2 Samuel 23
1 And these [are] the last words of David: “A declaration of David son of Jesse, And a declaration of the man raised up—Concerning the anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweetness of the songs of Israel:
Đây là những lời cuối cùng của Đa-vít: “Lời của Đa-vít con trai Gie-sê, một người được cất nhắc lên cao, được Đức Chúa Trời của Gia-cốp xức dầu, người viết thánh thi dịu dàng.
2 The Spirit of YHWH has spoken by me, And His word [is] on my tongue.
Thần Linh Chúa dùng miệng tôi bảo ban; lời Ngài ở nơi lưỡi tôi.
3 He said—the God of Israel—to me, He spoke—the Rock of Israel: He who is ruling over man [is] righteous, He is ruling in the fear of God.
Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên phán dạy: Vầng Đá dân ta có lời hay lẽ phải: Người nào cai trị công minh, biết lãnh đạo trong tinh thần tin kính,
4 And he rises as the light of morning, A morning sun [with] no clouds! By the shining, by the rain, Tender grass of the earth!
người sẽ như ánh sáng bình minh, vào một ngày trời quang mây tạnh, như ánh dương sau cơn mưa lạnh, làm cỏ non mọc lên xanh mởn.
5 For though my house [is] not so with God; So He made a perpetual covenant with me, Arranged in all things, and kept; For all my salvation, and all desire, For He has not caused [it] to spring up.
Chính gia đình tôi Ngài đã chọn, và kết ước vĩnh viễn với tôi. Mọi điều quy định Chúa không đổi dời. Ngài luôn cứu giúp, cho tôi thành công, như điều tôi ước mong.
6 As for the worthless—All of them [are] driven away as a thorn, For they are not taken away by hand;
Trái lại, kẻ vô đạo sẽ bị vứt bỏ, như gai gốc, chẳng ai muốn động tay sờ mó.
7 And the man who comes against them Is filled with iron and the staff of a spear, And they are utterly burned with fire In the cessation.”
Như đồ sắt rỉ hoặc cán thương, bị nhặt hết và đốt tan trong lửa hừng.”
8 These [are] the names of the mighty ones whom David has: sitting in the seat [is] the Tachmonite, head of the captains—he [is] Adino, who hardened himself against eight hundred—wounded at one time.
Sau đây là các chiến sĩ anh dũng trong đội quân Đa-vít: Trước hết là Giô-sép Ba-sê-bết người Tách-kê-môn, còn gọi là A-đô-nô ở Ê-xen, đứng đầu nhóm tam hùng. Ông ta đã giết 800 địch quân trong cùng một trận.
9 And after him [is] Eleazar son of Dodo, son of Ahohi, of the three mighty men with David; in their exposing themselves among the Philistines—they have been gathered there to battle, and the men of Israel go up—
Người thứ hai là Ê-lê-a-sa, con của Đô-đô người A-hô-hi, một trong ba dũng sĩ đã cùng với Đa-vít cầm chân đạo quân Phi-li-tin để cho người Ít-ra-ên rút lui.
10 he has arisen, and strikes among the Philistines until his hand has been weary, and his hand cleaves to the sword, and YHWH works a great salvation on that day, and the people turn back after him only to strip off.
Ông xông vào chém giết người Phi-li-tin cho đến khi tay rã rời, dính chặt vào cán gươm, và Chúa Hằng Hữu cho ông chiến thắng vẻ vang. Người Ít-ra-ên quay lại theo sau ông, nhưng chỉ để thu chiến lợi phẩm!
11 And after him [is] Shammah son of Agee the Hararite, and the Philistines are gathered into a company, and there is a portion of the field full of lentils there, and the people have fled from the presence of the Philistines,
Người thứ ba là Sa-ma, con Hà-ghi, người Ha-ra. Khi quân Phi-li-tin lũ lượt kéo đến Lô-hi, tại một cánh đồng trồng đậu lăng, quân ông bỏ chạy.
12 and he stations himself in the midst of the portion, and delivers it, and strikes the Philistines, and YHWH works a great salvation.
Ông đứng giữa đồng đơn thân cự địch, giết vô số người Phi-li-tin. Và Chúa Hằng Hữu cho ông đại thắng.
13 And three of the thirty heads go down and come to the harvest, to David, to the cave of Adullam, and the company of the Philistines are encamping in the Valley of Rephaim,
Ba người này (cũng thuộc nhóm ba mươi dũng tướng) đã đến hang đá A-đu-lam theo Đa-vít vào mùa gặt. Lúc ấy quân Phi-li-tin đang đóng quân tại thung lũng Rê-pha-im.
14 and David [is] then in a fortress, and the station of the Philistines [is] then in Beth-Lehem,
Còn Đa-vít ở trong đồn, vì quân Phi-li-tin vừa chiếm đóng Bết-lê-hem.
15 and David longs and says, “Who gives me a drink of the water of the well of Beth-Lehem, which [is] by the gate?”
Đa-vít ước ao rằng: “Ôi, ước gì ta uống được nước giếng bên cổng Bết-lê-hem.”
16 And the three mighty ones cleave through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water out of the well of Beth-Lehem, which [is] by the gate, and take [it] up, and bring [it] to David; and he was not willing to drink it, and pours it out to YHWH,
Vậy, nhóm Bộ Ba băng đồn Phi-li-tin, múc nước giếng bên cổng thành Bết-lê-hem đem về cho Đa-vít. Nhưng ông không chịu uống, ông đổ nước ra dâng lên Chúa Hằng Hữu.
17 and says, “Far be it from me, O YHWH, to do this; is it the blood of the men who are going with their lives?” And he was not willing to drink it; the three mighty ones did these [things].
Ông nói: “Chúa Hằng Hữu ơi! Tôi không uống được, vì nước đây khác nào máu của những người đã liều mạng đến nơi đó múc về.”
18 And Abishai brother of Joab, son of Zeruiah, he [is] head of three, and he is lifting up his spear against three hundred—wounded, and he has a name among three.
Cũng có A-bi-sai, em Giô-áp, con Xê-ru-gia, là người chỉ huy Nhóm Ba Mươi dũng tướng. Có lần ông múa thương cự 300 địch một lúc, cuối cùng ông giết hết những người đó. Vì thế A-bi-sai tạo được thanh thế ngang với Nhóm Tam Hùng.
19 Is he not the honored of the three? And he becomes their head; and he has not come to the [first] three.
Tuy A-bi-sai được trọng vọng hơn ba vị anh hùng và chỉ huy họ, nhưng vẫn không có chân trong Nhóm Tam Hùng.
20 And Benaiah son of Jehoiada (son of a man of valor, great in deeds from Kabzeel), has struck two lion-like men of Moab, and he has gone down and struck the lion in the midst of the pit in a day of snow.
Ngoài ra còn có Bê-na-gia, con của Giê-hô-gia-đa, ở Cáp-xê-ên là một dũng sĩ đã tạo được nhiều thành tích oanh liệt. Ông giết hai người Mô-áp có sức mạnh như sư tử. Một hôm khác, khi tuyết đang rơi, ông xuống một cái hầm gặp sư tử liền giết đi.
21 And he has struck the Egyptian man, a man of appearance, and a spear [is] in the hand of the Egyptian, and he goes down to him with a rod, and takes the spear violently away out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slays him with his own spear.
Một hôm khác nữa, trong tay chỉ có một cây gậy, Bê-na-gia đấu với một người Ai Cập khổng lồ, trang bị bằng một cây thương. Ông giật thương khỏi tay người Ai Cập, giết địch bằng khí giới của nó.
22 Benaiah son of Jehoiada has done these [things], and has a name among the three mighty ones.
Những thành tích này làm cho tên tuổi Bê-na-gia chẳng kém gì Nhóm Tam Hùng.
23 He is honored more than the thirty, but he did not come to the three; and David sets him over his guard.
Ông được trọng vọng trong Nhóm Ba Mươi dũng tướng, nhưng không được vào Nhóm Tam Hùng. Đa-vít cử ông chỉ huy đoàn vệ binh.
24 Asahel brother of Joab [is] of the thirty; Elhanan son of Dodo of Beth-Lehem,
Trong Nhóm Ba Mươi dũng tướng gồm có: A-sa-ên, em Giô-áp; Ên-ha-nan, con Đô-đô, ở Bết-lê-hem;
25 Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
Sa-ma và Hê-li-ca đều ở Ha-rốt;
26 Helez the Paltite, Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
Hê-lết ở Phan-ti; Y-ra, con Y-ke, ở Thê-cô-a;
27 Abiezer the Annethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,
A-bi-ê-xe ở A-na-tốt; Mê-bu-nai ở Hu-sa;
28 Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
Sanh-môn ở A-hô-hi; Ma-ha-rai ở Nê-tô-pha-tít;
29 Heleb son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai son of Ribai from Gibeah of the sons of Benjamin,
Hê-lép, con Ba-a-na, ở Nê-tô-pha; Y-tai, con Ri-bai, ở Ghi-bê-a thuộc Bên-gia-min;
30 Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,
Bê-na-gia ở Phi-ra-thôn; Hi-đai ở suối Ga-ách;
31 Abi-Albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,
A-bi-anh-bôn ở A-ra-ba; Ách-ma-vết ở Ba-hu-rim;
32 Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,
Ê-li-a-ba ở Sa-anh-bôn; các con trai Gia-sen, Giô-na-than;
33 Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam son of Sharar the Hararite,
Sa-ma và A-hi-am, con Sa-ra, đều ở Ha-ra;
34 Eliphelet son of Ahasbai, son of the Maachathite, Eliam son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
Ê-li-phê-lết, con A-ha-bai, ở Ma-a-ca; Ê-li-am, con A-hi-tô-phe ở Ghi-lô;
35 Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,
Hết-rai ở Cát-mên; Pha-rai ở A-ráp;
36 Igal son of Nathan from Zobah, Bani the Gadite,
Y-ganh, con Na-than ở Xô-ba; Ba-ni ở Gát;
37 Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, bearer of the weapons of Joab son of Zeruiah,
Xê-lác ở Am-môn; Na-ha-rai ở Bê-ê-rốt, là người mang khí giới cho Giô-áp;
38 Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,
Y-ra và Ga-rép đều ở Ích-rơ;
39 Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.
U-ri người Hê-tít. Tổng cộng có ba mươi bảy chiến sĩ anh dũng.
