Acts 8
1 And Saul was assenting to his death, and there came in that day a great persecution on the Assembly in Jerusalem, all were also scattered abroad in the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles;
Saulus billigte die Ermordung des Stephanus. An jenem Tag brach eine große Verfolgung los gegen die Gemeinde in Jerusalem; und alle, mit Ausnahme der Apostel, zerstreuten sich über ganz Judäa und Samaria.
2 and devout men carried Stephen away, and made great lamentation over him;
Einige fromme Heiden, die zum Judentum übergetreten waren, bestatteten Stephanus und hielten ihm zu Ehren eine große Totenklage.
3 and Saul was making havoc of the Assembly, entering into every house, and dragging away men and women, giving them up to prison;
Saulus aber wütete gegen die Gemeinde: er drang in die Häuser ein, schleppte Männer und Weiber weg und ließ sie ins Gefängnis werfen.
4 they then indeed, having been scattered, went abroad proclaiming good news—the word.
Die Zerstreuten zogen im Land umher und verkündigten das Wort.
5 And Philip having gone down to a city of Samaria, was preaching the Christ to them;
So kam Philippus in die Stadt Samaria und predigte dort von Christus.
6 the multitudes were also giving heed to the things spoken by Philip, with one accord, in their hearing and seeing the signs that he was doing,
Die Bewohner zeigten einmütig Teilnahme für die Worte des Philippus, als sie ihm zuhörten und die Wunderzeichen sah, die er tat.
7 for unclean spirits came forth from many who were possessed, crying with a loud voice, and many who have been paralytic and lame were healed,
Denn mit lautem Geschrei fuhren unreine Geister von vielen Besessenen aus, auch zahlreiche Gelähmte und Krüppel wurden gesund.
8 and there was great joy in that city.
Darüber herrschte große Freude in jener Stadt.
9 And a certain man, by name Simon, was previously in the city using magic, and amazing the nation of Samaria, saying himself to be a certain great one,
Nun hatte schon länger ein Mann, mit Namen Simon, in der Stadt Zauberei getrieben und die Einwohner Samarias in Staunen versetzt; denn er gab sich für etwas Großes aus.
10 to whom they were all giving heed, from small to great, saying, “This one is the great power of God”;
Alle, klein und groß, hielten ihn hoch und sprachen: "Der Mann ist Gottes Kraft, ja die Kraft, die man die große nennt."
11 and they were giving heed to him, because of his having amazed them for a long time with deeds of magic.
Sein Einfluß auf die Leute war deshalb so groß, weil er sie lange Zeit mit seinen Zauberkünsten betört hatte.
12 And when they believed Philip, proclaiming good news, the things concerning the Kingdom of God and the Name of Jesus Christ, they were immersed—both men and women;
Als nun Philippus die Frohe Botschaft von Gottes Königreich und dem Namen Jesu Christi verkündigte, wurden die Leute gläubig, und Männer und Weiber ließen sich taufen.
13 and Simon himself also believed, and having been immersed, he was continuing with Philip, beholding also signs and mighty acts being done, he was amazed.
Auch Simon ward gläubig und empfing die Taufe. Von da an war er ein steter Begleiter des Philippus, und als er die Zeichen und großen Wunder sah, die da geschahen, war er vor Staunen außer sich.
14 And the apostles in Jerusalem having heard that Samaria has received the word of God, sent Peter and John to them,
Als die Apostel in Jerusalem erfuhren, Samaria habe das Wort Gottes angenommen, da sandten sie Petrus und Johannes dorthin.
15 who having come down prayed concerning them, that they may receive the Holy Spirit—
Diese kamen und beteten für die Gläubigen, daß sie den Heiligen Geist empfingen.
16 for as yet He was fallen on none of them, and only they have been immersed—into the Name of the Lord Jesus;
Denn er war noch auf keinen einzigen von ihnen gefallen, sondern sie waren nur in den Namen des Herrn Jesus getauft.
17 then they were laying hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
Da legten ihnen die beiden Apostel die Hände auf, und sie empfingen den Heiligen Geist.
18 And Simon, having beheld that through the laying on of the hands of the apostles the Holy Spirit is given, brought money before them,
Als Simon sah, daß durch die Handauflegung der Apostel der Heilige Geist gegeben wurde, bot er ihnen Geld an
19 saying, “Give also to me this authority, that on whomsoever I may lay the hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.”
und sprach: "Gebt mir auch diese Macht, daß jeder, dem ich die Hände auflege, den Heiligen Geist empfange!"
20 And Peter said to him, “Your silver with you—may it be to destruction! Because you thought to possess the gift of God through money;
Petrus antwortete ihm: "Dein Geld fahre mit dir ins Verderben, weil du gemeint hast, Gottes Gabe lasse sich mit Geld erkaufen!
21 you have neither part nor lot in this thing, for your heart is not right before God;
Du hast daran nicht Teil noch Erbe. Denn dein Herz ist nicht aufrichtig vor Gott.
22 convert, therefore, from this your wickedness, and implore God, if then the purpose of your heart may be forgiven you,
Bekehre dich nun von dieser deiner Bosheit und bete zum Herrn: vielleicht findest du Vergebung für das, was du in deinem Herzen vorhast.
23 for in the gall of bitterness, and bond of unrighteousness, I perceive you being.”
Denn ich sehe, du bist voll Gift und Galle und von den Ketten der Ungerechtigkeit gebunden."
24 And Simon answering, said, “Implore for me to the LORD, that nothing may come on me of the things you have spoken.”
Da antwortete Simon: "Betet ihr für mich zum Herrn, daß nichts von dem mich treffe, was ihr geredet habt!"
25 They indeed, therefore, having testified fully, and spoken the word of the LORD, turned back to Jerusalem; they also proclaimed good news in many villages of the Samaritans.
Als die beiden Apostel ein feierliches Zeugnis abgelegt und das Wort des Herrn verkündigt hatten, kehrten sie nach Jerusalem zurück und predigten (auf dem Weg dahin) in vielen samaritischen Orten die Frohe Botschaft.
26 And a messenger of the LORD spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise, and go on toward the south, on the way that is going down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is desolate.)
Unterdes sprach ein Engel des Herrn zu Philippus: "Mache dich auf und gehe um die Mittagszeit auf die Straße, die von Jerusalem nach Gaza hinabführt!" — Der Weg ist einsam. —
27 And having arisen, he went on, and behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch, a man of rank, of Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship;
Philippus machte sich auf und ging hin. Nun hatte gerade ein Mann aus Äthiopien, der als Großschatzmeister ein hoher Würdenträger der äthiopischen Königin Kandaze war, Jerusalem besucht, um dort anzubeten.
28 he was also returning, and is sitting on his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah.
Der war jetzt auf dem Heimweg: er saß in seinem Wagen und las den Propheten Jesaja.
29 And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near, and be joined to this chariot”;
Da sprach der Geist zu Philippus: "Geh hin und mache dich heran an diesen Wagen!"
30 and Philip having run near, heard him reading the prophet Isaiah and said, “Do you then know what you read?”
Als Philippus hin eilte, hörte er, wie der Äthiopier den Propheten Jesaja las. Da fragte er ihn: "Verstehst du denn auch, was du liest?"
31 And he said, “Why, how am I able, if someone may not guide me?” He called Philip also, having come up, to sit with him.
Er antwortete: "Wie sollte ich das können, ohne daß es mir einer erklärt?" Dann lud er Philippus ein, sich zu ihm in den Wagen zu setzen.
32 And the passage of the Writing that he was reading was this: “He was led as a sheep to slaughter, And as a lamb before his shearer is silent, So He does not open His mouth;
Er las aber gerade den Schriftabschnitt: Man hat ihn wie ein Schaf zur Schlachtbank hingeführt; und wie ein Lamm vor seinem Scherer stumm ist, so hat er seinen Mund nicht aufgetan.
33 In His humiliation His judgment was taken away, And His generation—who will declare? Because His life is taken from the earth.”
In seiner Niedrigkeit ward ihm gerechter Urteilsspruch versagt. Wer kann seine Zeitgenossen (in ihrer Bosheit) schildern? Denn man hat sein Leben von der Erde ausgerottet.
34 And the eunuch answering Philip said, “I beg you, about whom does the prophet say this? About himself, or about some other one?”
Der Schatzmeister fragte Philippus: "Ich bitte dich, sage mir, von wem redet der Prophet diese Worte: von sich selbst oder von einem anderen?"
35 And Philip having opened his mouth, and having begun from this Writing, proclaimed good news to him—Jesus.
Da tat Philippus seinen Mund auf und, ausgehend von dieser Schriftstelle, verkündigte er ihm die Frohe Botschaft von Jesus.
36 And as they were going on the way, they came on some water, and the eunuch said, “Behold, water; what hinders me to be immersed?”
Als sie die Straße weiterfuhren, kamen sie zu einem Wasser. Da sagte der Schatzmeister: "Hier ist ja Wasser, was steht meiner Taufe im Weg?"
37 [[And Philip said, “If you believe out of all the heart, it is lawful”; and he answering said, “I believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God”; ]]
38 and he commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down to the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he immersed him;
Er ließ nun den Wagen halten, und beide, Philippus und der Schatzmeister, stiegen hinein in das Wasser, und Philippus taufte ihn.
39 and when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the LORD snatched up Philip, and the eunuch saw him no more, for he was going on his way rejoicing;
Als sie wieder aus dem Wasser gestiegen waren, entrückte des Herrn Geist den Philippus. Der Schatzmeister sah ihn nicht mehr. Doch freudig zog er seines Weges weiter.
40 and Philip was found at Azotus, and passing through, he was proclaiming good news to all the cities, until his coming to Caesarea.
Philippus aber trat in Asdod auf. Von dort zog er von Stadt zu Stadt und verkündigte überall die Frohe Botschaft. So kam er nach Cäsarea.
