2 Thessalonians 2
1 And we ask you, brothers, in regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together to Him,
Or nous vous conjurons, mes frères, par l’avènement de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, et par notre réunion avec lui,
2 that you are not quickly shaken in mind, nor be troubled, neither through spirit, neither through word, neither through letters as through us, as that the Day of the LORD has arrived;
De ne point vous laisser si vite ébranler dans vos sentiments, ni effrayer, soit par quelque esprit, soit par des discours, soit par des lettres supposées venir de nous, comme si le jour du Seigneur était proche.
3 do not let anyone deceive you in any way, because if the departure may not come first, the man of lawlessness may [not] be revealed—the son of destruction,
Que personne ne vous séduise en aucune manière; car il ne viendra point, qu’auparavant ne soit venue l’apostasie, et que n’ait paru l’homme du péché, le fils de la perdition,
4 who is opposing and is raising himself up above all called god or worshiped, so as for him to have sat down in the temple of God, proclaiming that he is God.
Qui se pose en ennemi et s’élève au-dessus de tout ce qui est appelé Dieu, ou qui est adoré, jusqu’à s’asseoir dans le temple de Dieu, se faisant passer lui-même pour Dieu.
5 Do you not remember that, yet being with you, I said these things to you?
Ne vous souvient-il pas que, lorsque j’étais encore avec vous, je vous disais ces choses?
6 And now, you have known what is restraining, for his being revealed in his own time,
Et vous savez ce qui le retient maintenant, afin qu’il paraisse en son temps;
7 for the secret of lawlessness already works, only the [One] now restraining [will do so] until He may come out of [the] midst,
Car déjà s’opère le mystère d’iniquité; seulement, que celui qui tient maintenant, tienne jusqu’à ce qu’il disparaisse.
8 and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the LORD will consume with the Spirit of His mouth, and will nullify at the appearance of His coming,
Et alors apparaîtra cet impie que le Seigneur Jésus tuera par le souffle de sa bouche, et qu’il détruira par l’éclat de son avènement.
9 whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders,
Il viendra par l’opération de Satan, au milieu de toute sorte de miracles, de signes et de prodiges menteurs,
10 and in all deceitfulness of the unrighteousness in those perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth for their being saved,
Et avec toute séduction d’iniquité pour ceux qui périssent, parce qu’ils n’ont pas reçu l’amour de la vérité afin d’être sauvés.
11 and because of this God will send to them a working of delusion, for their believing the lie,
C’est pourquoi Dieu leur enverra une opération d’erreur, de manière qu’ils croiront au mensonge;
12 that they may be judged—all who did not believe the truth, but were well pleased in the unrighteousness.
En sorte que soient condamnés tous ceux qui n’ont pas cru à la vérité, mais ont acquiescé à l’iniquité.
13 And we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brothers, beloved by the LORD, that God chose you from the beginning to salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth,
Mais nous, mes frères chéris de Dieu, nous devons sans cesse rendre grâces à Dieu pour vous, de ce qu’il vous a choisis comme des prémices, pour vous sauver par la sanctification de l’Esprit et par la foi de la vérité,
14 to which He called you through our good news, to the acquiring of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ;
À laquelle il vous a appelés par notre Evangile, pour acquérir la gloire de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
15 so, then, brothers, stand fast, and hold the traditions that you were taught, whether through word, whether through our letter;
C’est pourquoi, mes frères, demeurez fermes, et gardez les traditions que vous avez apprises soit par nos discours, soit par notre lettre.
16 and may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who loved us, and gave continuous comfort, and good hope in grace, (aiōnios g166)
Que Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ lui même, et que notre Dieu et Père, qui nous a aimés et nous a donné une consolation éternelle et une bonne espérance par sa grâce, (aiōnios g166)
17 comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.
Ranime vos cœurs, et vous affermisse en toute bonne œuvre et toute bonne doctrine.
