2 Samuel 5
1 And all the tribes of Israel come to David, to Hebron, and speak, saying, “Behold, we [are] your bone and your flesh;
ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളെല്ലാം ഹെബ്രോനിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുത്തെത്തി അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങയുടെതന്നെ മാംസവും രക്തവുമാണല്ലോ!
2 also thus far, in Saul’s being king over us, you have been he who is bringing out and bringing in Israel, and YHWH says to you, You feed My people Israel, and you are for leader over Israel.”
മുമ്പ് ശൗൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു രാജാവായിരുന്നപ്പോഴും ഇസ്രായേലിനെ സൈനികരംഗങ്ങളിൽ നയിച്ചിരുന്നത് അങ്ങുതന്നെയായിരുന്നല്ലോ! ‘നീ എന്റെ ജനമായ ഇസ്രായേലിനു രാജാവായിരുന്ന് അവരെ മേയിച്ചുനടത്തും’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അങ്ങയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുമുണ്ടല്ലോ!”
3 And all [the] elderly of Israel come to the king, to Hebron, and King David makes a covenant with them in Hebron before YHWH, and they anoint David for king over Israel.
ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞ് ഇസ്രായേലിലെ ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരെല്ലാംകൂടി ഹെബ്രോനിൽ ദാവീദുരാജാവിന്റെ അടുത്തുവന്നു. അപ്പോൾ രാജാവ് അവരുമായി ഹെബ്രോനിൽവെച്ച് യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ ഒരു ഉടമ്പടിചെയ്തു. അതിനുശേഷം അവർ ദാവീദിനെ ഇസ്രായേലിനു രാജാവായി അഭിഷേകംചെയ്തു.
4 A son of thirty years [is] David in his being king; he has reigned [for] forty years;
രാജാവാകുമ്പോൾ ദാവീദിനു മുപ്പതുവയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം നാൽപ്പതുവർഷം രാജാവായി വാണു.
5 he reigned over Judah in Hebron [for] seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned [for] thirty-three years, over all Israel and Judah.
ഹെബ്രോനിൽ അദ്ദേഹം യെഹൂദയ്ക്കു രാജാവായി ഏഴുവർഷവും ആറുമാസവും വാണു. ജെറുശലേമിൽ അദ്ദേഹം സകല ഇസ്രായേലിനും യെഹൂദയ്ക്കും രാജാവായി മുപ്പത്തിമൂന്നു വർഷവും വാണു.
6 And the king goes, and his men, to Jerusalem, to the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, “You do not come in here, except [that] you turn aside the blind and the lame,” saying, “David does not come in here.”
അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ, ജെറുശലേമിൽ താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന യെബൂസ്യരെ ആക്രമിക്കാനായി രാജാവും പടജനങ്ങളും അണിയണിയായി നീങ്ങി. “നീ ഇവിടെ ഈ നഗരത്തിനുള്ളിൽ കടക്കുകയില്ല. അന്ധർക്കും മുടന്തർക്കുംപോലും നിന്നെ തടയാൻ കഴിയും,” എന്ന് അവിടെ താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന യെബൂസ്യർ ദാവീദിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. ദാവീദിന് തങ്ങളുടെ കോട്ടയ്ക്കുള്ളിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല എന്ന് അവർ വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നു.
7 And David captures the fortress of Zion, it [is] the City of David.
എന്നിട്ടും ദാവീദ് സീയോൻകോട്ട പിടിച്ചടക്കി. അതുതന്നെ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരം.
8 And on that day David says, “Anyone striking the Jebusite, let him go up by the watercourse (and the lame and the blind—the hated of David’s soul).” Therefore they say, “The blind and lame—he does not come into the house.”
അന്നു ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞു: “ആരെങ്കിലും ദാവീദ് വെറുക്കുന്ന ‘അന്ധരും മുടന്തരുമായ’ യെബൂസ്യരെ പിടിച്ചടക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ, അവർ അവിടെ ചെന്നെത്തുന്നത് വെള്ളം കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതിനായി നിർമിച്ച തുരങ്കംവഴിയായിരിക്കണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “‘അന്ധരും മുടന്തരും’ കൊട്ടാരത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കരുത്,” എന്ന ചൊല്ലുണ്ടാകാനുള്ള കാരണം ഇതാണ്.
9 And David dwells in the fortress, and calls it the City of David, and David builds all around, from Millo and inward,
അതിനുശേഷം ദാവീദ് ആ കോട്ടയിൽ താമസമുറപ്പിച്ചു; അതിന് ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരമെന്നു പേരുവിളിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അദ്ദേഹം അതിന്റെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള സ്ഥലം മുകൾത്തട്ടുമുതൽ ഉള്ളിലേക്കു പണിതുയർത്തി.
10 and David goes, going on and becoming great, and YHWH, God of Hosts, [is] with him.
സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതിനാൽ ദാവീദ് മേൽക്കുമേൽ പ്രബലനായിത്തീർന്നു.
11 And Hiram king of Tyre sends messengers to David, and cedar-trees, and craftsmen of wood, and craftsmen of stone, for walls, and they build a house for David,
അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ, സോരിലെ രാജാവായ ഹീരാം ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു സ്ഥാനപതികളെ അയച്ചു. അവരോടൊപ്പം അദ്ദേഹം ദേവദാരുത്തടികളും അതു പണിയുന്നതിനുള്ള ആശാരിമാർ, കൽപ്പണിക്കാർ എന്നിവരെയുംകൂടി അയച്ചിരുന്നു. അവർ ദാവീദിനുവേണ്ടി ഒരു അരമന പണിതു.
12 and David knows that YHWH has established him for king over Israel, and that He has lifted up his kingdom, because of His people Israel.
തന്നെ ഇസ്രായേലിനു രാജാവായി യഹോവ സ്ഥിരപ്പെടുത്തിയെന്നും സ്വന്തജനമായ ഇസ്രായേലിനുവേണ്ടി തന്റെ രാജത്വത്തെ സമുന്നതമാക്കിയെന്നും ദാവീദ് മനസ്സിലാക്കി.
13 And again David takes concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after his coming from Hebron, and again there are born to David sons and daughters.
ഹെബ്രോൻ വിട്ടുപോന്നതിനുശേഷം, ജെറുശലേമിൽവെച്ച് ദാവീദ് കൂടുതൽ വെപ്പാട്ടികളെയും ഭാര്യമാരെയും സ്വീകരിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു കൂടുതൽ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.
14 And these [are] the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,
അവിടെവെച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു ജനിച്ച മക്കളുടെ പേരുകൾ ഇവയാണ്: ശമ്മൂവാ, ശോബാബ്, നാഥാൻ, ശലോമോൻ,
15 and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
യിബ്ഹാർ, എലീശൂവ, നേഫെഗ്, യാഫിയ,
16 and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.
എലീശാമ, എല്യാദാ, എലീഫേലെത്ത്.
17 And the Philistines hear that they have anointed David for king over Israel, and all the Philistines come up to seek David, and David hears, and goes down to the fortress,
ഇസ്രായേലിനു രാജാവായി ദാവീദ് അഭിഷിക്തനായി എന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ കേട്ടു. അപ്പോൾ അവർ സർവസന്നാഹങ്ങളുമായി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പിടിക്കാൻ വന്നു. എന്നാൽ ഈ വിവരം അറിഞ്ഞ ദാവീദ് കോട്ടയ്ക്കുള്ളിലേക്കുപോയി.
18 and the Philistines have come, and are spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.
ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ വന്ന് രെഫായീം താഴ്വരയിൽ നിരന്നു.
19 And David asks of YHWH, saying, “Do I go up to the Philistines? Do You give them into my hand?” And YHWH says to David, “Go up, for I certainly give the Philistines into your hand.”
അതിനാൽ ദാവീദ് യഹോവയോട് ചോദിച്ചു: “ഞാൻ ചെന്ന് ആ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ ആക്രമിക്കണമോ? അങ്ങ് അവരെ എന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കുമോ?” യഹോവ ദാവീദിന് ഉത്തരമരുളി: “പോകുക, നിശ്ചയമായും ഞാൻ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ നിന്റെ കൈകളിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുതരും.”
20 And David comes to Ba‘al-Perazim, and David strikes them there, and says, “YHWH has broken forth [on] my enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters”; therefore he has called the name of that place Ba‘al-Perazim.
അതിനാൽ ദാവീദ് ബാൽ-പെരാസീമിലേക്കു മുന്നേറി. അവിടെവെച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ തോൽപ്പിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞു: “യഹോവ വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടംപോലെ എന്റെമുമ്പിൽ എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെനേരേ ഇരച്ചുകയറി അവരെ തകർത്തുകളഞ്ഞല്ലോ!” അതിനാൽ ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന് ബാൽ-പെരാസീം എന്നു പേരായി.
21 And they forsake their idols there, and David and his men lift them up.
ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ തങ്ങളുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ അവിടെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് ഓടിപ്പോയി. ദാവീദും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ആളുകളും അവയെല്ലാം എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.
22 And the Philistines add again to come up, and are spread out in the Valley of Rephaim,
ഒരു പ്രാവശ്യംകൂടി ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ വന്ന് രെഫായീം താഴ്വരയിൽ നിരന്നു.
23 and David asks of YHWH, and He says, “You do not go up, turn around to their rear, and you have come to them from the front [[or in front]] of the mulberries,
ദാവീദ് യഹോവയോട് അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ: “നീ നേരേ ചെല്ലാതെ പിൻഭാഗത്തുകൂടി അവരെ ചുറ്റുംവളഞ്ഞ് ബാഖാവൃക്ഷങ്ങൾക്കുമുമ്പിൽവെച്ച് അവരെ ആക്രമിക്കുക!
24 and it comes to pass, in your hearing the sound of a stepping in the tops of the mulberries, then you move sharply, for then YHWH has gone out before you to strike in the camp of the Philistines.”
ബാഖാവൃക്ഷങ്ങൾക്കുമുകളിൽ സൈനികനീക്കത്തിന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടാലുടൻ വേഗം പുറപ്പെടണം; ഫെലിസ്ത്യസൈന്യത്തെ സംഹരിക്കാൻ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കുമുമ്പായി പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നാണ് ആ ശബ്ദത്തിന്റെ അർഥം” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
25 And David does so, as YHWH commanded him, and strikes the Philistines from Geba to your coming to Gazer.
അങ്ങനെ, യഹോവ കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെതന്നെ ദാവീദ് ചെയ്തു. ഗിബെയോൻമുതൽ ഗേസെർവരെ, വഴിയിലുടനീളം അദ്ദേഹം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.
