Deuteronomy 6
1 “And this [is] the command, the statutes and the judgments which your God YHWH has commanded to teach you to do in the land which you are passing over there to possess it,
Este es el mandamiento, estas son las leyes y los preceptos que Yahvé, vuestro Dios, mandó que se os enseñase, para que los pongáis por obra en la tierra adonde pasáis para tomarla en posesión,
2 so that you fear your God YHWH, to keep all His statutes and His commands which I am commanding you, you, and your son, and your son’s son, all [the] days of your life, and so that your days are prolonged.
a fin de que temas a Yahvé, tu Dios, de modo que observes todas sus leyes y mandamientos que yo te ordeno: tú, y tu hijo, y el hijo de tu hijo, todos los días de tu vida; y para que vivas muchos días.
3 And you have heard, O Israel, and observed to do [them], that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply exceedingly, as YHWH, God of your fathers, has spoken to you, [in] the land flowing with milk and honey.
Escucha, oh Israel, y pon cuidado en cumplirlos, a fin de que te vaya bien, y crezcáis más y más, según la promesa que te ha hecho Yahvé, el Dios de tus padres, de darte una tierra que mana leche y miel.
4 Hear, O Israel: Our God YHWH—YHWH [is] one!
Oye, Israel: Yahvé, nuestro Dios, Yahvé es uno solo.
5 And you have loved your God YHWH with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
Amarás a Yahvé, tu Dios, con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con todas tus fuerzas.
6 And these words which I am commanding you today have been on your heart,
Y estas palabras que hoy te ordeno estarán sobre tu corazón.
7 and you have repeated them to your sons, and spoken of them in your sitting in your house, and in your walking in the way, and in your lying down, and in your rising up,
Las inculcarás a tus hijos, y hablarás de ellas, ora estando en tu casa, ora viajando, cuando te acuestes y cuando te levantes.
8 and have bound them for a sign on your hand, and they have been for frontlets between your eyes,
Las atarás para recuerdo a tu mano y te servirán como frontales entre tus ojos;
9 and you have written them on doorposts of your house and on your gates.
y las escribirás en los postes de tu casa y en tus puertas.
10 And it has been, when your God YHWH brings you into the land which He has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to you great and good cities which you have not built,
Cuando Yahvé, tu Dios, te haya introducido en la tierra que juró a tus padres, a Abrahán, a Isaac y a Jacob, que te daría: ciudades grandes y espléndidas que tú no has edificado,
11 and houses full of all good things which you have not filled, and wells dug which you have not dug, vineyards and olive-yards which you have not planted, that you have eaten and been satisfied.
casas llenas de toda suerte de bienes que tú no acumulaste, cisternas excavadas que tú no excavaste, viñas y olivares que no plantaste; y cuando comieres y te hartares,
12 Take heed to yourself lest you forget YHWH who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants.
guárdate entonces de olvidarte de Yahvé que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de la servidumbre.
13 You fear your God YHWH, and you serve Him, and you swear by His Name.
A Yahvé, tu Dios, temerás, a Él (solo) servirás, y por su nombre jurarás.
14 You do not go after other gods, of the gods of the peoples who [are] around you,
No os vayáis tras otros dioses, tras ninguno de los dioses de las naciones que os rodean;
15 for your God YHWH [is] a zealous God in your midst—lest the anger of your God YHWH burns against you, and He has destroyed you from off the face of the ground.
porque Yahvé, tu Dios, que habita en medio de ti, es un Dios celoso; no sea que la ira de Yahvé se encienda contra ti y te extermine de sobre la faz de la tierra.
16 You do not try your God YHWH as you tried [Him] in Massah.
No tentéis a Yahvé, vuestro Dios, como le tentasteis en Masá.
17 You diligently keep the commands of your God YHWH, and His testimonies and His statutes which He has commanded you,
Observad fielmente los mandamientos de Yahvé, Dios vuestro, sus testimonios y preceptos que Él te ha prescrito.
18 and you have done that which is right and good in the eyes of YHWH, so that it is well with you, and you have gone in and possessed the good land which YHWH has sworn to your fathers,
Haz lo que es bueno y recto a los ojos de Yahvé, para que te vaya bien y entres a poseer aquella excelente tierra que Yahvé prometió bajo juramento dar a tus padres,
19 to drive away all your enemies from your presence, as YHWH has spoken.
cuando arroje, según su promesa, a todos tus enemigos que se te presenten.
20 When your son asks you hereafter, saying, What [are] the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments which our God YHWH has commanded you?
Cuando el día de mañana te preguntare tu hijo diciendo: ¿Qué son estos testimonios, estas leyes y preceptos que Yahvé, nuestro Dios, os ha mandado?
21 Then you have said to your son, We have been servants of Pharaoh in Egypt, and YHWH brings us out of Egypt by a high hand;
Responderás a tu hijo: ‘Éramos esclavos del Faraón en Egipto, y Yahvé nos sacó de Egipto con mano potente.
22 and YHWH gives signs and wonders, great and severe, on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;
Yahvé hizo a nuestra vista señales y prodigios grandes y terribles contra Egipto, contra el Faraón y contra toda su casa;
23 and He has brought us out from there, in order to bring us in, to give to us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.
mas a nosotros nos sacó de allí, conduciéndonos, a fin de darnos esta tierra que había prometido con juramento a nuestros padres.
24 And YHWH commands us to do all these statutes, to fear our God YHWH, for good to ourselves [for] all the days, to keep us alive, as [at] this day;
Y nos mandó cumplir todas estas leyes y temer a Yahvé, nuestro Dios, para que seamos felices todos los días, y para que Él nos dé vida, como ha hecho hasta ahora.
25 and it is righteousness for us when we observe to do all this command before our God YHWH, as He has commanded us.”
Será nuestro deber cumplir fielmente todos estos mandamientos ante Yahvé, nuestro Dios, como Él nos ha mandado.’
