2 Samuel 20
1 And there happened to be a man of worthlessness there, and his name [is] Sheba, son of Bichri, a Benjamite, and he blows with a horn and says, “We have no portion in David, and we have no inheritance in the son of Jesse; each [goes] to his tents, O Israel.”
૧પછી એવું બન્યું કે, બિન્યામીની બિખ્રીનો શેબા નામે દીકરો, જે બલિયાલનો માણસ હતો તે ત્યાં હતો, તેણે દાઉદ સામે રણશિંગડું ફૂંકીને કહ્યું, “દાઉદ સાથે અમારે કોઈ સંબંધ નથી કે યિશાઈના દીકરા સાથે અમારો કોઈ લાગભાગ નથી. આ ઇઝરાયલના સર્વ માણસો તમે તમારા તંબુઓમાં જાઓ!”
2 And every man of Israel goes up from after David, after Sheba son of Bichri, and the men of Judah have cleaved to their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.
૨તેથી ઇઝરાયલના બધા માણસો દાઉદને છોડીને બિખ્રીના દીકરા શેબાની પાછળ ગયા. પણ યહૂદિયાના માણસો યર્દનથી યરુશાલેમ સુધી રાજાની સાથે રહ્યા.
3 And David comes to his house at Jerusalem. And the king takes the ten women-concubines whom he had left to keep the house, and puts them in a house of ward and sustains them, and he has not gone in to them, and they are shut up to the day of their death, living in widowhood.
૩જયારે દાઉદ યરુશાલેમમાં તેના મહેલમાં આવ્યો, ત્યારે તેણે દસ ઉપપત્નીઓ જેઓને મહેલની સંભાળ રાખવા રહેવા દીધી હતી તેઓની મુલાકાત લીધી. રાજાએ તેઓની જરૂરીયાતો પૂરી કરી પણ તેમની સાથે દાંપત્ય વ્યવહાર રાખ્યો નહિ. તેથી તેઓ તેઓના મૃત્યુ પર્યંત સુધી પતિ હોવા છતાં વિધવાની જેમ મહેલમાં રહેવું પડ્યું.
4 And the king says to Amasa, “Call the men of Judah for me [within] three days, and you, stand here,”
૪પછી રાજાએ અમાસાને કહ્યું, “યહૂદિયાના માણસોને ત્રણ દિવસમાં મારી સામે ભેગા કર, તારે પણ અહીં મારી સામે હાજર રહેવું.”
5 and Amasa goes to call Judah, and tarries beyond the appointed time that he had appointed him;
૫તેથી અમાસા યહૂદિયાના માણસોને એકત્ર કરવા ગયો, પણ પાછા આવીને મળવા માટે જે સમય રાજાએ ઠરાવ્યો હતો તેના કરતા તેને વધારે સમય લાગ્યો.
6 and David says to Abishai, “Now Sheba son of Bichri does evil to us more than Absalom; you, take the servants of your lord, and pursue after him, lest he has found fortified cities for himself, and delivered himself [from] our eye.”
૬તેથી દાઉદે અબિશાયને કહ્યું, “હવે બિખ્રીનો દીકરો શેબા આપણને આબ્શાલોમ કરતા વધારે નુકસાન પહોંચાડશે. તારા માલિકના ચાકરો, મારા સૈનિકોને લઈને તેનો પીછો કર, નહિ તો તે કિલ્લેબંધીવાળાં નગરોમાં પહોંચી જશે અને આપણી દ્રષ્ટિમાંથી તે છટકી જશે.”
7 And the men of Joab go out after him, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and all the mighty men, and they go out from Jerusalem to pursue after Sheba son of Bichri;
૭પછી યોઆબના માણસો, રાજાના બધા યોદ્ધાઓ, કરેથીઓ અને પલેથીઓ તેની પાછળ ગયા. તેઓ અબિશાયની સાથે બિખ્રીના દીકરા શેબાનો પીછો કરવા સારુ યરુશાલેમથી બહાર નીકળ્યા.
8 they [are] near the great stone that [is] in Gibeon, and Amasa has gone before them, and Joab [is] girded; he has put his long robe on him, and on it a girdle—a sword [is] fastened on his loins in its sheath; and he has gone out, and it falls.
૮જયારે તેઓ ગિબ્યોનમાં મોટા ખડક આગળ પહોંચ્યા ત્યારે અમાસા તેમને મળવા આવ્યો. યોઆબે બખતર પહેરેલું હતું, કમરે કમરબંધ બાંધેલો હતો અને તલવાર તેના મ્યાનમાં હતી. તે ચાલતો હતો ત્યારે તેની તલવાર બહાર નીકળી આવી હતી.
9 And Joab says to Amasa, “Are you [in] peace, my brother?” And the right hand of Joab lays hold on the beard of Amasa to give a kiss to him;
૯તેથી યોઆબે અમાસાને કહ્યું, “મારા ભાઈ, શું તું ઠીક તો છે ને?” યોઆબે અમાસાને ચુંબન કરવા માટે તેનો જમણો હાથ લંબાવી તેની દાઢી પકડી.
10 and Amasa has not been watchful of the sword that [is] in the hand of Joab, and he strikes him with it to the fifth [rib], and sheds out his bowels to the earth, and he has not repeated [it] to him, and he dies; and Joab and his brother Abishai have pursued after Sheba son of Bichri.
૧૦પણ યોઆબના હાથમાં તલવાર હતી તે વિષે અમાસાએ ધ્યાન ન આપ્યું. યોઆબે તેના પેટમાં તલવારથી ઘા કર્યો એટલે તેનાં આંતરડા બહાર આવી જમીન પર પડ્યાં, યોઆબે બીજો ઘા કર્યો નહિ કારણ કે અમાસા મરણ પામ્યો હતો. પછી યોઆબ અને તેના ભાઈ અબિશાય બિખ્રીના દીકરા શેબાની પાછળ પડયા.
11 And a man has stood by him, of the young men of Joab, and says, “He who has delight in Joab, and he who [is] for David—after Joab!”
૧૧યોઆબના માણસોમાંના એકે અમાસા પાસે ઊભા રહીને કહ્યું, “જે યોઆબનો પક્ષનો હોય અને જે દાઉદનો પક્ષનો હોય, તે યોઆબને અનુસરે.”
12 And Amasa is rolling himself in blood, in the midst of the highway, and the man sees that all the people have stood still, and he brings around Amasa out of the highway to the field, and casts a garment over him when he has seen that everyone who has come by him has stood still.
૧૨અમાસા માર્ગની વચ્ચે લોહીથી અંદર તરબોળ થઈને પડેલો હતો. જયારે તે માણસે જોયું કે સર્વ લોકો હજુ પણ ઊભા છે ત્યારે તે અમાસાને માર્ગમાંથી ઊંચકીને ખેતરમાં લઈ ગયો. તેણે તેના પર વસ્ત્ર ઓઢાડ્યું. કેમ કે તેણે જોયું કે લોકો હજુ સુધી ત્યાં ઊભા હતા.
13 When he has been removed out of the highway, every man has passed on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba son of Bichri.
૧૩અમાસાને રસ્તા ઉપરથી લઈ લેવામાં આવ્યા પછી બધા લોકો યોઆબની પાછળ બિખ્રીના દીકરા શેબાનો પીછો કરવા ગયા.
14 And he passes over through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, and to Beth-Maachah, and to all the Berites, and they are assembled, and also go in after him,
૧૪શેબા ઇઝરાયલનાં બધા કુળો પાસે થઈને રસ્તામાં આવતા આબેલ, બેથ-માકામાં તથા બરિયાઓમાં ફર્યો, તેઓ એકસાથે ભેગા થઈને શેબાને અનુસર્યા.
15 and they go in and lay siege against him, in Abel of Beth-Maachah, and cast up a mound against the city, and it stands in a trench, and all the people who are [are] with Joab are destroying, to cause the wall to fall.
૧૫યોઆબના લોકોએ આવીને આબેલ-બેથ-માઅખાહમાં તેને ઘેરીને પકડી લીધો. તેઓએ નગરની દિવાલની સામે માટીનો ઢગલો ઊભો કર્યો. સૈન્યના સર્વ લોકો જે યોઆબની સાથે હતા નગરના કોટને તોડી પાડવા માટે તેના પર મારો ચલાવ્યો.
16 And a wise woman calls out of the city, “Hear! Hear! Please say to Joab, Come near here, and I speak to you.”
૧૬પછી નગરની દિવાલને તોડવાનું શરૂ કર્યું ત્યારે એક જ્ઞાની સ્ત્રીએ બૂમ પાડીને કહ્યું, “સાંભળો, કૃપા કરી સાંભળો! યોઆબને કહે કે તે અહીં મારી પાસે આવો કે જેથી હું તેની સાથે વાત કરું.”
17 And he comes near to her, and the woman says, “Are you Joab?” And he says, “I [am].” And she says to him, “Hear the words of your handmaid”; and he says, “I am hearing.”
૧૭તેથી યોઆબ તેની પાસે આવ્યો અને તે સ્ત્રીએ તેને પૂછ્યું, “શું તું યોઆબ છે?” તેણે જવાબ આપ્યો, “હું તે છું.” ત્યારે તે સ્ત્રીએ તેને કહ્યું, “તારી દાસી એટલે મને સાંભળ.” તેણે જવાબ આપ્યો, “હું સાંભળું છું.”
18 And she speaks, saying, “They spoke often in former times, saying, Let them diligently inquire at Abel, and so they finished.
૧૮પછી તેણે કહ્યું, “પ્રાચીન કાળમાં લોકો એમ કહેતા હતા, ‘લોકો આબેલમાં નિશ્ચે સલાહ પૂછશે,’ તેની સલાહથી તેમની વાતનો અંત આવતો હશે.
19 I [am] of the peaceable, faithful ones of Israel; you are seeking to destroy a city and mother in Israel; why do you swallow up the inheritance of YHWH?”
૧૯જેઓ ઇઝરાયલમાં વિશ્વાસુ અને શાંતિપ્રિય છે તેવા માણસોમાંની હું પણ એક છું. તું ઇઝરાયલના એક નગરનો અને માતાનો નાશ કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરી રહ્યો છે. શા માટે તું ઈશ્વરના વારસાને ગળી જવા ઇચ્છે છે?”
20 And Joab answers and says, “Far be it—far be it from me; I do not swallow up nor destroy.
૨૦તેથી યોઆબે જવાબ આપ્યો કે, “હું ગળી જાઉં કે નાશ કરું, “એવું મારાથી દૂર થાઓ.
21 The matter [is] not so; for a man of the hill-country of Ephraim—Sheba son of Bichri [is] his name—has lifted up his hand against the king, against David; give him up by himself, and I go away from the city.” And the woman says to Joab, “Behold, his head is cast to you over the wall.”
૨૧તે સાચું નથી. પણ એફ્રાઇમના પહાડી પ્રદેશનો એક માણસ એટલે બિખ્રીનો દીકરો શેબા, તેણે પોતાનો હાથ રાજા એટલે કે દાઉદ રાજા સામે ઉઠાવ્યો છે. તેને મારી આગળ સ્વાધીન કરી દે અને હું નગર છોડીને ચાલ્યો જઈશ.” તે સ્ત્રીએ યોઆબને કહ્યું, “જો એમ હોય તો તેનું માથું કોટ ઉપરથી તારા તરફ ફેંકી દેવામાં આવશે.”
22 And the woman comes to all the people in her wisdom, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bichri, and cast [it] to Joab, and he blows with a horn, and they are scattered from the city, each [goes] to his tents, and Joab has turned back to Jerusalem to the king.
૨૨પછી તે સ્ત્રી પોતાની હોશિયારી વાપરીને સર્વ લોકો પાસે ગઈ. લોકોએ બિખ્રીનો દીકરો શેબાનું માથું કાપી નાખ્યું એટલે કોટ પરથી યોઆબ તરફ ફેંકયું. પછી તેણે રણશિંગડું વગાડ્યું અને યોઆબના માણસો નગર છોડીને પોતપોતના તંબુએ ગયા. અને યોઆબ રાજા પાસે પાછો યરુશાલેમમાં આવ્યો.
23 And Joab [is] over all the host of Israel, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada [is] over the Cherethite, and over the Pelethite,
૨૩હવે યોઆબ ઇઝરાયલના સૈન્યનો સેનાપતિ હતો, યહોયાદાનો દીકરો બનાયા કરેથીઓનો તથા પલેથીઓનો ઉપરી હતો.
24 and Adoram [is] over the tribute, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] the remembrancer,
૨૪અદોરામ વસૂલાતખાતા પર હતો અને અહીલૂદનો દીકરો યહોશાફાટ ઇતિહાસકાર હતો.
25 and Sheva [is] scribe, and Zadok and Abiathar [are] priests,
૨૫શવા શાસ્ત્રી હતો અને સાદોક તથા અબ્યાથાર યાજકો હતા.
26 and also, Ira the Jairite has been minister to David.
૨૬ઈરા યાઈરી દાઉદનો મુખ્ય વહીવટી સેવક હતો.
