek hiábavalóságában,
18 being darkened in the understanding, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart,
Kik értelmökben meghomályosodtak, elidegenültek az isteni élettől a tudatlanság miatt, mely az ő szívök keménysége miatt van bennök;
19 who, having ceased to feel, gave themselves up to the licentiousness, for the working of all uncleanness in greediness;
Kik erkölcsi érzés nélkül, önmagukat a bujálkodásra adták, minden tisztátalanságnak nagy nyereséggel való cselekedésére.
20 and you did not so learn the Christ,
Ti pedig nem így tanultátok a Krisztust;
21 if [it] so be [that] you heard Him, and were taught in Him, as truth is in Jesus;
Ha ugyan Őt megértettétek és Ő benne megtaníttattatok, úgy a mint az igazság a Jézusban:
22 concerning the former behavior you are to put off the old man, that is corrupt according to the desires of the deceit,
Hogy levetkezzétek ama régi élet szerint való ó embert, mely meg van romolva a csalárdság kívánságai miatt;
23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
Megújuljatok pedig a ti elméteknek lelke szerint,
24 and to put on the new man, which, according to God, was created in righteousness and kindness of the truth.
És felöltözzétek amaz új embert, mely Isten szerint teremtetett igazságban és valóságos szentségben.
25 For this reason, putting away the lying, each speak truth with his neighbor, because we are members of one another;
Azért levetvén a hazugságot, szóljatok igazságot, kiki az ő felebarátjával: mert egymásnak tagjai vagyunk.
26 be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your wrath,
Ám haragudjatok, de ne vétkezzetek: a nap le ne menjen a ti haragotokon;
27 neither give place to the Devil;
Se pedig az ördögnek ne adjatok helyet.
28 whoever is stealing let him no longer steal, but rather let him labor, working the thing that is good with the hands, that he may have to impart to him having need.
A ki oroz vala, többé ne orozzon; hanem inkább munkálkodjék, cselekedvén az ő kezeivel azt, a mi jó, hogy legyen mit adnia a szűkölködőnek.
29 Let no corrupt word go forth out of your mouth, but what is good to the necessary building up, that it may give grace to the hearers;
Semmi rothadt beszéd a ti szátokból ki ne származzék, hanem csak a mely hasznos a szükséges építésre, hogy áldásos legyen a hallgatóknak.
30 and do not make the Holy Spirit of God sorrowful, in which you were sealed to [the] day of redemption.
És meg ne szomorítsátok az Istennek ama Szent Lelkét, a ki által megpecsételtettetek a teljes váltságnak napjára.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice,
Minden mérgesség és fölgerjedés és harag és lárma és káromkodás kivettessék közületek minden gonoszsággal együtt;
32 and become kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, according as God also forgave you in Christ.
Legyetek pedig egymáshoz jóságosak, irgalmasok, megengedvén egymásnak, miképen az Isten is a Krisztusban megengedett néktek.
