Acts 7
1 And the chief priest said, “Are then these things so?”

2 And he said, “Men, brothers, and fathers, listen! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, being in Mesopotamia, before his dwelling in Haran,
Il dit: « Frères et pères, écoutez. Le Dieu de gloire est apparu à notre père Abraham lorsqu'il était en Mésopotamie, avant qu'il n'habite à Haran,
3 and He said to him, Go forth out of your land, and out of your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.
et il lui a dit: « Quitte ton pays et ta famille, et viens dans un pays que je te montrerai ».
4 Then having come forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, he dwelt in Haran, and from there, after the death of his father, He removed him to this land wherein you now dwell,
Il sortit donc du pays des Chaldéens et s'installa à Haran. De là, après la mort de son père, Dieu le fit venir dans ce pays où vous vivez maintenant.
5 and He gave him no inheritance in it, not even a footstep, and promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him—he having no child.
Il ne lui donna pas d'héritage, pas même de quoi poser le pied dessus. Il promit de le lui donner en propriété, ainsi qu'à sa descendance après lui, alors qu'il n'avait pas encore d'enfant.
6 And God spoke thus, that his seed will be sojourning in a strange land, and they will cause it to serve, and will do it evil [for] four hundred years.
Dieu parla ainsi: ses descendants vivraient comme des étrangers dans un pays étranger, et ils seraient réduits en esclavage et maltraités pendant quatre cents ans.
7 And the nation whom they will serve I will judge, said God; And after these things they will come forth and will do Me service in this place.
Je jugerai la nation à laquelle ils seront asservis, dit Dieu, et après cela, ils sortiront et me serviront dans ce lieu.
8 And He gave to him a covenant of circumcision, and so he begot Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day, and Isaac [begot] Jacob, and Jacob—the twelve patriarchs;
Il lui donna l'alliance de la circoncision. Abraham engendra Isaac et le circoncit le huitième jour. Isaac devint le père de Jacob, et Jacob devint le père des douze patriarches.
9 and the patriarchs, having been moved with jealousy, sold Joseph to Egypt, and God was with him,
« Les patriarches, poussés par la jalousie contre Joseph, le vendirent en Égypte. Dieu fut avec lui
10 and delivered him out of all his tribulations, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he set him—governor over Egypt and all his house.
et le délivra de toutes ses afflictions, il lui donna faveur et sagesse devant Pharaon, roi d'Égypte. Il l'établit gouverneur de l'Égypte et de toute sa maison.
11 And there came a scarcity on all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great tribulation, and our fathers were not finding sustenance,
Or, il survint une famine et une grande détresse dans tout le pays d'Égypte et de Canaan. Nos pères ne trouvèrent pas de nourriture.
12 and Jacob having heard that there was grain in Egypt, sent forth our fathers a first time;
Mais lorsque Jacob apprit qu'il y avait du blé en Égypte, il envoya nos pères une première fois.
13 and at the second time was Joseph made known to his brothers, and Joseph’s family became disclosed to Pharaoh,
La seconde fois, Joseph fut connu de ses frères, et la famille de Joseph fut révélée à Pharaon.
14 and Joseph having sent, called for his father Jacob, and all his relatives—with seventy-five souls—
Joseph envoya et convoqua Jacob, son père, et tous ses parents, soit soixante-quinze âmes.
15 and Jacob went down to Egypt, and died, himself and our fathers,
Jacob descendit en Égypte et mourut, lui et nos pères;
16 and they were carried over into Shechem, and were laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a price in money from the sons of Emmor, of Shechem.
ils furent ramenés à Sichem et déposés dans le tombeau qu'Abraham avait acheté à prix d'argent aux fils d'Hamor, de Sichem.
17 And according as the time of the promise was drawing near, which God swore to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,
Mais, comme le temps de la promesse que Dieu avait faite à Abraham approchait, le peuple s'accrut et se multiplia en Égypte,
18 until another king rose, who had not known Joseph;
jusqu'à ce que survienne un autre roi qui ne connaissait pas Joseph.
19 this one, having dealt subtly with our family, did evil to our fathers, causing to expose their babies, that they might not live;
Celui-ci profita de notre race et maltraita nos pères, et les obligea à abandonner leurs bébés, afin qu'ils ne restent pas en vie.
20 in which time Moses was born, and he was fair to God, and he was brought up [for] three months in the house of his father;
En ce temps-là naquit Moïse, qui était extrêmement beau aux yeux de Dieu. Il fut nourri trois mois dans la maison de son père.
21 and he having been set outside, the daughter of Pharaoh took him up, and reared him to herself for a son;
Lorsqu'il fut abandonné, la fille du Pharaon le recueillit et l'éleva comme son propre fils.
22 and Moses was taught in all wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was powerful in words and in works.
Moïse fut instruit de toute la sagesse des Égyptiens. Il était puissant dans ses paroles et dans ses œuvres.
23 And when forty years were fulfilled to him, it came on his heart to look after his brothers, the sons of Israel;
Mais lorsqu'il eut quarante ans, il lui vint à l'esprit de visiter ses frères, les enfants d'Israël.
24 and having seen a certain one suffering injustice, he defended, and did justice to the oppressed, having struck the Egyptian;
Voyant que l'un d'eux était lésé, il le défendit et vengea celui qui était opprimé, en frappant l'Égyptien.
25 and he was supposing his brothers to understand that God gives salvation through his hand; and they did not understand.
Il supposait que ses frères comprenaient que Dieu, par sa main, leur accordait la délivrance; mais ils ne comprenaient pas.
26 On the succeeding day, also, he showed himself to them as they are striving, and urged them to peace, saying, Men, you are brothers, why do you do injustice to one another?
« Le lendemain, il leur apparut pendant qu'ils se battaient, et les exhorta à retrouver la paix, en disant: 'Messieurs, vous êtes frères.
27 And he who is doing injustice to the neighbor, thrusted him away, saying, Who set you a ruler and a judge over us?
Mais celui qui faisait du tort à son prochain le repoussait en disant: « Qui t'a établi chef et juge sur nous?
28 Do you wish to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?
Veux-tu me tuer comme tu as tué hier l'Égyptien?
29 And Moses fled at this word, and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he begot two sons,
À cette parole, Moïse s'enfuit et devint étranger dans le pays de Madian, où il engendra deux fils.
30 and forty years having been fulfilled, there appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai [the] Messenger of the LORD, in a flame of fire of a bush,
« Lorsque quarante ans se furent écoulés, un ange du Seigneur lui apparut dans le désert du mont Sinaï, dans une flamme de feu, dans un buisson.
31 and Moses having seen, wondered at the sight; and he drawing near to behold, there came a voice of the LORD to him,
Lorsque Moïse le vit, il fut émerveillé par ce spectacle. Comme il s'approchait pour voir, la voix du Seigneur lui parvint:
32 I [am] the God of your fathers; the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses having become terrified, did not dare behold,
« Je suis le Dieu de tes pères, le Dieu d'Abraham, le Dieu d'Isaac et le Dieu de Jacob ». Moïse tremblait et n'osait pas regarder.
33 and the LORD said to him, Loose the sandal of your feet, for the place in which you have stood is holy ground;
L'Éternel lui dit: « Enlève tes sandales, car le lieu où tu te tiens est une terre sainte.
34 seeing I have seen the affliction of My people that [is] in Egypt, and I heard their groaning, and came down to deliver them; and now come, I will send you to Egypt.
J'ai vu l'affliction de mon peuple qui est en Égypte et j'ai entendu ses gémissements. Je suis descendu pour les délivrer. Viens maintenant, je vais t'envoyer en Égypte ».
35 This Moses, whom they refused, saying, Who set you a ruler and a judge? This one God sent [as] a ruler and a redeemer, by the hand of [the] Messenger who appeared to him in the bush;
Ce Moïse qu'ils ont refusé en disant: « Qui t'a établi chef et juge? », Dieu l'a envoyé comme chef et libérateur par la main de l'ange qui lui est apparu dans le buisson.
36 this one brought them forth, having done wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years;
C'est lui qui les a conduits, après avoir accompli des prodiges et des signes en Égypte, à la mer Rouge et dans le désert pendant quarante ans.
37 this is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel: The LORD your God will raise up to you a Prophet out of your brothers, like to me, Him will you hear.
C'est ce Moïse qui a dit aux enfants d'Israël: « Le Seigneur notre Dieu vous suscitera d'entre vos frères un prophète comme moi ».
38 This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness, with the Messenger who is speaking to him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers who received the living oracles to give to us;
C'est lui qui était dans l'assemblée au désert avec l'ange qui lui a parlé sur la montagne du Sinaï, et avec nos pères, qui ont reçu des révélations vivantes pour nous les transmettre,
39 to whom our fathers did not wish to become obedient, but thrusted away, and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,
et à qui nos pères n'ont pas voulu obéir, mais qu'ils ont rejeté et ont retourné en Égypte dans leur cœur,
40 saying to Aaron, Make to us gods who will go on before us, for this Moses, who brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, we have not known what has happened to him.
en disant à Aaron: « Fais-nous des dieux qui nous précèdent, car ce Moïse qui nous a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, nous ne savons pas ce qu'il est devenu.
41 And they made a calf in those days, and brought a sacrifice to the idol, and were rejoicing in the works of their hands,
En ces jours-là, ils firent un veau, offrirent un sacrifice à l'idole et se réjouirent de l'œuvre de leurs mains.
42 and God turned, and gave them up to do service to the host of Heaven, according as it has been written in the scroll of the Prophets: Did you offer slain beasts and sacrifices to Me forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
Mais Dieu se détourna d'eux et les livra au service de l'armée du ciel, comme il est écrit dans le livre des prophètes, « M'avez-vous offert des animaux morts et des sacrifices quarante ans dans le désert, maison d'Israël?
43 And you took up the dwelling place of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan—the figures that you made to worship them, and I will remove your dwelling beyond Babylon.
Tu as dressé le tabernacle de Moloch, l'étoile de ton dieu Rephan, les figures que vous avez faites pour adorer, alors je vous emmènerai au-delà de Babylone.
44 The Dwelling Place of the Testimony was among our fathers in the wilderness, according as He directed, who is speaking to Moses, to make it according to the figure that he had seen;
Nos pères ont eu le tabernacle du témoignage dans le désert, comme celui qui a parlé à Moïse lui a ordonné de le construire d'après le modèle qu'il avait vu.
45 which also our fathers having in succession received, brought in with Joshua, into the possession of the nations whom God drove out from the presence of our fathers, until the days of David,
Nos pères, à leur tour, l'ont apporté avec Josué, lorsqu'ils sont entrés en possession des nations que Dieu a chassées devant la face de nos pères jusqu'aux jours de David,
46 who found favor before God, and requested to find a dwelling place for the God of Jacob;
qui ont trouvé grâce aux yeux de Dieu et ont demandé à trouver une demeure pour le Dieu de Jacob.
47 and Solomon built Him a house.
Mais Salomon lui construisit une maison.
48 But the Most High does not dwell in sanctuaries made with hands, according as the prophet says:
Mais le Très-Haut n'habite pas dans des temples faits de main d'homme, comme le dit le prophète,
49 Heaven [is] My throne, And the earth My footstool, What house will you build to Me? Says the LORD; Or what [is] the place of My rest?
« Le ciel est mon trône, et la terre un marchepied pour mes pieds. Quel genre de maison vas-tu me construire? » dit le Seigneur. Ou quel est le lieu de mon repos?
50 Has My hand not made all these things?
Est-ce que ma main n'a pas fait toutes ces choses?
51 You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and in ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers—also you;
« Hommes au cou raide, incirconcis de cœur et d'oreilles, vous résistez toujours au Saint-Esprit! Vous faites ce que vos pères ont fait.
52 which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who declared before about the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers,
Lequel des prophètes vos pères n'ont-ils pas persécuté? Ils ont tué ceux qui annonçaient la venue du Juste, dont vous êtes maintenant devenus les traîtres et les meurtriers.
53 who received the Law by arrangement of messengers, and did not keep [it].”
Vous avez reçu la loi telle qu'elle a été ordonnée par les anges, et vous ne l'avez pas observée! ».
54 And hearing these things, they were cut to the hearts, and gnashed the teeth at him;
Or, quand ils entendirent ces choses, ils eurent le cœur brisé, et ils grincèrent des dents contre lui.
55 and being full of the Holy Spirit, having looked steadfastly to the sky, he saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
Mais lui, rempli de l'Esprit Saint, regardait fixement vers le ciel et voyait la gloire de Dieu et Jésus debout à la droite de Dieu,
56 and he said, “Behold, I see the heavens having been opened, and the Son of Man standing on the right hand of God.”
et il disait: « Voici, je vois les cieux ouverts et le Fils de l'homme debout à la droite de Dieu. »
57 And they, having cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and rushed with one accord on him,
Mais ils crièrent d'une voix forte et se bouchèrent les oreilles, puis se précipitèrent sur lui d'un commun accord.
58 and having cast him forth outside of the city, they were stoning [him]—and the witnesses put down their garments at the feet of a young man called Saul—
Ils le jetèrent hors de la ville et le lapidèrent. Les témoins déposèrent leurs vêtements aux pieds d'un jeune homme nommé Saul.
59 and they were stoning Stephen, [as he was] calling and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit”;
Ils lapidèrent Étienne, qui criait: « Seigneur Jésus, reçois mon esprit. »
60 and having bowed the knees, he cried with a loud voice, “LORD, may You not lay to them this sin”; and having said this, he fell asleep.
Il se mit à genoux et s'écria d'une voix forte: « Seigneur, ne retiens pas ce péché contre eux! ». Après avoir dit cela, il s'endormit.
