2 Kings 25
1 And it comes to pass, in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has come, he and all his force, against Jerusalem, and encamps against it, and builds a surrounding fortification against it.
La neuvième année du règne de Sédécias, le dixième mois, le dixième jour du mois, Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, vint avec toute son armée contre Jérusalem, et établit son camp devant elle; on construisit tout autour des murs d’approche.
2 And the city enters into siege until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.
La ville fut assiégée jusqu’à la onzième année de Sédécias.
3 On the ninth of the month, when the famine is severe in the city, then there has not been bread for the people of the land.
Le neuvième jour du mois, comme la famine était plus grande dans la ville, et qu’il n’y avait plus de pain pour le peuple du pays,
4 And the city is broken up, and all the men of war [go] by night the way of the gate, between the two walls that [are] by the garden of the king, and the Chaldeans [are] against the city all around, and [the king] goes the way of the plain.
une brèche fut faite à la ville, et tous les gens de guerre s’enfuirent la nuit par le chemin de la porte entre les deux murs, près du jardin du roi, pendant que les Chaldéens environnaient la ville. Le roi prit le chemin de l’Araba.
5 And the force of the Chaldeans pursue after the king, and overtake him in the plains of Jericho, and all his force have been scattered from him;
Mais l’armée des Chaldéens poursuivit le roi et l’atteignit dans les plaines de Jéricho, et toute son armée se dispersa loin de lui.
6 and they seize the king, and bring him up to the king of Babylon, to Riblah, and they speak judgment with him.
Ayant saisi le roi, ils le firent monter vers le roi de Babylone à Rébla, et on prononça sur lui une sentence.
7 And they have slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and he has blinded the eyes of Zedekiah, and binds him with bronze chains, and they bring him to Babylon.
On égorgea les fils de Sédécias sous ses yeux. Puis Nabuchodonosor creva les yeux à Sédécias et le lia avec deux chaînes d’airain; et on le mena à Babylone.
8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh of the month (it [is] the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners, servant of the king of Babylon, has come to Jerusalem,
Le cinquième mois, le septième jour du mois, — c’était la dix-neuvième année du règne de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, — Nabuzardan, capitaine des gardes, serviteur du roi de Babylone, vint à Jérusalem.
9 and he burns the house of YHWH, and the house of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem, indeed, he has burned every great house with fire;
Il brûla la maison de Yahweh, la maison du roi et toutes les maisons de Jérusalem; il livra au feu toutes les grandes maisons.
10 and all the forces of the Chaldeans, who [are] with the chief of the executioners, have broken down the walls of Jerusalem all around.
Toute l’armée des Chaldéens qui était avec le capitaine des gardes démolit les murailles formant l’enceinte de Jérusalem.
11 And the rest of the people, those left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude, Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners has removed;
Nabuzardan, capitaine des gardes, emmena captifs le reste du peuple qui était demeuré dans la ville, les transfuges qui s’étaient rendus au roi de Babylone et le reste de la multitude.
12 and of the poor of the land the chief of the executioners has left for vinedressers and for farmers.
Le capitaine des gardes laissa comme vignerons et comme laboureurs quelques-uns des pauvres du pays.
13 And the pillars of bronze that [are] in the house of YHWH, and the bases, and the sea of bronze, that [is] in the house of YHWH, the Chaldeans have broken in pieces, and carry away their bronze to Babylon.
Les Chaldéens brisèrent les colonnes d’airain qui étaient dans la maison de Yahweh, ainsi que les bases et la mer d’airain qui étaient dans la maison de Yahweh, et ils en emportèrent l’airain à Babylone.
14 And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of bronze with which they minister, they have taken;
Ils prirent les pots, les pelles, les couteaux, les coupes et tous les ustensiles d’airain avec lesquels on faisait le service.
15 and the fire-pans, and the bowls that [are] wholly of silver, the chief of the executioners has taken.
Le capitaine des gardes, prit encore les encensoirs et les tasses, ce qui était d’or et ce qui était d’argent.
16 The two pillars, the one sea, and the bases that Solomon made for the house of YHWH, there was no weighing of the bronze of all these vessels;
Quant aux deux colonnes, à la mer et aux bases que Salomon avait faites dans la maison de Yahweh, il n’y avait pas à peser l’airain de tous ces ustensiles.
17 eighteen cubits [is] the height of the one pillar, and the capital on it [is] of bronze, and the height of the capital [is] three cubits, and the net and the pomegranates [are] on the capital all around—the whole [is] of bronze; and the second pillar has like these, with the net.
La hauteur d’une colonne était de dix-huit coudées; et il y avait au-dessus un chapiteau d’airain, et la hauteur du chapiteau était de trois coudées; et il y avait tout autour du chapiteau un treillis et des grenades, le tout d’airain; il en était de même de la seconde colonne avec le treillis.
18 And the chief of the executioners takes Seraiah the head priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold;
Le capitaine des gardes prit Saraïas, le grand-prêtre, Sophonie, prêtre de second ordre, et les trois gardiens de la porte.
19 and he has taken out of the city a certain eunuch who is appointed over the men of war, and five men of those seeing the king’s face who have been found in the city, and the head scribe of the host who musters the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who are found in the city;
Dans la ville, il prit un officier qui commandait aux gens de guerre, cinq hommes faisant partie du conseil privé du roi et qui furent trouvés dans la ville, le secrétaire du chef de l’armée chargé d’enrôler le peuple du pays, et soixante hommes du peuple du pays qui se trouvaient dans la ville.
20 and Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners takes them, and causes them to go to the king of Babylon, to Libnah,
Les ayant pris, Nabuzardan, capitaine des gardes, les conduisit vers le roi de Babylone à Rébla.
21 and the king of Babylon strikes them, and puts them to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he removes Judah from off its land.
Et le roi de Babylone les frappa et les fit mourir à Rébla, dans le pays d’Emath. Ainsi Juda fut emmené captif loin de son pays.
22 And the people that are left in the land of Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has left—he appoints Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, over them.
Quant au peuple demeuré au pays de Juda qu’y laissa Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, il lui donna pour gouverneur Godolias, fils d’Ahicam, fils de Saphan.
23 And all the heads of the forces hear—they and the men—that the king of Babylon has appointed Gedaliah, and they come to Gedaliah, to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of the Maachathite—they and their men;
Lorsque tous les chefs des troupes eurent appris, eux et leurs hommes, que le roi de Babylone avait établi Godolias pour gouverneur, ils vinrent vers Godolias à Maspha, savoir, Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, Johanan, fils de Carée, Saraïas, fils de Thanéhumeth, de Nétopha, et Jézonias, fils du Maachathien, eux et leurs hommes.
24 and Gedaliah swears to them and to their men, and says to them, “Do not be afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans, dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it is good for you.”
Godolias leur dit avec serment, à eux et à leurs hommes: « Ne craignez rien de la part des serviteurs des Chaldéens; demeurez dans le pays, servez le roi de Babylone, et vous vous en trouverez bien. »
25 And it comes to pass, in the seventh month, Ishmael son of Nathaniah has come, son of Elishama of the seed of the kingdom, and ten men with him, and they strike Gedaliah, and he dies, and the Jews and the Chaldeans who have been with him in Mizpah.
Mais, le septième mois, Ismaël, fils de Nathanias, fils d’Elisama, de la race royale, vint accompagné de dix hommes, et ils frappèrent à mort Godolias, ainsi que les Juifs et les Chaldéens qui étaient avec lui à Maspha.
26 And all the people rise, from small even to great, and the heads of the forces, and come to Egypt, for they have been afraid of the presence of the Chaldeans.
Alors tout le peuple, depuis le plus petit jusqu’au plus grand, et les chefs des troupes, se levèrent et s’en allèrent en Égypte, parce qu’ils avaient peur des Chaldéens.
27 And it comes to pass, in the thirty-seventh year of the expulsion of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh of the month, Evil-Merodach king of Babylon has lifted up, in the year of his reigning, the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, out of the house of restraint,
La trente-septième année de la captivité de Joachin, roi de Juda, le douzième mois, le vingt-septième jour du mois, Evil-Mérodach, roi de Babylone, en l’année de son avènement, releva la tête de Joachin, roi de Juda, et le tira de prison.
28 and speaks good things with him and puts his throne above the throne of the kings who [are] with him in Babylon,
Il lui parla avec bonté, et il mit son trône au-dessus du trône des rois qui étaient avec lui à Babylone.
29 and has changed the garments of his restraint, and he has eaten bread continually before him all [the] days of his life,
Il lui fit changer ses vêtements de prison, et Joachin mangea toujours en sa présence, tout le temps de sa vie.
30 and his allowance—a continual allowance—has been given to him from the king, the matter of a day in its day, all [the] days of his life.
Quant à son entretien, son entretien perpétuel, le roi y pourvut chaque jour, tout le temps de sa vie.
