2 Kings 8
1 And Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had revived, saying, “Rise and go, you and your household, and sojourn where you sojourn, for YHWH has called for a famine, and also, it is coming to the land [for] seven years.”
Elisée parla à la femme dont il avait fait revivre l'enfant, en ces termes: « Lève-toi, va-t-en, toi et ta famille, et séjourne où tu pourras; car Yahweh a appelé la famine, et elle vient en effet sur le pays pour sept années. »
2 And the woman rises, and does according to the word of the man of God, and goes, she and her household, and sojourns in the land of the Philistines [for] seven years.
La femme, s'étant levée, fit selon la parole de l'homme de Dieu: elle s'en alla, elle et sa famille, et séjourna sept ans au pays des Philistins.
3 And it comes to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman turns back from the land of the Philistines, and goes out to cry to the king for her house and for her field.
Au bout des sept ans, la femme revint du pays des Philistins et alla implorer le roi au sujet de sa maison et de son champ.
4 And the king is speaking to Gehazi, servant of the man of God, saying, “Please recount to me the whole of the great things that Elisha has done.”
Le roi s'entretenait avec Giézi, serviteur de l'homme de Dieu, en disant: « Raconte-moi, je te prie, toutes les grandes choses qu'Elisée a faites. »
5 And it comes to pass, he is recounting to the king how he had revived the dead, and behold, the woman whose son he had revived is crying to the king for her house and for her field, and Gehazi says, “My lord, O king, this [is] the woman, and this [is] her son, whom Elisha revived.”
Pendant que le serviteur racontait au roi comment son maître avait rendu la vie à un mort, voici que la femme dont Elisée avait fait revivre le fils se mit à implorer le roi au sujet de sa maison et de son champ. Et Giézi dit: « O roi mon seigneur, voici la femme et voici son fils qu'Elisée a rendu à la vie. »
6 And the king inquires of the woman, and she recounts to him, and the king appoints a certain eunuch to her, saying, “Give back all that she has, and all the increase of the field from the day of her leaving the land even until now.”
Le roi interrogea la femme, qui lui fit le récit; et le roi lui donna un eunuque, en disant: « Fais restituer tout ce qui lui appartient, avec tous les revenus du champ, depuis le jour où elle a quitté le pays jusqu'à présent. »
7 And Elisha comes to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram is sick, and it is declared to him, saying, “The man of God has come here.”
Elisée se rendit à Damas; Benhadad, roi de Syrie, était malade, et on l'informa, en disant: « l'homme de Dieu est arrivé ici. »
8 And the king says to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go to meet the man of God, and you have sought YHWH by him, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?”
Le roi dit à Hazaël: « Prends avec toi un présent, et va au-devant de l'homme de Dieu; consulte par lui Yahweh, en disant: Survivrai-je à cette maladie? »
9 And Hazael goes to meet him, and takes a present in his hand, even of every good thing of Damascus, a burden of forty camels, and he comes in and stands before him, and says, “Your son Ben-Hadad, king of Aram, has sent me to you, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?”
Hazaël alla au-devant d'Elisée. Il avait pris avec lui un présent, de tout ce qu'il y avait de meilleur à Damas, la charge de quarante chameaux. Lorsqu'il fut arrivé, il se présenta devant Elisée en disant: « Ton fils Benhadad, roi de Syrie, m'envoie vers toi pour dire: Survivrai-je à cette maladie? »
10 And Elisha says to him, “Go, say, You certainly do not revive, seeing [that] YHWH has showed me that he surely dies.”
Elisée lui répondit: « Va, dis-lui: Sûrement tu survivras. Mais Yahweh m'a fait voir que sûrement il mourra. »
11 And he sets his face, indeed, he sets [it] until he is ashamed, and the man of God weeps.
L'homme de Dieu arrêta son regard sur Hazaël et le fixa jusqu'à le faire rougir; et l'homme de Dieu pleura.
12 And Hazael says, “Why is my lord weeping?” And he says, “Because I have known the evil that you do to the sons of Israel—you send their fortifications into fire, and you slay their young men with sword, and you dash their sucklings to pieces, and you rip up their pregnant women.”
Hazaël dit: « Pourquoi mon seigneur pleure-t-il? » Et Elisée répondit: « Parce que je sais le mal que tu feras aux enfants d'Israël: tu livreras aux flammes leurs villes fortes, tu tueras avec l'épée leurs jeunes gens, tu écraseras leurs petits enfants et tu fendras le ventre à leurs femmes enceintes. »
13 And Hazael says, “But what [is] your servant—the dog, that he does this great thing?” And Elisha says, “YHWH has showed me you—king of Aram.”
Hazaël dit: « Mais qu'est donc ton serviteur, un chien, pour faire de si grandes choses? » Elisée répondit: « Yahweh m'a fait voir que tu seras roi de Syrie. »
14 And he goes from Elisha, and comes to his lord, and he says to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” And he says, “He said to me, You certainly recover.”
Hazaël, ayant quitté Elisée, revint auprès de son maître, qui lui dit: « Que t'a dit Elisée? » Il répondit: « Il m'a dit: Sûrement tu survivras. »
15 And it comes to pass on the next day, that he takes the coarse cloth, and dips [it] in water, and spreads [it] on his face, and he dies, and Hazael reigns in his stead.
Le lendemain, Hazaël prit une couverture et, l'ayant plongée dans l'eau, il l'étendit sur le visage du roi, qui mourut. Et Hazaël régna à sa place.
16 And in the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel—and Jehoshaphat [is] king of Judah—Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, has reigned;
La cinquième année de Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, Josaphat étant encore roi de Juda, Joram, fils de Josaphat, roi de Juda, régna.
17 he was a son of thirty-two years in his reigning, and he has reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
Il avait trente-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
18 And he walks in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab did, for a daughter of Ahab was to him for a wife, and he does evil in the eyes of YHWH,
Il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël, comme avait fait la maison d'Achab, car il avait pour femme une fille d'Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh.
19 and YHWH was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of His servant David, as He said to him, to give a lamp to him—to his sons [for] all the days.
Mais Yahweh ne voulut pas détruire Juda, à cause de David, son serviteur, selon la promesse qu'il lui avait faite de lui donner toujours une lampe parmi ses fils.
20 In his days Edom has revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they cause a king to reign over them,
De son temps Edom s'affranchit de la domination de Juda et se donna un roi.
21 and Joram passes over to Zair, and all the chariots with him, and he himself has risen by night, and strikes Edom that is coming around to him, and the heads of the chariots, and the people flee to their tents;
Joram passa à Séïra avec tous les chars; s'étant levé de nuit, il battit les Edomites qui l'entouraient et les chefs des chars, et le peuple s'enfuit dans ses tentes.
22 and Edom revolts from under the hand of Judah until this day; then Libnah revolts at that time.
Edom s'affranchit de la domination de Juda, jusqu'à ce jour. Lobna s'affranchit aussi dans le même temps.
23 And the rest of the matters of Joram and all that he did, are they not written on the scroll of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
Le reste des actes de Joram, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques de Juda?
24 And Joram lies with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the City of David, and his son Ahaziah reigns in his stead.
Joram se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David; et Ochozias, son fils, régna à sa place.
25 In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, has reigned;
La douzième année de Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, régna Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda.
26 Ahaziah [is] a son of twenty-two years in his reigning, and he has reigned one year in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Athaliah daughter of Omri, king of Israel,
Ochozias avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Athalie, fille d'Amri, roi d'Israël.
27 and he walks in the way of the house of Ahab, and does evil in the eyes of YHWH, like the house of Ahab, for he [is] son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
Il marcha dans la voie de la maison d'Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, comme la maison d'Achab, car il était gendre de la maison d'Achab.
28 And he goes with Joram son of Ahab to battle with Hazael king of Aram in Ramoth-Gilead, and the Arameans strike Joram,
Il alla avec Joram, fils d'Achab, combattre Hazaël, roi de Syrie, à Ramoth-en-Galaad. Les Syriens blessèrent Joram;
29 and Joram the king turns back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds with which the Arameans strike him in Ramah, in his fighting with Hazael king of Aram, and Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, has gone down to see Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, for he is sick.
le roi Joram s'en retourna pour se faire guérir à Jezrahel des blessures que les Syriens lui avaient faites à Ramoth, lorsqu'il se battait contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie. Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit pour voir Joram, fils d'Achab, à Jezrahel, parce qu'il était malade.
