2 Kings 8
1 And Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had revived, saying, “Rise and go, you and your household, and sojourn where you sojourn, for YHWH has called for a famine, and also, it is coming to the land [for] seven years.”
Or Elisée avait parlé à la femme au fils de laquelle il avait rendu la vie, en disant: Lève-toi, et t'en va, toi et ta famille, et fais ton séjour où tu pourras; car l'Eternel a appelé la famine, et même elle vient sur le pays pour y demeurer sept ans.
2 And the woman rises, and does according to the word of the man of God, and goes, she and her household, and sojourns in the land of the Philistines [for] seven years.
Cette femme-là donc s'étant levée avait fait selon la parole de l'homme de Dieu, et s'en était allée, elle et sa famille, et avait demeuré sept ans au pays des Philistins.
3 And it comes to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman turns back from the land of the Philistines, and goes out to cry to the king for her house and for her field.
Mais il arriva qu'au bout des sept ans cette femme-là s'en retourna du pays des Philistins, puis elle s'en alla pour faire requête au Roi touchant sa maison, et ses champs.
4 And the king is speaking to Gehazi, servant of the man of God, saying, “Please recount to me the whole of the great things that Elisha has done.”
Alors le Roi parlait à Guéhazi serviteur de l'homme de Dieu, en disant: Je te prie récite-moi toutes les grandes choses qu'Elisée a faites.
5 And it comes to pass, he is recounting to the king how he had revived the dead, and behold, the woman whose son he had revived is crying to the king for her house and for her field, and Gehazi says, “My lord, O king, this [is] the woman, and this [is] her son, whom Elisha revived.”
Et il arriva que lorsqu'il récitait au Roi comment [Elisée] avait rendu la vie à un mort, voici, la femme, au fils de laquelle il avait rendu la vie, vint faire requête au Roi touchant sa maison, et ses champs. Et Guéhazi dit: Ô Roi mon Seigneur! c'est ici la femme, et c'est ici son fils, à qui Elisée a rendu la vie.
6 And the king inquires of the woman, and she recounts to him, and the king appoints a certain eunuch to her, saying, “Give back all that she has, and all the increase of the field from the day of her leaving the land even until now.”
Alors le Roi interrogea la femme; et elle lui raconta [ce qui s'était passé]. Et le Roi lui donna un Eunuque, auquel il dit: Fais lui r'avoir tout ce qui lui appartenait, même tous les revenus de ses champs depuis le temps qu'elle a quitté le pays jusqu'à maintenant.
7 And Elisha comes to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram is sick, and it is declared to him, saying, “The man of God has come here.”
Or Elisée alla à Damas, et alors Ben-hadad Roi de Syrie était malade, et on lui rapporta, et on lui dit: L'homme de Dieu est venu ici.
8 And the king says to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go to meet the man of God, and you have sought YHWH by him, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?”
Et le Roi dit à Hazaël: Prends quelque présent avec toi, et t'en va au devant de l'homme de Dieu, et par son moyen enquiers-toi de l'Eternel; en disant: Relèverai-je de cette maladie?
9 And Hazael goes to meet him, and takes a present in his hand, even of every good thing of Damascus, a burden of forty camels, and he comes in and stands before him, and says, “Your son Ben-Hadad, king of Aram, has sent me to you, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?”
Et Hazaël s'en alla au-devant de lui, ayant pris avec soi un présent, [savoir], quarante chameaux chargés de tout ce qu'il y avait de meilleur à Damas, et il vint, et se présenta devant lui, et dit: Ton fils Ben-hadad Roi de Syrie m'a envoyé vers toi, pour te dire: Relèverai-je de cette maladie?
10 And Elisha says to him, “Go, say, You certainly do not revive, seeing [that] YHWH has showed me that he surely dies.”
Et Elisée lui répondit: Va, [et] dis-lui: Certainement tu en pourrais relever; toutefois l'Eternel m'a montré que certainement il mourra.
11 And he sets his face, indeed, he sets [it] until he is ashamed, and the man of God weeps.
Et l'homme de Dieu arrêta sa vue [sur Hazaël], et se retint longtemps; puis l'homme de Dieu pleura.
12 And Hazael says, “Why is my lord weeping?” And he says, “Because I have known the evil that you do to the sons of Israel—you send their fortifications into fire, and you slay their young men with sword, and you dash their sucklings to pieces, and you rip up their pregnant women.”
Et Hazaël dit: Pourquoi pleure mon Seigneur? Et il répondit: Parce que je sais combien tu feras de mal aux enfants d'Israël; tu mettras le feu à leurs villes fortes, et tu tueras avec l'épée leurs jeunes gens, et tu écraseras leurs petits enfants, et tu fendras leurs femmes enceintes.
13 And Hazael says, “But what [is] your servant—the dog, that he does this great thing?” And Elisha says, “YHWH has showed me you—king of Aram.”
Et Hazaël dit: Mais qui est ton serviteur, qui n'est qu'un chien, pour faire de si grandes choses? Et Elisée répondit: L'Eternel m'a montré que tu seras Roi de Syrie.
14 And he goes from Elisha, and comes to his lord, and he says to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” And he says, “He said to me, You certainly recover.”
Ainsi [Hazaël] se retira d'avec Elisée, et revint vers son maître, qui lui demanda: Que t'a dit Elisée? Et il répondit: Il m'a dit, que certainement tu peux relever [de cette maladie].
15 And it comes to pass on the next day, that he takes the coarse cloth, and dips [it] in water, and spreads [it] on his face, and he dies, and Hazael reigns in his stead.
Mais il arriva que le lendemain [Hazaël] prit un drap épais, et l'ayant plongé dans l'eau, il l'étendit sur le visage de [Ben-hadad], dont il mourut; et Hazaël régna en sa place.
16 And in the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel—and Jehoshaphat [is] king of Judah—Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, has reigned;
r la cinquième année de Joram fils d'Achab Roi d'Israël, Josaphat étant Roi de Juda, Joram fils de Josaphat Roi de Juda, commença à régner sur Juda.
17 he was a son of thirty-two years in his reigning, and he has reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
Il était âgé de trente-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
18 And he walks in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab did, for a daughter of Ahab was to him for a wife, and he does evil in the eyes of YHWH,
Et il suivit le train des Rois d'Israël comme avait fait la maison d'Achab; car la fille d'Achab était sa femme, de sorte qu'il fit ce qui est déplaisant à l'Eternel.
19 and YHWH was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of His servant David, as He said to him, to give a lamp to him—to his sons [for] all the days.
Toutefois l'Eternel ne voulut point détruire Juda, pour l'amour de David son serviteur, selon ce qu'il lui avait dit, qu'il lui donnerait une lampe, à lui et à ses fils, à toujours.
20 In his days Edom has revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they cause a king to reign over them,
De son temps ceux d'Edom se révoltèrent de l'obéissance de Juda, et établirent un Roi sur eux.
21 and Joram passes over to Zair, and all the chariots with him, and he himself has risen by night, and strikes Edom that is coming around to him, and the heads of the chariots, and the people flee to their tents;
C'est pourquoi Joram passa à Tsahir avec tous ses chariots, et se leva de nuit, et frappa les Iduméens qui étaient autour de lui, et les Gouverneurs des chariots; mais le peuple s'enfuit dans ses tentes.
22 and Edom revolts from under the hand of Judah until this day; then Libnah revolts at that time.
Néanmoins les Iduméens se révoltèrent de l'obéissance de Juda, [et cela a duré] jusqu'à aujourd'hui. En ce même temps-là Libna aussi se révolta.
23 And the rest of the matters of Joram and all that he did, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
Le reste des faits de Joram, tout ce, dis-je, qu'il a fait, n'est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois de Juda?
24 And Joram lies with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the City of David, and his son Ahaziah reigns in his stead.
Et Joram s'endormit avec ses pères, et fut enseveli avec eux dans la Cité de David; et Achazia son fils régna en sa place.
25 In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, has reigned;
La douzième année de Joram fils d'Achab Roi d'Israël, Achazia fils de Joram Roi de Juda, commença à régner.
26 Ahaziah [is] a son of twenty-two years in his reigning, and he has reigned one year in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Athaliah daughter of Omri, king of Israel,
Achazia était âgé de vingt-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna un an à Jérusalem; sa mère avait nom Hathalia, [et était] fille de Homri Roi d'Israël.
27 and he walks in the way of the house of Ahab, and does evil in the eyes of YHWH, like the house of Ahab, for he [is] son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
Il suivit le train de la maison d'Achab, et fit ce qui déplaît à l'Eternel, comme avait fait la maison d'Achab; car il était gendre de la maison d'Achab.
28 And he goes with Joram son of Ahab to battle with Hazael king of Aram in Ramoth-Gilead, and the Arameans strike Joram,
Or il s'en alla avec Joram fils d'Achab à la guerre contre Hazaël Roi de Syrie, et Ramoth de Galaad, et les Syriens frappèrent Joram.
29 and Joram the king turns back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds with which the Arameans strike him in Ramah, in his fighting with Hazael king of Aram, and Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, has gone down to see Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, for he is sick.
Et le Roi Joram s'en retourna pour se faire panser à Jizréhel des plaies que les Syriens lui avaient faites à Rama, quand il combattit contre Hazaël Roi de Syrie, et Achazia fils de Joram, Roi de Juda, descendit pour voir Joram fils d'Achab à Jizréhel, parce qu'il était malade.
