< 2 Kings 8 >
1 And Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had revived, saying, “Rise and go, you and your household, and sojourn where you sojourn, for YHWH has called for a famine, and also, it is coming to the land [for] seven years.”
Na rĩrĩ, Elisha akĩĩra mũtumia ũrĩa aariũkĩirie mwana atĩrĩ, “Thiĩ hamwe na andũ a nyũmba yaku mũgaikare kwa ihinda kũrĩa mũngĩhota gũikara, tondũ Jehova nĩatuĩte kũgĩe ngʼaragu bũrũri-inĩ ũyũ, ĩrĩa ĩkũniina mĩaka mũgwanja.”
2 And the woman rises, and does according to the word of the man of God, and goes, she and her household, and sojourns in the land of the Philistines [for] seven years.
Nake mũtumia ũcio agĩĩka o ta ũrĩa mũndũ wa Ngai oigĩte. We mwene na andũ a nyũmba yake magĩthiĩ na magĩikara bũrũri wa Afilisti mĩaka mũgwanja.
3 And it comes to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman turns back from the land of the Philistines, and goes out to cry to the king for her house and for her field.
Na rĩrĩ, mĩaka mũgwanja yathira-rĩ, akiuma bũrũri wa Afilisti, agĩthiĩ kũrĩ mũthamaki kũmũthaitha nĩ ũndũ wa nyũmba na gĩthaka gĩake.
4 And the king is speaking to Gehazi, servant of the man of God, saying, “Please recount to me the whole of the great things that Elisha has done.”
Mũthamaki aaragia na Gehazi, ndungata ya mũndũ wa Ngai, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ta njĩĩra maũndũ mothe manene marĩa Elisha aaneka.”
5 And it comes to pass, he is recounting to the king how he had revived the dead, and behold, the woman whose son he had revived is crying to the king for her house and for her field, and Gehazi says, “My lord, O king, this [is] the woman, and this [is] her son, whom Elisha revived.”

6 And the king inquires of the woman, and she recounts to him, and the king appoints a certain eunuch to her, saying, “Give back all that she has, and all the increase of the field from the day of her leaving the land even until now.”

7 And Elisha comes to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram is sick, and it is declared to him, saying, “The man of God has come here.”
Na rĩrĩ, Elisha agĩthiĩ Dameski, nake Beni-Hadadi mũthamaki wa Suriata aarĩ mũrũaru. Rĩrĩa mũthamaki eerirwo atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ wa Ngai nĩokĩte nginya gũkũ,”
8 And the king says to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go to meet the man of God, and you have sought YHWH by him, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?”
akĩĩra Hazaeli atĩrĩ, “Oya kĩheo, ũthiĩ ũtũnge mũndũ wa Ngai. Tuĩria ũhoro harĩ Jehova na ũndũ wake; mũũrie atĩrĩ, ‘Niĩ nĩngũhona ndwari ĩno?’”
9 And Hazael goes to meet him, and takes a present in his hand, even of every good thing of Damascus, a burden of forty camels, and he comes in and stands before him, and says, “Your son Ben-Hadad, king of Aram, has sent me to you, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?”
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Hazaeli agĩthiĩ gũtũnga Elisha, akuuĩte kĩheo kĩa indo iria njega cia Dameski, ikuuĩtwo nĩ ngamĩĩra mĩrongo ĩna. Hazaeli agĩthiĩ, akĩrũgama mbere ya Elisha, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũrũguo Beni-Hadadi mũthamaki wa Suriata nĩwe wandũma ngũũrie atĩrĩ, ‘Niĩ nĩngũhona ndwari ĩno?’”
10 And Elisha says to him, “Go, say, You certainly do not revive, seeing [that] YHWH has showed me that he surely dies.”
Nake Elisha agĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Thiĩ ũmwĩre atĩrĩ, ‘Ti-itherũ nĩũkũhona’; no Jehova nĩanguũrĩirie atĩ no egũkua.”
11 And he sets his face, indeed, he sets [it] until he is ashamed, and the man of God weeps.
Elisha akĩmũkũũrĩra maitho amũrorete nginya Hazaeli agĩconoka. Nake mũndũ wa Ngai akĩambĩrĩria kũrĩra.
12 And Hazael says, “Why is my lord weeping?” And he says, “Because I have known the evil that you do to the sons of Israel—you send their fortifications into fire, and you slay their young men with sword, and you dash their sucklings to pieces, and you rip up their pregnant women.”
Nake Hazaeli akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ kĩratũma mwathi wakwa arĩre?” Nake agĩcookia atĩrĩ, “Nĩ ũndũ nĩnjũũĩ ũũru ũrĩa ũkaarehere andũ a Isiraeli. Nĩũgacina ciĩgitĩro ciao iria nũmu, na ũũrage aanake ao na rũhiũ rwa njora, ũtungumanie twana twao thĩ, na ũtarũre nda cia andũ-a-nja arĩa marĩ nda.”
13 And Hazael says, “But what [is] your servant—the dog, that he does this great thing?” And Elisha says, “YHWH has showed me you—king of Aram.”
Nake Hazaeli akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Ndungata ĩno yaku ĩtariĩ ta ngui-rĩ, yahota atĩa gwĩka ũndũ mũnene ũguo?” Nake Elisha akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Jehova nĩanyonetie atĩ nĩũgatuĩka mũthamaki wa Suriata.”
14 And he goes from Elisha, and comes to his lord, and he says to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” And he says, “He said to me, You certainly recover.”
Ningĩ Hazaeli agĩtigana na Elisha agĩcooka kũrĩ mwathi wake. Rĩrĩa Beni-Hadadi aamũũririe atĩrĩ, “Elisha akwĩrire atĩa?” Hazaeli akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Anjĩĩrire ti-itherũ nĩũkũhona.”
15 And it comes to pass on the next day, that he takes the coarse cloth, and dips [it] in water, and spreads [it] on his face, and he dies, and Hazael reigns in his stead.
No mũthenya ũyũ ũngĩ Hazaeli akĩoya taama mũritũ, akĩũtobokia maaĩ-inĩ, akĩhumbĩra mũthamaki ũthiũ naguo, o nginya agĩkua. Nake Hazaeli agĩthamaka ithenya rĩake.
16 And in the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel—and Jehoshaphat [is] king of Judah—Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, has reigned;
Mwaka-inĩ wa ĩtano wa wathani wa Joramu mũrũ wa Ahabu mũthamaki wa Isiraeli-rĩ, Jehoramu mũrũ wa Jehoshafatu akĩambĩrĩria gũthamaka Juda.
17 he was a son of thirty-two years in his reigning, and he has reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
Jehoramu aarĩ na ũkũrũ wa mĩaka mĩrongo ĩtatũ na ĩĩrĩ rĩrĩa aatuĩkire mũthamaki, na agĩthamaka arĩ Jerusalemu mĩaka ĩnana.
18 And he walks in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab did, for a daughter of Ahab was to him for a wife, and he does evil in the eyes of YHWH,
Nĩathiire na mĩthiĩre ya athamaki a Isiraeli, o ta ũrĩa nyũmba ya Ahabu yekĩte, nĩgũkorwo aahikirie mwarĩ wa Ahabu. Nĩekire maũndũ mooru maitho-inĩ ma Jehova.
19 and YHWH was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of His servant David, as He said to him, to give a lamp to him—to his sons [for] all the days.
No rĩrĩ, nĩ ũndũ wa ndungata yake Daudi, Jehova ndeendaga kwananga Juda. Nĩeranĩire atĩ nĩegũtũũria tawa nĩ ũndũ wa Daudi na njiaro ciake nginya tene.
20 In his days Edom has revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they cause a king to reign over them,
Mahinda ma Jehoramu-rĩ, andũ a Edomu nĩmaremeire Juda na makĩgĩa na mũthamaki wao ene.
21 and Joram passes over to Zair, and all the chariots with him, and he himself has risen by night, and strikes Edom that is coming around to him, and the heads of the chariots, and the people flee to their tents;
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jehoramu agĩthiĩ Zairu hamwe na ngaari ciake ciothe cia ita. Andũ a Edomu makĩmũrigiicĩria hamwe na anene a ngaari ciake cia ita, no agĩũkĩra na akĩũra ũtukũ; narĩo ita rĩake, o na kũrĩ o ũguo, rĩkĩũra rĩgĩcooka mũciĩ.
22 and Edom revolts from under the hand of Judah until this day; then Libnah revolts at that time.
Nginyagia ũmũthĩ andũ a Edomu matũũraga maremeire Juda. Andũ a Libina o nao makĩrega watho wa Juda o ihinda-inĩ rĩu.
23 And the rest of the matters of Joram and all that he did, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
Maũndũ marĩa mangĩ makoniĩ wathani wa Jehoramu, na marĩa mothe eekire, githĩ matiandĩkĩtwo ibuku-inĩ rĩa maũndũ ma mahinda ma athamaki a Juda?
24 And Joram lies with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the City of David, and his son Ahaziah reigns in his stead.
Nake Jehoramu akĩhurũka hamwe na maithe make na agĩthikwo hamwe nao itũũra-inĩ rĩa Daudi. Nake mũriũ Ahazia agĩtuĩka mũthamaki ithenya rĩake.
25 In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, has reigned;
Mwaka-inĩ wa ikũmi na ĩĩrĩ wa wathani wa Joramu mũrũ wa Ahabu mũthamaki wa Isiraeli-rĩ, Ahazia mũrũ wa Jehoramu mũthamaki wa Juda nĩguo ambĩrĩirie gũthamaka.
26 Ahaziah [is] a son of twenty-two years in his reigning, and he has reigned one year in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Athaliah daughter of Omri, king of Israel,
Ahazia aarĩ na ũkũrũ wa mĩaka mĩrongo ĩĩrĩ na ĩĩrĩ rĩrĩa aatuĩkire mũthamaki, na agĩthamaka arĩ Jerusalemu mwaka ũmwe. Nyina eetagwo Athalia, mwarĩ wa mwana wa Omuri mũthamaki wa Isiraeli.
27 and he walks in the way of the house of Ahab, and does evil in the eyes of YHWH, like the house of Ahab, for he [is] son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
Nake Ahazia agĩthiĩ na mĩthiĩre ya nyũmba ya Ahabu, na agĩĩka ũũru maitho-inĩ ma Jehova o ta ũrĩa nyũmba ya Ahabu yekĩte, nĩgũkorwo nĩmatarainie na nyũmba ya Ahabu nĩ ũndũ wa kũhikania kuo.
28 And he goes with Joram son of Ahab to battle with Hazael king of Aram in Ramoth-Gilead, and the Arameans strike Joram,
Ahazia nĩmathiire na Joramu mũrũ wa Ahabu nĩguo makarũe na Hazaeli mũthamaki wa Suriata kũu Ramothu-Gileadi. Nao Asuriata makĩguraria Joramu;
29 and Joram the king turns back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds with which the Arameans strike him in Ramah, in his fighting with Hazael king of Aram, and Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, has gone down to see Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, for he is sick.
