Daniel 4
1 “Nebuchadnezzar the king to all peoples, nations, and languages, who are dwelling in all the earth: Your peace be great!
Ναβουχοδονόσορ ο βασιλεύς, προς πάντας τους λαούς, έθνη και γλώσσας τους κατοικούντας επί πάσης της γής· Ειρήνη ας πληθυνθή εις εσάς.
2 The signs and wonders that God Most High has done with me, it is good before me to show.
Τα σημεία και τα θαυμάσια, τα οποία έκαμεν εις εμέ ο Θεός ο Ύψιστος, ήρεσεν ενώπιόν μου να αναγγείλω.
3 How great His signs! And how mighty His wonders! His kingdom [is] a continuous kingdom, and His rule [is] with generation and generation.
Πόσον είναι μεγάλα τα σημεία αυτού· και πόσον ισχυρά τα θαυμάσια αυτού· η βασιλεία αυτού είναι βασιλεία αιώνιος και η εξουσία αυτού εις γενεάν και γενεάν.
4 I, Nebuchadnezzar, have been at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace:
Εγώ ο Ναβουχοδονόσορ ήμην αναπαυόμενος εν τω οίκω μου και ακμάζων εν τω παλατίω μου.
5 a dream I have seen, and it makes me afraid, and the conceptions on my bed, and the visions of my head, trouble me.
Είδον ενύπνιον, το οποίον με κατέπληξε, και οι διαλογισμοί μου επί της κλίνης μου και αι οράσεις της κεφαλής μου με ετάραξαν.
6 And by me a decree is made, to cause all the wise men of Babylon to come up before me, that the interpretation of the dream they may cause me to know.
Διά τούτο εξέδωκα πρόσταγμα να εισαχθώσιν ενώπιόν μου πάντες οι σοφοί της Βαβυλώνος, διά να φανερώσωσιν εις εμέ την ερμηνείαν του ενυπνίου.
7 Then coming up are the scribes, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers, and the dream I have told before them, and its interpretation they are not making known to me.
Τότε εισήλθον οι μάγοι, οι επαοιδοί, οι Χαλδαίοι και οι μάντεις· και εγώ είπα το ενύπνιον έμπροσθεν αυτών, αλλά δεν μοι εφανέρωσαν την ερμηνείαν αυτού.
8 And at last Daniel has come up before me, whose name [is] Belteshazzar—according to the name of my god—and in whom [is] the spirit of the holy gods, and the dream before him I have told:
Ύστερον δε ήλθεν ο Δανιήλ ενώπιόν μου, του οποίου το όνομα ήτο Βαλτασάσαρ κατά το όνομα του Θεού μου, και εις τον οποίον είναι το πνεύμα των αγίων θεών· και έμπροσθεν τούτου είπα το ενύπνιον, λέγων,
9 O Belteshazzar, master of the scribes, as I have known that the spirit of the holy gods [is] in you, and no secret presses you, the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation, tell.
Βαλτασάσαρ, άρχων των μάγων, επειδή εγνώρισα ότι το πνεύμα των αγίων θεών είναι εν σοι, και ουδέν κρυπτόν είναι δύσκολον εις σε, ειπέ τας οράσεις του ενυπνίου μου, το οποίον είδον, και την ερμηνείαν αυτού.
10 As for the visions of my head on my bed, I was looking, and behold, a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height [is] great:
Ιδού αι οράσεις της κεφαλής μου επί της κλίνης μου· Έβλεπον και ιδού, δένδρον εν μέσω της γης και το ύψος αυτού μέγα.
11 the tree has become great, indeed, strong, and its height reaches to the heavens, and its vision to the end of the whole land;
Το δένδρον εμεγαλύνθη και ενεδυναμώθη και το ύψος αυτού έφθανεν έως του ουρανού, και η θέα αυτού έως των περάτων πάσης της γης.
12 its leaves [are] beautiful, and its budding great, and food for all [is] in it: under it the beast of the field takes shade, and in its boughs dwell the birds of the heavens, and of it are all flesh fed.
Τα φύλλα αυτού ήσαν ώραία και ο καρπός αυτού πολύς και εν αυτώ ήτο τροφή πάντων· υπό την σκιάν αυτού ανεπαύοντο τα θηρία του αγρού, και εν τοις κλάδοις αυτού κατεσκήνουν τα πετεινά του ουρανού, και εξ αυτού ετρέφετο πάσα σαρξ.
13 I was looking, in the visions of my head on my bed, and behold, a sifter, even a holy one, from the heavens is coming down.
Είδον εν ταις οράσεσι της κεφαλής μου επί της κλίνης μου και ιδού, φύλαξ και άγιος κατέβη εκ του ουρανού,
14 He is calling mightily, and thus has said, Cut down the tree, and cut off its branches, shake off its leaves, and scatter its budding, move away let the beast from under it, and the birds from off its branches;
και εφώνησε μεγαλοφώνως και είπεν ούτω· Κόψατε το δένδρον και αποκόψατε τους κλάδους αυτού· εκτινάξατε τα φύλλα αυτού και διασκορπίσατε τον καρπόν αυτού· ας φύγωσι τα θηρία υποκάτωθεν αυτού και τα πετεινά από των κλάδων αυτού·
15 but the stump of its roots leave in the earth, even with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field, and with the dew of the heavens is it wet, and with the beasts [is] his portion in the herb of the earth;
το στέλεχος όμως των ριζών αυτού αφήσατε εν τη γη, και τούτο με δεσμόν σιδηρούν και χαλκούν, εν τω τρυφερώ χόρτω του αγρού· και θέλει βρέχεσθαι με την δρόσον του ουρανού και η μερίς αυτού θέλει είσθαι μετά των θηρίων εν τω χόρτω της γής·
16 his heart from man’s is changed, and the heart of a beast is given to him, and seven times pass over him;
η καρδία αυτού θέλει μεταβληθή εκ της ανθρωπίνης και θέλει δοθή εις αυτόν καρδία θηρίου· και επτά καιροί θέλουσι παρέλθει επ' αυτόν.
17 by the decree of the sifters [is] the sentence, and by the saying of the holy ones the requirement, to the intent that the living may know that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He wills He gives it, and the lowest of men He raises up over it.
Το πράγμα τούτο είναι διά προστάγματος των φυλάκων και η υπόθεσις διά του λόγου των αγίων· ώστε να γνωρίσωσιν οι ζώντες, ότι ο Ύψιστος είναι Κύριος της βασιλείας των ανθρώπων, και εις όντινα θέλει δίδει αυτήν, και το εξουθένημα των ανθρώπων καθιστά επ' αυτήν.
18 This dream I have seen, I King Nebuchadnezzar; and you, O Belteshazzar, tell the interpretation, because that all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to cause me to know the interpretation, and you [are] able, for the spirit of the holy gods [is] in you.”
Τούτο το ενύπνιον είδον εγώ ο Ναβουχοδονόσορ ο βασιλεύς· και συ, Βαλτασάσαρ, ειπέ την ερμηνείαν αυτού· διότι πάντες οι σοφοί του βασιλείου μου δεν είναι ικανοί να φανερώσωσι προς εμέ την ερμηνείαν· συ δε είσαι ικανός· διότι το πνεύμα των αγίων θεών είναι εν σοι.
19 Then Daniel, whose name [is] Belteshazzar, has been astonished about one hour, and his thoughts trouble him; the king has answered and said, “O Belteshazzar, do not let the dream and its interpretation trouble you.” Belteshazzar has answered and said, “My lord, the dream—to those hating you, and its interpretation—to your enemies!
Τότε ο Δανιήλ, του οποίου το όνομα ήτο Βαλτασάσαρ, έμεινεν εκστατικός έως μιας ώρας, και οι διαλογισμοί αυτού ετάραττον αυτόν. Ο βασιλεύς ελάλησε και είπε, Βαλτασάσαρ, ας μη σε ταράττη το ενύπνιον ή η ερμηνεία αυτού. Ο Βαλτασάσαρ απεκρίθη και είπε, Κύριέ μου, το ενύπνιον ας επέλθη επί τους μισούντάς σε και η ερμηνεία αυτού επί τους εχθρούς σου.
20 The tree that you have seen, that has become great and strong, and its height reaches to the heavens, and its vision to all the land,
Το δένδρον, το οποίον είδες, το αυξηθέν και ενδυναμωθέν, του οποίου το ύψος έφθανεν έως του ουρανού και η θέα αυτού επί πάσαν την γην,
21 and its leaves [are] beautiful, and its budding great, and food for all [is] in it, under it the beast of the field dwells, and on its boughs the birds of the heavens sit.
και τα φύλλα αυτού ήσαν ώραία και ο καρπός αυτού πολύς, και τροφή πάντων ήτο εν αυτώ, και υποκάτω αυτού κατώκουν τα θηρία του αγρού, εν δε τοις κλάδοις αυτού κατεσκήνουν τα πετεινά του ουρανού,
22 It [is] you, O king, for you have become great and mighty, and your greatness has become great, and has reached to the heavens, and your dominion to the end of the earth;
συ είσαι το δένδρον τούτο, βασιλεύ, όστις εμεγαλύνθης και ενεδυναμώθης· και η μεγαλωσύνη σου υψώθη και έφθασεν έως του ουρανού και η εξουσία σου έως των περάτων της γης.
23 and that which the king has seen—a sifter, even a holy one, coming down from the heavens, and he has said, Cut down the tree, and destroy it; but the stump of its roots leave in the earth, even with a band of iron and bronze, in the tender grass of the field, and with the dew of the heavens it is wet, and with the beast of the field [is] his portion, until seven times pass over him.
Περί δε του ότι είδεν ο βασιλεύς φύλακα και άγιον καταβαίνοντα εκ του ουρανού και λέγοντα, Κόψατε το δένδρον και καταστρέψατε αυτό· μόνον το στέλεχος των ριζών αυτού αφήσατε εν τη γη, και τούτο με δεσμόν σιδηρούν και χαλκούν, εν τω τρυφερώ χόρτω του αγρού· και ας βρέχηται υπό της δρόσου του ουρανού και μετά των θηρίων του αγρού ας ήναι η μερίς αυτού, εωσού παρέλθωσιν επτά καιροί επ' αυτό·
24 This [is] the interpretation, O king, and it [is] the decree of the Most High that has come against my lord the king:
αύτη είναι η ερμηνεία, βασιλεύ, και αύτη η απόφασις του Υψίστου, ήτις έφθασεν επί τον κύριόν μου τον βασιλέα·
25 and they are driving you away from men, and your dwelling is with the beast of the field, and they cause you to eat the herb as oxen, and they are wetting you by the dew of the heavens, and pass over you seven times, until you know that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He wills He gives it.
και θέλεις διωχθή εκ των ανθρώπων και μετά των θηρίων του αγρού θέλει είσθαι η κατοικία σου, και θέλεις τρώγει χόρτον ως οι βόες και υπό της δρόσου του ουρανού θέλεις βρέχεσθαι· και επτά καιροί θέλουσι παρέλθει επί σε, εωσού γνωρίσης ότι ο Ύψιστος είναι Κύριος της βασιλείας των ανθρώπων και εις όντινα θέλει, δίδει αυτήν.
26 And that which they said—to leave the stump of the roots of the tree; your kingdom abides for you, after that you know that the heavens are ruling.
Περί δε του ότι προσετάχθη να αφήσωσι το στέλεχος των ριζών του δένδρου· το βασίλειόν σου θέλει στερεωθή εν σοι, αφού γνωρίσης την ουράνιον εξουσίαν.
27 Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and your sins by righteousness break off, and your perversity by pitying the poor, behold, it is a lengthening of your ease.”
Διά τούτο, βασιλεύ, ας γείνη δεκτή η συμβουλή μου προς σε, και έκκοψον τας αμαρτίας σου διά δικαιοσύνης και τας ανομίας σου διά οικτιρμών πενήτων· ίσως και διαρκέση η ευημερία σου.
28 All—has come on Nebuchadnezzar the king.
Πάντα ταύτα ήλθον επί τον Ναβουχοδονόσορ τον βασιλέα.
29 At the end of twelve months, on the palace of the kingdom of Babylon he has been walking;
Εν τω τέλει δώδεκα μηνών, ενώ περιεπάτει επί του βασιλικού παλατίου της Βαβυλώνος,
30 the king has answered and said, “Is this not that great Babylon that I have built, for the house of the kingdom, in the might of my strength, and for the glory of my honor?”
ελάλησεν ο βασιλεύς και είπε, Δεν είναι αύτη η Βαβυλών η μεγάλη, την οποίαν εγώ ωκοδόμησα διά καθέδραν του βασιλείου με την ισχύν της δυνάμεώς μου και εις τιμήν της δόξης μου;
31 While the word is [in] the king’s mouth a voice from the heavens has fallen: “They are saying to you: O Nebuchadnezzar the king, the kingdom has passed from you,
Ο λόγος ήτο έτι εν τω στόματι του βασιλέως και έγεινε φωνή εξ ουρανού λέγουσα, Προς σε αναγγέλλεται, Ναβουχοδονόσορ βασιλεύ· η βασιλεία παρήλθεν από σού·
32 and from men they are driving you away, and your dwelling [is] with the beast of the field, they cause you to eat the herb as oxen, and pass over you seven times, until you know that the Most High is ruler in the kingdom of men, and to whom He wills He gives it.”
και θέλεις εκδιωχθή εκ των ανθρώπων και μετά των θηρίων του αγρού θέλει είσθαι η κατοικία σου· χόρτον ως οι βόες θέλεις τρώγει, και επτά καιροί θέλουσι παρέλθει επί σε, εωσού γνωρίσης ότι ο Ύψιστος είναι Κύριος της βασιλείας των ανθρώπων, και εις όντινα θέλει, δίδει αυτήν.
33 In that hour the thing has been fulfilled on Nebuchadnezzar, and from men he is driven, and he eats the herb as oxen, and his body is wet by the dew of the heavens, until his hair has become great as eagles, and his nails as birds.
Εν αυτή τη ώρα ο λόγος εξετελέσθη επί τον Ναβουχοδονόσορ· και εξεδιώχθη εκ των ανθρώπων και χόρτον ως οι βόες έτρωγε και υπό της δρόσου του ουρανού το σώμα αυτού εβρέχετο, εωσού αι τρίχες αυτού ηυξήνθησαν ως αετών πτερά και οι όνυχες αυτού ως ορνέων.
34 “And at the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, have lifted up my eyes to the heavens, and my understanding returns to me, and I have blessed the Most High, and the Perpetual Living One I have praised and honored, whose dominion [is] a continuous dominion, and His kingdom with generation and generation;
Και εν τέλει των ημερών, εγώ ο Ναβουχοδονόσορ εσήκωσα τους οφθαλμούς μου προς τον ουρανόν και αι φρένες μου επέστρεψαν εις εμέ και ευλόγησα τον Ύψιστον και ήνεσα και εδόξασα τον ζώντα εις τον αιώνα, του οποίου η εξουσία είναι εξουσία αιώνιος και η βασιλεία αυτού εις γενεάν και γενεάν,
35 and all who are dwelling on the earth are reckoned as nothing, and according to His will He is doing among the forces of the heavens and those dwelling on the earth, and there is none that claps with his hand and says to Him, What have You done?
και πάντες οι κάτοικοι της γης λογίζονται ενώπιον αυτού ως ουδέν, και κατά την θέλησιν αυτού πράττει εις το στράτευμα του ουρανού και εις τους κατοίκους της γης, και δεν υπάρχει ο εμποδίζων την χείρα αυτού ή ο λέγων προς αυτόν, Τι έκαμες;
36 At that time my understanding returns to me, and for the glory of my kingdom, my honor and my brightness return to me, and to me my counselors and my great men seek, and over my kingdom I have been made right, and abundant greatness has been added to me.
Εν τω αυτώ καιρώ αι φρένες μου επέστρεψαν εις εμέ· και προς δόξαν της βασιλείας μου επανήλθεν εις εμέ η λαμπρότης μου και η μορφή μου και οι αυλικοί μου και οι μεγιστάνές μου με εζήτουν, και εστερεώθην εν τη βασιλεία μου και μεγαλειότης περισσοτέρα προσετέθη εις εμέ.
37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, am praising and exalting and honoring the King of the heavens, for all His works [are] truth, and His paths judgment, and those walking in pride He is able to humble.”
Τώρα εγώ ο Ναβουχοδονόσορ αινώ και υπερυψώ και δοξάζω τον βασιλέα του ουρανού, διότι πάντα τα έργα αυτού είναι αλήθεια και αι οδοί αυτού κρίσις, και τους περιπατούντας εν τη υπερηφανία δύναται να ταπεινώση.
