Ecclesiastes 3
1 To everything—a season, and a time to every delight under the heavens:
हर एक काम के लिए एक तय समय है, और धरती पर हर एक काम करने का एक समय होता है:
2 A time to bring forth, And a time to die. A time to plant, And a time to eradicate the planted.
जन्म का समय और मृत्यु का समय; बोने का समय और बोए हुए को उखाड़ने का समय.
3 A time to slay, And a time to heal, A time to break down, And a time to build up.
मार डालने का समय और स्वस्थ करने का समय; गिराने का समय और बनाने का समय;
4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh. A time to mourn, And a time to skip.
रोने का समय और हंसने का समय; शोक करने का समय और नाचने का समय.
5 A time to cast away stones, And a time to heap up stones. A time to embrace, And a time to be far from embracing.
पत्थर फेंकने का समय और पत्थर इकट्ठा करने का समय; गले लगाने का समय और गले न लगाने का समय.
6 A time to seek, And a time to destroy. A time to keep, And a time to cast away.
खोजने का समय और छोड़ देने का समय; बचाकर रखने का समय और फेंक देने का समय.
7 A time to tear, And a time to sew. A time to be silent, And a time to speak.
फाड़ने का समय और सीने का समय; चुप रहने का समय और बोलने का समय.
8 A time to love, And a time to hate. A time of war, And a time of peace.
प्रेम का समय और नफरत का समय; युद्ध का समय और शांति का समय.
9 What advantage does the doer have in that which he is laboring at?
मेहनत करनेवाले को उससे क्या लाभ जिसके लिए वह मेहनत करता है?
10 I have seen the travail that God has given to the sons of man to be humbled by it.
मनुष्य को व्यस्त रखने के लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा ठहराए गए कामों का अनुभव मैंने किया है.
11 The whole He has made beautiful in its season; also, that knowledge He has put in their heart without which man does not find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end.
उन्होंने हर एक वस्तु को उसके लिए सही समय में ही बनाया है. उन्होंने मनुष्य के हृदय में अनंत काल का अहसास जगाया, फिर भी मनुष्य नहीं समझ पाता कि परमेश्वर ने शुरू से अंत तक क्या किया है.
12 I have known that there is no good for them except to rejoice and to do good during their life,
मैं जानता हूं कि मनुष्य के लिए इससे सही और कुछ नहीं कि वह जीवन में खुश रहे तथा दूसरों के साथ भलाई करने में लगा रहे.
13 indeed, even every man who eats and has drunk and seen good by all his labor, it [is] a gift of God.
हर एक व्यक्ति खाते-पीते अपनी मेहनत के कामों में संतुष्ट रहे—यह मनुष्य के लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया गया वरदान है.
14 I have known that all that God does is for all time, to it nothing is to be added, and from it nothing is to be withdrawn; and God has worked that they fear before Him.
मुझे मालूम है कि परमेश्वर द्वारा किया गया-हर-एक काम सदा बना रहेगा; ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं कि इसमें जोड़ा नहीं जा सकता या इससे अलग किया जा सके. परमेश्वर ने ऐसा इसलिये किया है कि लोग उनके सामने श्रद्धा और भय में रहें.
15 What is that which has been? Already it is, and that which [is] to be has already been, and God requires that which is pursued.
वह जो है, पहले ही हो चुका तथा वह भी जो होने पर है, पहले ही हो चुका; क्योंकि परमेश्वर बीती हुई बातों को फिर से दोहराते हैं.
16 And again, I have seen under the sun the place of judgment—there [is] the wicked; and the place of righteousness—there [is] the wicked.
इसके अलावा मैंने धरती पर यह भी देखा कि: न्याय की जगह दुष्टता है, तथा अच्छाई की जगह में भी दुष्टता ही होती है.
17 I said in my heart, “The righteous and the wicked God judges, for a time [is] to every matter and for every work there.”
मैंने सोचा, “परमेश्वर धर्मी और दुष्ट दोनों का ही न्याय करेंगे, क्योंकि हर एक काम और हर एक आरंभ का एक समय तय है.”
18 I said in my heart concerning the matter of the sons of man that God might cleanse them, so as to see that they themselves [are] beasts.
मनुष्यों के बारे में मैंने सोचा, “परमेश्वर निश्चित ही उनको परखते हैं कि मनुष्य यह समझ लें कि वे पशु के अलावा और कुछ नहीं.
19 For an event [is to] the sons of man, and an event [is to] the beasts, even one event [is] to them; as the death of this, so [is] the death of that; and one spirit [is] to all, and the advantage of man above the beast is nothing, for the whole [is] vanity.
क्योंकि मनुष्य तथा पशु का अंत एक ही है: जैसे एक की मृत्यु होती है वैसे दूसरे की भी. उनकी सांस एक जैसी है; मनुष्य पशु से किसी भी तरह से बेहतर नहीं, क्योंकि सब कुछ बेकार है.
20 The whole are going to one place, the whole have been from the dust, and the whole are turning back to the dust.
सब की मंज़िल एक है. सभी मिट्टी से बने हैं और मिट्टी में मिल भी जाते हैं.
21 Who knows the spirit of the sons of man that is going up on high, and the spirit of the beast that is going down below to the earth?
किसे मालूम है कि मनुष्य के प्राण ऊपरी लोक में जाते हैं तथा पशु के प्राण पाताल में?”
22 And I have seen that there is nothing better than that man rejoice in his works, for it [is] his portion; for who brings him to look on that which is after him?
मैंने यह पाया कि मनुष्य के लिए इससे बेहतर कुछ नहीं है कि वह अपने कामों में संतुष्ट रहे, यही है उसकी मंज़िल. उसे कौन इस स्थिति में ला सकता है कि वह देख पाए कि क्या होगा उसके बाद?
