< Deuteronomy 18 >

1 “There is not for the priests, the Levites—all the tribe of Levi—a portion and inheritance with Israel; they eat fire-offerings of YHWH, even His inheritance,
Levi acaeng qaimanawk, Levi acaengnawk boih loe Israel kaminawk baktiah qawktoep o mak ai; nihcae loe Angraeng hmaa ah hmai angbawnhaih toksak hoiah ni hing o tih, to tiah sak ih tok loe nihcae ih qawk ah ni oh boeh.
2 and he has no inheritance in the midst of his brothers; YHWH Himself [is] his inheritance, as He has spoken to him.
Nihcae loe angmacae nawkamyanawk salakah qawk tawn o mak ai; nihcae khaeah a thuih pae ih lok baktih toengah, Angraeng loe nihcae ih qawk ah om tih.
3 And this is the priest’s right from the people, from those sacrificing a sacrifice, whether ox or sheep, he has even given to the priest the leg, and the two cheeks, and the stomach;
Kaminawk mah maitaw hoiah maw, to tih ai boeh loe tuu hoiah maw angbawnhaih sak o naah, palaeng, akam huh hnetto hoi tazae taqawnnawk to qaima han paek han oh.
4 you give to him the first of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your flock;
Cang kangtha, misurtui hoi situi, hmaloe koek na aah ih tuumui to anih han paek ah.
5 for your God YHWH has fixed on him, out of all your tribes, to stand to serve in the Name of YHWH—him and his sons continually.
Na Angraeng Sithaw mah acaengnawk boih thung hoiah anih to qoih boeh pongah, anih loe angmah hoi a caanawk khoek to Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah angdoe ueloe, anih ih tok to sah poe tih.
6 And when the Levite comes from one of your cities, out of all Israel where he has sojourned, and has come with all the desire of his soul to the place which YHWH chooses,
Israel kaminawk ohhaih vangpuinawk thungah kaom, Levi kami maeto Angraeng mah qoih ih ahmuen ah kalen parai oephaih hoiah angzo nahaeloe,
7 then he has ministered in the Name of his God YHWH like all his brothers, the Levites, who are standing there before YHWH.
to ahmuen ah Angraeng hmaa ah toksah angmacae Levi acaengnawk baktih toengah, angmah ih Angraeng Sithaw ih ahmin hoiah toksah toeng tih.
8 They eat portion like portion, apart from his sold things from the fathers.
A tawnh ih hmuen to zawh moe, hak ih phoisa khue ai ah loe, caak han koi hmuennawk loe kangvan ah amzet o tih.
9 When you are coming into the land which your God YHWH is giving to you, you do not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.
Na Angraeng Sithaw mah paek ih prae thungah na kun o naah, to ah kaom kaminawk ih panuet thok tuinuen to awt o hmah loe, kuu doeh la o hmah.
10 There is not found in you one causing his son and his daughter to pass over into fire, a user of divinations, an observer of clouds, and an enchanter, and a sorcerer,
Na capa maw, to tih ai boeh loe na canu maw, to tih ai boeh loe hmai hoi angbawnhaih sah kami maw, to tih ai boeh loe angzo han koi hmuen kawng thui kami maw, to ai boeh loe atue khet hoi hmuen kawng thui kami maw, to tih ai boeh loe angmathaih hmuen khet kop kami maw, mauih maw,
11 and a charmer, and one inquiring from a familiar spirit, and a wizard, and one seeking to the dead.
to tih ai boeh loe adoi sah kop kami maw, to tih ai boeh loe pakhra kawk kop kami maw, to tih ai boeh loe kadueh pakhra hoi lokpae thaih kaminawk maw nangcae salakah ohsak han om ai.
12 For everyone doing these [is] an abomination [to] YHWH, and because of these abominations your God YHWH is dispossessing them from your presence.
To baktih hmuen sah kaminawk loe, Angraeng hmaa ah panuet thok kami ah oh o; to baktih panuet thok hmuennawk to a sak o pongah, to kaminawk to na hmaa hoiah na Angraeng Sithaw mah haek boeh.
13 You must be perfect with your God YHWH,
Nang loe na Angraeng Sithaw hmaa ah coek koi om ai ah om ah.
14 for these nations whom you are possessing listen to observers of clouds and to diviners; but you—your God YHWH has not permitted you so.
Na uk han koi prae kaminawk loe atue khet kop kami, angzo han koi hmuen kawng thui kaminawk ih lok to tahngai pae o; toe nang loe to tiah oh hanah, na Angraeng Sithaw mah asaeng ai.
15 Your God YHWH raises up for you a Prophet like me out of your midst, out of your brothers—you must listen to Him,
Na Angraeng Sithaw mah kai baktih kaom kami maeto, nam nawkamya thung hoiah tacawtsak tih; anih ih lok to tahngai oh;
16 according to all that you asked from your God YHWH in Horeb, in the day of the assembly, saying, Do not let me add to hear the voice of my God YHWH, and do not let me see this great fire anymore, and I do not die;
Horeb mae ah amkhuenghaih niah nangcae mah, Ka Angraeng Sithaw ih lok na thaisak hmah loe, to baktih kalen parai hmai doeh na hnusak hmah; ka dueh o moeng tih, tiah nang naa o.
17 and YHWH says to me, They have done well [in] what they have spoken;
Angraeng mah kai khaeah, Nihcae mah thuih o ih lok loe hoih.
18 I raise up for them a Prophet like you out of the midst of their brothers, and I have given My words in His mouth, and He has spoken to them all that which I command Him;
Nang baktiah kaom tahmaa maeto nihcae nawkamyanawk thung hoiah ka tacawtsak moe, anih ih pakha ah ka loknawk to ka suek han; anih mah ka thuih ih loknawk boih nihcae khaeah thui pae tih.
19 and it has been [that] the man who does not listen to My words which He speaks in My Name, I require [it] of him.
Anih mah ka hmin hoi thuih ih loknawk tahngai ai kami, to baktih kami to lok ka caek han.
20 Only, the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My Name, which I have not commanded him to speak, and who speaks in the name of other gods, indeed, that prophet has died.
Toe thuih han ka paek ai ih lok Kai ih ahmin hoiah thui tahmaa, kalah sithawnawk ih ahmin hoiah lokthui tahmaa loe paduek han oh, tiah ang naa.
21 And when you say in your heart, How do we know the word which YHWH has not spoken?
Angraeng mah thui ai ih lok to, kawbangah maw ka panoek o thai han loe? tiah na thuih o nahaeloe,
22 That which the prophet speaks in the Name of YHWH, and the thing is not, and does not come—it [is] the word which YHWH has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it in presumption; you are not afraid of him.”
Tahmaa maeto mah Angraeng ih ahmin hoiah thuih ih lok baktih toengah pha ai, a thuih ih lok baktiah akoep ai nahaeloe, to lok to Angraeng mah thuih ih lok na ai ni. To tahmaa loe angmah koehah ni misahoihaih hoiah lok to a thuih; to pongah anih to zii o hmah.
