2 Peter 3
1 This [is] now, beloved, a second letter I write to you, in both which I stir up your pure mind in reminding [you]
Amados, ésta es la segunda epístola que les escribo. En ambas les recuerdo que despierten su sincero entendimiento,
2 to be mindful of the sayings said before by the holy prophets, and of the command of us the apostles of the LORD and Savior,
para que se acuerden de las palabras que fueron predichas por los santos profetas, y del Mandamiento del Señor y Salvador [proclamado] por sus apóstoles.
3 knowing this first, that there will come scoffers in the last days, going on according to their own desires,
Sepan primero que en los últimos días aparecerán burladores que seguirán sus deseos apasionados,
4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things so remain from the beginning of the creation”;
y dirán: ¿Dónde está la promesa de su venida? Porque desde cuando los antepasados durmieron, todas las cosas permanecen como desde [el] principio de [la] creación.
5 for this they willingly conceal, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth having been established by the word of God out of water and through water,
Porque voluntariamente ignoran que [los ]cielos y la tierra, la cual proviene del agua y subsiste por medio de agua, en el tiempo antiguo fueron hechos por la Palabra de Dios.
6 through which the world then, having been flooded by water, was destroyed;
Por lo cual el mundo de entonces pereció inundado por agua.
7 and by the same word, the present heavens and earth, having been stored up for fire, are being preserved until [the] day of judgment and destruction of impious men.
Los cielos y la tierra de ahora están reservados para [el ]fuego por la misma Palabra, guardados para [el ]día del juicio y de la destrucción de los hombres impíos.
8 And do not let this one thing be concealed from you, beloved, that one day with the LORD [is] as one thousand years and one thousand years as one day;
Amados, no ignoren ustedes que para [el] Señor un día es como 1.000 años, y 1.000 años como un día.
9 the LORD is not slow in regard to the promise, as some count slowness, but is long-suffering to us, not intending any to be lost, but all to come to conversion,
[El] Señor no retarda lo que prometió, como algunos lo tienen por tardanza, sino es longánime hacia ustedes. No quiere que algunos se pierdan, sino que todos cambien de mente.
10 and it will come—the Day of the LORD—as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a rushing noise, and the elements will be dissolved with burning heat, and [the] earth and the works in it will not be found.
Pero [el] día del Señor vendrá como ladrón, en el cual los cielos desaparecerán con un gran estruendo, los elementos serán destruidos con el intenso calor, y [la] tierra y las obras [que hay] en ella serán quemadas.
11 All these, then, being dissolved, what kind of persons ought you to be in holy behaviors and pious acts,
Puesto que todas estas cosas serán destruidas, ¿qué clase de personas debemos ser en conducta santa y manera piadosa de vivir?
12 waiting for and hurrying the coming of the Day of God, by which the heavens, being on fire, will be dissolved, and the elements will melt with burning heat?
Esperamos y anhelamos intensamente la venida del día de Dios en el cual los cielos serán derretidos al ser incendiados, y [los] elementos serán fundidos con intenso calor.
13 And we wait for new heavens and a new earth according to His promise, in which righteousness dwells;
Pero, según su promesa, esperamos nuevos cielos y nueva tierra en los cuales mora [la ]justicia.
14 for this reason, beloved, waiting for these things, be diligent, spotless and unblameable, to be found by Him in peace,
Por lo cual, amados, mientras esperan estas cosas, procuren ser hallados por Él en paz, irreprensibles y sin mancha.
15 and count the long-suffering of our Lord [as] salvation, according as also our beloved brother Paul—according to the wisdom given to him—wrote to you,
Consideren que la longanimidad de nuestro Señor es para salvación, como nuestro amado hermano Pablo les escribió, según la sabiduría que le fue dada.
16 as also in all the letters, speaking in them concerning these things, among which are some things [that are] hard to be understood, which the untaught and unstable twist, as also the other Writings, to their own destruction.
En todas [sus] epístolas habla acerca de estas mismas cosas. Entre ellas hay algunas difíciles de entender. Los ignorantes e inestables las tuercen, como también [tuercen] las otras Escrituras para su propia destrucción.
17 You, then, beloved, knowing before, take heed, lest, together with the error of the impious being led away, you may fall from your own steadfastness,
Por tanto, ustedes amados, puesto que saben con anticipación, guárdense, no sea que después de ser arrastrados por el error de los inicuos, caigan de su propia firmeza.
18 and increase in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; to Him [is] the glory both now, and to the day of the age! Amen. (aiōn g165)
Crezcan en gracia y conocimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. A Él sea la gloria tanto ahora como en [el] día de [la] eternidad. (aiōn g165)
