2 Samuel 24
1 And the anger of YHWH adds to burn against Israel, and [an adversary] moves David about them, saying, “Go, number Israel and Judah.”
Nuevamente ardió la ira de Yahvé contra Israel, y movió a David contra ellos, diciendo: “Ve, cuenta a Israel y a Judá”.
2 And the king says to Joab, head of the host that [is] with him, “Now go to and fro through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beer-Sheba, and inspect the people; then I have known the number of the people.”
El rey dijo a Joab, el capitán del ejército, que estaba con él: “Ve ahora de un lado a otro por todas las tribus de Israel, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, y cuenta el pueblo, para que yo sepa la suma del pueblo.”
3 And Joab says to the king, “Indeed, your God YHWH adds to the people, as they are, one hundred times, and the eyes of my lord the king are seeing; and my lord the king, why is he desirous of this thing?”
Joab dijo al rey: “Ahora, que el Señor, tu Dios, añada al pueblo, por más que sea, cien veces, y que los ojos de mi señor el rey lo vean. Pero, ¿por qué se complace mi señor el rey en esto?”.
4 And the word of the king is severe toward Joab, and against the heads of the force, and Joab goes out, and the heads of the force, [from] before the king to inspect the people, even Israel;
No obstante, la palabra del rey prevaleció contra Joab y contra los capitanes del ejército. Joab y los capitanes del ejército salieron de la presencia del rey para contar al pueblo de Israel.
5 and they pass over the Jordan, and encamp in Aroer, on the right of the city that [is] in the midst of the Brook of Gad, and to Jazer,
Pasaron el Jordán y acamparon en Aroer, a la derecha de la ciudad que está en medio del valle de Gad, y hasta Jazer;
6 and they come to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim-Hodshi, and they come to Dan-Jaan, and around to Sidon,
luego llegaron a Galaad y a la tierra de Tahtim Hodshi; y llegaron a Dan Jaan y alrededor de Sidón,
7 and they come to the fortress of Tyre, and all the cities of the Hivite, and of the Canaanite, and go out to the south of Judah, to Beer-Sheba.
y llegaron a la fortaleza de Tiro, y a todas las ciudades de los heveos y de los cananeos; y salieron al sur de Judá, en Beerseba.
8 And they go to and fro through all the land, and come in to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days,
Después de recorrer todo el país, llegaron a Jerusalén al cabo de nueve meses y veinte días.
9 and Joab gives the account of the inspection of the people to the king, and Israel is eight hundred thousand men of valor, drawing sword, and the men of Judah five hundred thousand men.
Joab entregó al rey la suma del recuento del pueblo; y había en Israel ochocientos mil hombres valientes que sacaban la espada, y los de Judá eran quinientos mil hombres.
10 And the heart of David strikes him, after that he has numbered the people, and David says to YHWH, “I have greatly sinned in that which I have done, and now, O YHWH, please cause the iniquity of Your servant to pass away, for I have acted very foolishly.”
El corazón de David se conmovió después de haber contado al pueblo. David dijo a Yahvé: “He pecado mucho en lo que he hecho. Pero ahora, Yahvé, quita, te lo ruego, la iniquidad de tu siervo; porque he actuado con mucha insensatez.”
11 And David rises in the morning, and the word of YHWH has been to Gad the prophet, seer of David, saying,
Cuando David se levantó por la mañana, llegó la palabra de Yahvé al profeta Gad, vidente de David, diciendo:
12 “Go, and you have spoken to David, Thus said YHWH: I am lifting up three [choices] for you, choose one of them, and I do [it] to you.”
“Ve y habla a David: “Yahvé dice: “Te ofrezco tres cosas. Elige una de ellas, para que te la haga””.
13 And Gad comes to David, and declares [it] to him, and says to him, “Does seven years of famine come to you in your land? Or are you fleeing before your adversary [for] three months—and he is pursuing you? Or is there pestilence [for] three days in your land? Now, know and see what word I take back to Him sending me.”
Gad vino a David y le dijo: “¿Te vendrán siete años de hambre en tu tierra? ¿O huirás tres meses ante tus enemigos mientras te persiguen? ¿O habrá tres días de pestilencia en tu tierra? Responde ahora, y considera qué respuesta daré al que me ha enviado”.
14 And David says to Gad, “I have great distress; please let us fall into the hand of YHWH, for His mercies [are] many, but do not let me fall into the hand of man.”
David dijo a Gad: “Estoy en apuros. Caigamos ahora en la mano de Yahvé, porque sus misericordias son grandes. No caiga en la mano del hombre”.
15 And YHWH gives a pestilence on Israel from the morning even to the time appointed, and there dies of the people, from Dan even to Beer-Sheba, seventy thousand men,
El Señor envió una peste sobre Israel desde la mañana hasta la hora señalada, y murieron setenta mil hombres del pueblo, desde Dan hasta Beerseba.
16 and the messenger puts forth his hand to Jerusalem to destroy it, and YHWH sighs concerning the calamity, and says to the messenger who is destroying among the people, “Enough, now, cease your hand”; and the messenger of YHWH was near the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
Cuando el ángel extendió su mano hacia Jerusalén para destruirla, Yahvé se despreocupó del desastre y dijo al ángel que destruía al pueblo: “Es suficiente. Ahora retira tu mano”. El ángel de Yahvé estaba junto a la era de Arauná el jebuseo.
17 And David speaks to YHWH when he sees the messenger who is striking among the people, and says, “Behold, I have sinned, indeed, I have done perversely; and these—the flock—what have they done? Please let Your hand be on me and on the house of my father.”
David habló a Yahvé cuando vio al ángel que golpeaba al pueblo, y dijo: “He aquí que he pecado y he obrado perversamente; pero estas ovejas, ¿qué han hecho? Por favor, que tu mano esté contra mí y contra la casa de mi padre”.
18 And Gad comes to David on that day and says to him, “Go up, raise an altar to YHWH in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite”;
Gad vino aquel día a David y le dijo: “Sube y construye un altar a Yahvé en la era de Arauna el jebuseo.”
19 and David goes up, according to the word of Gad, as YHWH commanded.
David subió según el dicho de Gad, tal como lo había ordenado el Señor.
20 And Araunah looks, and sees the king and his servants passing over to him, and Araunah goes out and bows himself to the king [with] his face to the earth.
Arauna se asomó y vio que el rey y sus servidores se acercaban a él. Entonces Arauna salió y se inclinó ante el rey con el rostro en tierra.
21 And Araunah says, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” And David says, “To buy the threshing-floor from you, to build an altar to YHWH, and the plague is restrained from the people.”
Arauna dijo: “¿Por qué ha venido mi señor el rey a su siervo?” David dijo: “Para comprar tu era, para construir un altar a Yahvé, para que la plaga deje de afligir al pueblo”.
22 And Araunah says to David, “Let my lord the king take [it] and cause that which is good in his eyes to ascend; see, [here are] the oxen for a burnt-offering, and the threshing instruments, and the instruments of the oxen, for wood”;
Arauna dijo a David: “Que mi señor el rey tome y ofrezca lo que le parezca bien. He aquí el ganado para el holocausto, y los trillos y los yugos de los bueyes para la leña.
23 Araunah has given the whole [as] a king to a king; and Araunah says to the king, “Your God YHWH accepts you.”
Todo esto, oh rey, lo da Arauna al rey”. Arauna dijo al rey: “Que Yahvé, tu Dios, te acepte”.
24 And the king says to Araunah, “No, for I surely buy from you for a price, and I do not cause burnt-offerings to ascend to my God YHWH for nothing”; and David buys the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver,
El rey le dijo a Arauna: “No, pero ciertamente te lo compraré por un precio. No ofreceré a Yahvé mi Dios holocaustos que no me cuestan nada”. Así que David compró la era y los bueyes por cincuenta siclos de plata.
25 and David builds an altar to YHWH there, and causes burnt-offerings and peace-offerings to ascend, and YHWH accepts the plea for the land, and the plague is restrained from Israel.
David construyó allí un altar a Yahvé, y ofreció holocaustos y ofrendas de paz. Así se suplicó a Yahvé por la tierra, y la plaga se alejó de Israel.
