< Deuteronomy 27 >

1 And Moses and [the] elderly of Israel command the people, saying, “Keep all the command which I am commanding you today;
Then Moses and the responsible men of Israel gave the people these orders: Keep all the orders which I have given you this day;
2 and it has been, in the day that you pass over the Jordan to the land which your God YHWH is giving to you, that you have raised up great stones for yourself, and plastered them with plaster,
And on the day when you go over Jordan into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, put up great stones, coating them with building-paste,
3 and written on them all the words of this law in your passing over, so that you go into the land which your God YHWH is giving to you—a land flowing with milk and honey, as YHWH, God of your fathers, has spoken to you.
And writing on them all the words of this law, after you have gone over; so that you may take the heritage which the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has said.
4 And it has been, in your passing over the Jordan, you raise up these stones which I am commanding you today, in Mount Ebal, and you have plastered them with plaster,
And when you have gone over Jordan, you are to put up these stones, as I have said to you today, in Mount Ebal, and have them coated with building-paste.
5 and built an altar there to your God YHWH, an altar of stones; you do not wave iron over them.
There you are to make an altar to the Lord your God, of stones on which no iron instrument has been used.
6 You build the altar of your God YHWH [with] complete stones, and have caused burnt-offerings to ascend on it to your God YHWH,
You are to make the altar of the Lord your God of uncut stones; offering on it burned offerings to the Lord your God:
7 and sacrificed peace-offerings, and eaten there, and rejoiced before your God YHWH,
And you are to make your peace-offerings, feasting there with joy before the Lord your God.
8 and written on the stones all the words of this law, well engraved.”
And put on the stones all the words of this law, writing them very clearly.
9 And Moses speaks—the priests, the Levites, also—to all Israel, saying, “Keep silent and hear, O Israel: This day you have become a people for your God YHWH;
Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, said to all Israel, Be quiet and give ear, O Israel; today you have become the people of the Lord your God.
10 and you have listened to the voice of your God YHWH, and done His commands and His statutes which I am commanding you today.”
For this cause you are to give ear to the voice of the Lord your God, and do his orders and his laws which I give you this day.
11 And Moses commands the people on that day, saying,

12 “These stand on Mount Gerizzim to bless the people, in your passing over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.
These are to take their places on Mount Gerizim for blessing the people when you have gone over Jordan: Simeon and Levi and Judah and Issachar and Joseph and Benjamin;
13 And these stand, for the reviling, on Mount Ebal: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.”
And these are to be on Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
