< Deuteronomy 1 >

1 These [are] the words which Moses has spoken to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain opposite Suph, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Di-Zahab.
Izao no teny izay nolazain’ i Mosesy tamin’ ny Isiraely rehetra tany an-dafin’ i Jordana, tany an-efitra, dia tany amin’ ny tani-hay tandrifin’ i Sofa, tanelanelan’ i Parana sy Tofela sy Labana sy Hazerota ary Dizahaba.
2 [It takes] eleven days [to go] from Horeb, the way of Mount Seir, to Kadesh-Barnea.
(lalana Iraika ambin’ ny folo andro Kadesi-barnea raha ao Horeba, raha ny lalana mahazo ny tendrombohitra Seïra no aleha.)
3 And it comes to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first of the month, Moses has spoken to the sons of Israel according to all that YHWH has commanded him concerning them,
Ary tamin’ ny andro voalohany tamin’ ny volana fahiraika ambin’ ny folo tamin’ ny taona fahefa-polo dia niteny tamin’ ny Zanak’ Isiraely Mosesy, araka izay rehetra efa nandidian’ i Jehovah azy holazainy aminy,
4 after his striking Sihon king of the Amorite who is dwelling in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan who is dwelling in Ashtaroth in Edrei.
rehefa namono an’ i Sihona, mpanjakan’ ny Amorita, ilay nonina tao Hesbona, sy Oga, mpanjakan’ i Basana, ilay nonina tao Astarta tany Edrehy, izy.
5 Beyond the Jordan, in the land of Moab, Moses has begun to explain this law, saying,
Tany an-dafin’ i Jordana, dia tany amin’ ny tany Moaba, no nanombohan’ i Mosesy nanazava izao lalàna izao hoe:
6 “Our God YHWH has spoken to us in Horeb, saying, For you dwell at this mountain long enough;
Jehovah Andriamanitsika niteny tamintsika tany Horeba ka nanao hoe: Aoka izay ny itoeranareo amin’ ny tendrombohitra ity;
7 turn and journey for yourselves, and go to the mountain of the Amorite, and to all its neighboring places in the plain, in the hill-country, and in the low country, and in the south, and in the haven of the sea, the land of the Canaanite, and of Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates River;
mihodìna ianareo, dia mandehana ka mankanesa any amin’ ny tany havoan’ ny Amorita sy any amin’ izay rehetra ao akaikiny, dia any amin’ ny tani-hay sy ny tany havoana sy ny tany lemaka amoron-tsiraka sy ny tany atsimo sy ny amoron’ ny ranomasina, dia any amin’ ny tanin’ ny Kananita sy any Libanona ka hatrany amin’ ny ony lehibe, dia ny ony Eofrata.
8 see, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which YHWH has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their seed after them.
Indro, efa natolotro eo anoloanareo ny tany, idiro ka lovao ny tany izay efa nianianan’ i Jehovah tamin’ ny razanareo, Abrahama sy Isaka ary Jakoba, homena azy sy ny taranany mandimby azy.
9 And I speak to you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you by myself;
Ary niteny taminareo tamin’ izany andro izany aho ka nanao hoe: Tsy zakako izaho irery ny hitondra anareo;
10 your God YHWH has multiplied you, and behold, today you [are] as the stars of the heavens for multitude;
Jehovah Andriamanitrareo efa nahamaro anareo, ary, indro, efa maro toy ny kintana eny amin’ ny lanitra ianareo izao.
11 YHWH, God of your fathers, is adding to you, as you [are], one thousand times, and blesses you as He has spoken to you.
(Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny razanareo, anie hampitombo anareo ho arivo toraka izao ka hitahy anareo, araka izay efa nolazainy taminareo!)
12 How do I bear your pressure, and your burden, and your strife by myself?
Hataoko izaho irery ahoana no fitondra ny fahasahirananareo sy ny entanareo any ny adinareo?
13 Provide wise and understanding men for yourselves that are known to your tribes, and I set them for your heads;
Mifidiana izay lehilahy hendry sy manan-tsaina ary hita toetra amin’ ny firenenareo, ka hataoko ho lehibenareo izy.
14 and you answer me and say, The thing which you have spoken [is] good to do.
Dia namaly ahy ianareo ka nanao hoe: Tsara ny teny izay nolazainao ka tokony hankatoavina.
15 And I take the heads of your tribes, wise men that are known, and I appoint them [as] heads over you, princes of thousands, and princes of hundreds, and princes of fifties, and princes of tens, and authorities for your tribes.
Ary nalaiko ny lohan’ ny firenenareo, dia olona hendry sady hita toetra, ka nataoko mpifehy anareo, dia mpifehy arivo sy mpifehy zato sy mpifehy dimam-polo sy mpifehy folo ary mpitondra vahoaka amin’ ny firenenareo.
16 And I command your judges at that time, saying, Listen between your brothers—then you have judged [in] righteousness between a man, and his brother, and his sojourner;
Dia nandidy ny mpitsara anareo tamin’ izany andro izany aho ka nanao hoe: Henoy ny adin’ ny rahalahinareo, ka tsarao marina ny olona, na ny tompon-tany, na ny vahiny eo aminy.
17 you do not discern faces in judgment; you hear the little as well as the great; you are not afraid of the face of any, for the judgment is God’s, and the thing which is too hard for you, you bring near to me, and I have heard it.
Aza mizaha tavan’ olona amin’ ny fitsarana, fa henoy ny kely toy ny lehibe; aza matahotra olona akory, fa an’ Andriamanitra ny fitsarana; ary izay sarotra loatra aminareo dia ento etỳ amiko ka hohenoiko.
18 And I command you at that time all the things which you do.
Dia nandidy anareo tamin’ izany andro izany aho ny amin’ ny zavatra rehetra izay hataonareo.
19 And we journey from Horeb, and go [through] all that great and fearful wilderness which you have seen, the way of the hill-country of the Amorite, as our God YHWH has commanded us, and we come to Kadesh-Barnea.
Ary nony niala tany Horeba isika, dia nandeha namaky ilay efitra lehibe sy mahatahotra izay hitanareo teny amin’ ny lalana mankany amin’ ny tany havoan’ ny Amorita, araka izay efa nandidian’ i Jehovah Andriamanitsika; dia tonga tao Kadesi-barnea isika.
20 And I say to you, You have come to the hill-country of the Amorite, which our God YHWH is giving to us;
Dia hoy izaho taminareo: Hianareo efa tonga eto amin’ ny tany havoan’ ny Amonita, izay omen’ i Jehovah Andriamanitsika ho antsika;
21 see, your God YHWH has set the land before you; go up, possess, as YHWH, God of your fathers, has spoken to you; do not fear, nor be frightened.
indro, efa natolotr’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrao eo anoloanao ny tany; iakaro izy ka lovao, araka izay nolazain’ i Jehovah, Andriamanitry ny razanao, taminao; aza matahotra na mivadi-po ianao.
22 And you come near to me, all of you, and say, Let us send men before us, and they search the land for us, and they bring us back word [concerning] the way in which we go up into it, and the cities to which we come in;
Dia nanatona ahy ianareo rehetra ka nanao hoe: Aoka haniraka olona hialoha isika, mba hisafo ny tany ho antsika izy ka hitondra teny amintsika hilaza ny lalana izay halehantsika sy ny tanàna izay hiakarantsika.
23 and the thing is good in my eyes, and I take twelve men from you, one man for the tribe.
Ary sitrako ny teny ka dia nifidy roa ambin’ ny folo lahy teo aminareo aho, may avy isam-pirenena;
24 And they turn and go up to the hill-country, and come to the Valley of Eshcol, and spy it out,
ary niainga ireo ka niakatra tany amin’ ny tany havoana, dia tonga tao amin’ ny lohasaha Eskola ka nisafo ny tany;
25 and they take in their hand from the fruit of the land, and bring [it] down to us, and bring us back word, and say, The land is good which our God YHWH is giving to us.
dia nangalany ny vokatry ny tany ka nentiny nidina tamintsika, dia nilaza tamintsika hoe izy: Tsara ny tany izay omen’ i Jehovah Andriamanitsika ho antsika.
26 And you have not been willing to go up, and you provoke the mouth of your God YHWH,
Kanefa tsy nety niakatra ianareo, fa nandà ny tenin’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrareo.
27 and murmur in your tents, and say, In YHWH’s hating us He has brought us out of the land of Egypt, to give us into the hand of the Amorite—to destroy us;
Dia nimonomonona tao an-dainareo ianareo ka nanao hoe: Halan’ i Jehovah isika, no nitondrany antsika nivoaka avy tany Egypta hanolorany antsika eo an-tànan’ ny Amorita handringanana antsika.
28 to where are we going up? Our brothers have melted our heart, saying, [The] people [are] greater and taller than we; [the] cities [are] great and fortified up to the heavens, and we have also seen sons of Anakim there.
Ho aiza no hiakarantsika? Ny rahalahintsika efa nanaketraka ny fontsika tamin’ ny nanaovany hoe: Lehibe sy lava noho isika ny olona; ary ny tanàna dia lehibe sady misy mànda manakatra ny lanitra; ary efa hitanay teo koa ny taranaky ny Anakita.
29 And I say to you, Do not be terrified, nor be afraid of them;
Dia hoy izaho taminareo: Aza manahy, any aza matahotra azy;
30 your God YHWH, who is going before you—He fights for you, according to all that He has done with you in Egypt before your eyes,
Jehovah Andriamanitrareo, Izay mandeha eo anoloanareo, Izy no hiady ho anareo, araka izay rehetra nataony ho anareo tany Egypta teo imasonareo,
31 and in the wilderness where you have seen that your God YHWH has carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way which you have gone until your coming to this place.
ary tany an-efitra, izay nahitanao ny fitondran’ i Jehovah Andriamanitrao anao tahaka ny fitondran’ ny olona ny zanany, dia teny amin’ ny lalana rehetra izay nalehanareo mandra-pahatonganareo teto amin’ ity tany ity.
32 And in this thing you are not steadfast in your God YHWH,
Kanefa, na dia nataoko aza izany teny izany, mbola tsy ninoanareo ihany Jehovah Andriamanitrareo,
33 who is going before you in the way to search out for you a place for your encamping, in fire by night, to show you in the way in which you go, and in a cloud by day.
Izay nandeha tamin’ ny lalana teo alohanareo hitady tany ho anareo hitobianareo, ka ny afo nony alina sy ny rahona nony antoandro no nisehoany hanoro izay lalana nety halehanareo.
34 And YHWH hears the voice of your words, and is angry, and swears, saying,
Any nandre ny teninareo Jehovah, dia tezitra Izy ka nianiana hoe:
35 Not one of these men of this evil generation sees the good land which I have sworn to give to your fathers,
Tsy hisy olona mihitsy amin’ izao taranaka ratsy fanahy izao hahita ny tany soa izay nianianako homena ny razanareo,
36 except Caleb son of Jephunneh—he sees it, and to him I give the land on which he has trodden, and to his sons, because that he has been fully after YHWH.
afa-tsy Kaleba, zanak’ i Jefone; izy no hahita azy, any izy sy ny zanany no homeko ny tany izay nodiaviny, satria efa tanteraka tamin’ ny fanarahana an’ i Jehovah izy.
37 Moreover, YHWH has been angry with me for your sake, saying, Indeed, you do not go in there;
Ary izaho koa dia notezeran’ i Jehovah noho ny aminareo ka nataony hoe: Hianao koa tsy hiditra any;
38 Joshua son of Nun, who is standing before you, he goes in there; strengthen him, for he causes Israel to inherit [it].
fa Josoa, zanak’ i Nona, izay mitsangana eo anatrehanao, izy no hiditra any, koa izy no ampaherezo, fa izy no hampandova ny Zanak’ Isiraely ny tany.
39 And your infants, of whom you have said, They are for a prey, and your sons who today have not known good and evil, they go in there, and I give it to them, and they possess it;
Ary ny zanakareo madinika, izay nolazainareo fa ho babo, any ny zanakareo izay tsy mahalala ny tsara sy ny ratsy amin’ izao andro izao, dia izy no hiditra any, ary izy no homeko ny tany, ary izy no handova azy.
40 but you, turn and journey for yourselves toward the wilderness, the way of the Red Sea.
Fa ianareo kosa dia miverena, ka mandehana any an-efitra, dia any amin’ ny lalana mankany amin’ ny Ranomasina Mena.
41 And you answer and say to me, We have sinned against YHWH; we go up and we have fought, according to all that which our God YHWH has commanded us; and you each gird on his weapons of war, and you are ready to go up into the hill-country;
Dia namaly ianareo ka nanao tamiko hoe: Efa nanota tamin’ i Jehovah izahay; hiakatra ihany izahay ka hiady, araka izay rehetra nandidian’ i Jehovah Andriamanitsika antsika. Dia samy nivonona tamin’ ny fiadiany avy ianareo rehetra, ka nataonareo ho tsinontsinona ny hiakatra any an-tendrombohitra.
42 and YHWH says to me, Say to them, You do not go up, nor fight, for I am not in your midst, and you are not struck before your enemies.
Dia hoy Jehovah tamiko: Lazao aminy hoe: Aza miakatra ianareo, ary aza miady, fa tsy eo aminareo Aho; fandrao ho resy eo anoloan’ ny fahavalonareo ianareo.
43 And I speak to you, and you have not listened, and provoke the mouth of YHWH, and act proudly, and go up into the hill-country;
Dia niteny taminareo aho, nefa tsy nihaino ianareo; ary nandà ny tenin’ i Jehovah ianareo, dia nanao sahisahy ka niakatra tany an-tendrombohitra ihany.
44 and the Amorite who is dwelling in that hill-country comes out to meet you, and they pursue you as the bees do, and strike you in Seir, even to Hormah.
Dia nivoaka hiady aminareo ny Amorita, izay nonina tamin’ izany tendrombohitra izany, ka nanenjika anareo tahaka ny fanenjiky ny reni-tantely, dia nandringana anareo tany Seïra ka hatrany Horma.
45 And you return and weep before YHWH, and YHWH has not listened to your voice, nor has He given ear to you;
Dia niverina ianareo ka nitomany teo anatrehan’ i Jehovah; nefa tsy nihaino ny feonareo Jehovah, na nanongilana ny sofiny taminareo.
46 and you dwell in Kadesh [for] many days, according to the days which you had dwelt.”
Dia nitoetra ela tao Kadesy ianareo, araka ny andro izay nitoeranareo tao.
