< Deuteronomy 27 >

1 And Moses and [the] elderly of Israel command the people, saying, “Keep all the command which I am commanding you today;

2 and it has been, in the day that you pass over the Jordan to the land which your God YHWH is giving to you, that you have raised up great stones for yourself, and plastered them with plaster,
Kuzakuthi lapho selichaphile umfula uJodani langena elizweni lelo uThixo uNkulunkulu wenu alinika lona, lizamisa amatshe amakhulu liwahuqe ngekalaga.
3 and written on them all the words of this law in your passing over, so that you go into the land which your God YHWH is giving to you—a land flowing with milk and honey, as YHWH, God of your fathers, has spoken to you.
Lizabhala kuwo wonke amazwi alumthetho nxa selichaphile umfula langena elizweni lelo uThixo uNkulunkulu wenu alinika lona, ilizwe eligeleza uchago loluju, njengalokhu uThixo, uNkulunkulu wabokhokho benu walithembisa.
4 And it has been, in your passing over the Jordan, you raise up these stones which I am commanding you today, in Mount Ebal, and you have plastered them with plaster,
Kuzakuthi lapho selichaphile umfula uJodani, lizamisa amatshe la phezu kweNtaba yase-Ebhali, njengalokhu ngililayile lamuhla, liwahuqe ngekalaga.
5 and built an altar there to your God YHWH, an altar of stones; you do not wave iron over them.
Khonapho yakhelani uThixo uNkulunkulu wenu i-alithari, i-alithari lamatshe. Lingasebenzisi lutho olwenziwe ngensimbi phezu kwawo.
6 You build the altar of your God YHWH [with] complete stones, and have caused burnt-offerings to ascend on it to your God YHWH,
Yakhani i-alithari likaThixo uNkulunkulu wenu ngamatshe angabazwanga linikele phezu kwalo iminikelo yokutshiswa kuThixo uNkulunkulu wenu.
7 and sacrificed peace-offerings, and eaten there, and rejoiced before your God YHWH,
Lizanikela iminikelo yokuthula khonapho, liyidle lithokoze phambi kukaThixo uNkulunkulu wenu.
8 and written on the stones all the words of this law, well engraved.”
Ngakho lizabhala kancane wonke amazwi alumthetho phezu kwamatshe la eliwamisileyo.”
9 And Moses speaks—the priests, the Levites, also—to all Israel, saying, “Keep silent and hear, O Israel: This day you have become a people for your God YHWH;
Ngemva kwalokho uMosi kanye labaphristi abangabaLevi, bathi kubo bonke abako-Israyeli, “Thula uthi zwi wena Israyeli, njalo ulalele! Khathesi selingabantu bakaThixo uNkulunkulu wenu.
10 and you have listened to the voice of your God YHWH, and done His commands and His statutes which I am commanding you today.”
Lalelani uThixo uNkulunkulu wenu futhi lilandele imilayo kanye lezimiso engilitshela zona namuhla.”
11 And Moses commands the people on that day, saying,
Ngalolosuku uMosi walaya abantu wathi:
12 “These stand on Mount Gerizzim to bless the people, in your passing over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.
“Nxa selichaphile umfula uJodani, kuzakuthi izizwana ezibalisa esakoSimiyoni, esakoLevi, esakoJuda, esako-Isakhari, esakoJosefa kanye lesakoBhenjamini zizakuma eNtabeni yaseGerizimu ukuze zibusise abantu.
13 And these stand, for the reviling, on Mount Ebal: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.”
Kodwa izizwana ezibalisa esakoRubheni, esakoGadi, esako-Asheri, esakoZebhuluni, esakoDani kanye lesakoNafithali, zizakuma eNtabeni yase-Ebhali zimemezele iziqalekiso.
14 And the Levites have answered and said to every man of Israel [with] a loud voice:
AbaLevi bazamemezela kubo bonke abantu bako-Israyeli ngelizwi elikhulu bathi:
15 “Cursed [is] the man who makes a carved and molten image, an abomination [to] YHWH, work of the hands of a craftsman, and has put [it] in a secret place.” And all the people have answered and said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu obaza isithombe loba isithombe esibunjiweyo, into eyisinengiso kuThixo, umsebenzi wezandla zomuntu olobungcwethi, asimise ensitha.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
16 “Cursed [is] he who is making light of his father and his mother.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu othelela uyise loba unina ihlazo.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
17 “Cursed [is] he who is removing his neighbor’s border.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu osusa isikhonkwane somngcele wendawo kamakhelwane wakhe.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
18 “Cursed [is] he who is causing the blind to err in the way.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu oduhisa isiphofu endleleni.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
19 “Cursed [is] he who is turning aside the judgment of fatherless, sojourner, and widow.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu ovimbela ukuthonisiswa ngokulunga kowezizweni, lentandane kanye lomfelokazi.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
20 “Cursed [is] he who is lying with his father’s wife, for he has uncovered his father’s skirt.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu olala lomfazi kayise, ngoba ethelela umbheda kayise ihlazo.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
21 “Cursed [is] he who is lying with any beast.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu olala lenyamazana.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
22 “Cursed [is] he who is lying with his sister, daughter of his father or daughter of his mother.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu olala lodadewabo, indodakazi kayise loba indodakazi kanina.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
23 “Cursed [is] he who is lying with his mother-in-law.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu olala loninazala.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
24 “Cursed [is] he who is striking his neighbor in secret.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu obulala umakhelwane wakhe ensitha.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
25 “Cursed [is] he who is taking a bribe to strike a person, innocent blood.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu owamukela isivalamlomo ukuze ayebulala umuntu ongelacala.’ Ngakho abantu bonke bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’
26 “Cursed [is] he who does not establish the words of this law, to do them.” And all the people have said, “Amen.”
‘Kaqalekiswe umuntu ongalaleli amazwi okumlaya ngokuwenza.’ Ngakho bonke abantu bazakuthi, ‘Ameni!’”
