Acts 5
1 And a certain man, Ananias by name, with his wife Sapphira, sold a possession,
૧પણ અનાન્યા નામે એક માણસે તથા તેની પત્ની સાફીરાએ પોતાની મિલકત વેચી.
2 and kept back of the price—his wife also knowing—and having brought a certain part, he laid [it] at the feet of the apostles.
૨સાફીરાની સંમતિથી અનાન્યાએ તેના મૂલ્યમાંથી થોડું પોતાની પાસે પણ રાખ્યું; અને કેટલોક ભાગ લાવીને પ્રેરિતોના પગ આગળ મૂક્યો.
3 And Peter said, “Ananias, why did Satan fill your heart, for you to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back of the price of the place?
૩પણ પિતરે કહ્યું કે, ‘ઓ અનાન્યા, પવિત્ર આત્માને જૂઠું કહેવાનું, તથા જમીનનાં મૂલ્યમાંથી થોડું પોતાની પાસે રાખવાનું શેતાને તારા મનમાં કેમ ભર્યું છે?
4 While it remained, did it not remain yours? And having been sold, was it not in your authority? Why [is] it that you put this thing in your heart? You did not lie to men, but to God”;
૪તે જમીન તારી પાસે હતી ત્યારે શું તારી નહોતી? અને તેને વેચ્યા પછી શું તેનું મૂલ્ય તારે સ્વાધીન નહોતું? તેં પોતાના મનમાં આવો વિચાર કેમ આવવા દીધો? તેં માણસોને નહિ પણ ઈશ્વરને જૂઠું કહ્યું છે.’
5 and Ananias hearing these words, having fallen down, expired, and great fear came on all who heard these things,
૫એ વાતો સાંભળતાં જ અનાન્યાએ પડીને પોતાનો પ્રાણ છોડ્યો, અને જેઓએ એ વાત સાંભળી તે સર્વને ઘણી બીક લાગી.
6 and having risen, the younger men wound him up, and having carried forth, they buried [him].
૬પછી જુવાનોએ ઊઠીને તેને વસ્ત્રમાં વીંટાળ્યો, અને બહાર લઈ જઈને દફનાવ્યો.
7 And it came to pass, about three hours after, that his wife, not knowing what has happened, came in,
૭ત્રણેક કલાક પછી તેની પત્ની અંદર આવી, જે થયું હતું તેની તેને ખબર નહોતી.
8 and Peter answered her, “Tell me if for so much you sold the place”; and she said, “Yes, for so much.”
૮ત્યારે પિતરે સાફીરાને પૂછ્યું કે, મને કહે, તમે શું આટલી જ કિંમતે તે જમીન વેચી? તેણે તેને કહ્યું કે, હા, એટલી જ કિંમતે.
9 And Peter said to her, “How was it agreed by you to tempt the Spirit of the LORD? Behold, the feet of those who buried your husband [are] at the door, and they will carry you forth”;
૯ત્યારે પિતરે તેને કહ્યું કે, પ્રભુના આત્માનું પરીક્ષણ કરવાને તમે બન્નેએ કેમ સંપ કર્યો છે? જો, તારા પતિને દફનાવનારાંઓ હવે બારણા પાસે આવી પહોંચ્યા છે, અને તેઓ તને પણ લઈ જશે.
10 and immediately she fell down at his feet, and expired, and the young men having come in, found her dead, and having carried forth, they buried [her] by her husband;
૧૦તત્કાળ સાફીરાએ તેમના પગ પાસે પડીને પોતાનો પ્રાણ છોડ્યો; પછી તે જુવાનોએ આવીને તેને મરણ પામેલી જોઈ, અને બહાર લઈ જઈને તેને તેના પતિની કબર પાસે દફનાવી.
11 and great fear came on all the Assembly, and on all who heard these things.
૧૧આથી આખા વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયને તથા જે લોકોએ એ વાતો સાંભળી તે સર્વને ઘણો ડર લાગ્યો.
12 And through the hands of the apostles came many signs and wonders among the people, and they were all with one accord in the porch of Solomon;
૧૨પ્રેરિતોની હસ્તક લોકોમાં ઘણાં ચમત્કારિક ચિહ્નો તથા આશ્ચર્યકર્મો થયાં. તેઓ સર્વ એક ચિત્તે સુલેમાનની પરસાળમાં નિયમિત મળતા હતા;
13 and of the rest no one was daring to join himself to them, but the people were magnifying them,
૧૩પણ બીજાઓમાંથી કોઈને તેઓની સાથે મળી જવાની હિંમત થતી ન હતી; તોપણ લોકો તેઓને માન આપતા.
14 (and the more were believers added to the LORD, multitudes of both men and women),
૧૪અને પ્રભુ પર વિશ્વાસ કરનારાં, સંખ્યાબંધ પુરુષો તથા સ્ત્રીઓ, વધારે પ્રમાણમાં ઉમેરાતાં ગયા;
15 so as to bring forth the ailing into the broad places, and to lay [them] on beds and pallets, that at the coming of Peter, even [his] shadow might overshadow someone of them;
૧૫એટલે સુધી કે તેઓએ માંદાઓને લાવીને પથારીઓ તથા ખાટલાઓ પર સુવાડ્યાં, જેથી પિતર પાસે થઈને જાય તો તેનો પડછાયો પણ તેઓમાંના કોઈનાં ઉપર પડે.
16 and there were also coming together the people of the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, carrying ailing persons, and those harassed by unclean spirits—who were all healed.
૧૬વળી યરુશાલેમની આસપાસનાં શહેરોમાંના ઘણાં લોક બીમારોને તથા અશુદ્ધ આત્માઓથી પીડાતાંઓને લઈને ત્યાં આવતા હતા, અને તેઓ બધાને સાજાં કરવામાં આવતાં હતાં.
17 And having risen, the chief priest, and all those with him—being the sect of the Sadducees—were filled with zeal,
૧૭પણ પ્રમુખ યાજક તથા તેના સઘળા સાથીઓ જેઓ સદૂકી પંથના હતા, તેઓને ખૂબ ઈર્ષા આવી,
18 and laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in a public prison;
૧૮અને પ્રેરિતોને પકડીને તેઓએ તેમને જેલમાં પૂર્યા.
19 but through the night a messenger of the LORD opened the doors of the prison, having also brought them forth, he said,
૧૯પણ રાત્રે પ્રભુના સ્વર્ગદૂતે જેલના બારણાં ઉઘાડ્યાં, અને તેઓને બહાર લાવીને કહ્યું કે,
20 “Go on, and standing, speak in the temple to the people all the sayings of this life”;
૨૦તમે જાઓ, અને ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં ઊભા રહીને એ જીવન વિષેની બધી વાતો લોકોને સંભળાવો.
21 and having heard, they entered into the temple at the dawn, and were teaching. And the chief priest having come, and those with him, they called together the Sanhedrin and all the Senate of the sons of Israel, and they sent to the prison to have them brought,
૨૧એ સાંભળીને પિતર તથા યોહાને વહેલી સવારે ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં જઈને પ્રવચન કર્યું. પણ પ્રમુખ યાજક તથા તેના સાથીઓએ આવીને સભા બોલાવી ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં ઇઝરાયલી લોકોના વડીલોને એકઠા કર્યા અને પિતર તથા યોહાનને લાવવાને માટે જેલમાં માણસ મોકલ્યા.
22 and the officers having come, did not find them in the prison, and having turned back, they told,
૨૨પણ સિપાઈઓ ત્યાં ગયા ત્યારે તેઓ તેમને જેલમાં મળ્યા નહિ; તેઓએ પાછા આવીને ખબર આપી કે,
23 saying, “We indeed found the prison shut in all safety, and the keepers standing outside before the doors, and having opened—we found no one within.”
૨૩અમે જેલના દરવાજાને સારી રીતે બંધ કરેલ તથા ચોકીદારોને દરવાજા આગળ ઊભા રહેલા જોયા; પણ અમે દરવાજો ઉઘાડ્યો ત્યારે અમને અંદર કોઈ માલૂમ પડ્યા નહિ.
24 And as the priest, and the magistrate of the temple, and the chief priests, heard these words, they were doubting concerning them to what this would come;
૨૪હવે જ્યારે ભક્તિસ્થાનના સરદારે તથા મુખ્ય યાજકોએ આ વાતો સાંભળી ત્યારે એ સંબંધી તેઓ બહુ ગૂંચવણ પામ્યા કે, આનું શું પરિણામ આવશે?
25 and coming near, a certain one told them, saying, “Behold, the men whom you put in the prison are in the temple standing and teaching the people”;
૨૫એટલામાં એક વ્યક્તિએ આવી તેઓને ખબર આપી કે, જુઓ, જે માણસોને તમે જેલમાં પૂર્યા હતા, તેઓ તો ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં ઊભા રહીને લોકોને ઉપદેશ આપે છે.
26 then the magistrate having gone away with officers, brought them without violence, for they were fearing the people, lest they should be stoned;
૨૬ત્યારે સરદાર સિપાઈઓને સાથે લઈને જબરદસ્તી કર્યા વિના તેઓને લઈ આવ્યો; કેમ કે તેઓ લોકોથી બીતા હતા કે, કદાચ તેઓ અમને પથ્થરે મારે.
27 and having brought them, they set [them] in the Sanhedrin, and the chief priest questioned them,
૨૭તેઓએ તેઓને લાવીને સભા આગળ હાજર કર્યા, અને પ્રમુખ યાજકે તેઓને પૂછ્યું કે,
28 saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this Name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring on us the blood of this Man.”
૨૮“અમે તમને સખત મના કરી હતી કે તમારે બોધ કરતાં એ નામ લેવું નહિ; પણ જુઓ, તમે તો તમારા પ્રવચનથી યરુશાલેમને ગજવી મૂક્યું છે, એ માણસનું રક્ત પાડવાનો દોષ તમે અમારા પર મૂકવા માગો છો.”
29 And Peter and the apostles answering, said, “It is required to obey God, rather than men;
૨૯પણ પિતર તથા પ્રેરિતોએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, માણસોના કરતાં અમારે ઈશ્વરનું વધારે માનવું જોઈએ.
30 and the God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew, having hanged on a tree;
૩૦જે ઈસુને તમે વધસ્તંભ પર જડીને મારી નાખ્યા, તેમને આપણા પૂર્વજોના ઈશ્વરે ઉઠાડ્યાં છે.
31 this One, God, a Prince and a Savior, has exalted with His right hand, to give conversion to Israel, and forgiveness of sins;
૩૧તેમને ઈશ્વરે પોતાને જમણે હાથે રાજા તથા ઉદ્ધારક થવાને ઊંચા કર્યા છે, કે તેઓ ઇઝરાયલને પશ્ચાતાપ કરાવે તથા તેઓને પાપની માફી આપે.
32 and we are His witnesses of these sayings, and the Holy Spirit also, whom God gave to those obeying Him.”
૩૨અમે એ વાતોના સાક્ષી છીએ, અને ઈશ્વરે પોતાની આજ્ઞા માનનારાઓને જે પવિત્ર આત્મા આપ્યા છે તેઓ પણ સાક્ષી છે.
33 And they having heard, were cut [to the heart], and were intending to slay them,
૩૩આ સાંભળીને તેઓનાં મન વીંધાઈ ગયા, અને તેઓએ તેમને મારી નાખવાનો નિર્ણય કર્યો.
34 but a certain one, having risen up in the Sanhedrin—a Pharisee, by name Gamaliel, a teacher of law honored by all the people—commanded to put the apostles forth a little,
૩૪પણ ગમાલીએલ નામે એક ફરોશી ન્યાયશાસ્ત્રી, જેને સર્વ લોકો માન આપતા હતા, તેણે સભામાં ઊભા થઈને હુકમ કર્યો કે આ વ્યક્તિઓને થોડીવાર સુધી બહાર લઈ જાઓ.
35 and said to them, “Men, Israelites, take heed to yourselves about these men, what you are about to do,
૩૫પછી તેણે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ઓ ઇઝરાયલી માણસો, આ લોકોને તમે જે કરવા ઇચ્છો છો તે વિષે સાવચેત રહો.
36 for before these days Theudas rose up, saying that he was someone, to whom a number of men joined themselves, as it were four hundred, who was slain, and all, as many as were obeying him, were scattered, and came to nothing.
૩૬કેમ કે કેટલાક સમય પહેલાં થ્યુદાએ બળવો કરીને કહ્યું કે, હું એક મહાન વ્યક્તિ છું; તેની સાથે આશરે ચારસો માણસ સામેલ થયા હતા, તે માર્યા ગયા, અને જેટલાંએ તેનું માન્યું તેઓ સર્વ નાશ પામ્યા.
37 After this one, Judas the Galilean rose up, in the days of the census, and drew away people after him, and that one perished, and all, as many as were obeying him, were scattered;
૩૭એના પછી વસ્તી ગણતરીના સમયે ગાલીલના યહૂદાએ બળવો કરીને ઘણાં લોકોને પોતાની પાછળ ખેંચ્યા; તે પણ નાશ પામ્યો, અને જેટલાં લોકોએ તેનું માન્યું તેઓ સર્વ વિખેરાઈ ગયા.
38 and now I say to you, refrain from these men, and leave them alone, because if this counsel or this work may be of men, it will be overthrown,
૩૮હવે હું તમને કહું છું કે, આ માણસોથી તમે દૂર રહો, અને તેઓને રહેવા દો; કેમ કે જો એ મત અથવા એ કામ માણસોથી હશે તો તે ઊથલી પડશે;
39 and if it be of God, you are not able to overthrow it, lest perhaps you are also found fighting against God.”
૩૯પણ જો ઈશ્વરથી હશે તો તમારાથી તે ઊથલાવી નંખાશે નહિ; નહિ તો કદાચ તમે ઈશ્વરની સામે પણ લડનારા જણાશો.
40 And to him they agreed, and having called near the apostles, having beaten [them], they commanded [them] not to speak in the Name of Jesus, and let them go;
૪૦તેઓએ તેમનું માન્યું; પછી તેઓએ પ્રેરિતોને પોતાની પાસે પાછા બોલાવીને માર માર્યો; અને વાત કરતાં ઈસુનું નામ લેવું નહિ, એવી આજ્ઞા કરીને તેઓએ તેમને છોડી દીધાં.
41 they, indeed, then, departed from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing that for His Name they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor,
૪૧તેઓ તે નામને લીધે અપમાન પામવા યોગ્ય ગણાયા, તેથી તેઓ આનંદ કરતા સભામાંથી ચાલ્યા ગયા.
42 also every day in the temple, and in every house, they were not ceasing teaching and proclaiming good news—Jesus the Christ.
૪૨પણ તેઓએ નિત્ય ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં તથા ઘરે ઈસુ તે જ ખ્રિસ્ત છે તે વિષે શીખવવાનું તથા પ્રગટ કરવાનું ચાલુ રાખ્યું.
