2 Kings 22

1 Josiah [is] a son of eight years in his reigning, and he has reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Jedidah daughter of Adaiah of Boskath,

Im Alter von acht Jahren wurde Josia König, und einunddreißig Jahre regierte er in Jerusalem; seine Mutter hieß Jedida und war die Tochter Adajas von Bozkath.

2 and he does that which is right in the eyes of YHWH, and walks in all the way of his father David, and has not turned aside [to] the right or left.

Er tat, was dem HERRN wohlgefiel, und wandelte ganz auf dem Wege seines Ahnherrn David, ohne nach rechts oder nach links davon abzuweichen.

3 And it comes to pass, in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king has sent Shaphan son of Azaliah, son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of YHWH, saying,

In seinem achtzehnten Regierungsjahre aber sandte der König Josia den Staatsschreiber Saphan, den Sohn Azaljas, des Sohnes Mesullams, in den Tempel des HERRN mit der Weisung:

4 “Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, and he completes the silver that is brought into the house of YHWH, that the keepers of the threshold have gathered from the people,

»Gehe zum Hohenpriester Hilkia hinauf, er soll das Geld ausschütten, das in den Tempel des HERRN gebracht worden ist und das die Schwellenhüter vom Volk eingesammelt haben;

5 and they give it into the hand of those doing the work, the overseers, in the house of YHWH, and they give it to those doing the work, that [are] in the house of YHWH, to strengthen the breach of the house,

man soll es dann den Werkführern einhändigen, die am Tempel des HERRN zu Aufsehern bestellt sind, damit diese es den Arbeitern auszahlen, die am Tempel des HERRN mit der Ausbesserung der Schäden des Tempels beschäftigt sind,

6 to craftsmen, and to builders, and [to repairers of] the wall, and to buy wood and hewn stones to strengthen the house;

den Zimmerleuten, Bauleuten und Maurern sowie für den Ankauf von Hölzern und behauenen Steinen zur Instandsetzung des Tempels.

7 only, the silver that is given into their hand is not reckoned with them, for they are dealing in faithfulness.”

Doch soll über das Geld, das man ihnen einhändigt, keine Verrechnung mit ihnen stattfinden; denn sie handeln auf Treu und Glauben.«

8 And Hilkiah the high priest says to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found [the] Scroll of the Law in the house of YHWH”; and Hilkiah gives the scroll to Shaphan, and he reads it.

Da sagte dann der Hohepriester Hilkia zum Staatsschreiber Saphan: »Ich habe das Gesetzbuch im Tempel des HERRN gefunden«; damit übergab Hilkia dem Saphan das Buch, und er las es.

9 And Shaphan the scribe comes to the king, and brings the king back word, and says, “Your servants have poured out the silver that has been found in the house, and give it into the hand of those doing the work, the inspectors, in the house of YHWH.”

Als hierauf der Staatsschreiber Saphan zum Könige kam und diesem Bericht erstattet hatte mit den Worten: »Deine Knechte haben das Geld, das sich im Tempel vorfand, ausgeschüttet und es den Werkführern eingehändigt, die am Tempel des HERRN zu Aufsehern bestellt sind«,

10 And Shaphan the scribe declares to the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has given a scroll to me”; and Shaphan reads it before the king.

machte der Staatsschreiber Saphan dem Könige noch die Mitteilung: »Der Priester Hilkia hat mir ein Buch übergeben«, und Saphan las es dem Könige vor.

11 And it comes to pass, at the king’s hearing the words of the Scroll of the Law, that he tears his garments,

Als nun der König den Inhalt des Gesetzbuches vernommen hatte, zerriß er seine Kleider

12 and the king commands Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam son of Shaphan, and Achbor son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah servant of the king, saying,

und gab sodann dem Priester Hilkia und Ahikam, dem Sohne Saphans, und Achbor, dem Sohne Michajas, und dem Staatsschreiber Saphan und Asaja, dem Leibdiener des Königs, folgenden Befehl:

13 “Go, seek YHWH for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this scroll that is found, for great [is] the fury of YHWH that is kindled against us, because that our fathers have not listened to the words of this scroll, to do according to all that is written for us.”

»Geht hin und befragt den HERRN für mich und für das Volk und für ganz Juda in betreff des Inhalts dieses Buches, das man aufgefunden hat! Denn groß ist der Grimm des HERRN, der gegen uns entbrannt ist, weil unsere Väter den Weisungen dieses Buches nicht gehorcht haben, um das genau zu befolgen, was darin geschrieben steht.«

14 And Hilkiah the priest goes, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, to Huldah the prophetess, wife of Shallum, son of Tikvah, son of Harhas, keeper of the garments, and she is dwelling in Jerusalem in the second [quarter], and they speak to her.

Da begab sich der Priester Hilkia mit Ahikam, Achbor, Saphan und Asaja zu der Prophetin Hulda, der Frau des Kleiderhüters Sallum, des Sohnes Thikwas, des Sohnes Harhas; die wohnte zu Jerusalem im zweiten Bezirk. Als sie sich mit ihr besprachen,

15 And she says to them, “Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: Say to the man who has sent you to me,

sagte sie zu ihnen: »So hat der HERR, der Gott Israels, gesprochen: ›Sagt dem Mann, der euch zu mir gesandt hat:

16 Thus said YHWH: Behold, I am bringing in calamity to this place and on its inhabitants, all the words of the scroll that the king of Judah has read,

So hat der HERR gesprochen: ›Wisset wohl: ich will Unglück über diesen Ort und seine Bewohner kommen lassen, nämlich alle Drohungen des Buches, das der König von Juda gelesen hat.

17 because that they have forsaken Me, and make incense to other gods, so as to provoke Me to anger with every work of their hands, and My wrath has been kindled against this place, and it is not quenched.

Zur Strafe dafür, daß sie mich verlassen und anderen Göttern geopfert haben, um mich mit all dem Machwerk ihrer Hände zum Zorn zu reizen, soll mein Grimm gegen diesen Ort entbrennen und nicht wieder erlöschen!‹

18 And to the king of Judah, who is sending you to seek YHWH, thus you say to him, Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: The words that you have heard—

Aber zum König von Juda, der euch gesandt hat, um den HERRN zu befragen, zu dem sollt ihr so sagen: ›So hat der HERR, der Gott Israels, gesprochen: Was die Drohungen betrifft, die du vernommen hast:

19 because your heart [is] tender, and you are humbled because of YHWH, in your hearing that which I have spoken against this place, and against its inhabitants, to be for a desolation, and for a reviling, and you tear your garments and weep before Me—I also have heard—a declaration of YHWH—

weil dein Herz weich geworden ist und du dich vor dem HERRN gedemütigt hast, als du vernahmst, was ich diesem Ort und seinen Bewohnern angedroht habe, daß sie nämlich zu einem abschreckenden Beispiel und zu einem Fluch werden sollen, und weil du deine Kleider zerrissen und vor mir geweint hast, so habe auch ich dir Gehör geschenkt‹ – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN.

20 therefore, behold, I am gathering you to your fathers, and you have been gathered to your grave in peace, and your eyes do not look on any of the calamity that I am bringing in on this place”; and they bring the king back word.

›Darum wisse wohl: ich will dich zu deinen Vätern versammeln, daß du in Frieden in deine Grabstätte gebracht wirst, und deine Augen sollen all das Unglück, das ich über diesen Ort bringen werde, nicht zu sehen bekommen!‹«
