2 Kings 7
1 And Elisha says, “Hear a word of YHWH! Thus said YHWH: About this time tomorrow, a measure of fine flour [is] at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, in the Gate of Samaria.”
Respondió Eliseo: “¡Oíd la palabra de Yahvé! Así dice Yahvé: «Mañana, a esta hora, se venderá en la puerta de Samaria la medida de flor de harina por un siclo y dos medidas de cebada por un siclo».”
2 And the captain whom the king has, by whose hand he has been supported, answers the man of God and says, “Behold, YHWH is making windows in the heavens—will this thing be?” And he says, “Behold, you are seeing it with your eyes, and you do not eat thereof.”
EI oficial sobre cuyo brazo el rey se apoyaba, contestó al varón de Dios, y dijo: “Aun cuando Yahvé abriese ventanas en el cielo, ¿podría ser eso?” Le respondió: “He aquí que tú lo verás con tus ojos, mas no comerás de ello.”
3 And four men have been leprous at the opening of the gate, and they say to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we have died?
Ahora bien, había a la entrada de la puerta cuatro leprosos que se dijeron unos a otros: “¿Por qué quedamos aquí sentados hasta que muramos?
4 If we have said, We go into the city, then the famine [is] in the city and we have died there; and if we have sat here, then we have died; and now, come and we go down to the camp of Aram; if they keep us alive, we live, and if they put us to death—we have died.”
Si preferimos entrar en la ciudad, el hambre está en la ciudad, y moriremos allí; y si nos quedamos aquí, moriremos igualmente. Vamos, pues, y pasémonos al campamento de los sirios. Si ellos nos dejan vivir, viviremos; y si nos matan, moriremos.”
5 And they rise in the twilight, to go to the camp of Aram, and they come to the extremity of the camp of Aram, and behold, there is not a man there,
Con esto, se levantaron al anochecer para irse al campamento de los sirios. Mas cuando llegaron a la entrada del campamento de los sirios, he aquí que no había allí nadie.
6 seeing YHWH has caused the camp of Aram to hear a noise of chariot and a noise of horse—a noise of great force, and they say to one another, “Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Egypt, to come against us.”
Pues el Señor había hecho que el ejército de los sirios oyese estrépito de carros y estrépito de caballos, el estrépito de un gran ejército, y se dijeron unos a otros: “He aquí que el rey de Israel ha tomado a sueldo contra nosotros a los reyes de los heteos y a los reyes de los egipcios, para caer sobre nosotros.”
7 And they rise and flee in the twilight, and forsake their tents, and their horses, and their donkeys—the camp as it [is]—and flee for their life.
Y se levantaron para huir al anochecer, abandonando sus tiendas, sus caballos y sus asnos, el campamento tal cual estaba, y buscaron su salvación en la huida.
8 And these lepers come to the extremity of the camp, and come into one tent, and eat, and drink, and lift up silver, and gold, and garments from there, and go and hide; and they turn back and go into another tent, and lift up from there, and go and hide.
Los leprosos llegados a la entrada del campamento entraron en una tienda, donde comieron y bebieron, y llevaron de allí plata y oro y vestidos, que fueron a esconder. Volvieron, y entrando en otra tienda, se llevaron también de allí objetos que ocultaron de la misma manera.
9 And they say to one another, “We are not doing right this day; it [is] a day of tidings, and we are keeping silent; and we have waited until the morning light, then punishment has found us; and now, come and we go in and declare [it] to the house of the king.”
Entonces se decían entre ellos: “No es bueno lo que hacemos. Este día es día de albricias. Si callamos y esperamos hasta la luz de la mañana, cae sobre nosotros culpa. ¡Vamos a avisar a la casa del rey!”
10 And they come in, and call to the gatekeeper of the city, and declare for themselves, saying, “We have come to the camp of Aram, and behold, there is no man or sound of man there, but the bound horse, and the bound donkey, and tents as they [are].”
Fueron, pues, y llamaron a los porteros de la ciudad, a los cuales dieron noticia, diciendo: “Hemos ido al campamento de los sirios; y he aquí que no había allí nadie, ni voz de hombre. Encontramos los caballos atados, y los asnos atados, y las tiendas como estaban.”
11 And he calls the gatekeepers, and they declare [it] to the house of the king within.
Los porteros dieron voces y transmitieron la noticia al interior de la casa del rey,
12 And the king rises by night and says to his servants, “Now let me declare to you that which the Arameans have done to us; they have known that we are famished, and they go out from the camp to be hidden in the field, saying, When they come out from the city, then we catch them alive, and we enter into the city.”
el cual se levantó de noche y dijo a sus siervos: “Voy a explicaros la maniobra que los sirios hacen con nosotros. Ellos saben que estamos hambrientos; por eso han salido del campamento para esconderse en el campo, porque se decían: «Cuando salgan de la ciudad, los prenderemos vivos, y podremos entrar en la ciudad.»”
13 And one of his servants answers and says, “Then please let them take five of the horses that are left, that have been left in it—behold, they [are] as all the multitude of Israel who have been left in it; behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel who have been consumed—and we send and see.”
Entonces uno de sus siervos tomó la palabra y dijo: “Tómense cinco de los caballos restantes que han quedado en la ciudad —pues a ellos les sucederá lo mismo que a toda la multitud de Israel que ha quedado en ella, es decir, lo mismo que a toda la multitud de Israel que ya murió— y enviémoslos a averiguarlo.
14 And they take two chariot-horses, and the king sends [them] after the camp of Aram, saying, “Go, and see.”
Tomaron dos carros con caballos, y el rey envió (gente) en seguimiento del ejército de los sirios, diciendo: “Id y ved.”
15 And they go after them to the Jordan, and behold, all the way is full of garments and vessels that the Arameans have cast away in their haste, and the messengers return and declare [it] to the king.
Les fueron siguiendo hasta el Jordán; y he aquí que todo el camino estaba lleno de vestidos y de objetos que los sirios habían arrojado en su precipitada fuga. Luego volvieron los enviados y avisaron al rey.
16 And the people go out and spoil the camp of Aram, and there is a measure of fine flour at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel, according to the word of YHWH.
Entonces salió el pueblo y saqueó el campamento de los sirios, y realmente se vendió una medida de flor de harina por un siclo, y dos medidas de cebada por un siclo, según la palabra de Yahvé.
17 And the king has appointed the captain, by whose hand he is supported, over the gate, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dies, as the man of God spoke, which he spoke in the coming down of the king to him,
El rey había entregado la custodia de la puerta a aquel oficial, sobre cuyo brazo se apoyaba; mas el pueblo lo atropelló en la puerta, de modo que murió, según la palabra del varón de Dios que este había pronunciado cuando el rey bajó a su casa.
18 indeed, it comes to pass, according to the speaking of the man of God to the king, saying, “Two measures of barley at a shekel, and a measure of fine flour at a shekel are, at this time tomorrow, in the Gate of Samaria”;
El varón de Dios había dicho al rey: “Mañana, a esta hora, se venderán en la puerta de Samaria dos medidas de cebada por un siclo, y una medida de flor de harina por un siclo”;
19 and the captain answers the man of God and says, “And behold, YHWH is making windows in the heavens—will this thing be?” And he says, “Behold, you are seeing it with your eyes, and you do not eat thereof”;
más aquel oficial había respondido al varón de Dios diciendo: “Aun cuando Yahvé abriese ventanas en el cielo, ¿podría ser esto?” Y el profeta le había replicado. “He aquí que tú lo verás con tus ojos, mas no comerás de ello.”
20 and it comes to him so, and the people tread him down in the gate, and he dies.
Así le aconteció; el pueblo lo atropello en la puerta y murió.
