Deuteronomy 24
1 “When a man takes a wife and has married her, and it has been, if she does not find grace in his eyes (for he has found nakedness in her of anything), then he has written a writing of divorce for her, and given [it] into her hand, and sent her out of his house;
यदि कोई व्यक्ति किसी स्त्री को स्वीकार कर उससे विवाह करने के बाद भी उसमें संतुष्ट नहीं हो पाता, क्योंकि उसने उसमें कुछ अभद्र पाया है; तब वह उसे विवाह विच्छेद पत्र देकर उसे विदा कर देता है,
2 when she has gone out of his house, and has gone and been another man’s,
और वह वहां से जाकर किसी अन्य पुरुष से विवाह कर लेती है,
3 and the latter man has hated her, and written a writing of divorce for her, and given [it] into her hand, and sent her out of his house, or when the latter man dies, who has taken her to himself for a wife,
इसके बाद यह अन्य पुरुष भी उस स्त्री के विरुद्ध हो जाता है और उसे विवाह विच्छेद पत्र देकर विदा कर देता है; अथवा स्थिति यह हो, कि इस अन्य पति की मृत्यु हो जाती है, जिसने उससे विवाह किया था,
4 her former husband who sent her away is not able to return to take her to be to him for a wife, after that she has become defiled; for it [is] an abomination before YHWH, and you do not cause the land to sin which your God YHWH is giving to you [for] an inheritance.
इस स्थिति में उसके उस प्रथम पति को यह आज्ञा नहीं दी जाएगी, कि वह उससे पुनः विवाह कर अपना ले, क्योंकि अब वह दूषित हो चुकी है. यह याहवेह के सामने घृणित है. तुम उस देश में, जो याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हें मीरास के रूप में दे रहे हैं, तुम उस देश पर यह पाप नहीं लगाओगे.
5 When a man takes a new wife, he does not go out into the host, and [one] does not pass over to him for anything; he is free at his own house [for] one year, and his wife, whom he has taken, he has made glad.
कोई भी नवविवाहित व्यक्ति न तो युद्ध पर जाएगा और न ही उसे कोई दूसरी जवाबदारी सौंपी जाएगी. एक वर्ष के लिए उसे घर पर रहने की आज़ादी होना है. वह अपने घर पर ही रहकर एक साल तक अपनी नवविवाहित पत्नी के सुख का ध्यान रखेगा.
6 No one takes millstones and rider in pledge, for it [is one’s] life he is taking in pledge.
कोई भी व्यक्ति किसी की चक्की अथवा चक्की का ऊपरी पत्थर बंधक के रूप में नहीं रखेगा, यह किसी के जीवन को बंधक रखना होगा.
7 When a man is found stealing a person from his brothers, from the sons of Israel, and has tyrannized over him and sold him, then that thief has died, and you have put away evil out of your midst.
यदि किसी व्यक्ति ने अपने किसी इस्राएली स्वजातीय का अपहरण इस उद्देश्य से किया है, कि उसे अपना दास बनाए अथवा उसे बेच दे, और जब वह अपहरणकर्ता पकड़ा जाता है, तो उसका वध कर दिया जाए.
8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, to watch greatly, and to do according to all that the priests, the Levites, teach you; you observe to do as I have commanded them;
कुष्ठ रोग से संक्रमण के प्रति सावधान रहना. बड़ी ही सावधानीपूर्वक तुम लेवी पुरोहितों की शिक्षा का पालन करना. मैंने ही उन्हें इसके विषय में आदेश दिया है. इनका पालन करने में तुम सावधान रहोगे.
9 remember that which your God YHWH has done to Miriam in the way, in your coming out of Egypt.
वह सब तुम्हारी याद से मिटने न पाए, जो मिस्र देश से निर्गमन के मार्ग पर याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर द्वारा मिरियम के साथ किया गया था.
10 When you lift up a debt of anything on your brother, you do not go into his house to obtain his pledge;
जब तुम अपने पड़ोसी को किसी भी प्रकार का ऋण देते हो, तुम इससे संबंधित बंधक लेने के लिए उसके घर में प्रवेश नहीं करोगे.
11 you stand at the outside, and the man on whom you are lifting [it] up is bringing out the pledge to you at the outside.
तुम घर के बाहर ही ठहरे रहना, वह ऋणी ही भीतर जाकर बंधक लाकर तुम्हें सौंपेगा.
12 And if he is a poor man, you do not lie down with his pledge;
यदि वह गरीब है, तुम उसके बंधक को, जो उसका वस्त्र ही होगा, रात में अपने पास न रख लेना.
13 you certainly give back the pledge to him at the going in of the sun, and he has lain down in his own raiment and has blessed you; and it is righteousness to you before your God YHWH.
सूर्यास्त बेला में तुम निश्चित ही उसे वह बंधक लौटा देना, कि वह उस वस्त्र को ओढ़ कर सो सके और तुम्हारे प्रति उसके हृदय से आशीर्वाद निकले. याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में यह तुम्हारे प्रति धर्म समझा जाएगा.
14 You do not oppress a hired worker, poor and needy, of your brothers or of your sojourner who is in your land within your gates;
तुम किसी पारिश्रमिक के लिए लाए गए कंगाल और दीन सेवक पर अत्याचार नहीं करोगे; चाहे वह तुम्हारा स्वदेशी भाई हो अथवा विदेशी, जो तुम्हारे देश में रह रहा है.
15 you give his hire in his day, and the sun does not go in on it, for he [is] poor, and he is supporting his life on it, lest he cries against you to YHWH, and it has been sin in you.
तुम उसे उसी दिन सूर्यास्त के पहले उसकी मजदूरी दे दोगे, क्योंकि वह गरीब व्यक्ति है और उसे इसकी ज़रूरत होगी, कि वह तुम्हारे विरुद्ध याहवेह की दोहाई न दे और यह तुम्हारे विरुद्ध पाप हो जाए.
16 Fathers are not put to death for sons, and sons are not put to death for fathers—they are each put to death for his own sin.
पुत्र के पाप का दंड उसके पिता को न मिले, और न पिता के कारण पुत्र मार डाला जाए, जिसने पाप किया हो वही उस पाप के कारण मार डाला जाए.
17 You do not turn aside the judgment of a fatherless sojourner, nor take the garment of a widow in pledge;
तुम्हारे बीच परदेशी और अनाथ को उसके न्याय के अधिकार से वंचित न किया जाए. किसी विधवा का वस्त्र बंधक न रखा जाए.
18 and you have remembered that you have been a servant in Egypt, and your God YHWH ransoms you from there; therefore I am commanding you to do this thing.
ज़रूरी है कि तुम यह कभी विस्मृत न करो कि तुम खुद मिस्र देश में दास थे और याहवेह तुम्हारे परमेश्वर ने तुम्हें वहां से खरीदा है. इन्हीं बातों के प्रकाश में मैं तुम्हें ये आदेश दे रहा हूं.
19 When you reap your harvest in your field, and have forgotten a sheaf in a field, you do not return to take it; it is for the sojourner, for the fatherless, and for the widow, so that your God YHWH blesses you in all the work of your hands.
जब तुम खेत में उपज की कटनी करो और खेत में से किसी पूली को साथ ले जाना भूल जाओ; तो तुम उसे उठाने के लिए लौटकर न जाओगे. वह पूली विदेशी, अनाथ और विधवा के लिए होगी कि इसके द्वारा याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हारे सारे उपक्रमों में समृद्धि प्रदान करें.
20 When you beat your olive, you do not examine the branch behind you; it is for the sojourner, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
जब तुम अपने जैतून वृक्ष में से एक बार फल एकत्र कर चुको, तुम डालियों से पुनः फल एकत्र न करने लगना, शेष फल प्रवासी अनाथ और विधवा के लिए तय होंगे.
21 When you cut your vineyard, you do not glean behind you; it is for the sojourner, for the fatherless, and for the widow;
जब तुम अपने अंगूर के बगीचे से अंगूर एकत्र करो, तुम लौटकर दोबारा अंगूर एकत्र नहीं करोगे; बचे हुए अंगूर परदेशी, अनाथ और विधवा के लिए तय रहेंगे.
22 and you have remembered that you have been a servant in the land of Egypt; therefore I am commanding you to do this thing.”
ज़रूरी है कि तुम यह कभी न भूलोगे, कि तुम मिस्र देश में दास बने हुए थे, यही वह कारण है कि मैं तुम्हें यह सब करने का आदेश दे रहा हूं.
