2 Samuel 5
1 And all the tribes of Israel come to David, to Hebron, and speak, saying, “Behold, we [are] your bone and your flesh;
੧ਇਹ ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੋਤ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਹੀ ਹੱਡੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਸ ਹਾਂ।
2 also thus far, in Saul’s being king over us, you have been he who is bringing out and bringing in Israel, and YHWH says to you, You feed My people Israel, and you are for leader over Israel.”
੨ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਸਾਡਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੀ, ਤਦ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਚਰਵਾਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ।
3 And all [the] elderly of Israel come to the king, to Hebron, and King David makes a covenant with them in Hebron before YHWH, and they anoint David for king over Israel.
੩ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ, ਦਾਊਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਾਇਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਮਸਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
4 A son of thirty years [is] David in his being king; he has reigned [for] forty years;
੪ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਤੀਹ ਸਾਲ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਚਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਸਾਲ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ।
5 he reigned over Judah in Hebron [for] seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned [for] thirty-three years, over all Israel and Judah.
੫ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੱਤ ਸਾਲ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਤੀ ਸਾਲ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ।
6 And the king goes, and his men, to Jerusalem, to the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, “You do not come in here, except [that] you turn aside the blind and the lame,” saying, “David does not come in here.”
੬ਫਿਰ ਰਾਜਾ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਸੈਨਿਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਯਬੂਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਨਾ ਵੜੇਂਗਾ ਪਰੰਤੂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੰਗੜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣਗੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਕਿ ਦਾਊਦ ਐਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੜ ਸਕੇਗਾ,
7 And David captures the fortress of Zion, it [is] the City of David.
੭ਪਰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦਾ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਬਣਿਆ।
8 And on that day David says, “Anyone striking the Jebusite, let him go up by the watercourse (and the lame and the blind—the hated of David’s soul).” Therefore they say, “The blind and lame—he does not come into the house.”
੮ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਯਬੂਸੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਨਾਲੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘੇ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੰਗੜੇ ਜਿਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ। ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਕਹਾਉਤ ਚੱਲ ਪਈ ਕਿ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੰਗੜੇ ਰਾਜ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੜ ਸਕਦੇ।
9 And David dwells in the fortress, and calls it the City of David, and David builds all around, from Millo and inward,
੯ਦਾਊਦ ਉਸ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਲੋ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਪਨਾਹ ਬਣਾਈ।
10 and David goes, going on and becoming great, and YHWH, God of Hosts, [is] with him.
੧੦ਦਾਊਦ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਧਦਾ ਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਸੀ।
11 And Hiram king of Tyre sends messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and craftsmen of wood, and craftsmen of stone, for walls, and they build a house for David,
੧੧ਸੂਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੀਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਕੋਲ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ਵਾਹਕ ਭੇਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਲੱਕੜ ਅਤੇ ਤਰਖਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਮਿਸਤਰੀ ਵੀ ਭੇਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਮਹਿਲ ਬਣਾਇਆ।
12 and David knows that YHWH has established him for king over Israel, and that He has lifted up his kingdom, because of His people Israel.
੧੨ਦਾਊਦ ਜਾਣ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਵਧਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
13 And again David takes concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after his coming from Hebron, and again there are born to David sons and daughters.
੧੩ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਰਖ਼ੈਲਾਂ ਰੱਖੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਧੀਆਂ ਜੰਮੇ।
14 And these [are] the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
੧੪ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੰਮੇ ਇਹ ਸਨ - ਸ਼ਮੂਆਹ, ਸ਼ੋਬਾਬ, ਨਾਥਾਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ,
15 and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
੧੫ਯਿਬਹਾਰ, ਅਲੀਸ਼ੂਆ, ਨਫ਼ਗ, ਅਤੇ ਯਾਫ਼ੀਆ
16 and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
੧੬ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾਮਾ, ਅਲਯਾਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਲੀਫ਼ਾਲਟ।
17 And the Philistines hear that they have anointed David for king over Israel, and all the Philistines come up to seek David, and David hears, and goes down to the fortress,
੧੭ਜਦ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਿ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਮਸਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਸਾਰੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ। ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ।
18 and the Philistines have come, and are spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
੧੮ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਰਫ਼ਾਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲ ਗਏ।
19 And David asks of YHWH, saying, “Do I go up to the Philistines? Do You give them into my hand?” And YHWH says to David, “Go up, for I certainly give the Philistines into your hand.”
੧੯ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ? ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ? ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜਾ, ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।
20 And David comes to Ba‘al-Perazim, and David strikes them there, and says, “YHWH has broken forth [on] my enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters”; therefore he has called the name of that place Ba‘al-Perazim.
੨੦ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦਾਊਦ ਬਆਲ-ਪਰਾਸੀਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਪਿਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਰੋੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ! ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਆਲ-ਪਰਾਸੀਮ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
21 And they forsake their idols there, and David and his men lift them up.
੨੧ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮੂਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਛੱਡਿਆ, ਸੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਿਆ।
22 And the Philistines add again to come up, and are spread out in the Valley of Rephaim,
੨੨ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਫੇਰ ਮੁੜ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਰਫ਼ਾਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲ ਗਏ।
23 and David asks of YHWH, and He says, “You do not go up, turn around to their rear, and you have come to them from the front [[or in front]] of the mulberries,
੨੩ਸੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਫੇਰ ਸਲਾਹ ਮੰਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਪਰ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਦੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰਾ ਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂਤ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ,
24 and it comes to pass, in your hearing the sound of a stepping in the tops of the mulberries, then you move sharply, for then YHWH has gone out before you to strike in the camp of the Philistines.”
੨੪ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੂੰ ਤੂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਉੱਪਰਲੀਆਂ ਟਾਹਣੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੇ ਤਾਂ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰੇਗਾ।
25 And David does so, as YHWH commanded him, and strikes the Philistines from Geba to your coming to Gazer.
੨੫ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ, ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਬਾ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗਜ਼ਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ਤੱਕ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
