Acts 24
1 And after five days the chief priest Ananias came down, with the elders, and a certain orator—Tertullus, and they disclosed to the governor [the things] against Paul;
Fünf Tage darauf gieng der Hohepriester Ananias hinab mit einigen Aeltesten und einem Sprecher Tertyllus, und sie machten dem Statthalter ihre Angaben gegen Paulus.
2 and he having been called, Tertullus began to accuse [him], saying, “Enjoying much peace through you, and worthy deeds being done to this nation through your forethought,
Nachdem er aber herbeigeholt war, begann Tertyllus die Anklage gegen ihn vorzutragen: Tiefen Frieden genießen wir durch dich, und durch deine Umsicht sind diesem Volke Verbesserungen zu teil geworden;
3 always, also, and everywhere we receive it, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness;
das nehmen wir allerseits und überall mit großer Dankbarkeit hin, hochgeehrter Felix.
4 and that I may not be further tedious to you, I exhort you to hear us concisely in your gentleness;
Doch, um dich nicht weiter zu belästigen, ersuche ich dich, uns in Kürze nach deiner Geneigtheit anzuhören.
5 for having found this man a pestilence, and moving a dissension to all the Jews through the world—also a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes—
Diesen Mann also haben wir kennen gelernt als Verderber und Unruhestifter unter allen Juden auf dem Erdkreis, und Anführer der Nazoräer-Sekte,
6 who also tried to profane the temple, whom we also took, [[and wished to judge according to our law,
der nun auch versucht hat, den Tempel zu entweihen. So haben wir ihn festgenommen,
7 and Lysias the chief captain having come near, took away out of our hands with much violence,
und wir wollten ihn nach unserem Gesetz richten. Aber der Oberst Lysias kam herunter und nahm ihn uns mit Gewalt, und befahl seinen Anklägern zu dir zu kommen,
8 having commanded his accusers to come to you, ]] from whom you may be able, yourself having examined, to know concerning all these things of which we accuse him”;
und du magst nun selbst ihn verhören, und dich über das alles vergewissern, wessen wir ihn verklagen.
9 and the Jews also agreed, professing these things to be so.
Es schloßen sich aber auch die Juden an und bestätigten seine Angaben.
10 And Paul—the governor having beckoned to him to speak—answered, “Knowing [that] for many years you have been a judge to this nation, I answer more cheerfully the things concerning myself;
Auf den Wink des Statthalters, zu reden, nahm auch Paulus das Wort: da ich dich als vieljährigen Richter bei diesem Volke kenne, verteidige ich gutes Muts meine Sache.
11 you being able to know that it is not more than twelve days to me since I went up to worship in Jerusalem,
Wie du dich vergewissern magst, sind es erst zwölf Tage, daß ich nach Jerusalem hinaufkam, um anzubeten.
12 and neither did they find me reasoning with anyone in the temple, or making a dissension of the multitude, nor in the synagogues, nor in the city;
Und weder hat man mich im Tempel betroffen, daß ich zu jemand geredet oder einen Volksauflauf gemacht hätte, noch in den Synagogen, noch in der Stadt.
13 nor are they able to prove against me the things concerning which they now accuse me.
Auch nichts können sie dir beweisen von den Anklagen, die sie jetzt gegen mich vorbringen.
14 And I confess this to you, that, according to The Way that they call a sect, so I serve the God of the fathers, believing all things that have been written in the Law and the Prophets,
Ich bekenne dir aber dies, daß ich nach der Lehre, die sie eine Sekte nennen, so meinem angestammten Gott diene, indem ich alles glaube, was im Gesetz und in den Propheten geschrieben ist,
15 having hope toward God, which they themselves also wait for, [that] there is about to be a resurrection of the dead, both of righteous and unrighteous;
und die Hoffnung zu Gott habe, welche auch diese selbst annehmen, daß eine Auferstehung der Gerechten und Ungerechten kommen werde.
16 and in this I exercise myself, to always have a conscience void of offense toward God and men.
Darum bemühe ich mich auch ein unverletztes Gewissen zu haben gegenüber von Gott und den Menschen in allewege.
17 And after many years I came, about to do kind acts to my nation, and offerings,
Ich kam aber nach mehreren Jahren mit Almosen für mein Volk und Opfergaben;
18 in which certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, not with multitude, nor with tumult,
dabei haben sie mich gefunden als einen der sich der Reinigung unterworfen, im Tempel, nicht mit einer Volksmenge noch im Tumult.
19 whom it is necessary to be present before you, and to accuse, if they had anything against me,
Einige Juden aber aus Asia, die müßten hier stehen und klagen, wenn sie etwas gegen mich wüßten,
20 or let these same say if they found any unrighteousness in me in my standing before the Sanhedrin,
oder sollen diese selbst sagen, was sie für ein Vergehen herausgebracht, da ich vor dem Synedrium stand,
21 except concerning this one voice, in which I cried, standing among them—Concerning a resurrection of the dead I am judged by you today.”
als etwa wegen des einen Wortes, das ich vor ihnen ausrief: um der Auferstehung der Toten willen muß ich heute bei euch zu Gericht stehen.
22 And having heard these things, Felix delayed them—having known more exactly of the things concerning The Way—saying, “When Lysias the chief captain may come down, I will know fully the things concerning you”;
Felix aber vertagte ihre Sache, da er recht gut wußte, um was es sich bei der Lehre handle, und sprach: wenn der Oberst Lysias herunterkommt, will ich mich über eure Angelegenheit erkundigen,
23 having also given a direction to the centurion to keep Paul, to let [him] also have liberty, and to forbid none of his own friends to minister or to come near to him.
und wies den Hauptmann an, daß er in Gewahrsam gehalten werde, doch in leichter Haft, und niemand von den Seinigen an Dienstleistungen gegen ihn verhindert werden solle.
24 And after certain days, Felix having come with his wife Drusilla, being a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning faith toward Christ,
Einige Tage nachher aber erschien Felix mit seiner Frau Drusilla, einer Jüdin, und beschied den Paulus und hörte ihn über den Glauben an Christus Jesus.
25 and he reasoning concerning righteousness, and self-control, and the judgment that is about to be, Felix, having become afraid, answered, “For the present be going, and having time, I will call for you”;
Da er aber von Gerechtigkeit und Enthaltsamkeit und dem künftigen Gerichte redete, ward dem Felix bange, und er antwortete: für diesmal kannst du gehen; wenn ich einmal Zeit bekomme, will ich dich holen lassen;
26 and at the same time also hoping that money will be given to him by Paul, that he may release him, therefore, also sending for him often, he was conversing with him;
wobei er zugleich hoffte, daß er von Paulus Geld bekommen werde; darum ließ er ihn auch öfter holen, und besprach sich mit ihm.
27 and two years having been fulfilled, Felix received a successor, Porcius Festus; Felix also willing to lay a favor on the Jews, left Paul bound.
Nachdem aber zwei Jahre herumgegangen, erhielt Felix den Porcius Festus zum Nachfolger, und weil Felix die Juden sich verpflichten wollte, hinterließ er den Paulus in Banden.
