Acts 5
1 And a certain man, Ananias by name, with his wife Sapphira, sold a possession,
Men en ung man vid namn Ananias och hans hustru Safira sålde ett jordagods,
2 and kept back of the price—his wife also knowing—and having brought a certain part, he laid [it] at the feet of the apostles.
och han tog därvid, med sin hustrus vetskap, undan något av betalningen därför; allenast en del bar han fram och lade för apostlarnas fötter.
3 And Peter said, “Ananias, why did Satan fill your heart, for you to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back of the price of the place?
Då sade Petrus: »Ananias, varför har Satan fått uppfylla ditt hjärta, så att du har velat bedraga den helige Ande och taga undan något av betalningen för jordstycket?
4 While it remained, did it not remain yours? And having been sold, was it not in your authority? Why [is] it that you put this thing in your heart? You did not lie to men, but to God”;
Detta var ju din egendom, medan du hade det kvar; och när det var sålt, voro ju penningarna i din makt. Huru kunde du få något sådant i sinnet? Du har ljugit, icke för människor, utan för Gud.»
5 and Ananias hearing these words, having fallen down, expired, and great fear came on all who heard these things,
När Ananias hörde dessa ord, föll han ned och gav upp andan. Och stor fruktan kom över alla som hörde detta.
6 and having risen, the younger men wound him up, and having carried forth, they buried [him].
Och de yngre männen stodo upp och höljde in honom och buro ut honom och begrovo honom.
7 And it came to pass, about three hours after, that his wife, not knowing what has happened, came in,
Vid pass tre timmar därefter kom hans hustru in, utan att veta om, vad som hade skett.
8 and Peter answered her, “Tell me if for so much you sold the place”; and she said, “Yes, for so much.”
Petrus sade då till henne: »Säg mig, var det för den summan I sålden jordstycket?» Hon svarade: »Ja, för den summan.»
9 And Peter said to her, “How was it agreed by you to tempt the Spirit of the LORD? Behold, the feet of those who buried your husband [are] at the door, and they will carry you forth”;
Då sade Petrus till henne: »Huru kunden I vilja komma överens om att fresta Herrens Ande? Se, härutanför dörren höras nu fotstegen av de män som hava begravt din man; och de skola bära ut också dig.»
10 and immediately she fell down at his feet, and expired, and the young men having come in, found her dead, and having carried forth, they buried [her] by her husband;
Och strax föll hon ned vid hans fötter och gav upp andan; och när de unge männen kommo in, funno de henne död. De buro då ut henne och begrovo henne bredvid hennes man.
11 and great fear came on all the Assembly, and on all who heard these things.
Och stor fruktan kom över hela församlingen och över alla andra som hörde detta.
12 And through the hands of the apostles came many signs and wonders among the people, and they were all with one accord in the porch of Solomon;
Och genom apostlarna gjordes många tecken och under bland folket; och de höllo sig alla endräktigt tillsammans i Salomos pelargång.
13 and of the rest no one was daring to join himself to them, but the people were magnifying them,
Av de andra dristade sig ingen att närma sig dem, men folket höll dem i ära.
14 (and the more were believers added to the LORD, multitudes of both men and women),
Och ännu flera trodde och slöto sig till Herren, hela skaror av både män och kvinnor.
15 so as to bring forth the ailing into the broad places, and to lay [them] on beds and pallets, that at the coming of Peter, even [his] shadow might overshadow someone of them;
Ja, man bar de sjuka ut på gatorna och lade dem på bårar och i sängar, för att, när Petrus kom gående, åtminstone hans skugga måtte falla på någon av dem.
16 and there were also coming together the people of the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, carrying ailing persons, and those harassed by unclean spirits—who were all healed.
Och jämväl från städerna runt omkring Jerusalem kom folket i skaror och förde med sig sjuka och sådana som voro plågade av orena andar; och alla blevo botade.
17 And having risen, the chief priest, and all those with him—being the sect of the Sadducees—were filled with zeal,
Då stod översteprästen upp och alla som höllo med honom -- de som hörde till sadducéernas parti -- och de uppfylldes av nitälskan
18 and laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in a public prison;
och läto gripa apostlarna och sätta dem i allmänt häkte.
19 but through the night a messenger of the LORD opened the doors of the prison, having also brought them forth, he said,
Men en Herrens ängel öppnade om natten fängelsets portar och förde ut dem och sade:
20 “Go on, and standing, speak in the temple to the people all the sayings of this life”;
»Gån åstad och träden upp i helgedomen, och talen till folket alla det sanna livets ord.»
21 and having heard, they entered into the temple at the dawn, and were teaching. And the chief priest having come, and those with him, they called together the Sanhedrin and all the Senate of the sons of Israel, and they sent to the prison to have them brought,
När de hade hört detta, gingo de inemot dagbräckningen in i helgedomen och undervisade. Emellertid kommo översteprästen och de som höllo med honom och sammankallade Stora rådet, alla Israels barns äldste. Därefter sände de åstad till fängelset för att hämta dem.
22 and the officers having come, did not find them in the prison, and having turned back, they told,
Men när rättstjänarna kommo dit, funno de dem icke i fängelset. De vände då tillbaka och omtalade detta
23 saying, “We indeed found the prison shut in all safety, and the keepers standing outside before the doors, and having opened—we found no one within.”
och sade: »Fängelset funno vi stängt med all omsorg och väktarna stående utanför portarna, men då vi öppnade, funno vi ingen därinne.»
24 And as the priest, and the magistrate of the temple, and the chief priests, heard these words, they were doubting concerning them to what this would come;
När tempelvaktens befälhavare och översteprästerna hörde detta, visst de icke vad de skulle tänka därom, eller vad som skulle bliva av detta.
25 and coming near, a certain one told them, saying, “Behold, the men whom you put in the prison are in the temple standing and teaching the people”;
Då kom någon och berättade för den: »De män som I haven insatt i fängelset, de stå nu i helgedomen och undervisa folket.»
26 then the magistrate having gone away with officers, brought them without violence, for they were fearing the people, lest they should be stoned;
Befälhavaren gick då med rättstjänarna åstad och hämtade dem; dock brukade de icke våld, ty de fruktade att bliva stenade av folket.
27 and having brought them, they set [them] in the Sanhedrin, and the chief priest questioned them,
Och sedan de hade hämtat dem, förde de dem fram inför Stora rådet. Och översteprästen anställde förhör med dem
28 saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this Name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring on us the blood of this Man.”
och sade: »Vi hava ju allvarligen förbjudit eder att undervisa i det namnet, och likväl haven I uppfyllt Jerusalem med eder undervisning, och I viljen nu låta den mannens blod komma över oss.»
29 And Peter and the apostles answering, said, “It is required to obey God, rather than men;
Men Petrus och de andra apostlarna svarade och sade: »Man måste lyda Gud mer än människor.
30 and the God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew, having hanged on a tree;
Våra fäders Gud har uppväckt Jesus, som I haden upphängt på trä och dödat.
31 this One, God, a Prince and a Savior, has exalted with His right hand, to give conversion to Israel, and forgiveness of sins;
Och Gud har med sin högra hand upphöjt honom till en hövding och frälsare, för att åt Israel förläna bättring och syndernas förlåtelse.
32 and we are His witnesses of these sayings, and the Holy Spirit also, whom God gave to those obeying Him.”
Om allt detta kunna vi själva vittna, så ock den helige Ande, vilken Gud har givit åt dem som äro honom lydiga.»
33 And they having heard, were cut [to the heart], and were intending to slay them,
När de hörde detta, blevo de mycket förbittrade och ville döda dem.
34 but a certain one, having risen up in the Sanhedrin—a Pharisee, by name Gamaliel, a teacher of law honored by all the people—commanded to put the apostles forth a little,
Men en farisé, en laglärare vid namn Gamaliel, som var aktad av allt folket, stod då upp i Rådet och tillsade att man för en kort stund skulle föra ut männen.
35 and said to them, “Men, Israelites, take heed to yourselves about these men, what you are about to do,
Sedan sade han till de andra: »I män av Israel, sen eder för vad I tänken göra med dessa män.
36 for before these days Theudas rose up, saying that he was someone, to whom a number of men joined themselves, as it were four hundred, who was slain, and all, as many as were obeying him, were scattered, and came to nothing.
För en tid sedan uppträdde ju Teudas och gav sig ut för att något vara, och till honom slöt sig en hop av vid pass fyra hundra män. Och han blev dödad, och alla som hade trott på honom förskingrades och blevo till intet.
37 After this one, Judas the Galilean rose up, in the days of the census, and drew away people after him, and that one perished, and all, as many as were obeying him, were scattered;
Efter honom uppträdde Judas från Galileen, vid den tid då skattskrivningen pågick; denne förledde en hop folk till avfall, så att de följde honom. Också han förgicks, och alla som hade trott på honom blevo förskingrade.
38 and now I say to you, refrain from these men, and leave them alone, because if this counsel or this work may be of men, it will be overthrown,
Och nu säger jag eder: Befatten eder icke med dessa män, utan låten dem vara; ty skulle detta vara ett rådslag eller ett verk av människor, så kommer det att slås ned;
39 and if it be of God, you are not able to overthrow it, lest perhaps you are also found fighting against God.”
men är det av Gud, så kunnen I icke slå ned dessa män. Sen till, att I icke mån befinnas strida mot Gud själv.»
40 And to him they agreed, and having called near the apostles, having beaten [them], they commanded [them] not to speak in the Name of Jesus, and let them go;
Och de lydde hans råd; de kallade in apostlarna, och sedan de hade låtit gissla dem, förbjödo de dem att tala i Jesu namn och läto dem därefter gå.
41 they, indeed, then, departed from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that for His Name they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor,
Och de gingo ut från rådsförsamlingen, glada över att de hade aktats värdiga att lida smälek för det namnets skull.
42 also every day in the temple, and in every house, they were not ceasing teaching and proclaiming good news—Jesus the Christ.
Och de upphörde icke att var dag undervisa i helgedomen och hemma i husen och förkunna evangelium om Kristus Jesus.
