< Deuteronomy 4 >

1 “And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and to the judgments which I am teaching you to do, so that you live, and have gone in, and possessed the land which YHWH God of your fathers is giving to you.
Oe Isarelnaw nangmouh ni na hring awh teh, mintoenaw ni a bawk e BAWIPA Cathut ni na poe e ram na coe thai awh nahan, na sak awh hane kai ni na cangkhai e phunglawknaw hoi lawkcengnaenaw thai awh haw.
2 You do not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor diminish from it, to keep the commands of your God YHWH which I am commanding you.
Kai ni kâ na poe e lawknaw dawk, bout na thap awh mahoeh. Na rayu awh mahoeh, nangmae BAWIPA Cathut e kâpoelawknaw hah na tarawi awh han.
3 Your eyes are seeing that which YHWH has done in Ba‘al-Peor, for every man who has gone after Ba‘al-Peor, your God YHWH has destroyed him from your midst;
Cathut ni Baalpeor kecu a sak e hah nangmouh ni na mit hoi na hmu awh toe. Baalpeor kângue pueng nangmae BAWIPA Cathut ni nangmouh thung hoi be a raphoe toe.
4 and you who are cleaving to your God YHWH [are] alive today—all of you.
Nangmae BAWIPA Cathut dawk kângue e pueng teh, sahnin ditouh na hring awh.
5 See, I have taught you statutes and judgments, as my God YHWH has commanded me, to do so in the midst of the land to where you are going in to possess it;
Nangmouh ni na cei awh vaiteh na coe hane ram dawk na sak awh hane kaie BAWIPA Cathut ni kâ na poe e patetlah, kai ni phunglawknaw hoi lawkcengnaenaw na cangkhai awh toe.
6 and you have kept and done [them] (for it [is] your wisdom and your understanding) before the eyes of the peoples who hear all these statutes, and they have said, Surely a people wise and understanding [is] this great nation.
Hatdawkvah, hotnaw hah tarawi awh. Hottelah na sak pawiteh, phunglawk ka thai e tami pueng e hmalah nangmae lungangnae hoi panuenae a kamnue han. Ahnimouh ni hete miphunpui teh, lungangnae hoi panuenae hoi ka kawi e miphun katang doeh telah ati awh han.
7 For which [is] the great nation that has God [so] near to it, as our God YHWH, in all we have called to Him?
Maimouh ni ratoum na pueng koe maimae BAWIPA Cathut ni na khet na yawt teh, na pahrennae coe e patetlah alouke cathut ni pahren e miphun apimouh kaawm boi.
8 And which [is] the great nation which has righteous statutes and judgments according to all this law which I am setting before you today?
Kai ni sahnin nangmouh koe ka ta e kâlawk patetlah, phunglawk hoi kalan lah lawkcengnae ka tawn e miphun kalen, apimouh kaawm.
9 Only, take heed to yourself, and watch your soul exceedingly, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they turn aside from your heart all [the] days of your life; and you have made them known to your sons and to your sons’ sons.
Nangmouh ni Horeb mon van na Cathut hmalah, na kangdue awh navah na mit hoi na hmu awh e naw hah pahnim payon avai. Na hringyung thung na pâkuem thai awh nahan, namamouh kâhruetcuet awh. Kâyawm lahoi tarawi awh. Hotnaw hah na catounnaw hai cangkhai awh.
10 [Never forget] the day when you have stood before your God YHWH in Horeb, in YHWH’s saying to me, Assemble the people to Me, and I cause them to hear My words, so that they learn to fear Me all the days that they are alive on the ground, and they teach their sons;
Hatnavah BAWIPA ni, taminaw kai koe kamkhueng sak haw. Ahnimouh ni talai van a hring na thung kai na taki thai awh nahan a catounnaw a cangkhai sak nahanelah ka lawk hah na thaisak han telah kai koe a dei e patetlah,
11 and you draw near and stand under the mountain, and the mountain is burning with fire to the heart of the heavens, [with] darkness, cloud, and thick darkness,
Nangmouh ni rek na tho awh teh mon khok koe na kamkhueng awh. Hatnavah, monsom hmai a kak teh kalvan lungui teh duktamang, tâmai hoi akawi teh duk a kamthim.
12 and YHWH speaks to you out of the midst of the fire; you are hearing a voice of words, but you are seeing no likeness, only a voice;
BAWIPA Cathut ni hmai thung hoi na pato, nangmouh ni a mei na hmawt laipalah lawk duengdoeh na thai awh.
13 and He declares His covenant to you, which He has commanded you to do, the Ten Commandments, and He writes them on two tablets of stone.

14 And YHWH has commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, for your doing them in the land to where you are passing over to possess it.
Nangmouh ni na cei awh teh na coe awh hane ram dawk na sak awh hane nangmouh koe na cangkhai e phunglawknaw hoi lawkcengnaenaw hai Cathut ni kai koe kâ na poe.
15 And you have been very watchful of your souls, for you have not seen any likeness in the day of YHWH’s speaking to you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire,
Horeb vah Cathut ni, hmai thung hoi nangmouh koe lawk a dei navah bang e meilam hai na hmu awh hoeh dawkvah,
16 lest you do corruptly, and have made for yourselves a carved image, a likeness of any figure: a form of male or female,
Nangmouh ni tami napui tongpa mei
17 a form of any beast which [is] in the earth, a form of any winged bird which flies in the heavens,
Talai van kaawm e saring mei, kalvan kamleng e tava mei,
18 a form of any creeping thing on the ground, a form of any fish which [is] in the waters below the earth.
Talai dawk vonpui hoi kâva e saring mei, talai thung tui dawk e tanga mei, hoi kâvan e kutsak hah, nangmouh ni bout na kamlang sin awh teh, namamouh han na sak hoeh nahanelah,
19 And lest you lift up your eyes to the heavens, and have seen the sun, and the moon, and the stars, all the host of the heavens, and have been drawn away, and have bowed yourself to them and served them, which your God YHWH has apportioned to all the peoples under all the heavens.
Kalvan lah na khet teh, Kanî, Thapa, Âsinaw tie kalvan e hno pueng na hmu navah, nangmae BAWIPA Cathut ni, kalvan rahim kaawm e tami pueng koe a poe e hote hnonaw hah, na bawk awh nahane alouke taminaw ni na pasawt thai awh hoeh nahanelah, namahoima kâhruetcuet awh.
20 And YHWH has taken you, and He is bringing you out from the iron furnace, from Egypt, to be to Him for a people, an inheritance, as [at] this day.
Nangmouh teh sahnin e patetlah BAWIPA Cathut e râw ka coe e miphun lah na o sak nahan, nangmouh teh Izip ram sum thawngnae takhuen koehoi na tâcokhai awh toe.
21 And YHWH has showed Himself angry with me because of your words, and swears to my not passing over the Jordan, and to my not going into the good land which your God YHWH is giving to you [for] an inheritance;
Hot dueng laipalah, nangmouh kecu dawk, kai koe Cathut a lungkhuek, Jordan tui namran lah rakat laipalah, na coe awh hane Cathut ni na poe e ram thung vah kâen hoeh nahanelah lawk a kam toe.
22 for I am dying in this land; I am not passing over the Jordan, but you are passing over and have possessed this good land.
Hatdawkvah, hete ram dawk ka due han toe. Jordan tui ka rakat mahoeh nangmouh ni na raka awh vaiteh hote kahawipoung e ram na coe awh han.
23 Take heed to yourselves lest you forget the covenant of your God YHWH which He has made with you, and have made a carved image for yourselves, a likeness of anything [concerning] which your God YHWH has charged you;
Nangmae BAWIPA Cathut ni nangmouh koe na ta pouh e lawkkam na pahnim awh teh, nangmae BAWIPA Cathut ni a cakâ e kutsak na sak awh hoeh nahan, namahoima kâhruetcuet awh.
24 for your God YHWH is a consuming fire—a zealous God.
Bangkongtetpawiteh, nangmae BAWIPA Cathut teh ka kang e hmai, dipma Cathut doeh.
25 When you beget sons and sons’ sons, and you have become old in the land, and have done corruptly, and have made a carved image, a likeness of anything, and have done evil in the eyes of YHWH to provoke Him to anger,
Nangmouh ni na mincanaw na sak awh teh, hote ram dawk moikasawlah na o awh hnukkhu, koung na rawk awh teh buetbuet touh e mei hoi kâlat lah kutsak na sak awh teh, nangmae BAWIPA Cathut a lung hoe na khuek sak awh pawiteh,
26 I have caused the heavens and the earth to testify against you this day, that you perish utterly quickly from off the land to where you are passing over the Jordan to possess it; you do not prolong days on it, but are utterly destroyed;
Jordan tui na raka awh teh na coe awh hane ram thung vah, a ro hoehnahlan na kahma awh han. Moikasawlah kho na sak awh laipalah, khoeroe na kahmakata awh han telah nangmae kong dawk na ka panuek khai e lah sahnin kalvan hoi talai ka palaw.
27 and YHWH has scattered you among the peoples, and you have been left few in number among the nations to where YHWH leads you,
Cathut ni hai nangmouh teh Jentelnaw koe alouklouk lah na kâkapek sak vaiteh, hrek lah kaawm e Jentelnaw koe youn touh na cawi awh han.
28 and you have served gods there, work of man’s hands, wood and stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
Hote hmuen dawk, tami kut hoi sak e, hmawt thai hoeh, thai thai hoeh, cat thai hoeh, a hmui ka thai thai hoeh e thing cathut, talung cathutnaw hah nangmouh ni na bawk awh han.
29 And you have sought your God YHWH from there, and have found [Him] when you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Hateiteh, hote hmuen dawk nangmae BAWIPA Cathut hah bout tawng han na ngai awh toteh, lungthin abuemlahoi na tawng awh pawiteh na hmu awh han.
30 In the distress of yours, when all these things have found you in the latter end of the days, and you have turned back to your God YHWH and have listened to His voice—
Nangmouh ni hmalae tueng dawk, rucatnae na khang awh toteh, hete hnonaw puenghoi na kâhmo awh navah, nangmae BAWIPA Cathut koe lah bout na ban awh teh, lawk na tarawi awh pawiteh,
31 for your God YHWH [is] a merciful God—He does not fail you, nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He has sworn to them.
nangmae Cathut teh pahrennae ka tawn e lah ao dawkvah, nangmanaw na pahnawt awh mahoeh, na raphoe awh mahoeh, lawk a kam e pahnim mahoeh.
32 For ask now of the former days which have been before you, from the day that God created man on the earth, and from the [one] end of the heavens even to the [other] end of the heavens, whether there has been as this great thing, or [if anything] has been heard like it.
Cathut ni talai dawk tami sak kamtawng hoi nangmouh na o hoehnahlan kaloum tangcoung e atueng dawk e hnonaw pueng hah, kalvan apoutnae koehoi avanglah apoutnae koe totouh pacei awh. Hettelah e kalenpounge hno kaawm boi na ou. Het patetlah e hno kamthang thai boi awh na ou.
33 Has a people heard the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, you—and live?
Cathut ni hmai thung hoi a dei e lawk nangmouh ni na thai awh e patetlah alouke miphun ni a thai teh hloutnae a coe awh boi na ou.
34 Or has God tried to go in to take a nation for Himself from the midst of a nation, by trials, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a strong hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that your God YHWH has done to you in Egypt before your eyes?
Nangmae BAWIPA Cathut ni, Izip ram nangmae hmalah a sak e patetlah mitnout panuenae hoi, kângairu hnonaw a saknae, kâtuknae a phasaknae, thaonae kut dâwnae, taki ka tho e vision a sak e lahoi, alouke cathut ni a cei teh, miphun buet touh koehoi buet touh ama hanelah ouk a la boi ou.
35 You—you have been shown [it], to know that He, YHWH, [is] God; there is none else besides Him.
BAWIPA Cathut lah a onae hai thoseh, BAWIPA hoeh laipalah teh alouke cathut a ohoehnae hai thoseh, nangmouh na panue sak hanelah, hotnaw hah nangmouh koe a kamnue sak.
36 He has caused you to hear His voice from the heavens, to instruct you; and on earth He has showed you His great fire, and you have heard His words out of the midst of the fire.
Nangmouh na cangkhai awh teh, kalvan hoi lawk na thaisak toe. Talai van vah kalenpounge hmai hai na hmu sak teh, hmai thung hoi lawk hah na thai awh toe.
37 And because that He has loved your fathers, He also fixes on their seed after them, and brings you out in His presence, by His great power, from Egypt,

38 to dispossess nations greater and stronger than you from your presence, to bring you in to give their land to you [for] an inheritance, as [at] this day.
Nangmouh hlak a tha a sai awh vaiteh, kapap poung e miphunnaw nangmae hmalah hoi ka pâlei teh, sahnin e boiboe lah, a ram dawk a phakhai vaiteh, râw coe sak hanelah, hnotithainae lahoi, Izip ram lahoi na hmalah a hrawi toe.
39 And you have known today, and have turned [it] back to your heart, that He, YHWH, [is] God in the heavens above and on the earth below—there is none else;
Hatdawkvah, BAWIPA Cathut teh lathueng lae kalvan hoi rahim lae talai van hai thoseh, Cathut lah ao teh, alouke cathut awm hoeh tie hah, sahnin panuek awh, na lung thung pâkuem awh.
40 and you have kept His statutes and His commands which I am commanding you today, so that it is well for you, and for your sons after you, and so that you prolong days on the ground which your God YHWH is giving to you—all the days.”
Nangmouh hoi na catounnaw ni khosak ahawi nahan, nangmae BAWIPA Cathut ni na poe e ram dawk, hringsaw nahan thoseh, sahnin kai ni lawk na thui awh e kâpoelawknaw hah, na tarawi awh han telah Mosi ni a dei.
41 Then Moses separates three cities beyond the Jordan, toward the sun-rising,
Hatnavah, imri hah taran laipalah, ka thet payon e tami teh,
42 for the fleeing there of the manslayer who slays his neighbor unknowingly, and he is not hating him before, and he has fled to one of these cities and he has lived:
a yawng vaiteh, a hring hlout nahanelah Jordan palang kanîtholah khopui 3 touh Mosi ni a ta pouh.
43 Bezer in the wilderness, in the land of the plain, for the Reubenite; and Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadite; and Golan in Bashan for the Manassite.
Hete khopuinaw e min teh, Reuben miphun onae kahrawng, Bezer khopui, Gad miphun onae, Gilead ram dawk Ramoth khopui, Manasseh miphun onae Bashan ram Golan khopuinaw doeh.
44 And this [is] the law which Moses has set before the sons of Israel;
Hete kâlawk teh Mosi ni Isarelnaw koe a poe e lah ao.
45 these [are] the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses has spoken to the sons of Israel in their coming out of Egypt,
Ahnimouh ni Izip ram hoi a tâco awh hnukkhu, Heshbon khopui kaawm e, Amor siangpahrang Sihon e ram thung, Jordan tui kanîtholah, Bethpeor khopui dawk kaawm e tanghling dawk Mosi ni a dei e phunglawknaw hoi lawkcengnaenaw doeh.
46 beyond the Jordan, in the valley opposite Beth-Peor, in the land of Sihon, king of the Amorite, who is dwelling in Heshbon, whom Moses and the sons of Israel have struck in their coming out of Egypt;
Mosi hoi Isarelnaw teh Izip ram hoi a tâco awh hnukkhu hote siangpahrang hoi,
47 and they possess his land and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorite who [are] beyond the Jordan, [toward] the sun-rising,
Bashan siangpahrang Og tie Jordan tui namran lah kanîtholah, kaawm e Amon siangpahrang 2 touh a thei teh,
48 from Aroer, which [is] by the edge of the Brook of Arnon, even to Mount Zion, which [is] Hermon—
Ahnimae ram hah Arnon tui teng kaawm e Aroer khopui, Hermon mon tie Zion mon totouh thoseh,
49 and all the plain beyond the Jordan eastward, even to the Sea of the Plain, below the Springs of Pisgah.
Jordan tui kanîtho hoi, kâkuen e talîpui teng, Arabah Pisgah totouh a lawp awh.
