2 Kings 19
1 And it comes to pass, at King Hezekiah’s hearing, that he tears his garments, and covers himself with sackcloth, and enters the house of YHWH,
Cuando lo oyó el rey Ezequías, rasgó sus vestidos, y cubriéndose de saco, fue a la Casa de Yahvé,
2 and sends Eliakim, who [is] over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and the elderly of the priests, covering themselves with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, son of Amoz,
y envió a Eliaquim, mayordomo de palacio, y a Sobná, secretario, y a los más ancianos de los sacerdotes, cubiertos de saco, al profeta Isaías, hijo de Amós,
3 and they say to him, “Thus said Hezekiah: This day [is] a day of distress, and rebuke, and despising; for sons have come to the birth, and there is not power to bring forth.
para que le dijesen: “Así dice Ezequías: Día de angustia, de castigo y de oprobio es este; porque los hijos han llegado hasta el punto de nacer, pero no hay fuerza para el alumbramiento.
4 It may be your God YHWH hears all the words of the chief of the butlers with which the king of Asshur his lord has sent him to reproach the living God, and has decided concerning the words that your God YHWH has heard, and you have lifted up prayer for the remnant that is found.”
Quizá haya oído Yahvé, tu Dios, todas las palabras de Rabsacés, a quien su señor, el rey de Asiria, ha enviado para insultar al Dios vivo, y le castigará Yahvé, tu Dios, por las palabras que ha oído. Haz, pues, subir una oración por el resto que aún queda.”
5 And the servants of King Hezekiah come to Isaiah,
Los servidores del rey Ezequías fueron a Isaías,
6 and Isaiah says to them, “Thus you say to your lord, Thus said YHWH: Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Asshur have reviled Me.
e Isaías les respondió: “Esto diréis a vuestro señor: Así dice Yahvé: «No temas a causa de las palabras que has oído, con las cuales me han blasfemado los siervos del rey de Asiria.
7 Behold, I am giving a spirit in him, and he has heard a report, and has turned back to his land, and I have caused him to fall by the sword in his land.”
He aquí que pondré en él un espíritu, y al oír un rumor se volverá a su tierra; y lo hará perecer a espada en su tierra.»”
8 And the chief of the butlers turns back and finds the king of Asshur fighting against Libnah, for he has heard that he has journeyed from Lachish.
Volvió luego Rabsacés y encontró al rey de Asiria atacando a Lobná; pues le habían informado que (el rey) se había retirado de Laquís.
9 And he hears concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, saying, “Behold, he has come out to fight with you”; and he turns and sends messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
Entretanto (el rey de Asiria) recibió noticias respecto de Tarhaca, rey de Etiopía, que decían: “He aquí que se ha puesto en marcha para hacerte la guerra.” Volvió a enviar mensajeros a Ezequías, diciendo:
10 “Thus you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Do not let your God in whom you are trusting lift you up, saying, Jerusalem is not given into the hand of the king of Asshur.
“Así hablaréis a Ezequías, rey de Judá: «No te engañe tu Dios en quien confías cuando dices: Jerusalén no será entregada en manos del rey de Asiria.
11 Behold, you have heard that which the kings of Asshur have done to all the lands—to devote them; and are you delivered?
He aquí que tú mismo has oído lo que los reyes de Asiria han hecho a todos los países y cómo los destruyeron completamente. ¿Podrás tú por ventura librarte?
12 Did the gods of the nations deliver them whom my fathers destroyed—Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden, who [are] in Thelassar?
¿Acaso los dioses han librado a aquellas naciones a las que destruyeron mis padres: Gozan, Harán, Résef y los hijos de Edén, que habitaban en Telasar?
13 Where [is] the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?”
¿Dónde están el rey de Hamat, el rey de Arfad y el rey de la ciudad de Sefarvaim, de Ana y de Ivá?»”
14 And Hezekiah takes the letters out of the hand of the messengers and reads them, and goes up to the house of YHWH, and Hezekiah spreads it before YHWH.
Ezequías tomó la carta de manos de los mensajeros, y después de leerla subió a la Casa de Yahvé, y la extendió delante de Yahvé.
15 And Hezekiah prays before YHWH and says, “O YHWH, God of Israel, inhabiting the cherubim, You [are] God Himself—You alone—to all the kingdoms of the earth: You have made the heavens and the earth.
E hizo Ezequías delante de Yahvé esta plegaria: “¡Yahvé, Dios de Israel, que estás sentado sobre los querubines! Tú eres el solo Dios de todos los reinos de la tierra; pues Tú hiciste los cielos y la tierra.
16 Incline, O YHWH, Your ear, and hear; open, O YHWH, Your eyes, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib with which he has sent him to reproach the living God.
¡Inclina, oh Yahvé, tu oído y escucha! Abre, oh Yahvé, tus ojos y mira. Oye las palabras que Senaquerib ha enviado para insultar al Dios vivo.
17 Truly, O YHWH, kings of Asshur have laid waste the nations and their land,
Es verdad, oh Yahvé, que los reyes de Asiria han destruido a los pueblos con sus países,
18 and have put their gods into fire, for they [are] no gods, but work of the hands of man, wood and stone, and destroy them.
y que han echado sus dioses al fuego, porque no eran dioses, sino obra de manos de hombres, palos y piedras; por eso los pudieron aniquilar.
19 And now, O our God YHWH, please save us out of his hand, and all kingdoms of the earth know that You [are] YHWH God—You alone.”
Ahora oh Yahvé, Dios nuestro, líbranos de su mano, para que conozcan todos los reinos de la tierra que Tú, Yahvé, eres el solo Dios.”
20 And Isaiah son of Amoz sends to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: That which you have prayed to Me concerning Sennacherib king of Asshur I have heard;
Entonces Isaías, hijo de Amós, envió a decir a Ezequías: “Así dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel: He escuchado lo que me pediste respecto a Senaquerib, rey de Asiria.
21 this [is] the word that YHWH spoke concerning him: Trampled on you—laughed at you Has the virgin daughter of Zion; Shaken the head behind you Has the daughter of Jerusalem!
He aquí el oráculo que Yahvé ha pronunciado contra él: “Te desprecia, te escarnece la virgen, hija de Sión; la hija de Jerusalén menea tras ti su cabeza.
22 Whom have you reproached and reviled? And against whom lifted up a voice? Indeed, you lift up your eyes on high—Against the Holy One of Israel!
¿A quién has insultado e injuriado? ¿Contra quién has alzado la voz y levantado en alto tus ojos? ¡Contra el Santo de Israel!
23 By the hand of your messengers You have reproached the Lord, and say, In the multitude of my chariots I have come up to a high place of mountains—The sides of Lebanon, And I cut down the height of its cedars, The choice of its firs, And I enter the lodging of its extremity, The forest of its Carmel.
Por boca de tus mensajeros has insultado al Señor, y has dicho: “Con la multitud de mis carros he subido a las altas montañas, a las cimas del Líbano. He cortado sus elevados cedros, sus escogidos cipreses; he penetrado en sus últimos rincones, en sus más amenos bosques.
24 I have dug, and drunk strange waters, And I dry up with the sole of my steps All floods of a bulwark.
He alumbrado y bebido aguas ajenas, y con las plantas de mis pies he secado todos los ríos de Egipto.”
25 Have you not heard from afar [that] I made it, From days of old that I formed it? Now I have brought it in, And it becomes a desolation, Ruinous heaps [are] fortified cities,
¿Acaso no lo oíste decir que desde hace mucho lo he preparado, que Yo lo tengo planeado desde los tiempos antiguos? Ahora lo realizo. Por esto serás para devastar; serán ruinas las ciudades fuertes.
26 And their inhabitants [are] feeble-handed, They were broken down, and are dried up, They have been the herb of the field, And the greenness of the tender grass, Grass of the roofs, And blasted grain—before it has risen up!
Sus habitantes se hallan sin fuerza, llenos de susto y confusión; son como la hierba del campo, como la tierna verdura, como el pasto de los tejados, como el trigo agostado antes de madurar.
27 And your sitting down, and your going out, And your coming in, I have known, And your anger toward Me;
Yo conozco tu asiento, tu salida y tu entrada, y el furor que tienes contra Mí.
28 Because of your anger toward Me, And your noise—it came up into My ears, I have put My hook in your nose, And My bridle in your lips, And have caused you to turn back In the way in which you came.
Porque te has enfurecido contra Mí, y ha llegado a mis oídos tu soberbia, pondré mi anillo en tu nariz, y mi freno en tus labios; y te haré volver por el camino por donde viniste.
29 And this [is] the sign to you, Food of the year [is] the spontaneous growth, And in the second year the self-produced, And in the third year you sow, and reap, And plant vineyards, and eat their fruits.
Y esto te sirva de señal (oh Ezequías): Comeréis en este año lo que crece sin sembrar, en el segundo lo que brote de suyo, al tercer año sembraréis y segaréis; plantaréis viñas y comeréis su fruto.
30 And it has continued—The escaped of the house of Judah That has been left—to take root beneath, And has made fruit upward.
Lo que se salvare, el resto de la casa de Judá, volverá a echar raíces por debajo, y llevará fruto por arriba.
31 For a remnant goes out from Jerusalem, And an escape from Mount Zion; The zeal of YHWH [of Hosts] does this.
Porque de Jerusalén saldrá un resto, y del monte Sión algunos escapados. El celo de Yahvé de los Ejércitos hará esto.”
32 Therefore, thus said YHWH, Concerning the king of Asshur: He does not come into this city, Nor does he shoot an arrow there, Nor does he come before it with shield, Nor does he pour out a mound against it.
Por tanto, así dice Yahvé del rey de Asiria: “No entrará en esta ciudad, ni disparará aquí flecha; no le opondrá escudo; ni levantará contra ella baluartes.
33 In the way that he comes in—In it he turns back, And to this city he does not come in, A declaration of YHWH—
Por el camino que vino, por el mismo se volverá; no entrará en esta ciudad, dice Yahvé.
34 And I have covered over this city, To save it for My own sake, And for the sake of My servant David.”
Porque Yo ampararé esta ciudad para salvarla, por mi propia causa, y por amor de David, mi siervo.”
35 And it comes to pass, in that night, that a messenger of YHWH goes out, and strikes one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of Asshur, and they rise early in the morning, and behold, all of them [are] dead corpses.
En aquella misma noche salió el Ángel de Yahvé e hirió en el campamento de los asirios ciento ochenta y cinco mil hombres, y por la mañana, al tiempo de levantarse, he aquí que todos eran cadáveres.
36 And Sennacherib king of Asshur journeys, and goes, and turns back, and dwells in Nineveh;
Entonces Senaquerib, rey de Asiria, levantó el campamento, y se marchó. Después habitó en Nínive;
37 and it comes to pass, he is bowing himself in the house of his god Nisroch, and [his sons] Adramelech and Sharezar have struck him with the sword, and they have escaped to the land of Ararat, and his son Esar-Haddon reigns in his stead.
y mientras estaba adorando en el templo de su dios Nesroc, le mataron a espada sus hijos Adramélec y Sarasar, que huyeron al país de Armenia; y reinó en su lugar su hijo Asarhaddón.
