2 Samuel 4
1 And the son of Saul hears that Abner [is] dead in Hebron, and his hands are feeble, and all of Israel has been troubled.
Et lorsque le fils de Saül apprit que Abner était mort à Hébron, il perdit courage et tout Israël fut consterné.
2 And two men, heads of troops, have been [to] the son of Saul, the name of the first [is] Baanah, and the name of the second Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin, for Beeroth is also reckoned to Benjamin,
Or le fils de Saül avait deux hommes, chefs de partisans, nommés, l'un Baana, et l'autre Rechab, qui étaient fils de Rimmon de Bééroth, d'entre les enfants de Benjamin. (Car Bééroth aussi est regardée comme étant sur Benjamin,
3 and the Beerothites flee to Gittaim, and are sojourners there to this day.
et les Béérothites se sont enfuis à Githaïm où ils ont été comme émigrés jusqu'aujourd'hui.)
4 And to Jonathan son of Saul [is] a son—lame; he was a son of five years at the coming in of the rumor of [the death of] Saul and Jonathan, out of Jezreel, and his nurse lifts him up, and flees, and it comes to pass in her hastening to flee, that he falls, and becomes lame, and his name [is] Mephibosheth.
Et Jonathan, fils de Saül, avait un fils perclus des deux pieds: il était âgé de cinq ans lorsque de Jizréel étaient venues les nouvelles de Saül et de Jonathan; alors sa nourrice l'avait pris et s'était enfuie; et dans la précipitation de sa fuite, il avait fait une chute qui l'avait laissé boiteux, et son nom était Mephiboseth.
5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, go, and come in at the heat of the day to the house of Ish-Bosheth, and he is lying down—the lying down of noon;
Et les fils de Rimmon de Bééroth, Rechab et Baana, s'en vinrent et entrèrent au chaud du jour chez Isboseth, comme il était couché pour son repos de midi.
6 and they have come there, to the midst of the house, taking wheat, and they strike him to the fifth [rib], and Rechab and his brother Baanah have escaped;
Et là ils s'introduisirent dans le centre de la maison [comme] pour enlever du froment; et ils l'éventrèrent; et Rechab et Baana, son frère, s'évadèrent.
7 indeed, they come into the house, and he is lying on his bed, in the inner part of his bed-chamber, and they strike him, and put him to death, and turn his head aside, and they take his head, and go the way of the plain all the night,
Ils pénétrèrent dans la maison comme il reposait sur son lit dans sa chambre à coucher, et ils le frappèrent et le tuèrent, et lui coupèrent la tête qu'ils emportèrent; et ils cheminèrent toute la nuit à travers la plaine.
8 and bring in the head of Ish-Bosheth to David in Hebron, and say to the king, “Behold, the head of Ish-Bosheth, son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life; and YHWH gives vengeance to my lord the king this day, of Saul and of his seed.”
Et ils présentèrent la tête d'Isboseth à David à Hébron et dirent au Roi: Voici la tête d'Isboseth, fils de Saül, ton ennemi, qui cherchait ta perte. Aujourd'hui donc l'Éternel a permis que mon Seigneur le Roi fût vengé de Saül et de sa race.
9 And David answers Rechab and his brother Baanah, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and says to them, “YHWH lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
Mais David répondit à Rechab et à Baana, son frère, fils de Rimmon de Bééroth, et leur dit: Par la vie de l'Éternel qui a sauvé ma personne de tous les périls,
10 when one is declaring to me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, and he was as a bearer of tidings in his own eyes, then I take hold on him, and slay him in Ziklag, instead of my giving to him [for] the tidings.
l'informateur qui m'a dit: « Voici, Saül est mort » et se flattait d'apporter un heureux message, je l'ai fait saisir et mettre à mort à Tsiklag, lui à qui j'aurais dû donner une récompense:
11 Also—when wicked men have slain the righteous man in his own house, on his bed; and now, do I not require his blood from your hand, and have taken you away from the earth?”
à plus forte raison, lorsque des scélérats ont tué un homme juste dans sa maison sur sa couche, ne dois-je pas redemander son sang à vos mains, et vous exterminer de la terre?
12 And David commands the young men, and they slay them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hang [them] over the pool in Hebron, and they have taken the head of Ish-Bosheth, and bury [it] in the burying-place of Abner in Hebron.
Et David donna ordre aux valets, et ceux-ci les tuèrent et leur coupèrent les mains et les pieds, et les pendirent sur l'étang de Hébron; ils prirent la tête d'Isboseth et lui donnèrent la sépulture dans le tombeau d'Abner à Hébron.
