Acts 4
1 And as they are speaking to the people, there came to them the priests, and the magistrate of the temple, and the Sadducees—
Während sie noch zu dem Volk redeten, traten die Priester und der Tempelhauptmann an sie heran, dazu die Sadduzäer;
2 being grieved because of their teaching the people, and preaching in Jesus the resurrection out of the dead—
denn diese waren darüber entrüstet, daß sie das Volk belehrten und bei ihrer Predigt von Jesus die Auferstehung aus den Toten verkündigten.
3 and they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was evening already;
Sie ließen deshalb die beiden Apostel verhaften und bis zum nächsten Tag gefangensetzen; denn es war mittlerweile Abend geworden.
4 and many of those hearing the word believed, and the number of the men became, as it were, five thousand.
Viele aber von denen, die die Predigt des Petrus gehört hatten, wurden gläubig, und die Zahl der erwachsenen Männer stieg nun auf fünftausend.
5 And it came to pass the next day, there were gathered together of them the rulers, and elders, and scribes, to Jerusalem,
Tags darauf fand eine Sitzung des Hohen Rates in Jerusalem statt. Daran nahmen teil die Oberen, die Ältesten und die Schriftgelehrten,
6 and Annas the chief priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the chief priest,
der Hohepriester Hannas, Kaiphas, Johannes, Alexander und alle, die aus hohenpriesterlichem Geschlecht waren.
7 and having set them in the midst, they were inquiring, “In what power, or in what name did you do this?”
Petrus und Johannes wurden vorgeführt, und man fragte sie: "Durch welche Kraft oder in wessen Namen habt ihr diese Tat vollbracht?"
8 Then Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
Da antwortete Petrus, erfüllt mit dem Heiligen Geist: "Ihr Oberen des Volkes und ihr Ältesten Israels!
9 if we are examined today concerning the good deed to the ailing man, by whom he has been saved,
Wenn wir heute vor Gericht gestellt werden, weil wir einem Kranken geholfen haben, und wenn man uns nun fragt, wie der Mann hier gesund geworden ist,
10 be it known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised out of the dead, in Him has this one stood by before you whole.
so sollt ihr alle und das ganze Volk Israel wissen: Durch den Namen Jesu Christi von Nazaret, den ihr gekreuzigt habt, und den Gott von den Toten auferweckt hat, — dadurch steht dieser Mann gesund vor euren Augen da!
11 This is the stone that was set at nothing by you—the builders, that became head of a corner;
Dieser Jesus ist der Stein, den ihr Bauleute verworfen habt, und der nun zum Eckstein geworden ist.
12 and there is not salvation in any other, for there is no other name under Heaven that has been given among men, in which it is required of us to be saved.”
In keinem anderen ist das Heil zu finden; denn wahrlich, keinen zweiten Namen gibt's unter dem Himmel für die Menschen, wodurch wir das Heil erlangen sollen."
13 And beholding the openness of Peter and John, and having perceived that they are illiterate men and commoners, they were wondering—they were also taking knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus—
Als sie wahrnahmen, wie unerschrocken Petrus und Johannes redeten, und außerdem entdeckten, daß sie Männer ohne schriftgelehrte Bildung und aus geringem Stand waren, da wunderten sie sich. Nun erkannten sie die beiden auch als Jünger Jesu wieder.
14 and seeing the man standing with them who has been healed, they had nothing to say against [it],
Zugleich sahen sie den Geheilten bei ihnen stehen. So wußten sie nichts zu erwidern.
15 and having commanded them to go away out of the Sanhedrin, they took counsel with one another,
Sie ließen daher die beiden aus dem Sitzungssaal führen und berieten miteinander.
16 saying, “What will we do to these men? Because that, indeed, a notable sign has been done through them [is] apparent to all those dwelling in Jerusalem, and we are not able to deny [it];
"Was sollen wir mit diesen Menschen machen?" so fragten sie. "Denn daß sie ein auffälliges Wunderzeichen vollbracht haben, ist offenkundig für alle Bewohner Jerusalems, und wir können es nicht leugnen.
17 but that it may spread no further toward the people, let us strictly threaten them to no longer speak in this Name to any man.”
Damit nun aber die Sache nicht noch mehr unter das Volk komme, so wollen wir ihnen streng verbieten, in Zukunft über diesen Namen irgendwie zu reden."
18 And having called them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor to teach, in the Name of Jesus,
Darauf ließen sie die Apostel wieder hereinrufen und geboten ihnen, durchaus nicht mehr in Jesu Namen zu reden und zu lehren.
19 and Peter and John answering to them said, “Whether it is righteous before God to listen to you rather than to God, judge;
Doch Petrus und Johannes antworteten ihnen: "Ob es recht ist vor Gott, daß wir euch mehr gehorchen als Gott, das sagt euch selbst!
20 for we cannot but speak what we saw and heard.”
Wir können ja unmöglich schweigen über das, was wir gesehen und gehört haben."
21 And they having further threatened [them], let them go, finding no way how they may punish them, because of the people, because all were glorifying God for that which has been done,
Trotzdem entließ sie der Hohe Rat: er wiederholte nur sein Verbot und verschärfte es durch Drohungen. Denn er fand keine Möglichkeit, sie zu bestrafen. Davor scheute er sich mit Rücksicht auf das Volk. Denn alle priesen Gott des Wunders wegen,
22 for above forty years of age was the man on whom had been done this sign of the healing.
zumal der Mensch, an dem dies Heilungswunder geschehen war, schon über vierzig Jahre zählte.
23 And being let go, they went to their own friends, and declared whatever the chief priests and the elders said to them,
Nach ihrer Freilassung gingen Petrus und Johannes zu den anderen Aposteln und teilten ihnen mit, was ihnen die Hohenpriester und die Ältesten gesagt hatten.
24 and they having heard, lifted up the voice to God with one accord and said, “LORD, You [are] God, who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all that [are] in them,
Als sie das hörten, erhoben sie einmütig ihre Stimme zu Gott und sprachen: "Herr, du hast den Himmel, die Erde und das Meer mit allem, was darinnen ist, geschaffen;
25 who, through the mouth of Your servant David, said, Why did nations rage, and peoples meditate vain things?
du hast durch den Heiligen Geist durch den Mund unseres Vaters David, deines Knechtes, gesprochen: Warum haben die Heiden vor Zorn geschnaubt und die Völker nichtige Pläne ersonnen?
26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the LORD and against His Christ;
Die Könige der Erde sind herangezogen, und die Herrscher haben sich zusammengerottet gegen den Herrn und gegen den Gesalbten.
27 for gathered together of a truth against Your holy child Jesus, whom You anointed, were both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with nations and peoples of Israel,
Ja wahrlich, zusammengerottet haben sich in dieser Stadt Herodes und Pontius Pilatus im Bunde mit den Heiden und den Stämmen Israels gegen deinen heiligen Knecht Jesus, den du gesalbt,
28 to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel determined before to come to pass.
damit sie ausführten, was dein mächtiger Wille schon vorher bestimmt hatte.
29 And now, LORD, look on their threatenings, and grant to Your servants to speak Your word with all freedom,
Nun, Herr, mache ihr Drohen zuschanden und hilf deinen Knechten, dein Wort mit allem Freimut zu verkündigen!
30 in the stretching forth of Your hand, for healing, and signs, and wonders, to come to pass through the Name of Your holy child Jesus.”
Laß dabei deine Macht wirksam sein, daß Heilungen, Zeichen und Wunder geschehen durch den Namen deines heiligen Knechtes Jesus!"
31 And they having prayed, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and were speaking the word of God with freedom,
Nach diesem Gebet erzitterte die Stätte, wo sie versammelt waren, und sie wurden alle mit dem Heiligen Geist erfüllt und verkündigten mit freudigem Vertrauen Gottes Wort.
32 and of the multitude of those who believed, the heart and the soul were one, and not one was saying that anything of the things he had was his own, but all things were in common to them.
Die ganze Schar der Gläubigen aber war ein Herz und eine Seele. Niemand nahm von seiner Habe etwas als sein ausschließliches Eigentum in Anspruch; sondern alles, was sie hatten, war Allgemeinbesitz.
33 And with great power the apostles were giving the testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, great grace was also on them all,
Und mit großer Kraft legten die Apostel Zeugnis ab von der Auferstehung des Herrn Jesus. Auch bei dem Volk stand die ganze Gemeinde in hoher Gunst.
34 for there was not anyone among them who lacked, for as many as were possessors of fields, or houses, selling [them], were bringing the prices of the thing sold,
Denn keines ihrer Glieder brauchte Not zu leiden. Alle nämlich, die Grundstücke und Häuser hatten, pflegten diese zu verkaufen. Dann brachten sie den Erlös aus dem Verkauf
35 and were laying them at the feet of the apostles, and distribution was being made to each according as anyone had need.
und legten ihn zu den Füßen der Apostel nieder. Aus diesen Mitteln erhielt jeder, was er nötig hatte.
36 And Joses, who was surnamed by the apostles Barnabas—which is, having been interpreted, Son of Comfort—a Levite, of Cyprus by birth,
Josef zum Beispiel, den die Apostel Barnabas nannten — das heißt: Tröster und Ermahner —, ein Levit, der aus Zypern stammte,
37 a field being his, having sold [it], brought the money and laid [it] at the feet of the apostles.
verkaufte ein Stück Land, das er besaß, brachte das Geld und legte es zu der Apostel Füßen nieder.
