Ecclesiastes 9
1 But all this I have laid to my heart, so as to clear up the whole of this, that the righteous and the wise, and their works, [are] in the hand of God, neither love nor hatred does man know, the whole [is] before them.
Porque todo esto lo puse en mi corazón, para explorar todo esto: que el justo, y el sabio, y sus obras, están en la mano de Dios; si es amor u odio, el hombre no lo sabe; todo está delante de ellos.
2 The whole [is] as to the whole; one event is to the righteous and to the wicked, to the good, and to the clean, and to the unclean, and to him who is sacrificing, and to him who is not sacrificing; as [is] the good, so [is] the sinner, he who is swearing as he who is fearing an oath.
A todos les sucede lo mismo. Hay un mismo acontecimiento para el justo y para el impío; para el bueno, para el limpio, para el impuro, para el que sacrifica y para el que no sacrifica. Como el bueno, así el pecador; el que jura, como el que teme el juramento.
3 This [is] an evil among all that has been done under the sun, that one event [is] to all, and also the heart of the sons of man is full of evil, and madness [is] in their heart during their life, and after it—to the dead.
Este es un mal en todo lo que se hace bajo el sol, que hay un solo evento para todos. Sí, también el corazón de los hijos de los hombres está lleno de maldad, y la locura está en su corazón mientras viven, y después van a la muerte.
4 But [to] him who is joined to all the living there is confidence, for to a living dog it [is] better than to the dead lion.
Pues para el que se une a todos los vivos hay esperanza; porque es mejor un perro vivo que un león muerto.
5 For the living know that they die, and the dead do not know anything, and there is no more reward to them, for their remembrance has been forgotten.
Porque los vivos saben que van a morir, pero los muertos no saben nada, ni tienen ya recompensa, pues su memoria está olvidada.
6 Their love also, their hatred also, their envy also, has already perished, and they have no more portion for all time in all that has been done under the sun.
También su amor, su odio y su envidia han perecido hace tiempo; ni tienen ya parte para siempre en todo lo que se hace bajo el sol.
7 Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a glad heart, for already has God been pleased with your works.
Sigue tu camino: come tu pan con alegría y bebe tu vino con un corazón alegre, porque Dios ya ha aceptado tus obras.
8 At all times let your garments be white, and do not let oil be lacking on your head.
Que tus vestidos sean siempre blancos, y que a tu cabeza no le falte aceite.
9 See life with the wife whom you have loved, all the days of the life of your vanity, that He has given to you under the sun, all the days of your vanity, for it [is] your portion in life, even of your labor that you are laboring at under the sun.
Vive alegremente con la esposa que amas todos los días de tu vida de vanidad, que te ha dado bajo el sol, todos tus días de vanidad, pues esa es tu parte en la vida y en tu trabajo en el que te esfuerzas bajo el sol.
10 All that your hand finds to do, with your power do, for there is no work, and plan, and knowledge, and wisdom in Sheol to where you are going. (Sheol h7585)
Todo lo que tu mano encuentre para hacer, hazlo con tu fuerza; porque no hay obra, ni plan, ni conocimiento, ni sabiduría, en el Seol, adonde vas. (Sheol h7585)
11 I have turned so as to see under the sun, that not to the swift [is] the race, nor to the mighty the battle, nor even to the wise bread, nor even to the intelligent wealth, nor even to the skillful grace, for time and chance happen with them all.
Volví y vi bajo el sol que la carrera no es para el veloz, ni la batalla para el fuerte, ni el pan para el sabio, ni las riquezas para los hombres de entendimiento, ni el favor para los hombres de habilidad; sino que a todos ellos les sucede el tiempo y la casualidad.
12 For even man does not know his time; as fish that are taken hold of by an evil net, and as birds that are taken hold of by a snare, the sons of man are snared like these at an evil time when it falls on them suddenly.
Porque tampoco el hombre conoce su tiempo. Como los peces que son tomados en una red mala, y como las aves que son atrapadas en el lazo, así los hijos de los hombres son atrapados en un tiempo malo, cuando cae de repente sobre ellos.
13 This also I have seen: wisdom under the sun, and it is great to me.
También he visto la sabiduría bajo el sol de esta manera, y me pareció grande.
14 A little city, and few men in it, and a great king has come to it, and has surrounded it, and has built against it great bulwarks;
Había una pequeña ciudad, y pocos hombres en ella; y un gran rey vino contra ella, la sitió y construyó contra ella grandes baluartes.
15 and there has been found in it a poor wise man, and he has delivered the city by his wisdom, and men have not remembered that poor man!
Se encontró en ella un pobre hombre sabio, que con su sabiduría libró a la ciudad; pero nadie se acordó de aquel pobre hombre.
16 And I said, “Better [is] wisdom than might, and the wisdom of the poor is despised, and his words are not heard.”
Entonces dije: “La sabiduría es mejor que la fuerza”. Sin embargo, la sabiduría del pobre es despreciada, y sus palabras no son escuchadas.
17 The words of the wise are heard in quiet, More than the cry of a ruler over fools.
Las palabras del sabio oídas en silencio son mejores que el grito del que gobierna entre los necios.
18 Better [is] wisdom than weapons of conflict, And one sinner destroys much good!
La sabiduría es mejor que las armas de guerra; pero un solo pecador destruye mucho bien.
