Deuteronomy 32
1 “Give ear, O heavens, and I speak; And you hear, O earth, sayings of my mouth!
Cielo, escucha mientras hablo; Tierra, escucha lo que digo.
2 My doctrine drops as rain; My sayings flow as dew; As storms on the tender grass, And as showers on the herb,
Que mi enseñanza caiga suavemente como la lluvia; que mis palabras caigan ligeramente como el rocío, como una suave lluvia sobre la hierba nueva, como lluvias primaverales sobre las plantas en crecimiento.
3 For I proclaim the Name of YHWH; Ascribe greatness to our God!
Alabaré el carácter del Señor. ¡Que todo el mundo sepa de su grandeza!
4 The Rock—His work [is] perfect, For all His ways [are] just; God of steadfastness, and without iniquity; Righteous and upright [is] He.
Él es la Roca. Todo lo que hace es perfecto, porque todos sus caminos son correctos. Él es el Dios confiable que nunca es injusto; es justo y honesto.
5 It has done corruptly to Him; Their blemish is not of His sons, A generation perverse and crooked!
Sus hijos han actuado inmoralmente con él; por eso ya no son sus hijos a causa de sus manchas pecaminosas. Son un pueblo perverso y corrupto.
6 Do you act thus to YHWH, O people foolish and not wise? Is He not your Father—He who bought you? He made you, and establishes you.
¿Es esta la manera de pagar al Señor, pueblo tonto y necio? ¿No es tu Padre quien te ha creado? ¿No es él quien te convirtió en una nación y te hizo fuerte?
7 Remember days of old—Understand the years of many generations—Ask your father, and he tells you; Your elderly, and they say to you:
Recuerda los tiempos antiguos; piensa en los tiempos pasados. Pregúntenle a Dios y a su padre, y él se los explicará. Hablen con los ancianos, y ellos se lo harán saber.
8 In the Most High causing nations to inherit, In His separating sons of Adam—He sets up the borders of the peoples By the number of the sons of God [[or sons of Israel]].
El Altísimo les dio a las naciones sus tierras cuando dividió la raza humana; fijó sus fronteras según sus dioses.
9 For YHWH’s portion [is] His people, Jacob [is] the line of His inheritance.
Pero el pueblo del Señor es suyo, Israel es su elegido.
10 He finds him in a land—a desert, And in a void—a howling wilderness, He turns him around—He causes him to understand—He keeps him as the apple of His eye.
Los encontró en una tierra desértica, en un páramo desolado de torbellinos. Los protegió, los cuidó, los cuidó como a la persona que más amaba.
11 As an eagle wakes up its nest, Flutters over its young ones, Spreads its wings [and] takes them, Carries them on its pinions—
Como un águila que vigila su nido, revoloteando sobre sus polluelos, extendió sus alas, te recogió y te llevó consigo.
12 YHWH alone leads him, And there is no strange god with him.
El Señor fue el único que te guió; ningún dios extranjero estaba con él.
13 He makes him ride on high places of earth, And he eats increase of the fields, And He makes him suck honey from a rock, And oil out of the flint of a rock;
El Señor te dio el país alto para gobernar, y te alimentó con los cultivos del campo para comer. Te alimentó con miel de la roca y aceite de oliva del peñón de piedra,
14 Butter of the herd, and milk of the flock, With fat of lambs, and rams of sons of Bashan, And male goats, with fat of kidneys of wheat; And of the blood of the grape you drink wine!
Con yogur del rebaño y leche del rebaño, con grasa de corderos, con carneros de Basán, y cabras, junto con el mejor trigo. Bebiste el vino hecho de las mejores uvas.
15 And Yeshurun waxes fat, and kicks: You have been fat, you have been thick, You have been covered. And he leaves God who made him, And dishonors the Rock of his salvation.
Pero Israel, te engordaste y te rebelaste: con grasa, sobrepeso y llenura de comida. Abandonaste al Dios que te hizo y despreciaste la Roca de tu salvación.
16 They make Him zealous with strangers, They make Him angry with abominations.
Celebraste al Señor adorando a dioses extranjeros; lo enojaste con prácticas tan repugnantes.
17 They sacrifice to the demons, not God, To gods they have not known, New ones—they came from the vicinity; Your fathers have not feared them!
Ofreciste sacrificios a los demonios en lugar de a Dios, a dioses que no conocías, a nuevos dioses que tus antepasados no adoraban.
18 You forget the Rock that begot you, And neglect God who forms you.
Abandonaste a la Roca que te engendró; olvidaste al Dios que te dio a luz.
19 And YHWH sees and despises—For the provocation of His sons and His daughters.
El Señor los rechazó cuando vio esto; sus hijos e hijas lo enojaron.
20 And He says: I hide My face from them, I see what their latter end [is]; For they [are] a contrary generation, Sons in whom is no steadfastness.
Dijo: Me apartaré de ellos. ¡Entonces veré qué les pasa! Son un pueblo perverso, hijos infieles.
21 They have made Me jealous by [what is] not God, They made Me angry by their vanities; And I make them jealous by [what is] not a people, I make them angry by a foolish nation.
Me han dado celos adorando cosas que no son Dios; me han hecho enojar con sus ídolos inútiles. Así que los pondré celosos usando un pueblo que no es realmente una nación; los haré enojar usando extranjeros ignorantes.
22 For a fire has been kindled in My anger, And it burns to the lowest [part] of Sheol, And consumes earth and its increase, And sets on fire [the] foundations of mountains. (Sheol h7585)
Mi ira se ha encendido, quemando hasta las profundidades de la tumba, destruyendo la tierra y todo lo que produce, incluso prendiendo fuego a los cimientos de las montañas. (Sheol h7585)
23 I heap calamities on them, I consume My arrows on them.
Amontonaré desastres sobre ellos; usaré mis flechas para dispararles.
24 Exhausted by famine, And consumed by heat and bitter destruction—I also send the teeth of beasts on them, With poison of fearful things of the dust.
Se consumirán por el hambre, destruidos por la enfermedad y la peste venenosa. Enviaré animales salvajes para que los muerdan con sus dientes, los colmillos de las serpientes que se deslizan por el suelo.
25 The sword destroys from outside, And out of the inner-chambers—terror, Both youth and virgin, Suckling with man of grey hair.
Afuera en las calles la espada mata a sus hijos, dentro de sus casas, mueren de miedo; jóvenes y mujeres jóvenes, niños y ancianos.
26 I have said: I blow them away, I cause their remembrance to cease from man;
Les habría dicho que iba a cortarlos en pedazos y borrar incluso su memoria;
27 If I do not fear the anger of an enemy, Lest their adversaries know—Lest they say, Our hand is high, And YHWH has not worked all this.
Pero no quería oír a sus conquistadores burlándose, sus enemigos malinterpretando lo que había pasado y diciendo: “Ganamos por nuestra propia cuenta, el Señor no tuvo nada que ver”.
28 For they [are] a nation lost to counsels, And there is no understanding in them.
Israel es una nación que no piensa con claridad; ninguno de ellos entiende nada.
29 If only they were wise, They would deal wisely [with] this, They would attend to their latter end!
¡Cómo me gustaría que fueran sabios, para que pudieran entenderlo; así reconocerían cuál puede ser su fin!
30 How does one pursue a thousand, And two cause a myriad to flee, If not that their Rock has sold them, And YHWH has shut them up?
¿Cómo podría un hombre perseguir a mil, o dos hacer huir a diez mil, si su Roca de protección no los hubiera vendido, si el Señor no los hubiera entregado?
31 For their rock [is] not as our Rock (And our enemies [are] judges!)
La roca en la que confían no es como nuestra Roca, como incluso nuestros enemigos admiten.
32 For their vine [is] of the vine of Sodom, And of the fields of Gomorrah; Their grapes [are] grapes of gall—They have bitter clusters;
Pero su vid proviene de la vid de Sodoma, de los campos de Gomorra. Sus uvas son venenosas; son racimos amargos.
33 The poison of dragons [is] their wine And the fierce venom of cobras.
Su vino es el veneno de las serpientes, el veneno de las serpientes mortales.
34 Is it not laid up with Me? Sealed among My treasures?
He guardado todo esto; está sellado en mis bóvedas.
35 Vengeance and retribution [are] Mine, At the due time—their foot slides; For near is a day of their calamity, And things prepared for them have hastened.
Me aseguro de que se haga justicia, lo pagaré. Se acerca el momento en que caerán, se acerca el día del desastre, su perdición llegará pronto.
36 For YHWH judges His people, And gives comfort over His servants. For He sees the going away of power, And none is restrained and left.
El Señor va a reivindicar a su pueblo; será misericordioso con sus siervos cuando vea que no les quedan fuerzas y que todos se han ido, ya sean esclavos o libres.
37 And He has said, Where [are] their gods—The rock in which they trusted?
Preguntará: ¿Qué pasó con tus dioses, la roca a la que acudiste para protegerte?
38 Who eat the fat of their sacrifices, [And] drink the wine of their drink-offering? Let them arise and help you, Let it be a hiding place for you!
¿Quién comió la grasa de sus sacrificios y bebió el vino de sus ofrendas? ¡Haz que vengan a ayudarte! ¡Haz que vengan a protegerte!
39 See, now, that I [am] He, And there is no god besides Me; I put to death and I keep alive; I have struck and I heal; And there is not a deliverer from My hand,
¡Escuchen! ¡Yo soy el único Dios! ¡No hay otro Dios excepto yo! Traigo la muerte y doy la vida; hiero y curo. Nadie puede ser rescatado de mi poder.
40 For I lift up My hand to the heavens, And have said, I live for all time!
Levanto mi mano al cielo y declaro solemnemente sobre mi vida eterna,
41 If I have sharpened the brightness of My sword, And My hand lays hold on judgment, I return vengeance to My adversaries, And to those hating Me—I repay!
Cuando afile mi brillante espada y la recoja para ejecutar el juicio, pagaré a mis enemigos y castigaré a los que me odian como se merecen.
42 I make My arrows drunk with blood, And My sword devours flesh, From the blood of the pierced and captive, From the head of the leaders of the enemy.
Mis flechas se emborracharán de sangre, como mi espada come carne; la sangre de los muertos y capturados, las cabezas de los líderes del enemigo.
43 Sing, O nations, [with] His people, For He avenges the blood of His servants, And He turns back vengeance on His adversaries, And has pardoned His land [and] His people.”
¡Celebren con él! ¡Que todos los ángeles de Dios lo adoren! Celebren, extranjeros, con su pueblo; porque él pagará a los que mataron a sus hijos. Castigará a sus enemigos, y pagará a los que lo odien; purificará su tierra y su pueblo.
44 And Moses comes and speaks all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Hoshea son of Nun;
Entonces Moisés vino con Josué hijo de Nun y recitó todas las palabras de esta canción para que el pueblo la escuchara.
45 and Moses finishes to speak all these words to all Israel,
Después de que Moisés terminó de recitar toda la canción a todos los israelitas,
46 and says to them, “Set your heart to all the words which I am testifying against you today, that you command your sons to observe to do all the words of this law,
les dijo: “Piensen en todas estas palabras que les he declarado hoy, para que puedan instruir a sus hijos a seguir cuidadosamente todo lo que está en esta ley.
47 for it [is] not a vain thing for you, for it [is] your life, and by this thing you prolong days on the ground to where you are passing over the Jordan to possess it.”
No traten estas palabras como triviales porque son su vida, y por ellas tendrán larga vida en el país que posean después de cruzar el Jordán”.
48 And YHWH speaks to Moses on this very same day, saying,
Ese mismo día el Señor le dijo a Moisés:
49 “Go up to this Mount Abarim, Mount Nebo, which [is] in the land of Moab, which [is] on the front of Jericho, and see the land of Canaan which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession;
“Sube a los montes de Abarim al monte Nebo, en la tierra de Moab, frente a Jericó, y mira la tierra de Canaán, que doy a los israelitas para que la posean.
50 and die on the mountain to where you are going up, and be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron has died on Mount Hor and is gathered to his people;
“Allí, en el monte que has subido, morirás y te unirás a tu pueblo en la muerte, de la misma manera que tu hermano Aarón murió en el monte Hor y se unió a su pueblo.
51 because you trespassed against Me in the midst of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribath-Kadesh, the wilderness of Zin, because you did not sanctify Me in the midst of the sons of Israel.
“Porque allí, en las aguas de Meribá-Cades, en el desierto de Zin, me fueron infieles. Me representaste falsamente ante los israelitas cuando no me trataste como a un santo en presencia de ellos.
52 Indeed, you see the land before [you], but you do not go in there to the land which I am giving to the sons of Israel.”
Aunque verás el país que les doy a los israelitas desde lejos, no entrarás en él”.
