Deuteronomy 18
1 “There is not for the priests, the Levites—all the tribe of Levi—a portion and inheritance with Israel; they eat fire-offerings of YHWH, even His inheritance,
੧ਲੇਵੀ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੋਤ ਦਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਂ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਅੱਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਖਾਣਗੇ।
2 and he has no inheritance in the midst of his brothers; YHWH Himself [is] his inheritance, as He has spoken to him.
੨ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਕੋਈ ਭਾਗ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
3 And this is the priest’s right from the people, from those sacrificing a sacrifice, whether ox or sheep, he has even given to the priest the leg, and the two cheeks, and the stomach;
੩ਪਰਜਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬਲੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਹੱਕ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ - ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਬਲ਼ਦ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਲੇਲਾ, ਉਹ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਢਾ, ਦੋਵੇਂ ਗੱਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਢਿੱਡ ਦੇਣ।
4 you give to him the first of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your flock;
੪ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਉਪਜ ਦਾ ਅੰਨ, ਨਵੀਂ ਮਧ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਲ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇੱਜੜ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਕਤਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਉੱਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਓ,
5 for your God YHWH has fixed on him, out of all your tribes, to stand to serve in the Name of YHWH—him and his sons continually.
੫ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੋਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਚੁਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਦਾ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰਨ।
6 And when the Levite comes from one of your cities, out of all Israel where he has sojourned, and has come with all the desire of his soul to the place which YHWH chooses,
੬ਫੇਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਲੇਵੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਵੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਇੱਛਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਵੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਚੁਣੇਗਾ,
7 then he has ministered in the Name of his God YHWH like all his brothers, the Levites, who are standing there before YHWH.
੭ਤਦ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੇਵੀ ਭਰਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
8 They eat portion like portion, apart from his sold things from the fathers.
੮ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਇਦਾਦ ਦੀ ਵਿੱਕਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਖਾਣ।
9 When you are coming into the land which your God YHWH is giving to you, you do not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.
੯ਜਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਜਾਓ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨੇ ਨਾ ਸਿੱਖਿਓ।
10 There is not found in you one causing his son and his daughter to pass over into fire, a user of divinations, an observer of clouds, and an enchanter, and a sorcerer,
੧੦ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਾਂ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘਾਵੇ, ਜਾਂ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੱਸਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਜਾਂ ਮਹੂਰਤ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਜਾਂ ਮੰਤਰ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਜਾਂ ਜਾਦੂਗਰ,
11 and a charmer, and one inquiring from a familiar spirit, and a wizard, and one seeking to the dead.
੧੧ਜਾਂ ਝਾੜਾ-ਫੂਕੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਜਾਂ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਾਂ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਜਾਂ ਭੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਜਾਂ ਮਰਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
12 For everyone doing these [is] an abomination [to] YHWH, and because of these abominations your God YHWH is dispossessing them from your presence.
੧੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਅੱਗੇ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਇੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗਿਓਂ ਕੱਢਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
13 You must be perfect with your God YHWH,
੧੩ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵੋ।
14 for these nations whom you are possessing listen to observers of clouds and to diviners; but you—your God YHWH has not permitted you so.
੧੪ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੱਢਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ, ਮਹੂਰਤ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੱਸਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਣਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ।
15 Your God YHWH raises up for you a Prophet like me out of your midst, out of your brothers—you must listen to Him,
੧੫ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਇੱਕ ਨਬੀ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਣਿਓ।
16 according to all that you asked from your God YHWH in Horeb, in the day of the assembly, saying, Do not let me add to hear the voice of my God YHWH, and do not let me see this great fire anymore, and I do not die;
੧੬ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰੇਬ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਫੇਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾ ਸੁਣੀਏ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਫੇਰ ਇਹ ਵੱਡੀ ਅੱਗ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਮਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਈਏ।”
17 and YHWH says to me, They have done well [in] what they have spoken;
੧੭ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਹ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੋ ਠੀਕ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
18 I raise up for them a Prophet like you out of the midst of their brothers, and I have given My words in His mouth, and He has spoken to them all that which I command Him;
੧੮ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਇੱਕ ਨਬੀ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੇਗਾ।
19 and it has been [that] the man who does not listen to My words which He speaks in My Name, I require [it] of him.
੧੯ਤਦ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਸੁਣੇ, ਜੋ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬੋਲੇਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ।
20 Only, the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My Name, which I have not commanded him to speak, and who speaks in the name of other gods, indeed, that prophet has died.
੨੦ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨਬੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗੁਸਤਾਖ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਹ ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲੇ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਬੋਲੇ, ਉਹ ਨਬੀ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ।”
21 And when you say in your heart, How do we know the word which YHWH has not spoken?
੨੧ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਖੋ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਬਚਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਣੀਏ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਿਆ?”
22 That which the prophet speaks in the Name of YHWH, and the thing is not, and does not come—it [is] the word which YHWH has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it in presumption; you are not afraid of him.”
੨੨ਤਦ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਨਬੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਬੋਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਪੂਰੀ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਬੀਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨਬੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਸਤਾਖ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਬੋਲੀ ਹੈ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਡਰਿਓ।
