2 Samuel 3
1 And the war is long between the house of Saul and the house of David, and David is going on and [is] strong, and the house of Saul is going on and [is] weak.
೧ಬಹು ದಿನಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಸೌಲನ ವಂಶದವರಿಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ದಾವೀದನ ವಂಶದವರಿಗೂ ಯುದ್ಧ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ದಾವೀದನು ಬಲಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದನು. ಸೌಲನ ವಂಶವು ದುರ್ಬಲವಾಗುತ್ತಾ ಬಂತು.
2 And there are sons born to David in Hebron, and his firstborn is Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess,
೨ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಮಕ್ಕಳು; ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಮಗನು ಅಮ್ನೋನನು, ಇವನು ಇಜ್ರೇಲಿನವಳಾದ ಅಹೀನೋವಮಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನು.
3 and his second [is] Chileab, of Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelite, and the third [is] Absalom son of Maacah daughter of Talmai king of Geshur,
೩ಎರಡನೆಯವನು ಕಿಲಾಬನು. ಇವನು ಕರ್ಮೆಲ್ಯನಾದ ನಾಬಾಲನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಬೀಗೈಲಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನು. ಮೂರನೆಯವನು ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನು. ಇವನು ಗೆಷೂರಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ತಲ್ಮೈ ಎಂಬುವನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಮಾಕಳ ಪುತ್ರನು.
4 and the fourth [is] Adonijah son of Haggith, and the fifth [is] Shephatiah son of Abital,
೪ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯವನು ಅದೋನೀಯನು. ಇವನು ಹಗ್ಗೀತಳ ಮಗನು. ಐದನೆಯವನು ಶೆಫಟ್ಯನು, ಇವನು ಅಬೀಟಲಳ ಮಗನು.
5 and the sixth [is] Ithream, of Eglah wife of David; these have been born to David in Hebron.
೫ಆರನೆಯವನು ಇತ್ರಾಮನು. ಇವನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಎಗ್ಲಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದವನು. ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವಾಗ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಇವರೇ.
6 And it comes to pass, in the war being between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner has been strengthening himself in the house of Saul,
೬ಸೌಲನ ವಂಶದವರಿಗೂ ದಾವೀದನ ವಂಶದವರಿಗೂ ಯುದ್ಧ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಸೌಲನ ವಂಶದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬ್ನೇರನೇ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
7 and Saul has a concubine, and her name [is] Rizpah daughter of Aiah, and [Ish-Bosheth] says to Abner, “Why have you gone in to the concubine of my father?”
೭ಅಯಾಹನ ಮಗಳಾದ ರಿಚ್ಪಳು ಸೌಲನ ಉಪಪತ್ನಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನು ಅಬ್ನೇರನನ್ನು, “ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಉಪಪತ್ನಿಯರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿದ್ದೇಕೆ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
8 And it is exceedingly displeasing to Abner, because of the words of Ish-Bosheth, and he says, “[Am] I the head of a dog—that in reference to Judah, today I do kindness with the house of your father Saul, to his brothers, and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hand of David—that you charge against me iniquity concerning the woman today?
೮ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನಿಗೆ, “ಈ ವರೆಗೆ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಸೌಲನ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೂ ಅವನ ಬಂಧು ಮಿತ್ರರಿಗೂ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನಲ್ಲಾ. ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲವಷ್ಟೆ. ಈಗ ಈ ಹೆಂಗಸಿನ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ತಪ್ಪುಹಿಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನೇನು ಯೆಹೂದ ನಾಯಿಯ ತಲೆಯೋ?
9 Thus God does to Abner, and thus He adds to him, surely as YHWH has sworn to David—surely so I do to him:
೯ನಾನು ಅರಸುತನವನ್ನು ಸೌಲನ ಕುಟುಂಬದಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದು ದಾನಿನಿಂದ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದ ವರೆಗಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಿರಪಡಿಸಿ,
10 to cause the kingdom to pass over from the house of Saul, and to raise up the throne of David over Israel, and over Judah, from Dan even to Beer-Sheba.”
೧೦ಯೆಹೋವನಾದ ದೇವರು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ವಾಗ್ದಾನವನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸದೆ ಹೋದರೆ, ಆತನು ನನಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಿ” ಅಂದನು.
11 And he is not able to return a word [to] Abner anymore, because of his fearing him.
೧೧ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಿ ಏನೂ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದನು.
12 And Abner sends messengers to David for himself, saying, “Whose [is] the land?” [And] saying, “Make your covenant with me, and behold, my hand [is] with you, to bring around all Israel to you.”
೧೨ಅನಂತರ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ದೇಶವು ಯಾರದು? ನೀನು ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಸಿದನು.
13 And [David] says, “Good—I make a covenant with you; only, one thing I am asking of you, that is, you do not see my face, except [that] you first bring in Michal daughter of Saul in your coming in to see my face.”
೧೩ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾವೀದನು, “ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು, ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಹಾಯ ಬೇಕು. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ಸೌಲನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಮೀಕಲಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಬೇಕು. ಹಾಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಾರದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ನೋಡಕೂಡದು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
14 And David sends messengers to Ish-Bosheth son of Saul, saying, “Give up my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to myself with one hundred foreskins of the Philistines.”
೧೪ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನ ಮಗನಾದ ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಮುಂದೊಗಲನ್ನು ತಂದು ಕೊಟ್ಟು ವರಿಸಿದ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಮೀಕಲಳನ್ನು ನನಗೊಪ್ಪಿಸು” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
15 And Ish-Bosheth sends, and takes her from a man, from Phaltiel son of Laish,
೧೫ಈಷ್ಬೋಶೆತನು ಲಯಿಷನ ಮಗನೂ ಆಕೆಯ ಗಂಡನೂ ಆದ ಪಲ್ಟೀಯೇಲನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಆಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿದನು.
16 and her husband goes with her, going on and weeping behind her, to Bahurim, and Abner says to him, “Go, return”; and he turns back.
೧೬ಆಗ ಪಲ್ಟೀಯೇಲನು ಬಹುರೀಮಿನವರೆಗೆ ಅಳುತ್ತಾ ಆಕೆಯ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋದನು. ಅನಂತರ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಅವನು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಹೋದನು.
17 And the word of Abner was with [the] elderly of Israel, saying, “Thus far you have been seeking David for king over you,
೧೭ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ, “ದಾವೀದನು ನಮ್ಮ ಅರಸನಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ನೀವು ಮೊದಲು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿದಂತೆಯೇ ಈಗ ಮಾಡಿರಿ.
18 and now, do [it], for YHWH has spoken of David saying, [It is] by the hand of my servant David to save My people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.”
೧೮ಯೆಹೋವನು ದಾವೀದನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ದಾವೀದನ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕೈಗೂ ಬೇರೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಕೈಗೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಸುವನೆಂದು ನುಡಿದಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲಾ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
19 And Abner also speaks in the ears of Benjamin, and Abner also goes to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that [is] good in the eyes of Israel, and in the eyes of all the house of Benjamin,
೧೯ಅವನು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೂ ಇದೇ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಹೇಳಿದನು. ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟನು.
20 and Abner comes to David, to Hebron, and twenty men [are] with him, and David makes a banquet for Abner and for the men who [are] with him.
೨೦ಅವನು ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನಿಗೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಜನರಿಗೂ ಔತಣ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.
21 And Abner says to David, “I arise, and go, and gather the whole of Israel to my lord the king, and they make a covenant with you, and you have reigned over all that your soul desires”; and David sends Abner away, and he goes in peace.
೨೧ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೂಡಿಸಿ, ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರುವೆನು. ಅವರು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು. ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆಯಂತೆ ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ದೊರೆತನಮಾಡಬಹುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಾನದಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
22 And behold, the servants of David, and Joab, have come from the troop, and have brought much spoil with them, and Abner is not with David in Hebron, for he has sent him away, and he goes in peace;
೨೨ಸುಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ದಾವೀದನ ಭಟರು ಯೋವಾಬನೂ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯೊಡನೆ ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದರು. ಅವನು ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ದಾವೀದನ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದನು.
23 and Joab and all the host that [were] with him have come, and they declare to Joab, saying, “Abner son of Ner has come to the king, and he sends him away, and he goes in peace.”
೨೩ಸೈನ್ಯಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದ ಯೋವಾಬನು ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಬಂದಿದ್ದನೆಂದೂ, ಅರಸನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನೆಂದೂ ತಿಳಿದು, ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ,
24 And Joab comes to the king and says, “What have you done? Behold, Abner has come to you! Why [is] this—you have sent him away, and he is really gone?
೨೪“ನೀನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನು? ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದನಂತೆ. ನೀನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇಕೆ?
25 You have known Abner son of Ner, that he came to deceive you, and to know your going out and your coming in, and to know all that you are doing.”
೨೫ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನ ಸಂಗತಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಅವನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ವಂಚಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ನೀನು ಏನೇನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತೀ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಬಂದಿದ್ದನಷ್ಟೇ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ,
26 And Joab goes out from David, and sends messengers after Abner, and they bring him back from the well of Sirah, and David did not know.
೨೬ಯೋವಾಬನು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು, ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅಬ್ನೇರನನ್ನು ಕರೆತರುವಂತೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಇವರು ಹೋಗಿ ಸಿರಾ ಬಾವಿಯ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು. ಇದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
27 And Abner turns back to Hebron, and Joab turns him aside to the midst of the gate to speak with him quietly, and strikes him there in the fifth [rib]—and he dies—for the blood of his brother Asahel.
೨೭ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅವನನ್ನು ರಹಸ್ಯ ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆಗೋ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಊರಬಾಗಿಲಿನೊಳಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಿವಿದು ಕೊಂದನು.
28 And David hears afterward and says, “My kingdom and I [are] acquitted by YHWH for all time, from the blood of Abner son of Ner;
೨೮ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಈ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿತು. ಆಗ ಅವನು, “ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನ ರಕ್ತಾಪರಾಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನೂ, ನನ್ನ ರಾಜ್ಯವೂ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಸದಾ ನಿರ್ದೋಷಿಗಳು.
29 it stays on the head of Joab, and on all the house of his father, and there is not cut off from the house of Joab one who has discharging, and leprous, and laying hold on a staff, and falling by a sword, and lacking bread.”
೨೯ಈ ಅಪರಾಧವು ಯೋವಾಬನ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅವನ ಸಂತಾನದವರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಇರಲಿ. ಅವನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಹಸ್ರಾವವುಳ್ಳವರೂ (ರಕ್ತ, ಕೀವುಸ್ರವಿಸುವ ಚರ್ಮ ರೋಗ), ಕುಷ್ಠರೋಗಿಗಳೂ, ಕುಂಟರೂ, ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಹತರಾಗುವವರೂ, ಭಿಕ್ಷೇ ಬೇಡುವವರು ಇದ್ದೇ ಇರಲಿ” ಅಂದನು.
30 And Joab and his brother Abishai slew Abner because that he put their brother Asahel to death in Gibeon, in battle.
೩೦ಅಬ್ನೇರನು ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಾದ ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋವಾಬ ಅಬೀಷೈಯರ ತಮ್ಮನಾದ ಅಸಾಹೇಲನನ್ನು ಸಾಯಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಇವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದರು.
31 And David says to Joab, and to all the people who [are] with him, “Tear your garments, and gird on sackcloth, and mourn before Abner”; and King David is going after the bier.
೩೧ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಜನರಿಗೂ, “ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು, ಗೋಣಿತಟ್ಟುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡು, ಗೋಳಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅಬ್ನೇರನ ಶವದ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆಯಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ ತಾನು ಶವಯಾತ್ರೆ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋದನು.
32 And they bury Abner in Hebron, and the king lifts up his voice, and weeps at the grave of Abner, and all the people weep;
೩೨ಅಬ್ನೇರನ ಶವವನ್ನು ಹೆಬ್ರೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅರಸನು ಅವನ ಸಮಾಧಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ನಿಂತು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅತ್ತನು. ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅತ್ತರು.
33 and the king laments for Abner and says, “Does Abner die as the death of a fool?
೩೩ದಾವೀದನು ಅಬ್ನೇರನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು, “ಅಬ್ನೇರನೇ ನಿನಗೆ ಮೂರ್ಖರಿಗಾಗುವಂತೆ ದುರ್ಮರಣವಾಯಿತೋ?
34 Your hands not bound, And your feet not brought near to chains! You have fallen as one falling before sons of evil!” And all the people add to weep over him.
೩೪ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳು ಕಟ್ಟಲ್ಪಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿನ್ನ ಕಾಲುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೇಡಿಗಳು ಹಾಕಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀನು ದುಷ್ಟರಿಂದ ಹತನಾದಂತೆ ಹತನಾದಿ” ಎಂದು ಶೋಕಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಡಲು ಜನರು ತಿರುಗಿ ಅತ್ತರು.
35 And all the people come to cause David to eat bread while yet day, and David swears, saying, “Thus God does to me, and thus He adds, for—before the going in of the sun, I taste no bread or any other thing.”
೩೫ಸೂರ್ಯಸ್ತಮಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲೇ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು, “ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಮುಣುಗುವ ಮೊದಲು ನಾನು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವುದನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿದರೆ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಆಣೆಯಿಟ್ಟು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
36 And all the people have discerned [it], and it is good in their eyes, as all that the king has done is good in the eyes of all the people;
೩೬ಜನರು ಇದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದರು. ಅರಸನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಗೆಯಾಯಿತು.
37 and all the people know, even all Israel, in that day, that it has not been from the king—to put Abner son of Ner to death.
೩೭ನೇರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ನೇರನ ಕೊಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಸನು ಕೈಹಾಕಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂಬುದು ಅವನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಿಗೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೂ ಅದೇ ದಿನ ಗೊತ್ತಾಯಿತು.
38 And the king says to his servants, “Do you not know that a prince and a great one has fallen this day in Israel?
೩೮ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ, “ಈ ದಿನ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಹತವಾದವನು, ಪ್ರಭುವೂ, ಮಹಾಪುರುಷನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನೆಂಬುದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿದೆಯಲ್ಲಾ.
39 And today I [am] tender, and an anointed king: and these men, sons of Zeruiah, [are] too hard for me; YHWH repays to the doer of the evil according to his evil.”
೩೯ನಾನು ರಾಜ್ಯಾಭಿಷೇಕ ಹೊಂದಿದವನಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಈಗ ಏನೂ ಮಾಡಲಾರದವನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಚೆರೂಯಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದ ಇವರು ನನ್ನ ಹತೋಟಿಗೆ ಬಾರದವರು ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ಕೆಡುಕರಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ತೀರಿಸಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
